page 21 of 32 Some of the writing on the leftmost of these three gravestones is decipherable, and if I had had the time and patience I might have even been able to decipher a date on it. All these gravestones, and the remains of the church could easily end up in the sea if it were not for Trinity House who are now responsible for the safety of the ruins. The distinctive towers are used as a marine navigational aid, and to stop the sea further eroding the cliffs on which the ruins stand a great deal of work has been done to protect the cliffs from the might of the ocean. |
