It is sunny right now, and
this is in accordance with
the revised forecast that
shows a few hours of
sunshine coming up now, but
less sunshine later. Hopes
for another bright sunny day
are now fading, but there
will be sunshine later, and
most importantly it should
still be over 20° C, but
maybe not over 21° C like
yesterday. It seems counter
intuitive, but tomorrow is
currently forecast to be
very sunny again, but the
temperature may not rise
above 14° C.
I sort of
rested for quite a while
yesterday morning. This was
partly to cool down a bit
after washing my hair and a
hot shower, and also to let
my hair dry. It was also
because I wasn't planning to
walk very far, and I wanted
to be in Lewisham Park at
about quarter past 1pm.
I was hoping that
Angela might be there. She
wasn't. That was surprising
because it was deliciously
warm and sunny out. I have a
suspicion she may not have
been at work, although how
she can take so many days
off is a mystery.
The other, and
perhaps main reason I didn't
walk very far was that I was
not sure how my right knee
was going to feel. On the
whole it was OK, but maybe I
was feeling a little tired
after the previous day's
walk. I found I was in the
sort of state where I could
have pushed myself to walk
further, but rather glad I
didn't.
I must admit I was
quite happy to get home
again, and then stupidly had
a meat pie for lunch. The
most stupid thing is that it
was not nice enough to
justify the probable effect
on my blood glucose level.
After eating the pie, which
was at least a small
individual pie, I went
through the photos I took -
which wasn't many at all !
I was using my Canon
SX420 camera yesterday. It
gets very little use, and is
not really that good - at
least not on auto, but it is
really the sort of camera
where it is far easier to
use it on auto. I guess the
pictures are probably better
than most mobile phones can
manage, but there is still
something not quite right
about them. The picture
above, or the daffodils on
the river bank was taking
facing into the sun because
that is the only direction I
could take it from.
I tend to call these
white daffodils, but I think
that they are actually
narcissus. (Strange, my
spell checker seems to agree
with my guess spelling -
that's good !). To the naked
eye they look very distinct,
but in this picture they
seem to lose definition, and
yet I can zoom into a fairly
sharp image of an individual
bloom.
I did look these up,
and they do have their own
special name, but I forget
what it was - they are just
another variation of a
daffodil to me.
As I mentioned
yesterday morning, it was my
intention to wear shorts for
yesterday's walk. I though
it may still have been a bit
early in the year for above
the knee shorts, and so I
wore some "cargo shorts"
with all their useful
pockets - not that I was
carry much for just a short
local walk. It did feel sort
of good to wear them, and
the cooling effect on my
legs was useful, and stopped
me feeling too hot. I must
admit it did take 10 or 15
minutes to acclimatise to
the heat - even if in real
terms it was even 20° C when
I first went out.
Once I had checked
and edited the photos I used
- a just a mere 5 of them -
I laid down to read for a
while and fell asleep. I
think I needed some extra
sleep after my poor night
sleep when my aching knee
kept me awake. I think it
was after that sleep that I
had a big snack. It was spam
and crackers with mustard.
The crackers are a naughty
source of sugar, but I could
seem to care for some
reason.
When it eventually
came to dinner time I was
thinking of just having some
fruit, but a couple of big
navel oranges, and maybe a
couple of apples can also be
a fair supply of sugar. I
doubt it was the case, but I
thought some sausage and
stuffing balls might be
safer, although in terms of
health they were probably a
worse choice. That doesn't
even consider the negative
effect of the sausage and
onion flavoured burps that
happened after !
I had another lousy
night, last night. My knee
didn't seem to be so painful
as the night before, but
maybe only because I had
learned a few positions
where it was less painful.
The problem was that I
didn't seem to feel sleep
enough to fall asleep in
those safe, or safer,
positions. I guess I must
have slept for a few short
periods because I couldn't
remember the time passing,
but it felt like I didn't
really get any sleep until
gone 2am this morning.
Strangely enough, I
don't feel too tired this
morning, but that doesn't
mean I won't be grabbing any
handy opportunity for a
snooze. My blood glucose
remains high, but at least
it is the same as yesterday
morning, 8.6mmol/l. My
eating choices yesterday
were not always the best,
and it probably surprises me
more that it didn't go up
than the fact it didn't go
down. My knee continues to
give trouble.
I noticed that
walking to the toilet from
my bedroom could be quite
painful, but walking back
again wasn't. It is like
when I am walking - keeping
it moving stops it hurting.
If left too long it seizes
up. This is probably not
good, and probably is a good
indication of just what is
wrong. At this point I don't
know if it is arthritis or
failing cartilage of the
knee joint. I did have a
similar problem with my
right hip 4 or 5 years ago.
It really felt like I was
building up to a hip
replacement, but one day I
suddenly realised what ever
it was had cleared up, and I
suffered no more pain. That
was when I was commuting to
work, and so I couldn't even
rest it. I am rather hoping
this knee problem will
suddenly go away - and
hopefully in the not too
distant future !
I have a few vague
plans for today. I want to
go to the mini supermarket
on Catford Bridge as early
as I can to buy a few
things. I might go via
Savers, where I will
probably put on a mask while
I am inside to avoid being
throw out by their security
guard. I would probably top
up some of my pills in
there, but mostly I want
some extra sticking plasters
to protect some bits of my
feet while on long walks. At
lunchtime I am considering
walking directly to Lewisham
Park with a book. The idea
being that the book would
keep my company as I wait in
there from as much as half
an hour before Angela's
lunchtime, until half an
hour after it, in the hope
she may go there today. If
it is not bright and sunny
it may not be worth it. What
I really ought to be doing
today is some gardening !
