Yesterday's weather was pretty miserable, but it did start nice with some sunny spells. Later on there was a lot of drizzle. At sunset a lot of the sky seemed clear, and there was quite a colourful sunset, but it was still drizzling from what looked, at least to the west, as an empty sky. The temperature briefly touched 11° C but 10° C was more representative.

The latest revision to the forecast shows 10am as just light rain, and for the rest of the day it should be dry with just white clouds. There are none forecast, but the clouds look very patchy, and the occasional hole could open to let in a brief ray of sunshine. In fact the BBC forecast shows sunny spells from 1pm onwards. The highest temperature we can expect will be 10° C. Tomorrow could start at just 4° C, but a lot of sunny spells should raise it to about 9° C.

Yesterday was a day which could have been boring and depressing, but I became sort of numb to it, and while I couldn't think any positive thoughts, I managed to think neutral thoughts for much of the day. I did two things - one of which was positive, and the other probably positive, but it could have just been sideways !

The positive thing was that I had a shave, shampooed my hair, and had a nice shower. It was in part because I needed to do these things after neglecting such things the day before, and in part in case I should decide to go out. I hadn't got very far through the day when I realised I was not going out in the evening, but I still thought I might possibly go out and do some shopping in Tesco (or possibly Aldi).

I didn't go out in the end, but I did do some online commerce. I think it was on Friday when I looked up the place that Jodie was going to after seeing me on Thursday. I noted that they also did online orders for beer delivery, and also that they had a "just in" page. Yesterday I spent close on £100 on beers to be delivered "next working day". In theory that should be on Monday. I was annoyed that I must have missed the option to select free delivery for orders over £65. I guess I must have assumed it would be automatic, like most other beer sellers I use, but I seem to have accepted paying an extra £5.99 for delivery, and it is by Parcelforce. At least they tend to be quick, and usually give plenty of warning when delivery will take place.

The rest of my day was very bland....although maybe that is badly underrating the pleasure I got reading the latest book I am reading - "The Green Hills Of Earth", a collection of short stories by Robert A. Heinlein. Thanks to all the time I have been able to devote to it, I am now very close to the end of the book, and will move on to another of his books. It will be "Space Family Stone" because I am trying, where I can, to read all his books in the order he wrote them (based on original copyright date).

I think I waited until about 5pm before I hit the booze. I was thinking of drinking many cans of Carlsberg Special Brew (now only 7.5%), but in the end I only drank 3 cans because I don't seem to enjoy it like I use to. It seems to leave quite a nasty aftertaste. I am sure it never used to when it may have been brewed in Denmark instead of an English brewery to the orginal Danish recipe - which I feel sure is complete bollocks.

At just gone 6pm I ate the second half of my Chinese takeaway made on Friday night. It was Singapore fried rice and Szechuan Chicken. The rice was a lot better than the Szechuan Chicken, although it was rather dry. Beer helped to lubricate things, but I couldn't drink too much because it was poisoning the taste of the food. I mainly used gravy from the Szechuan Chicken to make the rice a bit moister.

I ate dinner while watching the second of about 5 back to back episodes of The Avengers. The last episode was the end of season episode, but it was actually filmed before the next season started, and introduced the rather stupid idea of "Mother" - in effect Steed's boss, and it introduced his new partner, Tara King who replaced Emma Peel in the following season.  I suppose it was the need to differentiate Tara King from Emma Peel that she starts the season looking quite frumpy, but I seem to think she ends up quite sexy, at least I hope she does !

At 9pm I was back in bed reading, instead of being in Bromley watching the start of a gig - one thing I would have liked to have done, but it was a self fulfilling prophecy that I probably would not go. I was probably fast asleep before the band even finished their first set. Compared to the previous night, I seemed to sleep well. The only thing that spoiled it was that at about midnight I was out of bed, and on the toilet doing what I should have done yesterday morning.

Maybe it was before I woke up to go to do my poo that I had a dream that I can remember thinking was interesting enough to recount here. Of course Sod's Law (or another of the various laws that govern real life) means that it has completely evaporated from my memory, as has another dream that would also have been interesting to recount from nearer to when I got up. Oh well....

I am unsure what to blame....Either the Special Brew (which may be a bit sweet), the instant noodles I ate late afternoon because I wanted something warm inside me, or the Chinese food, but one or all of those raised my blood glucose to almost dangerous levels this morning. The Contour and GlucoRX meters closely agreed with readings of 8.3mmol/l and 9.4mmol/l respectively. I could have taken a second, possibly better reading using the Viva Chek meter, but it seems so random that I don't even know why I bother using it. This morning it gave  reading well into the danger zone, 10.8mmol/l !

I an ideal world, or if I hadn't forgotten how to do it, I should be going out for a long walk today, and fasting until lunchtime, but I can't seem to imagine doing so. The air temperature is already around 10° C, and with a few sunny spells it should feel OK, but I am still reluctant to go out. I guess that I am scared that my chest will start aching, and ruin any enjoyment. I think it is still likely that I will go out to buy some shopping from Tesco. Yesterday Jodie reported that she had come down with another cold or something, and is unlikely to be over for any beer tasting today. It is looking like today could be a lot like yesterday, but maybe with some sunny spells, and no Chinese food.
