The forecast said a sunny
start to the day, but rain,
sometimes heavy rain, would start
to fall soon after midday. The
reality was sunshine and sunny
spells almost all day yesterday -
and it stayed dry ! It was even
warmer than forecast. I'm sure I
remember seeing 9.9° C for a
while, and I have a funny idea
that what I saw could have been
10.9° C.
There is a yellow warning
of heavy rain this morning, but
at the moment the sun is
shining, and has been since it
woke me up at just after 8am,
but I will admit much of the sky
is rather hazy, and the thin,
patchy cloud could thicken up.
The latest revision agrees with
the early version shown above,
and say the rain starts at 5pm,
and from 6pm it could be very
heavy. This morning started a
lot lower than 3° C, and I think
it was not much above 1° C at 5
or 6am. It had left a legacy of
thick frost. The highest
temperature today could be just
8° C. Tomorrow may feature
mostly white cloud with a couple
of sunny spells. Once again the
temperature is only predicted to
rise to 8° C, but it may not be
so cold tonight thanks to the
thick cloud.
Once again I
did not realise that yesterday
would be bright and cheerful. I
believed the weather forecast,
and that said it would be a
depressing day. Even if I had
realised it would be sunny all
day it was unlikely I would have
chosen to spend much time
outdoors with the temperature so
low.
So I stayed in, and tried
to amuse myself again. I ended
up doing lots of little things,
and a lot of reading. As I
mentioned yesterday, I wanted to
fast until dinner time in the
evening because my blood glucose
was so high in the morning.
Without any really good
distractions it was very hard
going, and I gave in to a
handful of salted peanuts at
about 2pm, and another an hour
or so later.
One of the jobs I did
during the afternoon was some
video editing - once again
topping and tailing, plus advert
removal, of stuff recorded off
TV. The other important thing I
did was to do with with video. I
maybe spent half an hour
installing extra software on the
iMac 8 in the dining room so it
could play, and rip DVDs. I then
used it to rip a box set of 4
movies made in the old Ealing
Studios. It is not a fast
machine, and it's only real nice
thing is it's display. I
actually did 3 rips yesterday,
and the last of the three was
ripped over night. This morning
I started the 4th disk from the
box set ripping.
From 5pm there were five
back-to-back episodes of The
Avengers being shown on "Great
TV !". I watched all five, but
it was only recently that I had
watched 2 of them from my own
archives (or maybe the episodes
had been shown individually
during the week). For those
couple I kept the TV on, but
read some stuff on the internet.
Sometimes I would start reading
off the internet during a
commercial break, and not switch
my attention back to the TV
until well after the adverts had
finished.
The episodes showing now
are the ones where Tara King has
replaced Emma Peel. Emma Peel
was pretty, but very rarely
sexy. Tara King, her replacement
started off very unsexy, but as
the episodes progressed she did
start to reveal some minor
attractiveness. I can't recall
ever finding her very
attractive, although in one or
two outfits there was a hint of
it there. I have a funny feeling
that just before the series
ended she did look OK in
possibly the last two episodes.
Maybe going out on a high was a
good thing.
I really looked forward
to my dinner after partly
fasting all day (including no
breakfast). It was good that I
had the chance to have a double
dinner because I had two opened
packets of meat that needed
using up before they started to
turn. The first, and originally
planned dinner was quite a lot
of ham with no more than iceberg
lettuce to accompany it. I will
admit I might have been a bit
free with the mayonnaise on the
lettuce. Dinner part two was
just a couple of beefburgers
with mustard on them.
As bed time
approached, when the last
episode of The Avengers finished
at 9pm, I was a bit worried that
I seemed to be getting greasy
burps. A couple of antacid
tablets seemed to curb that, and
also take away the worry about
possibly throwing up. Yesterday
morning (or was it the morning
before ?) I had an idea of what
caused me to throw up last
Wednesday night. At the time I
wondered if the "washed, and
ready to eat" Iceberg lettuce
may have been contaminated. I
now think it was the old bottle
of mayonnaise that might have
been going off. Last night I
opened a new bottle.
Last night was another
night where I seemed to sleep
really soundly, and well past my
usual getting up time. It was
after 8am when I got up this
morning ! I remember having an
assortment of dreams, but all
details of them, apart from a
short bit of one of them have
faded from memory. The one
remembered bit was a bit sexy,
but wasn't sexual. I have no
idea who she was, and why she
was there, but I remember we
ended up holding each other
while laying on a couch (at
least I don't think it was a
bed). I am not even sure if we
were fully dressed, naked, or
something between the two. What
I do remember was her hair. It
was as soft as cat fur, but
considerably longer. I think I
would very much have liked to
know her in real life.
I didn't think I had
ended up fasting to the degree I
was hoping for yesterday, but
the results of my blood glucose
readings were pretty good this
morning. Both the Contour and
Sino Care meters read 8.4mmol/l.
That is a bit lower than my
typical averages over the last
few years, but I had hoped for a
bit less, and that is what the
GlucoRX meter read - just
7.2mmol/l. I don't know how it
could be so different to the
other two, but I do know that I
would be extremely happy if the
other two had agreed with it.
My plans for today
include washing my hair, and
having a shower. Popping out to
Tesco for some extra food
supplies, and trying not to buy
some sort of stupid, and bad for
me, lunch. Later this afternoon
Jodie should be over for some
more beer tasting - unless she
checks the weather forecast and
bottles out because she doesn't
want to get completely drowned
on the way home again. I
wouldn't blame her. On the other
hand, once again, we seem to
have had not stop sunshine since
sunrise, and the weather
forecast could be completely
wrong
again !
P.S. My fasting may not
have been as good as intended
yesterday, but this morning I
seemed to have lost the small
amount of weight I had put on
recently.
