There was a lot more
sunshine, and a lot less rain than
forecast, but sadly it did rain
from time to time. Oh well, I
guess the garden needed it. As the
forecast sort of suggested by
using that strange icon that shows
cloud, sun and rain all at the
same time, there was indded some
sunshine during a brief but heavy
fall of rain just after 1pm. There
was some more rain later in the
afternoon, but a lot of yesterday
was bright and cheerful. It is a
shame that the temperature did not
rise much more than 14° C.
The latest revision to
the weather forecast has removed
the sunny spells that existed in
reality at the start of this
morning. The latest revision
only shows sunny spells for 11am
and midday. Meanwhile something
with warm ansd bright rays is
playing across my bare back, and
it feels delicious ! The latest
revision to the forecast shows
light rain for not only 5 and
6pm, but also for 8 and 9pm.
According to my outdoor
thermometers it is now just
under 11° C, or 2° higher than
the early forecast, and 3°
higher than 9am in the latest
revision. If the temperature
continues to climb it could
possible reach 15° C by early
afternoon. Tomorrow could start
off wet, but it should dry up
before midday, and the afternoon
may be dull, but almost warm at
15° C.
Yesterday featured
a rather poor evening, but both
day and night were quite good.
Apart from several visits to the
toilet in the morning, to
seemingly clear a backlog after
not going much, or at all, the
day before, nothing much
happened yesterday morning. I
didn't even have a shower as
intended.
The highlight of the day
was just after 1.30pm when my
latest box of beer was
delivered. Until then it had
been mostly sunny, and I was
surprised to open the front door
and see the sun was still almost
shining, but there was quite a
heavy fall of rain. If I had not
been more interested in opening
my box of beers I could have
popped outside with a camera,
and possibly got a good rainbow
photo.
As I mentioned yesterday,
and/or the day before, my beer
delivery was of all beers chosen
by me, for me, although there
are some in it that I think
Jodie would like to have a taste
of. There was a mad temptation
to dive straight in and have a
few beers straight away, but
after Friday morning's hangover
I decided to lay off the booze
for a while, and to definitely
save getting really pissed to
next Thursday.
I still had a misguided
idea that I might possibly go
out last night. I can say now
that I didn't, although I did
try and act as if I might go out
- or in other words I had a very
lazy afternoon. I did suspend
being lazy to make myself some
lunch. It was a couple of salami
sandwiches made with Polish,
sourdough, 0% sugar, bread.
Later on in the afternoon I had
some sugar free "Maria" biscuits
with some sliced Gouda cheese
(or was it Edam ?).
One other thing I did
while in the kitchen, making
sandwiches, and washing
Thursday's beer glasses, was to
prepare what is going to end up
as today's dinner. I cooked some
diced pork, with herbs and
spices, plus stock cubes, for
about 20 minutes in the
microwave. I then left it
covered to let the grease float
to the surface, and then harden
as it cooled off. Today I will
skim that congealed fat off the
top, and have a healthier dinner
tonight.
It is hard to be definite
about how I passed the time in
the afternoon. I did some
reading, both from book and from
the internet. I changed the
batteries in my blood pressure
meter, and dickered around with
a few odds and ends. There was
almost nothing constructive
about it, but I didn't let that
bother me, and I guess I could
say I enjoyed it.
A little after 5pm I
started to prepare my dinner. By
then I felt sure I would not go
out to the gig I would have
liked to have gone to. It seemed
to be getting cold outside, and
was possibly drizzly, although
it may have just felt like it
could get drizzly, once darkness
fell I didn't reall look
outside. My dinner was very
simple, apart from the fact I
cooked it in two parts in the
microwave. First of all I
cleaned, and sliced a couple of
smallish sweet potatoes. I gave
them 10 minutes in the
microwave. While they were
cooking I cleaned and prepared
some sweetheart cabbage. I then
gave that 10 minutes in the
microwave.
Microwaving the cabbage
was a good learning experience.
I didn't fully cover the leaves
with water, and expected the
leaves at the top to cook in
steam, but that didn't happen,
and they just went a bit limp
and yellow. They looked
horrible, but seemed to taste
OK....although I have decided I
don't really care for sweetheart
cabbage. Maybe the heart of it
is good, but just a load of
loose big leaves was not good.
It was gone 6pm when I
ate my dinner, but to get my
juices flowing beforehand I did
treat myself to a single bottle
of a dark German beer - as
pictured above. I almost forgot
to mention the other ingredient
in my dinner. It was a small
pack of ready sliced ham. It
would have been better if it was
thick sliced, unpackaged ham.
The Polish shop on the high
street does some good, sliced to
order, ham.
It was just before 7pm
when I got an unexpected phone
call. It was from my old friend
Lee. He sounded surprisingly
sober, and I wonder if he has
cleaned himself up. The last
time I saw him he looked like a
tramp, stunk to high heaven, and
was probably doing a bottle of
whisky a day. In that state I
declared him an ex-friend, but
if time proves he has cleaned
himself up, I might feel able to
call him friend again.
It was during our chat
that I felt an ominous rumble in
my guts, plus some discomfort. I
rushed to the toilet while we
were still talking, and passed a
lot of very loose poo. I was
surprised there was so much
after going quite copiously in
the morning. It came on quite
quickly, and it made me feel
very glad that I had not gone
out last night - doubly so when
10 minutes later I was rushing
back to the toilet to do another
"pan filler" !
I used the second time as
a good excuse to finish the
phone call so I could
concentrate on the real job at
hand. I must admit I did feel
much better after that second,
and thankfully last visit to the
toilet. It almost seemed to cure
a few other, seemingly non
related aches and pains. That
seemed to suggest I might sleep
better last night, and I did,
although I helped things further
with a couple of Paracetamol
tablets.
About the only live TV I
watched last night was "Secrets
Of The London Underground" that
was on between 8 and 9pm. I
headed to bed after it finished,
and read for a while. I am sure
I was fast asleep before 10pm,
and I did seem to sleep well. I
only woke a few times in the
night, and one was to turn the
heater up after waking up,
admittedly mostly uncovered,
feeling cold. The fact that I
didn't pee much in the night was
a good sign, although I have
been mislead by it before.
I was hoping to describe
some dreams from last night, but
they have all faded from my
memory. That is a shame because
I remember waking up at around
1am from quite a rich series of
related dream that involved
motorbikes, food, music, woman,
and other good things in life. I
remember most of it was set in a
very big house, but all I can
remember now is just a few
isolated snapshots, featuring
the things described, but none
of the action.
This morning maybe my
lack of peeing during the night
(or I should probably say
less
peeing), did indeed prove to be
because of low, getting on for
normal, non diabetic, blood
glucose readings. The Contour
meter read 7.6mmol/l, and that
is very good. The GlucoRX meter
read 6.7mmol/l, and that is
fantastically good for me. Even
the Sinocare meter was in good
humour with a figure of
7.4mmol/l. Maybe I am doing
something right, and maybe that
is being helped by my new
Chromium supplement tablets.
So far this morning I
have no had a poo. That is not
surprising after all I did
yesterday, and yet there are
light rumblings from my belly,
and maybe last night's dinner is
getting ready to be expelled.
Had it not been for that, plus
it not being very warm outside,
and if I had not been busy
writing this, I might have
possibly gone for a walk in the
sunshine. If there is enough
left by the time I feel ready to
go out, I may go for a short
walk today.
By a short walk I was
thinking of maybe nothing more
that a quick walk around the
park, but maybe it will more
likely be a short walk to the
shops. I would like to top up on
toilet cleaner - particularly
some of the fragrant toilet
cleaner gels that tend to be
quite cheap from Savers. I would
also like a quick spin around
Poundstretcher to top up on a
few things from there as well.
Other than that I still
have a shed load of recording
made on my big TV that need top
and tailing, plus advert removal
- and some of them are worth
watching rather than just
archiving. On top of that I have
recently started reading another
book ("Glory Road" by Robert
Heinlein), and having got
through the slightly dull bit
where the setting and main
character is described, is just
about to enter the good part of
the story. I can imagine getting
through a few more chapters of
the book today.
Fortunately there are no
tempting gigs on tonight, and I
don't have to worry about that
today.
