There were a few short very bright periods, and a single, 57 second long, sunny spell yesterday morning. There was even a bright sunset, but most of the day was sometimes brightly dull, and sometimes double dull ! The temperature prediction for yesterday changed by a degree several times, and so I shall quote my own thermometers which read 15° C for a while.

The forecast got the early light rain right. Since 8pm it seems to have been dry. Like yesterday, no sunshine is forecast, but at least half the day might be reasonably bright under white clouds, but the rest of the day will likely be quite dull under grey clouds. The current revision says the temperature should rise to 15° C by 3pm, and stay there until 7pm when it starts to fall for the night. It won't fall too far, and tomorrow could start at 10° C. Like today, there will be no sunshine, but more of the day may feature bright white cloud, and that will raise the temperature to 15° C again.

There is not a lot to say about yesterday because only one important thing happened, but did lead on to a few things worth noting. Mostly it seems I did almost nothing, but I must have done something because I don't remember feeling particularly bored (although there were some periods when I was bored).

I got off to a late start yesterday, but I didn't write that much, and so I finished earlier than many days. I had half an hour to get my breath back before going for the full shave, shampoo and shower ablutions. I most definitely needed a shower, and my hair didn't feel too good either. I didn't need to look clean shaven, but I shaved anyway to save time today, and having washed my hair yesterday, I will save extra time today by not having to do that as well.

Once clean and sparkling I checked the outside temperature, and decided no coat was needed to go out shopping. Also, I turned the heater off some time before I went to the bathroom, and I left it off until mid afternoon. My shopping destination was Tesco, and as usual I bought some meat and vegetables for dinners, but also some fruit. I think I mentioned yesterday that after shunning fruit for some time because of it's sugar content, I decided that while my blood glucose seemed to have stabilised at a lower figure, I could chance some fruit for the good effect it should have on my bowels.

My shopping in Tesco was not all goodness and light ! I spotted some almost half price sausage rolls on their sell by date, and also some mini pork pies, also almost half price. I shoved several of each into my shopping basket. I also noted "Proper Twelve" Irish whiskey was on Clubcard special offer of £19 for a 70cl bottle. That was an offer I couldn't resist even though I am cutting down a bit, but only a bit, on my booze intake.

I felt quite warm after walking home from Tesco. The breeze was very light, and so the 14 or 15° C felt quite nice, although I think I might have described it as excellent if it had been sunny too. Apart from some slight leg tiredness, I didn't seem to suffer any chest pains. That walk felt good....or I seem to believe it did, but on the other hand I didn't feel any yearning to walk even further.

I arrived home with a light sheen of sweat on my forehead, and that was a good reason not to turn the heating on. I seemed to be quite comfortable on the residual warmth of the room. In fact I decided I would open both the bathroom, and dining room windows to let some fresh air in. That felt good for a while. I then relaxed and stuffed my face with three Walls sausage rolls. I ate them cold and greasy, and I have a funny feeling they tasted better that way. One sausage roll had quite a low sugar content, but three of them was pushing my luck.

After my lunch (part 1) I laid on my bed, and started reading. Afte a while my eyelids seemed to start drooping. I put the book down, and let my eyes closed. I didn't expect anything to happen, but the next thing I knew was that I was waking up, something like an hour later, and feeling almost shivery. That seemed a very good reason to turn the heater on for a while.

After those sausage rolls there was no need for lunch part 2, but I was curious about the fruit I had bought. I had bought a 6 pack of rather small Pink Lady apples, and it had been ages, more like years, since I last tasted one. I washed 2 of them, and ate them with some cheese to nibble on. They were sort of nice, but maybe a smidge too tart for my taste, and these days I cut them up with a knife before eating them.

At that time, dinnertime was still several hours away, and I couldn't think of any better way to pass the time than catching up on some of my reading stuff on the internet. I probably should have edited a few more off air recordings made on my TV, but after doing 5 lots of editing the day before, I lacked the enthusiasm for it yesterday. That was a sort of shame because I seem to be recording more than I can handle at the moment.

When it came to dinner, which I had just before 7pm, a little late than usual, I went for a special sort of dinner. It started with two Tesco Finest Scotch Eggs with some raw red bell peppers, plus some mayo and mustard. It felt more like a hastily put together snack, but I still had a dessert to go after it. It was a couple of small oranges (not small as in Satsuma) from the pack of 5 or 6 I had bought earlier. They were quite tasty, although like most supermarket oranges, a bugger to peel.

There seemed to be nothing on TV to amuse me last night, and so I resorted to playing some of my old recordings of The Avengers. It is a shame that the final episodes, featuring Tara King, as Steed's side kick, deteriorated into almost slapstick comedy, but I guess they had their moments, although by mid season Linda Thorsen, as Tara King, had still not blossomed, as I thought I remembered her do, into a sexy woman assistant. Maybe it is just me, but she seems to be frumpy and lumpy, or something like that !

Like so many nights recently with no interesting distractions, I was in bed reading not long after 8.30pm. Despite my long afternoon snooze, I soon began to feel tired. It can't have been long after 9pm that I turned the light out, and tried to go to sleep. From then on things became very confusing. It seemed to take hours before I fell asleep, but at the same time it seemed like large chunks of time went missing. I guess I must have fallen into short light sleeps. I seemed to sleep properly from some time after 11pm.

From then on I slept properly, and only woke up a few times in the night. I know I had many dreams, but I can't remember enough about most to describe anything at all. One dream was different, although I can't remember much about what happened. What I can remember is that it featured my old friend Nigel. He was a mad sort of person, but often great fun. Sadly he died very young - possibly as a result of some experimental psychiatric drugs he was prescribed. I can't remember what year that was, but it seems like it was about 10 years ago.

One thing I did last night, shortly before I went to bed, was to check my blood glucose level. I don't do that except on rare occasions, and after eating the fruit yesterday, I though last night was one of those rare occasions. The reading I got was 8.3mmol/l, and I thought that was very good particularly so after it only being a few hours since I had last eaten. I hoped it would mean good news this morning.

It turns out that my readings this morning are good, but not as good as hoped. They are all in the light green, or in the sevens. The Contour meter read 7.9mmol/l - almost in the more average (although the average has been dropping this month) eights. The GluoRX meter read a slightly better 7.6mmol/l, and the Sinocare meter excelled itself by reading halfway between the other two at 7.8mmol/l. It seems I can tolerate some fruit and still get good readings, and as hoped, my bowel movements this morning are the better for it.

The only important thing on today's agenda is my Wednesday Guinness session in The Jolly Farmers. There is a chance my favourite barmaid will not be there today. That will be bad as well as very good. If she is not there it means she has finally been called into get a small operation done to hopefully cure a couple of polyps in her nose. Apparently, her very long waited for appointment with the consultant who will do the job when he has a moment, did reveal a bit of a bombshell - they might not be polyps, but cancerous growths as a worst case possibilities. It would be great if she is behind the bar today with some good news to tell.
