This
morning started off very mild,
even mildly warm at 16° C. I'm
unsure if there was full
sunshine at 7am, but there
definitely is now, and it
should, or could, last until 2pm
when we may only have sunny
spells until sunset. It is
possible we may get a shower at
6pm. The temperature should peak
at 25° C. That is not as good as
yesterday, but still pretty
good. Tomorrow may only see
sunny spells, and will be a few
degrees cooler. Just 21° C is
forecast, but that is still just
t-shirt weather. After tomorrow
the weather reverts for what we
are told is more typical for
May. That mostly means
temperatures under 20° C (but
maybe not by much) for a couple
of weeks.
Yesterday was another
mixed day - mostly good, but it
went wrong in the evening, or
more accurately,
I went
wrong in the evening, and of
course booze was to
blame......at least 50% ! This
morning I don't feel like
writing much, but possibly will.
Yesterday started off
rather well. There was the usual
writing, rest and then shower,
but after that I went to the
pharmacy to collect my latest
repeat prescription (something I
had intended to do on
Wednesday). After getting that
home I had a brief sit down, and
then I went shopping in Tesco. I
didn't measure these two walks,
but experience suggests I was
walking for at least 24 minutes,
and probably several more. That
seemed good enough for my daily
exercise, although I didn't
bother to record it.
I bought some nice, very
fresh seeming, Ciabatta rolls in
Tesco, as well as a few more
small tins of mackerel. I think
I was probably intending to buy
sardines for their apparent
lower sugar content. When I got
home I made my lunch. It was
fairly light for a pre-boozing
lunch, and maybe that was a
mistake, or maybe not. Just one
small tin of mackerel split
between two rolls, with some
pepper and a bit of mayonnaise
on one half of the roll, made
for an unexpectedly delicious
lunch.
After lunch I did the
usual mix of resting snoozing
and tidying up the kitchen and
dining room ready for the
boozing session. This time
Michael joined Jodie and me. He
had plenty to say - mostly
negative stuff about Lewisham
Council ! I don't think we had
any particularly strong beers
yesterday, and maybe slightly
less than usual. That was partly
because Jodie was going to a gig
in the evening, and didn't want
to get too soused beforehand.
I was definitely feeling
"mellow" after Jodie and Michael
had left, but I don't recall
feeling drunk enough for the bad
decisions that followed. I
suppose the rot really set in
while I was shopping. I could
not resist getting a small tub
of BBQ chicken wings. By
themselves they would only have
been mildly bad for me, but I
ended up having nearly a full
big bag of crisps with them. I
made matters worse by following
that lot with some ice cream -
possibly nearly 2 scoops worth.
After some evening TV I
went to bed, but I felt too
uncomfortable for sleep. I felt
bloated. A few of the beers I
had in the afternoon were very
gassy lagers, and that seemed to
fill my stomach with gas. I'm
not quite sure how I seemed to
be full of gas at the other end
of my digestive tract, but as I
laid in bed I was burping and
farting, and yet neither seemed
to stop the feeling of bloat.
I seemed to have no
choice by to get up for a bit
and try to let it all settle
down. Even when it seemed I was
falling asleep at my PC, I still
couldn't seem to fall asleep in
my bed. It may have been past
1am before I got about an hour
of sleep. I suppose I woke for a
pee, but as I recall it was not
a very big pee. I think I may
have been waking about once an
hour until 6am, and each time I
never seemed to do a big pee
until 6am. After that I went
back to bed instead of getting
up.
I almost managed 2 hours
of sleep then. When I got up I
did a fairly big pee, and a very
large poo ! That was sort of
handy because obviously it made
me more comfortable, but also it
meant that when I got on the
scales I didn't get an awful
reading. In fact it seemed like
I had only put on 200gm, and was
still close to the units digit
dropping by one. If I am careful
I might achieve that tomorrow
morning - if I am good !
While my weight was
basically satisfactory, my blood
glucose was all over the place.
Depending on the meter it could
have been very good or very bad.
The Contour meter was the bad
one (and I tried it again with
the same result). It said my
blood glucoe was a very bad
9.1mmol/l. On the other hand,
the GlucoRX meter read a very
good 7.9mmol/l. The Sinocare
meter read a little higher, but
not too high with a reading of
8.8mmol/l.
I do find it odd that
after feeling so bad last night,
and feeling quite creaky this
morning, my blood pressure is
still very good this morning. It
was 98/43 just now. My pulse
rate was a little higher than
usual, but 58 bpm is still very
acceptable in a semi resting
state (or so I believe without
any real knowledge of these
things). Even with that bit of
semi good news, I still feel
lousy. It is probably mainly
missed sleep, and aches and
pains from sleeping in awkward
positions or something.
Even without how I
currently feel, I had been
thinking of taking a sort of
rest today, and by that I mostly
mean not going out for any
exercise. Instead I could do
stuff like washing some clothes,
and if I can raise the
enthusiasm to wield the
strimmer, I could cut a path
(over the actual path) to the
washing line to hang it in the
sun to dry. The only fault with
that idea is that the sun went
in 15 or 20 minutes ago, and the
breeze coming through my open
windows is feeling almost
chilly.
I've just closed the
windows, and had a good look out
the front. It looks quite grey
outside, and the sky is looking
very cloudy. It looks the same
out the back of the house,
although in that direction it is
easier to see that it is not
very dense cloud, and there
still are some small gaps that
the sun could shine through if
they happened to be in the right
place. This is not the full
sunshine that the BBC is
forecasting.
However, I note that the
Met Office forecast does show
mostly "sunny intervals" for
today. I am thinking I may opt
to dry my washing indoors.....on
the other hand, it is still
forecast to reach at least 25° C
today (possibly 26° C) and that
should be good enough to dry
stuff if there is a bit of
breeze.
