My
Electronic Diary For May 2025 |
Monday 19th May 2025 |
08:29 BST
Despite the optimism of the
weather forecast, yesterday was relentlessly dull and
grey until around 2pm. In the grey light even 16° C
felt almost chilly. It was possibly 4 or even 5pm
until it started to feel nice, and the sunshine was
more less non stop. it only took the temperature up to
18° C.
![]() The weather forecast for
today looks like it was actually for yesterday. It
is quite dull now, and the first sunshine should
appear at midday. It will be 4pm before we get
full sunshine - assuming the forecast is accurate.
It possibly is accurate because the BBC forecast
(screenshot above) is very similar to the Met
Office forecast (which often seems to be for
somewhere else than Catford) Today should be dry,
and the temperature should reach 19° C. Tomorrow
may see things reversed - strong sunshine all
morning, and then just sunny spells in the
afternoon. The afternoon temperature should reach
a pleasant 22° C.
Yesterday turned out to be completely different to what I had planned. It was a lot to do with the depressing dull grey skies, and also because I was technically constipated, although strangely enough I didn't actually feel that way. More on this unpleasant stuff later. My whole day, or as much as is worth writing about, plus my night and some notes about this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Sunday 18th May 2025 |
08:51 BST
After a dull start,
yesterday was a nice sunny day, although at times it
didn't feel that warm. The temperature reached 20° C
in the pure sunshine, but the breeze sometimes too the
edge of it.
![]() The weather seems to be
going backwards again. The clouds are currently
thick enough that it could be hours before any
sunshine peeps through, and the forecast says it
will be mid afternoon before we see any full
sunshine. It is currently shown as being a dry
day, and that is something. The maximum
temperature today could be 19° C, but that may
only be for a single hour, and 18° C for just 3
hours this afternoon. I think it could be back to
long trousers weather. Tomorrow may
feature a lot more sunshine, although it may still
be 1pm before we get full sunshine after a morning
of sunny spells. It could take the temperature up
to 20° C.
Yesterday was a day that turned out OK after a bad start. That bad start was travel problems, and I'll explain that soon, but my alternative plan was actually quite good, even if it was literally a walk in the park. That produced a few good photos to show today. Most of my day, plus most of my night, and some notes about this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Saturday 17th May 2025 |
08:13 BST
Yesterday was almost back to
summer weather, but it was spoiled at times by a very
cool feeling wind (or maybe it was just a strong
breeze !). There was lots of sunshine, and that did
push the temperature up to 20° C.
![]() As per the forecast, it
is rather cold and dull this morning, but the
clouds seem like they may be light enough to break
up later. I don't think it will happen at the
forecast time of 9am - that is only 14 minutes
away as I type this. Assuming we do get the full
sunshine forecast to start at 11am, the
temperature should rise to 20° C - which is good,
but not that good. At the moment it looks like
tomorrow may be a re-run of today, but the
temperature may only reach 19° C, and that seems a
bit poor.
Yesterday could be described as an annoying day, but maybe only a bit of it was really annoying. The laxative pill I took the day before yesterday certainly did it's stuff, and that was not annoying at all, but rather good, although if the visits to the toilet had continued into the afternoon it could have been a bit annoying. The results of the laxative pill have now been described enough, and the rest of my day, and night, and this morning are described in my complete archived page for today. |
Friday 16th May 2025 |
08:33 BST
Yesterday was quite a
miserable day. The promised sunny spells never
happened, and it stayed grey, and rather cool feeling
all day long. The forecast was that the afternoon
should see 19° C, but I think 17° C was closer to
reality.
![]() It should be back to
summer today ! There are still a lot of random
clouds around, but the sun has been shining non
stop for the last hour or so, and the forecast
says we should have full sunshine all day long.
Even with a lively breeze (at times) coming from
the north east, we should still see 20° C today.
Tomorrow may start a bit grey, but if the forecast
has any credibility sunny spells should start from
7am, and by 11am there may be full sunshine for
the rest of the day. The temperature should reach
21° C.
Yesterday morning was very slightly stressful as I waited for my two deliveries from an Amazon order. Otherwise it seemed like a fairly good morning until it became increasingly clear that the weather was going to be horrible all day instead of just a few hours in the morning. The best account of my day, my night, and also this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Thursday 15th May 2025 |
07:45 BST
Yesterday was just like a
summer's day....almost. It may not have been quite as
warm as a good summer's day, but 24° C was pretty
good. It was, of course dry and the sky almost clear
all day.,
![]() The weather takes a
(hopefully) one day holiday today. This morning it
feel quite chilly. The wind makes the current 11°
C feel even colder. It is also very dull outside,
and while no rain is forecast, it does have that
"it might rain later" feel about it. If the
forecast has any credence, the sun should break
through in an hour or two, and then there could be
sunny spells for the rest of the day. It should
raise the temperature up to about 19° C (which I
think is an improvement on yesterday's forecast
for today). Something closer to summer
returns tomorrow. It is currently forecast to be
full sunshine all day, and an afternoon
temperature of 20° C.
Like many Wednesdays, yesterday started off good, but from mid afternoon things dragged a lot. That lead me on to eating a bit more than I should have, or wanted to, but fortunately the outcome of it was not bad at all. Missing the postman was a minor irritation. The good and the bad of my day, plus how I slept, and some notes about this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Wednesday 14th May 2025 |
07:31 BST
Yesterday was dry, very
warm, and very sunny. The temperature may have reached
24° C, although only 23° C was forecast. The alleged
slight chance of a thunderstorm may have been true
elsewhere, but there was hardly a cloud in the sky
around here.
![]() Today should be like a
slightly (one degree) warmer version of yesterday.
The sky is, and should remain blue, and the sun
should be burning down all day long. It may still
only reach 24° C. Tomorrow should stay dry, but
the morning may be very cloudy. The cloud may
start to thin at 1pm, and we'll get the first
sunny spells of the day. 7 and 8pm may feature
full sunshine. It will be a much cooler day, but
not cold. 17° C is forecast.
I think I can describe yesterday as "satisfactory" - again ! It was not very productive, but it was productive enough. I didn't take a lot of advantage of the hot sunshine, but I did take some advantage of it. It was probably the evening that was least productive. As usual, my day, night, and this morning are all described in varying levels of detail in my complete archived page for today. |
Tuesday 13th May 2025 |
08:39 BST
The weather forecast for
yesterday changed a lot. The previous day it said
there would be thunderstorms in the afternoon.
yesterday morning it had reduced that to just 2 hours
of light rain, and as midday approached it said there
would be 3 hours of light rain. The reality was that
it was mostly sunny, and it was dry all day !
The forecast temperature was just 21° C, but I am sure
I saw 24° C on my thermometers. It was actually a very
nice day !
![]() On the BBC news last
night the weather section suggested that there
could be a thunderstorm today, but this morning's
version of the forecast only gives a chance of 8%
of any rain today. For most of the day,
perhaps all daylight hours, there should/could be
blue skies and strong sunshine. For all that only
23° C is predicted. Tomorrow is probably going to
be exactly the same as today with just one small
change - a maximum of just 22° C.
I think I can describe yesterday as "satisfactory" - not as good as good, but not as bad as bad. Maybe satisfactory plus would be more correct. I did some useful stuff, and the day slipped by easily. I even seemed to get to sleep a bit earlier last night. My whole day, such as it was, plus my night and this morning is described in my full archived page for today. |
Monday 12th May 2025 |
08:28 BST
Yesterday could easily have
been mistaken for a summer day. The sun was out most
of the time, and the temperature rose to 25 or even
26° C.
![]() Until mid evening,
yesterday, the advanced forecast for today showed
much more rain, and several lightning bolts, but
this morning it just shows two hours of light
rain. The weather warning does warn of
thunderstorms, but that is a general thing that
seems to cover most of SE England. At the moment I
can see a lot of what I think they call fair
weather cloud, but while it may have slightly
dimmed the sunshine on one occasion, it feels like
we have had almost full sunshine so far this
morning. The chance of rain only rises to 42 and
43% at 2 and 3pm, and that is low enough that
there may not be any rain at all today. It will be
cooler today, but 21° C is still fairly good. The
forecast for tomorrow currently shows full
sunshine from dawn to dusk, and an afternoon
temperature of 23° C.
One thing I forgot to mention in advance was that I knew Jodie was busy, and we would not be having an afternoon beer tasting session. That left me free to do anything I wanted to do. That amounted to almost nothing, but I did do something that painlessly consumed a bit of time. As usual, my day is more fully described, along with my night, and also this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Sunday 11th May 2025 |
09:46 BST
Yesterday was a lovely day -
full sunshine for 95% of daylight hours, and an
afternoon temperature of 23° C
![]() Today may be a better
day than yesterday. This time the forecast admits
there may be a few clouds in the afternoon giving
some short periods without sunshine. The afternoon
temperature may reach 25° C, and possibly more.
Tomorrow should feature loads of sunny spells, but
the temperature may only reach 22° C, and there
could be some rain in the afternoon.
Yesterday was a pretty good day. The weather was very nice, and I managed to get a bit of exercise and sunshine. Unfortunately it seemed quite a tiring day, but by the evening I seemed to get my second wind and couldn't get to sleep until around midnight. My day is described in word and a lot of pictures, plus there are notes about my sleep and this morning, and it can all be seen and read in my complete archived page for today. |
Saturday 10th May 2025 |
08:15 BST
There was a lot more cloud
around than the weather forecast for yesterday
suggested. We did get a lot of sunshine, but it was
still poor by comparison to the dawn to dusk full
sunshine forecast. It is possible that the afternoon
temperature may have risen higher than the 17° C
forecast. All I know is that with the windows closed I
was basking in about 27° C in my bedroom.
![]() This morning has started
with a clear blue sky and full sunshine. That
makes it more believable that we really will get
full sunshine from dawn to dusk today. The
temperature may rise to a nice 23° C today
(although The Met Office says it will only rise to
22° C). Tomorrow should be even warmer with the
temperature peaking at 25° C, but late afternoon
may only see sunny spells instead of full sunshine
the rest of the time.
It is hard to say if yesterday was a good or bad day. It terms of achieving anything I might have suggested I might do, it was a bad day. In terms of learning some stuff it was a mix of good and bad because I didn't learn all I wanted. The also good and bad thing is that the day seemed to slip by painlessly, but it could be said to be a waste of a good day. Most of my day, night and this morning is described in my complete archived page for today. |
Friday 9th May 2025 |
09:29 BST
Yesterday should have been
nice, and at times it was. The morning started off
cold, and rather cloudy, but the cloud did break up,
and the temperature started to rise. At midday it
seemed warm and sunny enough to open my bedroom and
bathroom windows. The temperature reached 17° C, and
that should have been good, but by then we had lost
the sunshine, and even a light breeze felt chilly. I
closed my bedroom window around 2pm, and the bathroom
window a few more hours later when it was very
draughty while using the toilet !
![]() There is still some
cloud around, and it delayed the start of today's
sunshine. There are still a few clouds and a lot
of the sky is a sort of milky colour, but for now
we have full sunshine. If the forecast is correct
it should continue until sunset. It will raise the
temperature to 17° C according to the BBC
forecast, or 19° C according to the Met Office.
Tomorrow should see strong sunshine all day, and
the afternoon could reach 21° C.
Yesterday was not such a bad day, even if the weather seemed not as good as the forecast seemed to predict. One problem is that I sometimes felt tired, and I'll say more about that later. The afternoon beer tasting was better than some, and I'll write more about that too. My entire day is described in a slightly stripped down way, along with my night (with almost x-rated dream) and my morning in my complete archived page for today. |
Thursday 8th May 2025 |
08:10 BST
Yesterday started off rather
cool at just 7° C, but it was bright and sunny. The
forecast predicted only sunny spells, but the sunshine
continued to 10 or 11am. The sunny spells started to
get a bit sparse in the afternoon, and had almost
finished by 3pm. A bit later in the afternoon there
was a time when the clouds became really dark, but it
stayed dry. The afternoon temperature reached 16° C,
but while that would have once felt warm, it didn't
feel warm to me.
![]() So far this morning
there has not been any blue sky, and so no
sunshine. It is actually looking quite grim as I
write this, and over towards the east, where the
sun should be, there is a great big very grey
cloud. It looks more like it could rain ! If
we ever get the sunshine and sunny spells, the
afternoon temperature could reach 17° C. As
I look out the window I find it hard to believe.
No rain is forecast for today, and my bones don't
seem to be aching, and that sort of confirms it,
but the outside has that sort of grey property
that in winter might signify a possible fall of
snow. Tomorrow has a very upbeat forecast. It
currently shows full sunshine from dawn to dusk,
and an afternoon temperature of 18° C - which is
pretty good for a day that might start at 7° C.
I felt quite upbeat yesterday morning, The very idea of it now seems madness because by the afternoon I was feeling extra downbeat. With one exception I felt physically fairly good, but it was interesting that I finished the day with a body temperature of 37.0° C, and I usually only get that hot when ill (despite "normal" being 37.3° C). How my day progressed and ended, plus some notes about last night and this morning can be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Wednesday 7th May 2025 |
07:19 BST
Yesterday felt cool enough
that I put a coat on to go out at around midday when
the temperature was near it's highest at 14° C.
The morning started off very cloudy, but there were
sunny spells later in the morning, and several hours
later than forecast. Once again it got quite cold in
the evening and night. It was a sort of bland day that
avoided all extremes.
![]() It is a nice bright
sunny morning - so far. There are lots of small
clouds to be seen, but so far none have stepped in
front of the sun. Only sunny spells until 3pm are
forecast, and I guess that sooner or later the
sunshine will keep being interrupted by those
clouds. From 4pm the clouds will have thickened
enough to block the sun, and it will be rather
dull. The temperature should rise to a
would-be-warm-if-the wind-was lighter 16° C.
Tomorrow could see roughly as many sunny spells,
but the dull hours will be among them instead of
at the end of the day. It could be a whole degree
warmer tomorrow at 17° C. The day after tomorrow
should see a run of summer-like weather !
Yesterday was another day that featured some good bits. It didn't really feature any bad bits, but a lot of the day was quite bland. I did manage a tiny bit of exercise, but it did not feel as good as hoped - or even good at all ! Somehow I seemed to manage my eating mostly OK. As usual my day is described along with some notes about my sleep and dream, and also this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Tuesday 6th May 2025 |
08:08 BST
Yesterday went through three
phases. The start of the morning was cold and dull.
Late in the morning the clouds thickened, and at
around midday there was some light rain. It may have
lasted for 20 minutes instead of the 5 hours of rain
shown in the forecast. Maybe it was 5pm that the
clouds seemed to disappear, and the last few hours of
daylight were like a summers, although 13° C would be
rather poor for summer. The temperature fell a lot
during the night.
![]() This morning seems to be
very cloudy, but some rays of sunshine have
managed to shine through some small gaps in those
clouds. These rather poor sunny spells are
forecast to finish at 10am, but I am not so sure
they haven't finished 2 hours early. Apart from
maybe at 8pm, the rest of today will be dull, but
maybe not fully gloomy. The afternoon may see 14°
C, but like last night it will be a cold night.
Tomorrow may see sunny spells for most of the day,
and the temperature could rise to 16° C. Summer
could return on Friday !
I felt quite bad yesterday morning, but I slowly started to feel better in the afternoon. I could blame a lot of it on my drinking and eating on Sunday, but I suspect the bigger culprit could have been the weather. In fact that may have even contributed to my excesses on Sunday. I seemed to write quite a lot about yesterday, plus notes about my sleep, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Monday 5th May 2025 |
09:00 BST
It was far sunnier yesterday
than the weather forecast predicted. The forecast said
just three hours of sunny spells from sunrise, but it
was more like almost 6 or 7 hours of full sunshine.
The afternoon was generally dull, and the wind from
the north east was quite chilly without the sunshine.
The maximum afternoon temperature was forecast to be
just 13° C, and that was probably right. The
temperature fell to around 7° C by midnight.
![]() The forecast for today
has gone through many changes in the last 24
hours, but essentially it still remains as "not
very nice". I expected today to start only a
degree or two away from a frost, but the lwoest I
noticed was 8° C, but the forecasts aid 7° C. The
main thing that has kept changing is the amount of
rain. I think we can be sure there is going to be
some today. The very latest revision shows light
rain from 11am to 3pm now. There could be sunny
spells from 5pm until sunset. It will be another
cold day with a maximum of 13° C. Tomorrow
could be grey for a lot of the afternoon, but at
other times there could be sunny spells. It may be
a while one degree warmer than today (14° C).
I thought I felt fairly good yesterday, and that was a good improvement over the day before. It didn't last. By 10pm I was feeling pretty bad. The reasons for this will be explained later in today's narrative (or whatever this verbal diarrhoea is called). All the important bits of yesterday, plus my night, and also some of this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Sunday 4th May 2025 |
09:49 BST
Yesterday was a lot better
than the weather forecast predicted. There seemed to
be almost full sunshine instead of just sunny spells,
and also while no sunshine at all was predicted. Just
sunny spells did start late in the afternoon, and at
the same time the wind seemed to grow very chilly. The
afternoon peaked at 21° C, but soon after the
temperature seemed to drop a lot. It was a cold night.
![]() The forecast says there
should have only been sunny spells until 9am, but
it is 10am as I write this, and there has been
almost non stop sunshine. It is getting cloudy
now, but there is still plenty of blue sky to be
seen between the clouds. The peak afternoon
temperature is shown as just 13° C, but I am
wondering if it might be a bit higher. On the
other hand there is a fair wind and it is coming
from the north or north east - a cold direction
usually. It should stay dry today. A lot
of tomorrows forecast looks like today, but with
two important changes. The afternoon could see 15°
C, and from 3pm there could be sunny spells.
I didn't feel that good yesterday morning, and maybe even later in the day, but I did manage to achieve enough to say I had a fairly good day. Although I did end up making a few not very clever things in my food consumption. It wasn't terrible, but did spoil things a bit. My entire day, or as much as can be described, plus my night and the start of this morning, is all more fully described in my complete archived page for today. |
Saturday 3rd May 2025 |
08:30 BST
Yesterday was a less
glorious day, but still rather good with plenty of
full sunshine until mid afternoon. From id afternoon
it got quite cloudy, and at about 6pm, when there was
a small chance of rain, the sky was looking very grey,
but the last two hours of daylight had a fairly blue
sky. The temperature peaked at about 26° C.
![]() Today is going to be
cooler, and with less sunshine than recent days,
it still might be a good day though.
Rather than sunny intervals, as per the forecast,
I would describe it as generally non stop hazy
sunshine for now. The cloud is thin enough to let
attenuated sunshine through. This afternoon the
temperature may briefly peak at 21° C Clear skies
tonight will mean it is going to be chilly
tonight. The rot really sets in tomorrow, and the
weather will revert to something more akin to
early spring. The day may start at 8° C, and then
only reach 13° C. There will be a few hours of
sunny spells in the morning, but from 11am it will
be grey until a few sunny spells just before
sunset. It should stay dry.
I think that yesterday I was suffering from a very low key hangover from Thursday's beer session. Nothing hurt, but I seemed to have almost lost the will to do anything. Saying nothing hurt is probably not accurate, and "feeling my age" is more the truth. Somehow I did find the will to do at least one and a half things. These and other stuff about yesterday, last night and this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Friday 2nd May 2025 |
08:56 BST
Yesterday was another
glorious day with plenty of full sunshine. For the
first time it actually felt hot as the temperature hit
it's peak of 28° C.
![]() This morning started off
very mild, even mildly warm at 16° C. I'm unsure
if there was full sunshine at 7am, but there
definitely is now, and it should, or could, last
until 2pm when we may only have sunny spells until
sunset. It is possible we may get a shower at 6pm.
The temperature should peak at 25° C. That is not
as good as yesterday, but still pretty good.
Tomorrow may only see sunny spells, and will be a
few degrees cooler. Just 21° C is forecast, but
that is still just t-shirt weather. After tomorrow
the weather reverts for what we are told is more
typical for May. That mostly means temperatures
under 20° C (but maybe not by much) for a couple
of weeks.
Yesterday was another mixed day - mostly good, but it went wrong in the evening, or more accurately, I went wrong in the evening, and of course booze was to blame......at least 50% ! This morning I don't feel like writing much, but possibly will. I seem to have kept it down to 1,252 words today, and you can read all of them in my complete archived page for today. |
Thursday 1st May 2025 |
07:51 BST
Yesterday was another
glorious day with plenty of full sunshine. For the
first time it actually felt like it was starting to
get hot as the temperature hit it's peak of 25° C.
![]() May has started with
full sunshine, and what a month or so ago we might
have described as warm - 12° C. Another day of
full sunshine and it should push the temperature
up to 28° C. There could be one tiny fly in the
ointment - note the 6% chance of rain at 4pm.
There could be a splash of rain today, but it is a
very low chance, and warm rain would not be that
bothersome anyway (or not if it is all over inside
of one hour). Tomorrow could start even warmer
this morning. The current version of the forecast
says 16° C at 6am. It seems there may not be full
sunshine all day - the afternoon could be mostly
sunny spells. The afternoon temperature may only
reach 26° C, but that is still very comfortable.
Yesterday was another mostly good day. Some things were good because they were bad, and some things were bad because they were good. These paradoxes and enigmas may be explained somewhere in all the scribble I am about to write about my day. Most of my whole day, including my sleep last night, and a few notes about this morning can be read in my complete archived page for today. |
