Yesterday
was generally dull, but it was
dry...I think. Maybe I do have a
hazy memory of a light shower
sometime during the day. The
temperature rose to just 20° C, and
it did feel a bit cool from time to
time.
There has already been a light
shower this morning that is not shown
on the forecast (above). From 2pm
there is a 0% chance of rain forecast,
but before that that figure is not 0%,
but as high as 19% for some hours.
Apart from maybe 8pm, there would seem
to be no chance of seeing any sunshine
today, but the temperature could reach
24° C. Tomorrow may be a rather wet
day, and because it is a BBC forecast
there are thunderstorms shown from
11am to 7pm. Few if any are likely to
happen, it's just that the BBC love
their thunderstorms. Many might even
disappear in later revisions to the
forecast. It will be another cool day
with the temperature only reaching 21°
C, but even that may change in later
revisions.
Yesterday was another busy day,
and this morning is going to be a busy
morning. Yesterday it was mostly photo
editing, and today it will be other
stuff. Most important will be waiting
for a call from my doctor - possibly
at 11:40am, but it could be later.
I did not write that much
yesterday, but adding quite a few
pictures took some time, and that is
going to be the case today. After I
finished writing I had my usual little
rest, and then had a shower. I then
got ready to go shopping in Tesco
where I bought quite a bit of stuff
that I probably shouldn't have....and
yet it was all so nice ! My legs felt
a bit stiff walking to and from Tesco,
but it didn't slow me up much.
I bought several things from
the "reduced price" (nearing their
sell by date) shelf in Tesco, and
three of them made up my semi big, and
not terribly healthy dinner. I had a
pack of egg and cress sandwiches. A
pack of cheesy bean wraps, and finally
a rather big brioche Emmental cheese
and Mortadella sandwich. It looked
big, but it was quite "fluffy" and
didn't seem to survive too many bits
before it was all finished.
After lunch I had another rest,
and then I realised that time had been
slipping past far to easily. I think
it might have been gone 2pm before I
got back to my photo editing. It
seemed to need more concentration than
I had at first, and it was slow going.
As 5pm approached (possibly a bit
earlier) I treated myself to a big
glass (maybe a quintuple !) of whisky
and ice. It was the first whisky I
have enjoyed at home for quite some
time, but it did the trick !
One thing I noticed was that my
photography seemed to improve by the
time (5pm) that Big Red Bus took to
the stage. this picture of Geoff Paice
seemed to come out well. Maybe the
light had improved and it was nothing
to do with me, but I am sure it must
have been partly me.
Maybe it was just me getting
back into the swing of it, and feeling
comfortable going in close, or getting
on the stage for more interesting
shots, that helped a lot, although I
was still battling the poor light.
Many photos still only had scrap
value, but I was quite happy with this
shot of Patsi Paice.
Going on stage, keeping behind
the main people at the front, was the
only way I got this shot of Gary
Wilson playing drums for Big Red Bus.
I feel quite privileged to be trusted
to "invade" the stage, but it is a
trust that has been built up over many
years. I am barely noticed these days
even when using my big flash gun.
Moving on to 6pm, and it was
time for Vince Lightning to take to
the stage (without his
Thunderboltz). He was joined by
his wife, seen on the right here, Dawn
Pross, plus a bass player who I
recognised, but can't put a name to,
and a guitarist that I don't think I
have ever seen before.
Apart from the guitar player
playing a typical rock and roll era
style guitar (I think), he does not
look like a rock and roller. Actually,
Vince was very light on old style rock
and roll this time. It is hard to
describe what it is/was, but I know
that some of it was original songs he
had composed.
This is the entire Vince
Lightning band as seen through my wide
angle, fish eye lens (although heavily
cut to not show the picture distortion
on the edges). It was the only way to
get everyone in the picture between
the two roof support pillars of the
stage that make a clear view
impossible, On the right of the
picture is the bas player. I recognise
him, but can't think of his name. He
is sitting down because he recently
broke one of his legs, and it was
amazing he was able to play on the
day.
The last band I saw were The
Coyles. They were on at 7pm, and by
then I had been at Chatt Fest,
standing up for 99% of the time, for 6
hours, and I felt ready to drop. I
made a point of getting at least a few
pictures of The Coyles before I left
to get the bus home.
There was another reason for
not staying later. The Coyles play
typical Irish folk music, and it is
not to my taste. Many do like it, and
even dance around to it, but not me !
The odd thing is that I don't seem to
remember them being so bad the
previous year (or two). Maybe they get
the worst over early in the set, and
play some more recognisable stuff
later.
Once I had got started doing
these, and quite a few more, photos, I
only stopped to watch the BBC 6
O'clock news, and have a simple cheese
salad as the main part of my dinner. I
also had a very limited amount of an
extremely delicious ice cream. It was
a Tesco own brand Sicilian Lemon, and
Limocello flavour ice cream. Oddly
enough it was not heavily loaded with
sugar, although the amount of sugar in
it was not trivial !
Instead of watching the two
Star Treks on after the news, The Next
Generation and Deep Space Nine, I
switched off the TV and went back to
the photo editor. By 9pm I had
finished all the photos taken on the
first day of Chat Fest. I have no idea
when I will find the time to go
through the second day. I maybe could
have made a start yesterday, but I
chose to watch Have I Got News For
You.
I went to bed when that
finished at 10pm. I read a few pages
from my current book, and then fell
asleep almost instantly - at least I
don't seem to remember a thing after
closing my eyes. It was a very bland
night, and I hardly remember getting
up to pee several or more times in the
night, although I am sure I must have
done so. At 4am I do remember waking
up for a pee, and thinking it was
starting to get cool in my bedroom
(although it wasn't really), and I put
the heater on low.
That extra warmth seemed to
send me into a deeper sleep, and I
woke up late on a morning I wanted an
early start, and I was just staring to
feel a bit sweaty (but not enough for
any sweat to run). I went for a pee,
and managed a small poo. When I
weighed myself I was a bit surprised
to see I had only put on 100gm. I had
expected a lot more than that. It is
as if I am going through a period
where my body is self regulating.
It certainly seem to be the
case that I might be entering another
period of nice low blood glucose
readings - all without actually being
careful of my sugar intake - and
particularly after having the lemon
ice cream late in the day. The Contour
meter read 7.9mmol/l, and that was
rather good. The GlucoRX meter read a
very surprising 7.4mmol/l. It has been
almost a fortnight since I got a
reading that low. The Contour Plus
meter let me down with a reading of
8.4mmol/l, although that is still less
than my previous target of 8.5mmol/l.
Even my blood pressure is very
good this morning. It was 114/8. Today
is like yesterday - all my measurable
health aspects are looking good, and
yet I don't feel that good, although
maybe not as bad as yesterday. A bit
of sunshine would probably tip the
balance into a positive direction. It
feels like a very busy morning,
although I seem to be finishing my
writing earlier than many mornings.
I have several very important
things to do this morning. The first
will be to wring out a towel, and a
pair of shorts that I left in soak
yesterday. When I have wrung them out
I will be able to have a shower, and
wash my hair. I can then leave the
towel and shorts to soak in their
first rinse water. Once I am washed
and dressed I can wait for a phone
call from my doctor to discuss my
echocardiogram results.
That should be at
11:40am, but could be later if she is
over running. Hopefully it will be bad
news, because bad news (hopefully)
means that something will be done
about it that will eventually get me
back in good working condition again.
Once the phone call is over I will be
walking through the park for my
regular Wednesday lunchtime in The
Jolly Farmers.
