 10:13 BST

Yesterday started out very wet, and there was one very heavy downpour of rain. it was probably at 11am when a thunderstorm was forecast, but there was no thunderstorm, and the very heavy rain only lasted 5 or 10 minutes. There were nice sunny spells in the afternoon, and I think they started before the forecast time of 2pm. The temperature only rose to 18° C, and it did seem to feel a bit cool when the sunshine suggested it should feel warm.
  BBC_weather forecast
This morning has definitely started with bright sunshine, but it may only last until 11am. From 11am there could be sunny spells until sunset. The temperature is a bit cool as I write this, but may hit 21° C for one hour at 4pm. It should stay dry all day, and also tomorrow. There will be plenty of strong sunshine tomorrow, and the afternoon temperature could reach 21° C again, but it may last for 4 hours this time.

This morning I have started writing extra late. The reason has it's roots in the early hours of the morning, but I can't seem to blame it on any one thing. Yesterday was not a great day, but it wasn't bad, and some of it was enjoyable. Even what I ate was nice, but maybe the home cooked late night burger was a bad idea.......

If I recall correctly, I didn't feel that bad yesterday morning (although looking at several obvious spelling mistakes I made yesterday suggests I was not in good form). Once I had finished writing, and had my usual short rest afterwards, I tackled the first and maybe only essential job of the morning. It was to finish washing a small hand towel. It had been soaking in detergent for most of the previous day, and overnight.

As usual (for a towel) it needed something like a dozen rinses, but being only a small hand towel it was not as arduous a job as it could have been. It still took a while to do, and by the time I had it hanging up to dry, and then washing myself under the shower, it seemed the morning was over. Fortunately I did not have much to do to get the place ready for an afternoon beer tasting with Jodie, and later on, Michael.

One slight interruption was from the big fluffy (but only big because of all the fluffy fur) cat I see in the garden, and even by the road on a few rare occasions. It was the day before yesterday (I think) that I heard a meow, and saw it just about to jump off the fence into next doors garden. I thought it was just saying hello, but it was probably trying to get my attention - which it did yesterday morning/very early afternoon.

Yesterday it jumped up onto the kitchen window ledge and said hello. I opened the back door to go out and say hello back, and it (probably a neutered tom cat) asked to come in. This time I let it. It had a good sniff around the kitchen, paying particular attention to where I knew there were once mouse nests, but evidently it thought there were no mice in residence (which was good) and wanted to explore further. While it was still sniffing around the kitchen I went and closed the dining room door (out to the hall) and let the cat have a look around the dining room.

I was happy it didn't seem to find anything of particular interest in the dining room, although it was interested in the box I still had some cans of beers in. Had that box been empty it would probably have got in the box, and called it home - as cats are wont to do ! To lure it back to the kitchen, and near the door into the garden, I gave it a couple of treats. They were cheese flavoured pork kabanos. It rather liked them. I threw the second one outside, and closed the kitchen door with the cat outside.

The cat (whose name I have not thought of yet, and I have no idea what his actual name my be) effortlessly jumped up on the brown, garden waste, wheelie bin, and because it had had some sun on it, it was still warm - the perfect place for a cat nap. I think it was still snoozing when Jodie arrived. I opened the back door so I could introduce the cat to Jodie and vice versa. To do so I picked it up to show how friendly it was, and while holding at what I hoped was a suitable angle, I asked Jodie to see if she could see any signs of it's gender. She could not see clearly because of that long fur, but suspected it was a neutered male.

That deserved another treat, and once again it devoured another pork and cheese kabanos. I left the doors open, except the dinning room door that would let it into the rest of the house, so it could roam freely in the kitchen and dining room. The only annoyance is that with 100 photo opportunities, I completely forget to get a picture of it. I can't imagine that it will be long before another opportunity arises, and I will be able to show a picture of it here.

Maybe it was because of the cat, but Jodie seemed to be in a semi talkative mood for a while. A bit later, after the cat had decided to go out again because we were mostly ignoring it, Jodie got stuck behind her phone, and there was not a lot of conversation after that. That changed when Michael turned up. I was partly expecting him, but he made it sound unlikely that he would join us.

Originally he said he had to take his wife to and from hospital. She had been fitted with a 24 hour blood pressure, and ecg recorder the day before, and yesterday it was removed. I've had one as well, and it is no big deal if you are able to go to and from the hospital yourself. I could, but Michael's wife needed assistance (and probably a car ride - I walked). He was anticipating a lot of fuss - particularly getting her settled back in the care home.

I think there was less fuss because although it was late, about 5:40pm, he sent me a text message to check it was still OK for him to pop in for a quick drink. It was still not quite 6pm when he rang my doorbell, and he came in for more than a quick drink. I think he had a couple of bottles, and Jodie delayed her departure, and got the train after the one she was going to get (which was only 15 minutes later).

Just before Michael arrived I had put two beef and cheese burgers in my mini oven to cook. I had anticipated eating than just after 6pm while watching the BBC news. It was actually more like 7pm when I ate them. By then they were no more than lukewarm. I had them in two Italian style rolls (the type with huge bubbles in the dough) along with some sliced dill pickles. They may have been nicer if they were still hot, but they seemed nice enough, but there was a catch, and it would be a few hours before I found what it was.

Everyone had left (including the cat) when I sat down to eat my dinner while watching Star Trek: Voyager (or was it Deep Space Nine ?). The two burgers were nice, but with them almost cold by then, the fat was starting to congeal (although much of it had run off while being grilled), and maybe that made them a bit stodgy. I still seemed to enjoy them, but after more TV I started to do some acid burps, and before long I had bad heartburn, The usual remedies helped, but didn't seem to cure this time.

I went to bed not feeling that great, and I was also getting a few hints/feelings that I might be heading to vomiting it all up. That never happened, but the general discomfort stopped me falling asleep. After a while the other end seemed to start complaining. It started with a few really stinky farts, and then I went to try and have a poo. I was not expecting to actually have one, but I most emphatically did !  I have never done such a big poo in such a short period of time. Some of it was fairly solid and some much looser, but it was all ejected, even gas propelled out in about 5 seconds.

That was a bit of a shock, but I looked on the bright side, and assumed I would be comfortable enough to drop off to sleep almost instantly, but the heart burn, and continued occasional acid tasting burps kept me awake. I did have a couple of short snoozes, but I think it was around 4am before I got some real sleep, but even that was interrupted by the feeling I might need another poo, and definitely needed a pee.

I woke, and got up at 6am - after just 2 hours of good-ish sleep. I updated the weather forecasts so I could take screen shots later, and I checked my blood glucose and weight. Both were a bit high, but not too bad. Admittedly my "official weight" is recorded after getting on the scales before I had breakfast, but that was a lot later in the morning than usual. After that I seemed to be able to claim I only put on 100gm since yesterday.

My blood glucose was actually lower than yesterday, but not by much. The Contour meter read 8.0mmol/l, and yesterday it was 8.4mmol/l. A small but useful drop to a pretty fair reading. The GlucoRX meter read 8.7mmol/l, and that was exactly the same as yesterday. It is OK, but higher than I would desire. The GlucoFix meter read 8.6mmol/l. That is OK, but I would still prefer it lower.

After these measurements I went back to bed. I did not really expect to do anything worse than maybe a 10 minutes snooze, but I think it was 9:25am when I woke up - much later than usual. It was then that I went to the toilet again, and lost enough extra weight to get my weight gain down to just 100gm compared to yesterday morning. I then went down to get my breakfast ready, two small packets of instants noodles in the same bowl. If the cat had been waiting for me it had given up by the time I had gone down to the kitchen.

It is lucky there is zero I have to do today because I don't feel terribly keen on doing anything today. The early morning sunshine, and it is still sunny as I wrote this at 11:51am, had some pull on me for going on a walk, but I no longer feel that pull now. It is possible I might still go for a walk later on, but it seems only a slight possibility. There is a fair chance I may have a very lazy day today. Maybe if tomorrow does see non stop full sunshine I will have to make a bigger effort at doing something in the sunshine.
