My Electronic Diary For June 2026

Monday 1st June 2026
08:31 BST

After a couple of sunny spells soon after sunrise, yesterday was a grey day until about 8pm when there were a few more sunny spells as the sun peeped over the edge of the world before finally setting. The afternoon temperature reached 22° C, and with no sunshine it straddled the line between cool and hot. By midnight the temperature had dropped to 16° C, and fell a bit more through the night.

We start the month of June with weather which would have been more appropriate to May. This morning featured a chilly wind blowing in my window even if the thermometer said it was 14° C outside. A few sunny spells may help to warm things up this morning, but they finished around 8am. Until 5pm it will be dull, but the afternoon may still see 20° C. After 5pm it is forecast that we will get wet. Mostly light rain is expected from then on, and into the night. A few hours may feature heavy rain, but I should be safely tucked up in bed when that happens. The BBC are having that fantasy about thunderstorms again. There could be a thunderstorm as early as 4am tomorrow morning, and more in the morning and afternoon. The afternoon temperature tomorrow may only reach 19° C. It could be dry after 9pm tomorrow.

Yesterday was, in some respects a good day, but it wasn't good all the time. On the plus side I did some shopping, and I did some laundry. I must admit that still left quite a few hours to be bored in. Despite few attractions I thought I managed to control my eating quite well, but I did make one tragic mistake. My complete description, or all I can remember, of yesterday can be read, along with notes about this morning, in my complete archived page for yesterday.
