0839 BST
Yesterday started off
very wet, but the rain stopped a bit before midday,
and maybe a bit earlier than that. From midday we had
sunny spells, and even some full sunshine just before
sunset. The afternoon only reached 15° C because of
cool winds from the north, but it still felt mild
enough to go out in t-shirt and shorts. After dark the
temperature dropped a lot. By 1am this morning it was
just 9° C.
![]() It was just 8° C at
6am this morning, thanks to clear skies. That also
meant that we had full sunshine a couple of hours
later when the sun had risen. The full
sunshine this morning will probably change to just
sunny spells for the afternoon. More cold winds from
the north mean that no amount of sunshine could
raise the afternoon temperature above 14° C today.
Once again it is going to be a cold night. There
will be more cloud tomorrow morning and that should
help the temperature stop going below 9° C. There
may be some sunny spells tomorrow morning, but the
afternoon may only reach 13° C, and the afternoon
could see rain or drizzle.
Yesterday seemed like a satisfactory day. It had one downside, and few upsides, but passed smoothly. I guess the day ended well, and that made for a good start to this morning. My complete description of yesterday, plus some notes about the following morning, can be read in my complete archived page for the day. |

0911 BST
Yesterday was mostly a
grey day, but there was some sunshine in the morning
that was not shown in the forecast. There were some
sunny spells very late in the afternoon too. Even
without a lot of sunshine the afternoon reached 20° C
thanks to warm winds from the south west..
![]() This morning, as
predicted in the forecast, there has been some quite
heavy rain. It seems to have stopped now, but it is
still very grey outside. By midday we may get some
sunny spells that may turn into full sunshine at 5pm
- just as the sun starts to set. Even with the sunny
spells, we can only expect 15° C this afternoon
thanks to the wind shifting to come from the north.
The rest of today should be dry. The clear skies
that will bring the very late afternoon sunshine
will also be responsible for the temperature dipping
to single figures, maybe as low as 8° C by 4am
tomorrow morning. Fortunately tomorrow may start
with sunshine, followed by sunny spells. It may only
warm the afternoon up to 14° C. We are now seeing
late autumn weather now !
Yesterday started with me feeling terrible. I am sure it was a bad reaction to the 'flu vaccine I had the day before. It really felt like I had 'flu with all the aches and pains that go with it. I improved a lot during the day, but even today I am not sure I am 100%, but it might just be the weather today. My day is more fully described, and a few noes added about this morning, and all can be read in my complete archived page about yesterday. |

0939 BST
Yesterday started off
with some sunshine that helped warm the day up to 19°
C by mid afternoon. From 1pm there were only a few
sunny spells, but it stayed dry. From 4pm the
temperature started to drop, but it only briefly (at
11pm) went below 15° C.
![]() The forecast for
today shows a dull start to the day, but as I type
this the sun is shining. There is a fair bit of blue
sky to be seen, and so this is not a solitary sunny
spell. Maybe a few more sunny spells will make this
afternoon a degree or two warmer than the forecast,
and rather good for the time of year, 20° C. A
couple of sunny spells are shown for early evening,
and clear skies after midnight. That should mean a
very cold night, but the forecast still predicts 15°
C for the small hours of tomorrow
morning.....however. The latest update shows not
just cloud, but rain from 4am tomorrow morning. The
rain may finish after 9am, and the rest of tomorrow
should see sunny spells, and even full sunshine for
the last couple of hours of daylight. The afternoon
may be just 15° C, and I guess that is more typical
for this time of year.
I start today by going back to the day before yesterday when a mini calamity happened that left it's mark on the start of yesterday. That and yesterday, but no notes about this morning (just for a change) is all described, with a few pictures, in my complete archived page for today. |

0905 BST
Yesterday started off
almost warm, but it was very dull, and damp looking,
but I only saw rain falling at around midday. After
that the sun broke through, and the rest of the
daylight hours were warm and sunny. The afternoon
reached 20° C - which was rather good for almost
mid October !
![]() This morning it is bright and
sunny, or it is now. I think it was slightly dull an
hour or two ago. My thermometers say the current
temperature is just under 12° C. By midday the
sunshine may give way to just sunny spells, and not
too many of them. The afternoon should reach 19° C.
Tonight the temperature will fall to 15° C in the
early hours of tomorrow. Tomorrow morning may be
dull, but the afternoon should see some sunny
spells, and tomorrow afternoon could rise as high as
20° C.
At 10:40am today I am due to see the nurse at the group practice, and I may have to take a break in writing this, and finish it after I get back.....except I didn't. All I did manage to write before going to my appointment with the diabetes nurse, can be read in my incomplete diary for Wednesday 14th October. |

0806 BST
Yesterday did not
start as cold as the day before, but 13° C was low
enough to need some heating on (in fact I think I had
the heater on low all night !). As midday approached
there was some light rain or drizzle, but it did not
amount to much, although the very dull sky was
depressing. From 2pm (according to the forecast, and
that was possibly correct) the rain finished, and the
rest of the day was dry, but it was still quite gloomy
out. By 3pm the temperature peaked at 17° C, and only
fell to 16° C at 11pm.
![]() All morning it has
looked damp outside, but I haven't seen any rain
falling. If the forecast is correct it could start
any minute now ! By 1pm the thick and heavy clouds
will have left to leave full on sunshine
(hopefully). This afternoon may reach 20° C, and
that is pretty warm for mid October. The temperature
will start to slowly fall at 4pm, and by 4am
tomorrow morning it will have fallen to just 12° C.
Tomorrow may start (6am) at just 10° C, but the
clear sky that let the temperature drop so much,
also means lots of sunshine once the sun is a bit
higher in the sky. Tomorrow afternoon may only see
sunny spells, but it should reach 18° C.
Yesterday started with the sort of excitement I could do without, but once that was out of the way it was a fairly good start to the day. The afternoon was a bit dull, and the evening was not so nice. My night was even worse, and as for this morning... I'll come to that later ! My day, night, plus some notes about this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page about yesterday. |

0908 BST
It 9was a cold start
to yesterday, just 9° C. There were some sunny spells,
and even some very slightly hazy sunshine , followed
by more sunny spells to get the afternoon up to a mere
15° C. That was that sort of in-between temperature -
neither cold nor warm. After 5pm it started to cool
off, and y the small hours of this morning itw as down
to 12° C.
![]() So far this morning
it has not been that gloomy, but it is now turning
that way. The forecast says the clouds will thicken
from about now (as I write these words), and before
long we can expect some light rain and drizzle. Most
of the afternoon, and then the evening, will be very
dull, but maybe dry. The small hours of this morning
will be very mild with 16° C predicted. Tomorrow may
start at 17° C, and by 11pm it could be 19° C - and
raining ! There may only be a couple of hours when
it rains. From 2pm tomorrow, we may see full
sunshine, and the late afternoon reaching 20° C !
Yesterday was a better day than expected, but maybe only because of one thing. Later in the afternoon we (me and Jodie) had a beer tasting session. The full description of yesterday (or at least anything I can remember, and that seems worth noting down) can be read in my complete archived page for today, which also includes the usual notes about this morning. |

0911 BST
It was a cold start to
yesterday, just 10° C. Fortunately some strong
sunshine, and sunny spells got the temperature up to
14° C by the afternoon. Unfortunately, the afternoon
was fairly dull, and the temperature did not rise any
higher. After sunset the temperature dropped again to
give another rather cool night.
![]() At 6am the
temperature was just 9° C, but like yesterday it is
bright and sunny this morning. I must admit the
sunshine is a surprise because most of the sky is
covered in thin cloud. The first half of this
afternoon should see some sunny spells, and that may
help the temperature to rise to 15° C. Tonight will
not be as cold as last night, but it is still going
to be chilly. Tomorrow may start at 13° C, and also
with thick cloud. Not a single ray of sunshine is
forecast for tomorrow, but a lot of light rain is
forecast.....although the chances of that rain are
fairly low for most of the time, and just one single
hour shows a still low chance of 42%. The afternoon
may be 17° C, with a brief peak of 18° C at 6pm.
Yesterday I admitted that while I could do a few things, I had the choice of being very lazy all day long. That was the route I took. There were still a few notable things I did yesterday, and I have written about them, plus some notes about this morning, in my complete archived page about yesterday. |

1013 BST
Yesterday
started at 16° C, and it was dry, but it didn't
stay that way. The afternoon was quite wet, although
it was persistent light rain rather than anything
heavy. The afternoon reached 18° C. After sunset the
temperature fell to 12° C by 11pm. It fell a bit more
during the night.
![]() At 6am the
temperature was just 10° C. This morning the sky is
clear, and as I write this there is strong sunshine.
The forecast only predicts sunny spells, and maybe
the sunshine will turn into sunny spells later in
the morning. The afternoon may be dull, but from 4pm
the sunny spells may return. The afternoon may only
reach 14° C.It will be another cold night with the
temperature down to 10° C in the small hours.
Tomorrow may start at just 9° C, but there may be
some sunny spells to warm the day up a little, but
most of the afternoon will be dull. Just 15° C is
forecast for the afternoon.
Yesterday was a fairly dull day, as in not a lot happened. I did a few minor things, and I tried to eat sensibly, but both failed and succeeded. I'll explain that much further down the page ! My complete page for yesterday explains it all, plus it includes the usual notes about this morning. |
| Friday 9th October 2026 |

0838 BST
Yesterday started at
just 8° C, because of clear skies. That also meant it
was a very sunny start to the day, and the full
sunshine continued until almost sunset. It only took
the afternoon temperature up to 14° C, but in the
strong sunshine that didn't feel too bad. The
forecast predicted that from midnight it would rain,
and I certainly saw it all wet outside when I peeked
out some time in the small hours.
![]() The overnight rain
has stopped now, but it still looks rather grey
outside. By midday the cloud may be thicker, and 6
hours of light rain are forecast. The afternoon may
be 18° C - warmer than yesterday, but under a gloomy
sky, and rain it may well feel chilly. The small
hours of tomorrow morning should see clear skies,
and by 2am the temperature may drop to just 11° C,
and it may still be falling. The forecast for
tomorrow shows 10° C at 6am. The day may see some
sunny spells, but much of it may be dull. Tomorrow
afternoon may peak at just 14° C.
Yesterday was generally a good day with the odd not so good bit. Highlights include a shopping trip to Aldi, and the late afternoon beer tasting session. The full description of my day, plus a few notes about this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today. |

0933 BST
No mist yesterday
morning, but there was rain, and lots of it. The
forecast said it would continue to 6pm. I don't know
it it continued to 6pm, or even if it continued later
than that. The afternoon, as well as being nasty and
wet, was just 14° C. After dark the temperature fell
even further.
![]() This morning, and
indeed most of the early hours of this morning, were
rather cold with the temperature down to 8° C. Right
now the sky is mostly blue, and we have bright
sunshine. The forecast says it should continue
almost until sunset. Sadly, it may only warm the
afternoon up to just 14° C. Autumn seems to have
started early ! At sunset the sky will start to
cloud over, and that will keep the temperature up,
but from midnight we can expect more rain. The rain
may have stopped by 6am tomorrow morning, when it
will be 14° C, but it will resume at midday
tomorrow. The afternoon will be not only wet, but it
will be warmer than today with 18° C predicted.
Yesterday was not a terribly exciting day, but I have described most of it, and added the usual notes about this morning, and it can be read in my complete archived page for yesterday. |

0834 BST
Yesterday started
with mist, and it was almost thick enough to be called
fog for a while, but by mid morning it had dispersed.
Until late afternoon it was very dull, but we finally
had a few hours of sunny spells from about 4pm. It was
at 4pm that the temperature peaked at 21° C.
![]() Today should have
started with rain, and it certainly looks like it
could rain, but for the moment it is still dry. If
it rains, and with a 100% chance of rain forecast
for 11am, it seems it will, that rain could be very
heavy this afternoon. It is currently 16° C, and the
forecast says it will get colder. This afternoon
could see just 14° C, and it will get even cooler.
By 2am it could be down to just 9° C. Tomorrow could
start at just 8° C (at 6am), but it may be a very
sunny day. The afternoon may still only reach 15° C.
When I think back to yesterday I feel that it was actually a fair day. I may not have done anything that dramatic, but the day seemed to pass smoothly, and I two good things come to mind. These and a few other notes about the day, and also this morning, can be read in my complete archived paged about yesterday. |

0741 BST
Once again,
yesterday was supposed to start with mist, but it was
definitely a bright and cheerful start - first sunny
spells, and then an hour of full sunshine for the
afternoon. The temperature peaked at about 21° C. No
rain was forecast, and no rain fell.
![]() Once again mist was
forecast, and this morning it is very misty. It
should lift in a few hours to reveal a fairly grey
day. There could be some sunny spells after 4pm, and
4pm could see the temperature reach it's peak today
of 21° C again. It should be a a dry day, and the
night will not get so cool as recent nights. At 1am
it will only fall to 16° C, and probably no lower
for much of the small hours, but by 6am tomorrow
morning it could be down to 15° C. Tomorrow looks to
be a wet day, and the morning may start with
drizzle. The rest of the day will see mostly light
rain, but there could be the odd hour with some
heavier rain. Tomorrow afternoon may only see 15° C,
and by 3pm it could be down to just 14° C. By 3am on
the day after tomorrow, it could be down to just 9°
C. It can be long until the first morning frost.
Yesterday was another sort of bland day. Nothing of any great significance happened. I guess there were a few things worth a note, and my day is more fully described in my complete archived page for yesterday, and which includes the usual notes about this morning. |

0903 BST
Yesterday was
supposed to start with mist, but I didn't see any. It
was definitely a bright and cheerful start - first
sunny spells, and then full sunshine for the
afternoon. The temperature peaked at about 21° C. No
rain was forecast, and no rain fell.
![]() Once again mist was
forecast, but it is sunny at the moment -
rather earlier than forecast, although the sky is
far from clear at the moment. To the north there are
a mixture of white fluffy clouds, and some fair
sized patches of blue. To the south the sky looks
more messy - a patchwork of greys and milky white.
It is surprising the sun has found some clear paths
to shine through. It may get clearer soon, and the
afternoon may see far more sunshine, including a
couple of hours of full sunshine The afternoon may
peak at 21° C again. It looks to be another cold
night. Tomorrow may start at 13° C. Much of tomorrow
may be grey, but there could be a few sunny spells
from late afternoon. The temperature may peak at 20°
C.
Yesterday was a semi good day, but maybe because after about 8 or 9 days of being teetotal (and I have no real idea why) I finally had a few beers. This and more is described, with added notes about the next morning, in my complete archived page for the day. |
| Sunday 4th October 2026 |
|
0918 BST
Yesterday started
bright, but from the start of the afternoon it was
quite dull. Thanks to warm winds from the west,
the afternoon still managed to rise to 20° C.
Some drizzle was forecast for 8pm, but by then it was
fully dark outside, and i may not have noticed it if
indeed it did rain.
![]() This morning mist
was forecast, and earlier in the small hours there
was supposed to be fog, but it was clear as a bell
when I first peeped out the window soon after
sunrise. It is bright and sunny now, and much of the
sky looks blue. From 1pm there should be full
sunshine (although I haven't noticed any pauses in
the sunshine for some time now). The afternoon
should reach 21° C, but after darkness fall the
temperature will slowly sink to 13° C by 3am
tomorrow morning. That may be the lowest temperature
tomorrow morning. The rest of tomorrow may be very
similar to today (but without the mist and fog - if
that ever happened).
Yesterday was another day when I could not be bothered to be enthused to do anything of note - unless you count finishing reading Isaac Asimov's "Second Foundation". All I did do that I could remember, and seemed noteworthy, is described, along with some notes about this morning, in my complete archived page about yesterday. |
| Saturday 3rd October 2026 |
|
0923 BST
Yesterday was a
bright day, but only from sunny spells. The afternoon
reached 21° C. It was not such a cool evening as the
day before with the temperature only down to 14 or 15°
C.
![]() This is bright and
sunny, but it is slightly hazy sunshine coming
through a milky white sky. The forecast says it
should be 16° C right now, and that seems correct.
The afternoon may be dull, possibly very dull at
3pm, but the temperature should still reach 20° C.
The rest of the day, and through the night, will see
cloudy skies, and at 8pm some drizzle is possible
(although with only a 31% chance it actually seems
unlikely to me). Tomorrow afternoon could see full
sunshine, but it will only raise the temperature to
21° C, and for for maybe just a single hour.
Yesterday had it's good points, but I didn't make much of the day. I just didn't feel inspired to do much. However I did finish my laundry and hang it up to dry, and I did go shopping. The rest of my day, plus some notes about this morning, is described in my complete archived page for yesterday. |
| Friday 2nd October 2026 |

0906 BST
Yesterday was a
bright day - some sunshine, and a lot of sunny spells.
The afternoon reached 20° C, and that felt fine. It
did cool down a lot in the night, and by 1am it was
down to just 13° C.
![]() This morning I am
showing a screen shot of the Met Office forecast. It
seems I did not save a screenshot of the BBC
forecast this morning. It is currently bright and
sunny as I write this, and a lot of the sky is blue,
but it does seem to be changing fast. The forecast
says sunny spells for all daylight hours, and the
afternoon should reach 21° C. Tomorrow may start
with full sunshine, but that will give way to sunny
spells before midday. Tomorrow afternoon may reach
22° C.
Yesterday was another day when very little happened, and that was despite preparing in case something happened, although I am not sure what. The full entry for yesterday can be read in my complete archived page about yesterday, and which, as usual, includes some notes about this morning. |
| Thursday 1st October 2026 |

0945 BST
There was rain
yesterday morning, but no thunderstorms, and the rain
was more like occasional showers, although some were
briefly a little heavy. From mid afternoon there was
some sunny spells, and some were long enough to be
mistaken for pure sunshine. The afternoon reached
about 22° C, but high humidity made it feel a bit
sticky at times.
![]() It is bright and
sunny as I write this. This morning started off
quite fresh, but it is now 16° C, and I have the
window open. By the afternoon it should reach 20° C
after a mix of sunny spells, and a couple of hours
of full sunshine. After 6pm the temperature will
start to drop as night starts to fall. By 1am
tomorrow it could be down to just 13° C. By 6am
tomorrow morning it may be just 12° C. It is now
October, and Autumn is on it's way, but the first
frost could still be a month or more away.
Yesterday included one brief bit of excitement, but most of the day was not exciting at all. In fact it seems like it was a wasted opportunity for a walk in the sunshine/sunny spells. My day, plus some notes about this morning, is more fully described in my complete archived page about yesterday. |
