The road outside was
definitely looking damp when I first looked
outside, but I would say the last rainfall was
earlier than the 6am shown in the screenshot
above. The latest revision to the forecast
correctly shows sunny spells for a couple of
hours. With over half the sky looking blue
this could be a very long sunny spell. From
10am the sky will start to cloud over, but it
will just be light cloud until 1am. From then
the cloud will be a bit darker, and rain will
start to fall at 2pm. By 3pm the sky will have
turned black, and the rainfall will be heavy.
At 4pm the sky will brighten up, but the rain
will still be heavy. From 5pm there will be
some light rain, and from 6pm the rain will
stop, the sun will come out, and then promptly
set. The chances of this forecast being
anywhere near accurate are very slim, but it
probably gives the general flavour of the day
ahead. The afternoon temperature will probably
only hit 15° C. Tomorrow could be the first
completely dry day for ages, and it should
feature quite a few hours of sunshine, and a
few more hours of sunny spells. Sadly it may
only reach 16° C for about a solitary hour.
I think that I may have done less
yesterday than the day before. Like the day
before I washed a few more t-shirts, and some
other assorted stuff, but that was the only
easily described thing I did. Somehow I didn't
seem to feel bored, and somehow I didn't seem
to have enough time to spends hours and hours
reading and snoozing. I can't recall all I
did, but I know I did lots of little jobs that
when combined must have taken quite a few
hours. Doing a system/software update on my
laptop was one such job. In reality I just
clicked a few buttons and let it get on with
it by itself.
My second largest job of the day was
some cooking. Pictured above is my version of
corned beef hash. Maybe it was corned beef
hash because I am not sure what corned beef is
exactly. My version has home grown potatoes
over a bed of home grown tomatoes, some sliced
red onion, and a bottom layer of corned beef.
There is a very generous splash of hot pepper
sauce over the potatoes.
I started by slicing, and then
precooking the potatoes. Once they were
cooking I opened a can of corned beef, and
squidged it into the bottom of the pyrex dish.
I then put some sliced red onion, and sliced
tomatoes on it. I baked it for maybe 30
minutes until the tomatoes and onion looked
soft. I then covered the top with sliced
potato, and baked the whole lot for about 40
minutes. If I had a fiercely hot oven these
times would have been a lot less, but my mini
oven only goes up to 200° C.
This dinner was cooked nearly half an
hour before my usual dinner time of 6pm. On
this occasion, maybe because it was a special
home invented/cooked diner, I allowed it to
cool down for 20 minutes before eating it.
Before I started eating it I thought it was
quite a big meal, but once I started
shovelling it in it didn't seem to last long.
It was one of the most delicious meals I have
eaten for some time !
I felt rather full after eating dinner,
but I think that was less to do with it being
a big meal, and more to do with having been
constipated all day long. Before I went to bed
I took some laxative. At one point I thought
that laxative had started working far earlier
than expected, but it was just a little wind.
That did make me feel a bit more comfortable
when I went to bed. I think that after reading
for a while I probably turned the light out
sometime soon after 10pm
I fell asleep quite quickly, and slept
really well - at least I think I did. I can
only recall a mere flash of a dream. It was
about adapting bicycles to carry boxes of food
by strengthening the bracket used for the
front lamp. At least I think that was what it
was about. My memory of it is very vague. The
only real notable thing last night was going
back to bed after getting up for a wee, and
finding my pillow, and a few bits of bedding
were damp from sweat. I may have been a bit
over generous with the pepper sauce on my
dinner, or maybe it was a fever or something.
I didn't feel too bad when I woke up
this morning. Once again I had slept through
until it was light outside - about 7.20am. I
probably felt as creaky as ever, but otherwise
I had little to complain about. It took a
little while until the previous night's
laxative did it's stuff, and it did it well,
although I suspect I'll be visiting the toilet
for more of the same sometime this morning. I
party base that assumption on my weight. I
can't have put on that much in such a short
space of time !
My plans for today are as vague as
ever. As I sit here the idea of a long walk
does not appeal, but I ought to try for one
for the simple reason that until about 1pm the
weather may be favourable for it. There is
also the fact that I will probably need to
stay in tomorrow to receive two deliveries.
One should be new supplies of beer, and the
other a big box of goodies from Star Bargains.
The latter should include 6 bottles of Diet
Coke, and 2 bottles of "Strawberry Twist" Diet
Coke. It is going to be a very heavy box !!
