It was sunny earlier on, but
the latest revision to the forecast is a bit
closer to reality. The sunshine at 9am, in the
screenshot above, is now showing as just sunny
spells, but now they are extended through to
11am. After that it may become lightly
overcast....or maybe there will be sunny
spells later. Once again it seems that the
weather is in a great state of flux, and
difficult, or impossible to forecast with any
degree greater than broad generalisations. The
afternoon temperature may only reach 12° C
today, but tomorrow it may reach 13° C.
Tomorrow is shown as having few sunny spells
at the moment, but the chances that in reality
it will be similar today - once we find out
what today is actually like !
I seemed to be quite busy doing
some photo editing yesterday morning - not
that I had much time for it in the morning
after finishing writing here, and having a
shower. I think something else occupied my
time for a bit, but I can't remember what.
What I do know is that my photo editing
spilled over into a bit of the afternoon after
I had some lunch.
Time seemed to fly by so fast that I
found I had little time to get the dining room
clean and tidy for a boozing session.
Yesterday it was only with Jodie because
Michael was busy yesterday afternoon. We had a
few interesting, and not so interesting beers.
This was one of the beers that Jodie
brought with her. My only problem is that I
can't remember if it was good or bad. I think
I would remember is it was either extreme, and
so I conclude that it was "OK".
Old Speckled Hen is one of those beers
that seems to vary a lot. Once upon a time I
liked it, and then I didn't. I think Jodie has
similar views about it, but was intrigued by
the addition of "Gluten Free" on the label. I
believe that most, and possibly all ales are
gluten free, but someone in marketing had an
idea, and Jodie fell for it. This time it
tasted quite nice, although I wouldn't cross
the road for more of it.
Jodie was collected, a little later
than I would have preferred, by Mark who
popped in for 10 minutes. Once they had gone I
could sort out my dinner. I knew it was going
to be curry, and after looking at what I had
in the fridge, left over from my takeaway
order from 2 days previously, I selected the
lamb dhansak with chick pea and spinach bhaji.
It was very nice ! I still have a vegetable
curry (sadly a rather thin one) and a small
container of rice for another meal, and also a
piece of naan bread as well. That takeaway,
although a bit expensive, is providing quite a
few meals for me. It doesn't make it expensive
at all when looked at like that.
After dinner I first watched a bit of
TV, and then I half watched some TV, and then
I turned the TV and did more useful stuff.
Most of that more useful stuff was more video
editing. Last night I was looking back at
photos I had taken in 2009. That was the first
year when I started going for long walks,
although the first was not very long with
hindsight. I can remember looking at pictures
of the seaside, and wishing I could see the
sea too.
It was the 2nd July 2009 when I went on
my first solo trip to the seaside. It was a
long train ride to Rye station, and then just
over a 2 mile walk to the sea. It seemed a
very long walk, as some walks still do today
when walking unfamiliar roads, and after
seeing the sea for long enough I went for a
quick pint, and got a bus back to the station.
It was the start of walking many, many miles
along the Kent and Sussex coasts over the next
few years.
The sea and beach at Rye, or maybe more
accurately at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. If I
say "back in those days" it sounds like it was
eons ago rather than 11 years ago, but back in
those days I had several not very good, cheap
cameras. It was a time when digital cameras
had started to be mass produced. The picture
above was taken on a cheap, and with
hindsight, a rather crappy camera. Many of
these cheap Chinese cameras, and even some
slightly more expensive cameras from the likes
of Samsung, could take good pictures under
ideal conditions, but move away from ideal
conditions and they could really only be save
by a good photo editor. Last night I spent a
fair time improving a handful of photos. Some
could look good, and some, like the one above,
still looked bland - but in those days I
didn't know the rules for taking a good photo.
Sometimes the rules have to be broken - you
can't turn a building around to face south for
the best lighting !
I went to bed feeling OK, and managed
to get to sleep before my hangover kicked
in....although when I think about it, maybe I
didn't have quite enough beer for a hangover.
What's more, I had stopped drinking 3 or 4
hours before going to bed, and that should
have been long enough for any bad effects to
be felt. I'm not sure how well I slept last
night. It was another night where I feel I
must have been sleeping very lightly, and
possibly waking up for very short times quite
often. I believe this because I can remember
long, meandering dreams. I just can't remember
any detail enough to describe.
This morning I feel tolerably well.
Another dose of curry acted like a laxative,
and so no problems there. I think my weight is
stable - which is a mild surprise after eating
some naughty snacks, as well as drinking lots
of beer. For the same reasons I am surprised
that my blood glucose level has gone another
notch. This morning it was down to 8.5mmol/l.
that is still far too high, but at least it is
not in the danger zone.
This morning my first "task" is to take
in a big, heavy parcel when it arrives (and as
I write this it could be any minute
now). Once that is safely in, and when I
have finished writing (if I haven't when it
arrives) I can have a shower, and prepare to
face the day. ... I had barely entered the
full stop at the end of the previous sentence
before there was a knock at my front door
(actually an electronic bing-bong doorbell).
My Parcel, which was really a heavy box, had
arrived.
I was another order from Star Bargains.
This time I ordered a lot of soup, amongst
other things, including vet naughty stuff like
cakes ! I was quite happy with stuff in my
previous orders, but this time I am not so
sure. It included a lot of cans, mostly, but
not all soup, and nearly all of them are
dented. That could shorten their lifetimes a
lot. My original intention was to eat all my
old soups, many now pass their best before
date, but I am now included to go on a soup
diet to use the dented cans up as fast as
possible.
I may have soup for lunch, but maybe
not. I am definitely having curry for dinner
tonight. The only other definite is that this
afternoon I should be having a beer drinking
session with Michael. Prior to that I will see
if I have the energy and enthusiasm to get the
hoover out. If I do get it out I will start on
the dining room and possibly keep going until
I get bored with it. I may do the front room,
and I may do the stairs, but probably no
more....but you never know !
