There was some nice sunshine yesterday, and it seemed to last longer than the forecast said it would (although that depends on the actual revision of the forecast). Maybe the first sunshine was a bit late, but after a very wet early morning it was very welcome. The day started around 9° C, but slowly cooled during the day until it was down to less than 3° C by midnight.
a very cold day with a very small
                                possibility of some sleet
This morning started off very cold, and frosty. What happens next is anyone's guess. Until the latest revision, the BBC's weather forecast was still giving a small chance of sleet about now. It now broadly agrees with the Met Office forecast, and says that the next couple of hours could feature sunny spells, or even be sunny. Unfortunately, reality agrees with neither of them. It is possible the sun may break through the mid grey sky, but there is no sign it will happen soon, but some sleet could be possible from that horrid sky. Today should see the temperature eventually rise to 4° C according to the latest revisions to both forecasts, but it won't be long before the temperature dips for another very cold night. Tomorrow will be as cold as today, and the sky will possibly be a darker shade of grey, but the chance of any precipitation is no more than 10%.

While writing yesterday morning I had grave doubts about there being any sunshine for yesterday afternoon. As mentioned above, I was very wrong about that, and I could have gone and frollicked in the sunshine - except I couldn't ! I mentioned how I had been releasing vile smelling farts during the night, and I think I mentioned they continued in the morning. Every now and then I would go to the toilet to see if I could do something about the.

I ended up making a lot of visits to the toilet, and some resulted in a small deposit being made. Meanwhile my bottom got more and more sore ! I thought this might go on through the day, and under such circumstances it would be unwise to go out (and distant from the toilet). For some of the time I luxuriated in laying on my bed with the sunshine, that had finally appeared, shining warm beams of sunshine through my bedroom window on to me.

I can't recall exactly when it was, but I found a good reason to do a bit more laundry. I noted that the tea towel in the kitchen was getting a bit whiffy after having too much sausage, and other juices, soaked into it while using it to get hot stuff out of the oven. If I have a new years resolution it is to wash tea towel as soon as possible after they get any spillage on them. I must have a good half dozen or more of them, and so there is no reason to wait before getting another out. I washed 2 tea towels and a pair of crappy old lounge pants, in the end.

Maybe it was all the gyrations involved in hand washing stuff, wringing it out between each stage of the wash, and finally hanging it up to dry, that gave my guts a good stir. I think it was soon after that my troubles ended with an explosive finale. I felt much better for it, but it seemed a bit late in the afternoon to go for a walk then, plus I couldn't be 100% sure that was really the end of it. Happily it was the end - for now.

I am surprised my dinner didn't kick off more trouble (although there still could be time !). It was basically chicken thighs cooked in a ready made curry sauce - with added chilli sauce. I had cooked it the day before, and I left it in a sealed container until I was ready to reheat it for dinner last night. I poured it over a naan bread left from my Xmas evening Indian takeaway. It made quite a big pile, and I didn't leave it in the microwave oven long enough to get very hot all the way through. Some parts were only luke warm, and that made it less enjoyable - and wouldn't have killed any bugs that might have started to grow in it.

I felt OK during the evening, but I did feel rather tired. I guess I still had a lot of sleep to catch up from the previous night despite having a snooze or two during the day. I can't remember what time I turned the light out, but i think I was asleep by 10pm, and possibly earlier. On the whole I seemed to sleep normally last night. "Normally" isn't quite as good as "good", but it's good enough. I can only remember a few snatches from many dreams that I think I have, but I can remember a strange conclusion about some of those dreams.

One dream was about riding a motorbike that had been customised to be operated one handed. I have no idea why this was done, but instead of a handlebar there was something like a tiller that was almost like a chromed steel and rubber game controller. I, or maybe someone, rode the motorbike in front of a crown of enthusiasts, and it seemed to work well. The really weird thing is that I can't recall actually seeing the rest of the motorbike, and I have a strong impression I was seeing through some else's eyes - or maybe video footage from a helmet camera.

I had another dream where it seemed like I was taking no part in the action, but was seeing it through someone else's eyes. It is only as I write this that the idea that maybe I was watching video footage comes to mind. I was still unaware of my body if I was watching a video.

I felt pretty fair when I woke up. Once again, that doesn't mean I felt good, and it is more an expression of not feeling dominated by any particular aches or pains. I was expecting my blood glucose to be high again this morning, and it was, but not very high. It had come down to 8.2mmol/l. The main difficulty with that is that it is on a day when I have been shopping in Aldi, and I might have bought a few items that are not so good for my blood glucose level.

For some stupid reason I have transposed these two photos, and for an even more stupid reason I can't be bothered to put the earlier picture on the left.  The digital thermometer on the right has got the outdoor sensor sitting on the outside windowsill of the back bedroom. At 7.09am it was saying it was just 1.0° C. Almost half an hour later, the other thermometer was saying it was just 0.1° C. The outdoor sensor for that is at eye level on the back wall of the house. It was no surprise that all the cars, shed roofs, and probably the grass, all had a good rime of frost on them as I walked to Aldi just before 8am.

Aldi was exceptionally quiet when I got there, and didn't seem to be getting any busier when I left. I was not surprised, but still a bit disappointed that there were not a few more bargains in there - Xmas stuff at reduced prices. Maybe there was more than I realised because I wasn't looking at all the (sugar laden) cakes and pies. I did manage to find a nice unhealthy steak hash ready meal for half price.

I felt OK walking to Aldi. It was almost pleasant, but I did notice some stiffness from my knees. It was was worse on the way back when I was carrying quite a heavy load. For the second time in public, I was wearing my bright orange winter coat. I sort of like that coat, but it easy to get rather hot when wearing it. I didn't open the front while in Aldi, and I was feeling rather warm when I emerged into the frosty air - but not frosty enough to mean I was still very warm when I got home.

I'm not sure what I'll be doing today. I am contemplating going for a walk in the Linear Park, but at this time I am not sure if I will. At the moment I feel like a bit more breakfast followed by a snooze. Maybe I will have the snooze, and see how I feel after I have had one - assuming I do snooze, and not just lay there reading.......Finally a thought has just emerged from my brain. I am expecting an Amazon delivery today, and so I probably have a great excuse to stay in !
