Apart from one flaw, it was really nice yesterday. The flaw was that the sun is now high enough in the sky to not shine through my front windows...well it does, but at such an oblique angle that it doesn't warm the rooms so much. There was sunshine all day yesterday, and the afternoon temperature was possibly a degree or two higher than the forecast 14° C. It was enough to dry my washing in 4, maybe 5 hours, and it felt nice and warm when I took it off the line to bring inside. Meanwhile, my bedroom felt slightly cool, particularly so when quietly reading, and almost too warm after putting the heater on low for a few minutes.
less sunshine, and cooler than

There is a lot of uncertainty to the forecast for today - particularly so at this time in the morning. The cloud patterns are obviously different to the predictions. When it says sunny it is cloudy, and similar mix ups. Maybe a little later things will settle down. The latest revision to the forecast predicts non stop sunshine from midday to sunset, but still give no hope that the temperature will get any higher than 11° C. Tomorrow is predicted to start very cold and very gloomy, but by late afternoon the sun could breakthrough enough to give sunny periods, and even long periods of pure sunshine. The temperature may rise to 12° C.

Yesterday was almost a very quiet day, but I did have a spurt of activity in the morning. I was wondering what side effects my 2nd dose of Covid vaccine might give. The day after the 1st felt like I had 'flu for most of the day, but yesterday I was free of any 'flu like symptoms. I did a sort of test to prove this. I did some laundry by hand. It had to be done sooner or later, and all that physical action of hand washing cloths proved that most of my body was in fair working order. As I mentioned above when commenting on yesterday's weather. I hung the washing on the clothes line in nice warm sunshine. It dried quickly, and felt nice and warm when I brought it in.

After hanging the washing on the line I spent some time in the kitchen clear a small backlog of washing up, and also cooking myself some lunch. Lunch was grilled bacon and mushrooms. It would have been great with a big plate of overcooked baked beans, and in a real fantasy world with fried bread and fried tomatoes, plus a fried egg as well, but this was the real world, and I didn't even have any reduced sugar baked beans.

After lunch I laid down to read a bit more of the book I was reading yesterday. It wasn't long before I felt sleepy. As far as I can recall I had slept well the night before, but I still ended up having several snoozes through the afternoon. Maybe this sleepiness was a side effect of the vaccine. Last time I had too many other things going on to to stop to think I was tired. On the other hand I can't recall anyone else saying the second dose made them sleepy, and I don't think it is on the official lists of side effects. Perhaps it was just me.

There was one other important thing I did yesterday, and that was to print out the 10 page form to apply for my state pension. It probably sounds silly, but I couldn't raise the enthusiasm to start filling it in. In theory, most of those 10 pages don't apply to me (stuff like marriages and divorces), but I still couldn't even bother to check and fill in basic stuff like my bank account details.

As dinner time approached I couldn't bother to do any cooking either. That make me sound depressed, but I wasn't, and it was nothing but laziness after having such a quiet and sleepy afternoon. I opted to order some kebabs. I think it has been a few weeks now since I last had a takeaway*, and yesterday seemed like the perfect time for it. As usual I over ordered so I had spares for today. The only problem is that I tried a new takeaway, and I am still looking for the perfect takeaway. Some do good meat. Others do good salad. Some make big portions and some small. Last night the lamb shish was very chewy as if it was a cheap cut of meat.

* I just checked. My last takeaway was actually 25 days ago on the 1st April. I don't think I am overdoing it at the moment.

I watched a few episodes of Red Dwarf, series 13, during and after dinner. I think the last finished around 8pm. It wasn't all that long after that that I brushed my teeth, and went to bed. By then I wasn't feeling that sleepy, and ended up finishing the book I was reading. I had already selected the next book - it was an obvious choice, but I went to sleep instead of starting to read from it.
books
Last night I finished reading "The Rock Rats". You may note that this is subtitled "The Asteroid Wars: II". The next book I'll be reading is "The Silent War" - "The Asteroid Wars: III". I have yet to read "The Asteroid Wars : I". As far as I can tell it is out of print, and the last time I looked on Amazon there were no second hand copies available. I probably ought to check again some day,

After sleeping so much during the afternoon it was a surprise to almost sleep well last night. The "almost" is because I did have a short period (30 minutes ?) of insomnia around 3am. Apart from that I even managed to sleep a bit later than usual. I think I woke up around 6am, but turned over for "just a few minutes". It was gone 7am when I woke up again. As usual, the first thing I did was to check my blood glucose. It was an almost perfect 7.6mmol/l. My personal target is 7.5, but I would like to get it under 7 so I can afford to take a few liberties now and then.

I had contemplated going for a short walk this morning, but looking at all the grey clouds in the sky as I write this, has put me off that idea. I wouldn't have wanted to walk too far anyway because this afternoon Jodie will be visiting with (probably) some nasty sour beers. In the meantime I have selected some nice fruit beers, which may be a bit tart, but not horribly sour and murky, to drink this afternoon.
