Lockdown day 420 440

09:06 BST

It was nice again yesterday, and as I predicted, there were sunny spells during the afternoon when the forecast said none were expected. For a while it seemed warmer than the 23° C predicted, but from late afternoon it seemed to cool down quite fast. It was down to 18° C by 9 or 10pm. It didn't get much lower though.
loads of sunshine today
Today is going to be like how I think a June day should be - very sunny all day long. The only fly in the ointment is that the maximum temperature has been reduced to 23° C in the latest revision. At the moment, tomorrow is looking like it will be the same as today, but with a maximum temperature of 25° C.

Yesterday morning was almost a quiet morning. I spent a little time reading, but I also did a tiny bit of work in the back garden. I raked all the rubble away from the entrance to the foxes earth, taking with it some rubbish. I then dug a few spadefuls of dirt and weeds from the house end of the lawn - the end that I hadn't finished preparing when I put grass seed down a year or two ago. I wasn't actually preparing that end for sowing grass seed. I wanted a few spadefuls of dirt to tip on the smelly rotting food that is composting in the brown, garden waste, wheelie bin.

The final thing was to try and tidy and clean the path outside the back door. There is a nasty smell out there, and I have a very nasty feeling it is something to do with the drains. I have a suspicion that something happened when next door had their garden paved over. Before I tackle that as a possibility I have to get me own house in order. For a long time now there has been some leakage from where the waste pipe from the bath joins the main downpipe to the sewer. I fixed it once, but it has started dribbling again. I would estimate that when I have a shower about one cupful dribbles from the join. I hope to fix it this morning.

It must have been around midday that Jodie phoned up sounding very vague, but she said she would definitely be over for a few beers later in the afternoon. I had set everything up or the previous day, and so there was almost nothing I needed to do. I think I had a short snooze in the middle of reading a few more short chapters from the book I am reading. Jodie eventually arrived a little later than expected. She had gone to the park first, and got lost !

Jodie still seemed to suffering from an excess of booze at the weekend. She was drinking excruciatingly slowly, and that left me often feeling thirsty while I waited for her to catch up. All the beers we drank were from my order from Beer Explorer from a few weeks ago. They were all beers from the Americas - north and south. On the whole they were light summery beers, and quite enjoyable. For me it seemed far too easy to quaff half a small bottle of beer in a few mouthfuls.

In theory, with Jodie announcing she had had enough beer, we could have ended early, and Jodie could have caught an earlier train - and she did - 10 minutes earlier ! Once Jodie had left I quickly prepared my dinner. It was little more than an Aldi salad with some precooked spicy chicken slices with a few pickles and some vinaigrette dressing. I was able to eat it while watching the last 15 minutes of the second to last episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

It was no surprise they finished the series when they did. In a change to the usual schedule they showed the very last episode after that second-to-last episode. The writers dragged out the first half, and then really laboured to fill the second half. I'm glad Star Trek: Deep Space Nine has finished (until they repeat it again in a year or three). It had some good episodes, but a lot of it turned into a just another long drawn out space war. "Star Wars" has a lot to answer for !!!!

It wasn't that long after the second, and final episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine finished that I started heading for bed. I read a few more short chapters in my book, and then went to sleep. I think that was at about 10pm. I seemed to sleep OK, or normally, until between 4am and 4.30am. Probably the latter because it was light outside. It took ages to get back to sleep. It was as if I was supposed to get up then, but I thought that was ridiculous, and finally managed to get another couple of hours of light sleep.

There were a few things I ate yesterday which I was very worried about in so much as their sugar content seemed a bit high. In particular there was some chilli coated peanuts that I thought I should eat very sparingly, but didn't ! Then there were the beers, As I said, most were light and summery, and some did taste sweet, although of course beers don't usually carry any nutritional information.

After all that I was very surprised to see my blood glucose was still nice and low at 7.6mmol/l - even better than the 7.7mmol/l yesterday morning. While that is good, my guts are bad.  The change to eating loads of salad material seems to have caught up with me this morning in a big way. I have paid four visits to the toilet this morning, and I think another might be on it's way !

My plans for today start with trying to fix that leaking bath waste pipe. Hopefully that won't take long, and won't be too taxing because I would like to go for a walk in the nice warm sunshine today. Hopefully my guts will be completely settled by the time I want to go out or I may not go.
