Later revisions of the weather forecast warned of thunderstorms yesterday. There was an animated map that showed the storm heading our way, but it must have missed by a long way because I didn't hear a single peal of thunder. Yesterday morning was fairly bright with a smattering of sunny spells. The afternoon turned a bit grey, and there was some light rain for a few minutes, but apart from that it was a dry day as far as I am aware. The temperature reached 20° C for a while, and I think I can only describe it as "comfortable" - not hot, nor cold.
another bright morning
The latest revision to today's forecast has got rid of the dark cloud at 1pm, and changed midday to full sunshine. After that it will lightly cloud over, but it should stay dry. Even after a partly sunny morning, the temperature is predicted to rise to no more than 19° C today. Tomorrow could be described as dry with scattered sunny periods. It may be a little warmer. Maybe 21° C, but like everything else tomorrow, the reality could be very different to the forecast.

I think I could judge yesterday as a fairly successful day. Despite Aldi doing it's best to piss me off (opening late because of changing most checkouts to self service), I did my shopping, and took it home with very little trouble. That was the first indication that I was less crappy than I thought. After shopping I did the laundry that I described yesterday. What happened later was fairly good.

During the afternoon the clouds were getting rather dark, and I felt rain was due. When I went out into the garden I realised that it had just started to rain. At that point it was very light rain, and it never got any worse during 15 to 20 minutes that it was raining. I took my washing off the line, and brought it indoors. The bottom of the hand towel was a bit damp, but the top was more or less dry, as were the two t-shirt and underwear. I hung the towel on a clothes horse to finish drying, and hung the t-shirts on hangers, hung on my bedroom door to finish drying. They needed very little drying, and could almost have been worn without any real discomfort.

I think getting that washing as dry as it was, and bringing it in before the rain could start making it better, was possibly the highlight of the day. That sounds sort of silly, but I am sure I felt better after that. It was an hour or two after that when I checked all my health measurement devices to get another opinion on how my body was doing. My temperature was a little high for me at that time of day, but still well below any possible definition of fever. My blood pressure was nice and low, and my Pulse Oximeter said my blood had plenty of oxygen in it. The only high reading was the blood glucose reading I took in the morning. That was 8.3mmol/l, and although higher than I aim for, it was a lot lower than when I am fighting some sort of infection.

Those were the highlights of yesterday. The low to midlights included probably eating a bit more than needed, and drinking a couple of cans of ice cold Guinness - although maybe that should be among the highlights. The "eating too much" probably needs clarifying. It was what I nibbled on between meals that must have been excessive I feel this morning. I did have a breakfast of 2 pieces of fish in breadcrumbs from a pack of 4. I had the other two pieces for dinner, and in that respect it was not overdoing it. In the past I have had all 4 pieces for one meal.

Apart from one thing I was feeling quite OK by bedtime. The one thing was the result of drinking Guinness with, and then after my dinner. I ended up gulping it down because I wanted to get to bed. The gas in it made me a bit burpy, and at least one burp seemed to include a hint of bile. I had to take a couple of antacid tablets to control that. I think I was fast asleep by 10pm. I was only asleep for about 90 minutes before I had to get up and drain off some of the used Guinness !

My sleep last night has been a lot like it many nights recently - waking a few times after what could be describes as almost like snoozes, and then sleeping for much longer periods until waking semi frequently as the time to get up approaches. Probably the biggest similarity to recent days is feeling cold in the last hours of sleep. Once again I turned the heater on at around 6am, and then went back to bed until 7pm. In August that should definitely not be needed. I feel sure 13° C mornings should not be happening in August, but maybe it is just me.

This morning I felt better than yesterday morning, and that was better than Sunday morning...or so I think. Everything would be good if my blood glucose was not up to 9.0mmol/l this morning. That is below the red line at 10.0mmol/l, but very undesirable. Unfortunately I have done one thing this morning that is not going to help getting it down by tomorrow morning. This morning I have been shopping in Tesco.

There were a few things I wanted from Tesco, and one thing I forgot to get from Aldi yesterday morning. The thing I forgot was some beefburgers. What I actually forgot was to check for frozen burgers when I couldn't see any fresh. I have now bought some Tesco burgers. I hope they satisfy the craving I have for some burgers recently. I bought a selection of carefully selected soups from Tesco. I was particularly wanting to get another couple of cans of their "Plant Chef" red lentil soup.

I also bought some booze. It included a couple of cans that I know Jodie will complain that she had them last week, but they are new to me ! I noticed one of my favourite beers this morning. I don't know what it is like in bottles, but when on draught in a pub, I, and any friends with me, usually end getting drunk on it. It is Abbot Special Reserve - a strong version of Abbot ale. The odd thing is that I don't like Abbot ale, but the Special Reserve is really delicious ! I also bought some whisky. I can't seem to recall it's name, but it was quite cheap with the £4 discount for those with Tesco Clubcards.

I have already messed up any chance of getting my blood glucose down today (unless I go on a 8 mile walk - which I won't be !). I was about to say that I have already eaten a double breakfast, but upon noticing that it is now midday, perhaps it was breakfast and lunch. By that reckoning - breakfast was a pot of satay noodles that I bought in Tesco because I was curious about it (it was tasty), and lunch was a couple of Thai style fish cakes bought in Aldi yesterday morning.

I now face a problem. What I should be doing, when I finish writing this, is finishing some laundry that I put in to soak after I finished my shower this morning. After breakfast and lunch I don't fancy rushing to do it, and to make matters worse there seems to be a lot of dark and threatening clouds in the sky. The forecast may have said it would be sunny now, but it is looking like the forecast was telling fibs. Maybe it will all seem more optimistic after an afternoon snooze. I don't really plan doing any more than that today.
