The sunny spells were more frequent that the various revisions of the weather forecast predicted yesterday. There was a period of time in the early afternoon, or maybe it was before midday, when the sky did get very dull, but the clouds thinned out, and the sunny spells started again as early as 2pm (I think). From then on it seemed quite pleasant, and the temperature rose to 23° C.

The latest revision to the forecast shows this morning as being rather dull (which it is), but from midday there could be lots of sunny spells, but there is a 30% chance of light rain from 7pm. Once again the temperature should rise to 23° C. One of my thermometers says it is that already, but the breeze blowing in the window feels a fair bit cooler than that. The early hours of tomorrow could see lots of sunny spells, but soon after 9am the clouds will cover the sky, and it will be medium dull, with maybe the odd hour being very dull, until just before sunset when the sky might clear. It may well be a cooler day with a predicted peal temperature of just 20° C.

Almost nothing happened yesterday. The one thing I did do was to wash a bed sheet and a couple of pillowcases. Thanks to the earlier than expected sunny spells, I was able to bring them in feeling warm and dry some time in the mid afternoon. Other than that I just laid around reading. Even the evening was rather useless. There were no gigs that I felt like going to - mainly because any that might have had a very small attraction I couldn't get to. Sky Arts were wasting the evening by showing a pile of crap about Elvis bloody Presley.

During the late afternoon I drunk a couple of cans of Carlesburg lager. The info on the tin said it contained 0% sugar, but I am not convinced. I can't think of anything I ate yesterday that could have raised my blood glucose to just the danger line (but not over it). Therefore I blame the lager. It limited my dinner choices to cans of soup, and I had three of them - Oxtail, Lentils, and Lentils with bacon. I would have preferred something like steak and chips, but I still enjoyed those soups.

With so little to keep me amused I ought to have been in bed early last night. I guess it is possible that it was early. I know that it was dark outside. That means it was a bit after 8.30pm now. I did read in bed for maybe an hour. At that rate I could have been asleep by 9.30pm. I suspect it may have been later, but probably no more than an hour later. Once asleep I seemed to sleep better than many nights.

I only remember a fragment of one dream, and it happened around midnight. The dream was probably inspired by the book I am reading. It concerns a human man who has been in space, and seen other stars. He was gifted some powers by an alien race, and can protect people in a "force bubble" if they are being attacked. It is pure conjecture, but I presume that in the dream I had been temporarily enable to breath underwater. The fragment of dream I remember was jumping into a murky lake. I assume I was trying to escape someone or some thing. I think some bit of my brain decided to wake me up to make sure I was OK. I woke up, realised it was a dream, puzzled over it for a few minutes, and then went back to sleep.

I can't seem to remember any other dreams, or even short bits of them. The only I thing I think I remember was not waking up for a pee as often as usual. Maybe the lager I was drinking in the afternoon sent me to the toilet enough times to partly dehydrate me or something - although that does sound rather unlikely. It would possible account for that high blood glucose reading.

This morning my blood glucose was a tiny bit higher than my average. It was 8.6mmol/l, and the average over the last few months has been 8.6mmol/l - and that was the figure that was the basis of the "Good control of diabetes" result of my blood tests. I presume I have little to worry about, but I would still like to get that average down to 8.0mmol/l if I can. I think I have started the day with a fairly safe breakfast. I have had the rare delicacy - kippers ! The whole house stinks of fish now, but the fish was nice, although maybe the lingering taste does tempt me to eat something else.

At the moment I have a double duvet cover soaking in detergent. My main task this morning is to finish washing it, and then hanging it on the line in the stupid hope it can dry in the sun. When I look out the window it does seem unlikely the sun can break through those thickening clouds, but if the weather forecast says there will be sunny spells, who am I to disagree ? Slightly worrying is that the BBC forecast also said there would be sunny spells this afternoon, but it has now been revised to show medium dark clouds all day long.

Maybe before this afternoon I might go to either Tesco Express on the high street, or the Sainsbury's Local store by Catford station. I think I fancy buying some wholemeal rolls to make some cheese and tomato rolls. I also want to visit a cash machine. With the one by the Tesco Express store seemingly permanently out of use, maybe until the building work adjacent to it is finished, the better option would be the Sainsbury's Local store. If the sun does come out this afternoon I may strim the lawn again. It really ought to be done quite frequently if I want to turn it into a proper lawn instead of an unruly patch of grass.
