The surprising thing about yesterday's weather was that sometime in the middle of the afternoon the sun came out. It was only a brief visit, but the sky seemed lighter and brighter for an hour or so before. The rest of the day seemed to feature rain in various strengths. It was almost warm at 11° C from sunset.
it's
trying to be a bright morning
It's trying to be a bright morning, but while I can see some blue sky, and a tantalising bright glow along the roofline of a house to the east earlier, it is now staring to get more cloudy, and it is probably that there will be more rain. The latest revision to the weather forecast now shows medium dark clouds for 10 and 11am with light rain falling. After that the clouds still stay a dirty grey until sunset, and the first two hours still show a 20% chance of rain. That falls to 10% by 3pm. Apart from the temperature being a mild 10° C, it looks to be another unpleasant day. Tomorrow could see the temperature rise to 14° C, and the afternoon may be bright, but not actually sunny. The morning will probably feature light rain.

I didn't have a lot to say about the previous day to yesterday, and I don't have much to say about yesterday. In fact I probably have less to say about it because I didn't really do any more than 2 things, and one of them I described yesterday. That was about shopping in Aldi. I also described the other thing I did when writing yesterday morning, but it was actually worse than described.

I probably didn't really get started a little job that took many hours until the afternoon. That job was simply to make sure there were no files on a small external hard disk that should be on a large external hard disk. The files are audio, mp3, files, and range from music to audio books and take in radio recordings too. It turned out there were quite a lot of files on the smaller hard disk that I copied to the big hard disk - the big hard disk being my primary backup disk (I also have a working copy of the backup).

One thing that made the job take all afternoon, almost up to dinner time, was that I wanted to keep the file system tidy. For instance the music files start with the band/performer name at the highest level. Below that come album titles, and below the album titles are the individual songs. I spent a lot of time cutting and pasting to get everything like that. Then there was always the perennial problem of whether the band should be filed as "The xxxxxx", or just "xxxxxx". If there were any doubts I would choose the latter, and that meant moving more files around.

In the end I freed up a 500GB USB hard drive, and reformatted it so I can use it for a backup disk for something else. That something else will probably be a copy of all the pictures and video taken on my mobile phones, both past and present. Many of the pictures, where relevant to a particular event (such as a gig) are stored in my "Pictures" collection, that is also the case of the videos, but there are loads of loose files, and some of them are interesting, and worth preserving.

I didn't think I ate all that much yesterday, but it would seem I probably did. I knew my late breakfast was bigger than usual, although the fish burgers (just the fish without buns and stuff) are generally safe, or at least I used to think that. I did allow myself one beef and onion sandwich made with bread that I thought should be fairly safe. I also ate two packets of alleged low calorie and sugar crisp like things that were made from grains instead of potato.

My dinner was a fairly robust affair of grilled pork belly slices grilled with half a sliced red onion. I served with an experimental side dish of chopped white cabbage cooked in some chicken stock. The latter was strangely pleasant, and in theory should have been very safe - both low in sugar and calories.

Last night I dared to turn the TV on. I was pleasantly surprised that the edition of QI I watched was not Xmas themed (or I would have turned it off). The episode of Star Trek: Voyager was one of the better ones, but it did clash with other stuff...

                                    carry on
I only got to see the last 15 minutes of Carry On Abroad, but that was the funniest bit of the film (mostly), and so that was alright. I watched all of Carry On At Your Convenience. That finished at 10pm, and then it was time for bed. I made one tragic mistake last night, and that was to keep the heating on all through the evening. It was quite mild last night, and that meant my room was warmer than usual. To compound the problem I left the heating on all night.

The problem itself was that the room was exactly the wrong temperature. A degree or two higher and I could have just thrown the duvet off. A few degrees lower, and I could have snuggled under the duvet. As it was I felt too hot under the duvet, and slightly cool without it. It took a long time to get comfortable before I got to sleep, and the same thing happened every time I woke up.

This morning it feels like I had an awful sleep, and I was very tempted to try and lay in for as long as possible, but I needed to get up for a pee, and then I started my morning routine of taking screenshots of the weather forecast, checking my temperature, and finally checking my blood glucose. If I had left that until later I might have been able to go back to bed for 10 minutes, or if I was very lucky, 2 hours, but the reading I got, 9.3mmol/l, was enough to fully wake me up.

I was not expecting it to be that high after a few low readings in the previous couple of mornings. I knew it might be a bit higher after some of what I ate yesterday, but not that high. One factor is a bit of an unknown at the moment, but I wonder of a pattern is emerging. I didn't feel uncomfortable yesterday, but I was technically constipated, and that was despite eating stuff that usually has the opposite effect. I am beginning to wonder if that might explain this mornings, and certain other mornings high blood glucose readings. This morning I am no longer constipated, but maybe the job is only half done so far this morning.

Today brings another day with no firm plans of what I might do. There is one job I ought to do, and that is to either change, or oil the CPU fan in my firewall. It has been getting louder and louder, and I really need to do something about it. I should be getting a delivery from Amazon today. It is a couple of spare memory cards for my cameras - assuming I ever get around to doing any more photography. The other item is an external USB hard disk that I will be using to make backup copies of stuff. I still have another hard disk I could have used, but like what I was doing yesterday, it contains more mp3 files, although they should be the same as the ones I dealt with yesterday, but it will still take ages to check it all out. I guess today could be another very busy day achieving very little.
