I think the rain may
have stopped a little bit earlier than 8am as
seen in the screenshot above. It has certainly
been a soggy morning, but also a mild morning
(and it was mild last night). The latest
revision to the forecast says full sunshine,
non stop, from 11am until sunset. That should
drive the temperature up to 19° this
afternoon, and the sunshine should warm my
front rooms up even higher). Tomorrow could be
very similar, but clear skies overnight will
allow the temperature to drop a lot lower in
the night, and the day may only warm up to 17°
C.
This morning follows a day where more
seemed to happen in the night than during the
day. The only thing I did yesterday morning
was some basic housework to make the kitchen
and dining room seem a bit nicer for the
afternoon drinking session. It was a bit more
of an intensive job that usual because as well
as doing the washing up, including the
glasses, I took out two bags to the recycling
bin, and two bags to the non-recycling bin.
The one thing I had intended to do, but
didn't, was to hoover the dining room carpet.
It still has bits of cardboard on it after
cutting up a few boxes to put them in the
recycling bin. Maybe I didn't bother because I
knew I would be cutting up more boxes
today.....well that's my excuse ! After that
little spurt of work I relaxed until Jodie
arrived. I am glad I got changed into my
drinking clothes early because Jodie was
early.
Jodie arrived at just gone 3pm. When I
remarked that she was early she pointed out
that with Sunday trains being only every 30
minutes she would have been late if she waited
for the next one. I soon learned that
Jodie had had a skinful the night before, and
wasn't n a beer drinking mood. She had brought
over 3 cans from her own stash, and declared
that she didn't like two of them. I ended up
drinking the contents of both big, almost 1
pint cans.
I can't say that I thought they were
wonderful, but they were far better than some
beers Jodie gets, and perfectly drinkable.
Both seemed a bit gassy - something that would
only really become apparent much later.
After three cans, two of which I ended up
drinking by myself except for a quick taste by
Jodie, she asked if I had any cider. I did,
and while she drunk a sugary fruit cider I
drank a can of Guinness.
I am surprised three hours passed so
quickly yesterday afternoon. I was often a bit
bored because Jodie was spending so much time
on her phone, and in a way, so little drinking
was going on. If Jodie was in a drinking mood
we would have shared each can or bottle, and
so go through twice as many (although the
total amount I drank would have stayed the
same). I relieved the boredom by going out to
the kitchen to prepare the sprouts that were
to be part of my dinner.
I also dashed upstairs a few times to
check on a due delivery. The delivery actually
happened about 15 minutes after Jodie had
left. It was £55 worth of beer advent calendar
from the Brewdog Brewery. With other advent
calendars on their way I decided just to treat
this one as a source of a nice variety of
beers. There were 24 different brews all
from the same brewery. I have yet to open a
single one because I need to find out which
one have novelty value for Jodie, but also
because I was feeling I had enough beers for
the day.
I don't know if it was because all the
beers seemed a bit fizzy (with Guinness being
fizzy in a special way), or some other reason
for feeling a bit bloated. It was bad enough
that I didn't fancy the beef stew with red
beans and sprouts that I had carefully cooked
during the day. I had a few rice cakes with
cheese for dinner, but it wasn't very long
before I fancied something meaty. I opted for
a can of chunky soup like Irish Stew.
Maybe that Irish stew took me over the
top, because a couple of hours later when I
went to bed, after watching a bit of TV, I
felt quite uncomfortable. I think it was
actually a mixture of problems of which maybe
the bloat was almost a minor complaint. It
still meant I was belching quite a bit, and
later in the night I was passing some really
vile smelling wind ! My other complaints may
well have been related, but perhaps not to the
bloated feeling. Lots of bits of me, generally
joints, but also my back at one time, were
really sore and aching. On top of that I often
felt far too hot in bed.
It was a mild night, but it probably
wasn't mild enough that I could half uncover
myself for long periods in the night. It is
entirely possible that some of my aches were
the result of getting bits of me cold in the
night. For instance my right elbow, which has
very often been very calm since I stopped
taking the Clopidogrel blood thinners, was
really giving me a lot of pain last
night. My chest was often hurting to. I
probably made that worse when I executed a
strange manoeuvre to half twist my body while
trying to reach a tissue behind me. That ended
with a stab of blinding pain that felt like I
was ripping my chest apart.
Overall I did not get have a good sleep
last night. There were lots of times when I
felt too uncomfortable to relax properly. It
is amazing that I still managed to eventually
fall asleep at such time. I guess I may have
got 6 hours sleep in total, but most of it was
very poor quality sleep. I can imagine I'm
going to spend a lot of the afternoon snoozing
unless some excitement comes my way.
It somehow feels lucky that my blood
glucose has stayed in an acceptable area this
morning. It was a little high than yesterday,
but 8.6mmol/l is good enough. What I need to
do now is to take great care about what I eat
today. There is one flaw in that plan because
one of the things I planned to do today is to
get some shopping from Aldi. Top of the list
is detergent and fabric conditioner, but food
will also be involved. The other thing I need
to do today is a bit of laundry.
