My

Yesterday was even more pleasant than the day before. There was enough sunshine or sunny spells shining through my front windows to take the chill off my front rooms. My bedroom, which had cooled to about 16° C was warmed to just over 20° C, and while that is only 4° difference it was so welcome. Outside the temperature rose to at least the forecast 16° C, but I think if I had paid close attention to my thermometers I would have seen something a bit higher. The forecast for today omitted
a misty start to the day. It was the sort of start where
it was easy to believe that once the most had lifted
there would be some nice sunshine. The first version of
the forecast agreed with that idea, as did the BBC
weather forecast. The latest revision to the BBC
forecast still says there should be a few sunny spells a
bit later this morning, but the Met Office now says it
will remain grey until 4pm when it will get even darker
grey, and rain will start to fall. The BBC says the rain
could start at 3pm. Some of the rain may be very heavy
rain. Once again the temperature should reach 16° C.
Tomorrow should see random sunny spells popping up all
day, and the temperature should climb to 18° C.
Update: At approximately 8.30am the sun broke through the mist. The sky is now looking fairly blue with no nasty clouds visible to the south, or the north. It is hard to believe there could have been another good day, but yesterday was only marred by how cold it was indoors during the morning. I had to wrap up very warm until the sun started warming my front rooms. I seem to think the sun was a little slow breaking through the clouds yesterday morning. I don't think it was shining when I walked to Aldi, but it certainly was when I walked home again from Aldi. The rest of yesterday is described in my complete archived page for today. It includes another update on the weather, more pictures, stuff about dream, plus thoughts and plans this morning. |

Yesterday was a return to pleasant weather. There was a lot of sunshine/sunny spells/sunny periods yesterday. It was even sunny at 1pm when the forecast said the darkest clouds of the day would be. The only bad thing was that it was cold. The highest temperature was just 14° C, although it did feel warmer outside with the sun on the back of my winter coat. This morning was "warmer" than
yesterday morning with a temperature of 7° C - one
degree higher than yesterday morning, but still
perishing cold ! As I write this the sun is trying to
peep out under a bank of dark cloud to the east. The
latest revision to the forecast still shows sunny spells
for 8am, but when I look at the clouds in the sky I have
my doubts, but fingers crossed.... The only change to
the forecast in the latest revision is that the sunny
spells at 3pm has gone missing. It would be terribly
nice if reality turns out to include a lot more sunny
spells in the afternoon. I need them to warm up my front
rooms which are now quite chilly. The afternoon
temperature may reach 16° C today, and that is a small
improvement over yesterday. The temperature will
probably be the same tomorrow. However, after a couple
of hours of sunny spells in the morning it will probably
cloud over, and rain, some of it heavy, is predicted to
start as the afternoon is ending.
Yesterday was a good day - up until mid afternoon. The only important thing I did in the morning was to have a wet shave, wash my hair, and have a good shower. I have to say it was lovely with warm water cascading down me. I felt nice and warm for the first, and only time in the morning. Maybe drying my hair with the hair dryer was also warm, but it was really only my head that was warm. There is a fair bit more about yesterday, last night, and the start of this morning, and it can all be read in my complete archived page for today. It also includes a few photos. |

Yesterday was pretty horrible. Apart from maybe 2 very brief appearances there was not a hint of sunshine, and there were frequent outbreaks of drizzle. It was also rather cool at just 14° C. It was just 6° C at 7am, just
6° from a frost ! It is still not quite 7° C, but
getting there. The good news is that the sky is clear,
hence the very cold temperature, and the sun is shining.
Yesterday the forecast for today kept changing -
sometimes sunny, and sometimes raining. Let's hope the
latest revision this morning holds, but I have my
doubts. It says the sunshine/sunny spells should
continue until midday, and then start again at 6pm, and
only 6pm. I would not be surprised if that changes again
pretty soon. It is tradition that when leaving the pub
at 2pm on a Wednesday there is blinding sunshine (finger
crossed) ! With luck it should stay dry today, but even
the 15° C, shown in the latest revision, is going to
feel no more than almost tepid. Tomorrow is currently
forecast to be a bit of a mixed bag - some sunny spells
and some showers, but the temperature might briefly
touch 16° C.
I felt cold all day yesterday, and that heavily influenced how I felt. It was hard to raise the enthusiasm to do anything exciting. The only good thing is that I managed to control my appetite. Some of what I did yesterday was constrained by the need to be alert for 2 parcel deliveries. The first, a 12 pack of bottles of chilli sauce arrived before I finished writing yesterday. The second parcel deliver was much later in the day, and you can read about that, plus the rest of my day, night, and the start of this morning in my complete archived page for today. |

Apart for an hours break around 11am, and maybe similar short break or two in the afternoon, it seemed to rain all day yesterday. Most of it was very light rain, and it was hard to tell when it stopped or started, but there were heavier bursts, particularly at the start of the morning. The afternoon temperature only reached about 14° C making for quite a miserable day, and a huge change to Sunday when it was warm and sunny. It doesn't seem it at the
moment, but a lot of today should be brighter than
yesterday - not actually sunny, but light grey. The
latest revision to the forecast shows heavy rain for
9am, and lighter rain at 10am. More rain could fall at
1pm. It is going to be another very cool day with
possibly only a couple of hours at 14° C, and 13° C
being a bit more representative of the day. This morning
the temperature was almost as low as 9° C. Tomorrow may
start at just 8° C, but at least it could warm up to 15°
C in the afternoon. There could be a couple of sunny
spells, but most of tomorrow will probably be dull like
today.
After a good day on Sunday, yesterday was in complete contrast a rotten day. It was dull. It was wet, and it was cold ! My only real achievement yesterday was judging when there would be a long enough break in the rain to go shopping in Tesco. It may have been dry for an hour, but it felt so cold that I put on one of my winter coats, and left the front of it done up from the moment I left home until after I had got home again. It is sort of interesting to see what I wrote about the weather for this day a year ago - "While yesterday morning was quite wet, extremely wet for a while, the afternoon was mostly bright and sunny. There were a few times, particularly just after midday, when the clouds bubbled up and covered the sky, but they didn't last long. For my purposes (drying clothes) the more important feature in the afternoon was the wind. It was quite blowy for most of yesterday. In the morning it drove the rain in sheets along the road. In the afternoon it dried my clothes. With the temperature rising to no more than 18° C, and that only briefly, the wind did make it feel rather cool." Back to yesterday this year, and my whole day, night, and the start of this morning is described in my complete archived page for today. |

I suspect that all the sunshine or sunny spells we had yesterday may have raised the temperature a bit above 17° C, although when in the shade it did feel a little cool. There were a few times in the afternoon when some dark clouds drifted across the sky, and it did feel like it might rain, but half an hour, or even less later, the sun would break through again. The weather forecast has got
this morning about right. It is around 12° C, and thick
dark clouds make it very gloomy. I didn't actually see
any heavy rain falling, but it is certainly wet outside.
The rain is now so light that it is impossible to see it
from indoors, but maybe it has stopped for a while. The
latest revision to the forecast has only changed 9am to
light rain, but otherwise it is as shown in the
screenshot above - a cold and dull day. Tomorrow may
only feature some spells of light rain from a medium
bright cloudy sky, but at just 13° C it is going to feel
rather cold.
Yesterday was a rather good day with just one little catch in it. I was feeling better than many recent days, and the bright sunshine was beckoning me. Also, I had a strong desire to test my new camera in the real world. I managed to get myself ready to go out just before 11am, and emerged into warm sunshine wearing just my sleeveless denim jacket as my coat. I headed towards Catford station for a bit of train spotting. All the other details from yesterday, last night, and this morning, plus a few of the pictures I took, can be seen in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was not a warm day. The temperature only briefly hit 17° C, and 16° C was more representative of the day. The morning featured sunny spells, and there were a few sunny spells in the afternoon. One revision of the forecast said there could be a shower in the afternoon, but as far as I was aware it was a completely dry day. The sky is clear this morning,
and that means two things - a cold, but sunny morning.
The temperature almost dropped to 9° C, and was nearer
that than the 10° C forecast. With luck the temperature
will rise to 17° C today. Initial warming will come from
full on sunshine this morning, but by 1pm the clouds
will gradually cut off the sun for the rest of the day
(according to the latest revision). Tomorrow may start a
little warmer, 12° C, but may only rise to 14° C. We'll
be lucky to see the sun, and more likely to see rain -
particularly during the morning.
One important thing happened late last Friday afternoon. I got a text message from the nurse. When I saw her on Friday morning we discussed whether I should still be taking the blood thinner Clopidogrel. The original prescription from 2019 said it was only to be prescribed for 12 months, but that prescription was just duplicated every 2 months. The nurse consulted one of the doctors, and the decision was that the drug would not appear on new prescriptions. The hopeful outcome of this, plus a narrative n the rest of my day, night, and the start of this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today. |

It rains, mostly drizzle, but also some heavier falls, until midday, yesterday. The afternoon, and into the evening were generally dull, but there were a few short sunny spells. It was either that there was little wind, or I am getting acclimatised to autumn, but 17° C didn't feel cool - more sort of tepid. There is certainly some
sunshine this morning, and although it will soon just be
sunny spells, it should still continue to midday
according to the latest revision to the forecast. That
revision has reduced the sunny spells in the afternoon
to just 4pm, and 3pm is now shown as light rain ! There
is a 50% chance of it, and so it will probably happen.
Like yesterday, the afternoon temperature will peak at
17° C. Tomorrow may be a brighter day, but still the
sun, or sunny spells will not extend far into the
afternoon, but maybe it will stay dry. 17° C is shown as
the maximum temperature, but only for a single hour, and
16° C seems more representative.
I told the story of giving blood samples, and at the same time missing the postman with my new camera yesterday when I wrote a bit later than usual yesterday morning. From then on not much happened until late afternoon. My excuse for being lazy for half the morning, and half the afternoon is that I was feeling a bit tired after a poor night's sleep. The odd thing is that I cannot recall having a snooze at any time. All I did yesterday, with a couple of pictures, my good and bad sleep, plus a busy start to this morning, also with a picture, is described in my complete archived page for today. |

I think I am inclined to say that yesterday's weather was quite good. Like the previous few days there was far more sunshine than shown in the forecast. It wasn't part particularly warm outside, but I guess even one hour at 20° C is not too bad, and the sunshine did help warm up my front rooms. There is no doubt about it, it
is wet this morning. The rain, as drizzle, started at
7am by my reckoning, and I have personal experience that
it was drizzling on me at 8am. The rain could get
heavier for a while, but the latest revision to the
forecast shows the last rain at midday, an hour earlier
than shown in the screenshot above. Nothing else has
been changed. The rest of the day will be dull, and the
temperature may not rise any higher than 17° C - a mere
2° higher than this morning. Tomorrow may be dry, but
there could be white clouds all day, and no hint of
sunshine. The temperature will be about the same as
today.
Yesterday was another good day, although not in the same sense as the day before. Until something else comes to mind, which it probably will, I would say I did three useful things yesterday. The first was a shopping trip to Aldi. As usual I probably bought too much stuff with a limited shelf life, but also a fair amount of stuff with a long shelf life - provided I don't eat it all up too soon ! There is much more about yesterday, last night, and an "exciting" morning in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was surprisingly sunny. Mostly it was sunny spells, but there were some quite long periods of sunshine. It was a surprise because the forecast just said cloudy all day. I don't think it raised the temperature above the forecast 20° C, but it did feel quite warm in the sun. The most recent revision to
the forecast shows this morning as being sunnier than
the early version in the screenshot above. 10am is now
shown as full sunshine instead of cloudy, but sadly it
still shows no more sunshine after the sunny spells at
11am. Maybe it will be like yesterday, and I think like
the day before - unscheduled sunshine in the afternoon -
fingers crossed ! The temperature should hit 20° C
today, but maybe just for one single hour. It should
still feel mild or better. Tomorrow looks to be quite a
grey day with rain in the middle and end of the day. The
highest temperature could be as little as 17° C.
Yesterday was a very satisfactory day, although not perfect. The most important thing yesterday was my visit to the hospital for my diabetic eye scan. It is where they take photos of the back of the eye to check for things like leaking blood vessels. It is not completely painless. The only pain is that the eye drops they use to dilate the pupils do sting a bit for the first second or two. The story continues in my complete archived page for today which describes my day, night, and the start of this morning. |

Yesterday turned out to be a far better day than the weather forecast predicted. The early morning sunshine lasted almost until the afternoon, and the afternoon was bright with the occasional sunny spells. Even when there was no direct sunshine there was still enough heat leaking through the thin clouds to help raise the temperature in my front, south facing rooms. The forecast predicted an afternoon temperature of just 18° C, but I saw 20° C on a couple of my thermometers. The BBC weather forecast shows
sunny spells for the first 4 or 5 hours of this morning.
The Met Office seems to have come closer to the truth.
It says cloudy, and I would say it is overcast, dull,
and horribly grey as I write this. Both forecasts give
zero hope that there will be a single glimpse of
sunshine this afternoon, but it does say it should be
20° C. That would feel nice and warm in any sunshine,
but not with a grey sky leering down at us. The only
good thing you can say about today's cloud is that it
stopped this morning getting too cold. There is always
hope, but at the moment tomorrow's forecast looks to be
almost identical to that of today.
For the first time in a few days, yesterday was a good, and productive day (for certain values of productive). The day started with assorted aches and pains. The most annoying of which was (presumably) all the scar tissue in my chest, after my operation in 2013, aching in a way that was not a strong pain, but an exceedingly annoying pain. That, and maybe a few other pains, seemed to fade away by mid morning. The rest of my day, part illustrated with a picture and a video, is all described in my complete archived page for today. As boringly usual, it also includes last night and the start of this morning. |

There were some unexpected sunny spells yesterday afternoon. They raised my front rooms temperature to just about warm, and the outside temperature almost hit 19° C - a couple of degrees higher than forecast. The latest revision to the
forecast has added some more sunshine this morning to
better match current reality. This nice sunshine should
last to 9am, and hopefully longer. The next sunshine
might be at 3pm. The rest of the day will be dull with a
10% chance of rain at any time. The temperature today
should reach 18° C, and maybe if the sun manages to stay
out even longer it might even push that up to 19° C.
Tomorrow could be sunny until 2pm, and that should raise
the temperature to a pleasant 20° C.
Yesterday was one of those days that was a waste of a day. I did so little yesterday. There were several reasons for that, but the biggest was the continuing domination of the world by the professional mourners for our dead queen. There was no point going to the shops yesterday - they were all closed. The main Tesco was closed all day, but the smaller "big corner shop" style stores were supposed to open at 5pm. Oddly enough there seemed to be a full train service yesterday. While I didn't really do much yesterday, I do seem to have written a fair bit of stuff about the day in my complete archived page for today. It includes stuff like chest pains at night, and a couple of minor triumphs this morning. |

Yesterday's weather forecast was close to correct. The morning was cold but generally sunny. The afternoon was still rather cool, and it was mostly grey. The morning temperature was, by my measurements, just 9° C, and the afternoon possibly reached 18° C, a degree higher than forecast. The only oddity was that there was some unexpected light rain at just gone 7pm. I am unsure how long it continued, but it was probably just a passing shower. This morning it is 12° C, but
with no supporting sunshine it feels just as cold as
yesterday's 9° C. The chance of any sun today looks slim
in the extreme. In fact the latest revision to the
forecast has changed 4 and 5pm to dark grey clouds.
There is only a 10% chance of rain at any time today,
and that make me think that it will probably rain at
some time today. The highest temperature will be 17° C -
which will still feel cold with no sunshine.
Tomorrow may reach 18° C, but with only a small of a
sunny spell at 8am it will be as dull and cold as today.
Time again to decide if yesterday was a good day, or a bad day....or something in between. Maybe it was the latter - bits were good, and others less so. The very worst thing was the horrendously high blood glucose reading in the morning. I still had a most enjoyable breakfast of reheated naan bread with a vegetable curry side dish on it. The rest of my complete archived page for today includes stuff about cold, pain, booze, eating, sleeping, sweating, and just a tiny bit of good news this morning. |

Yesterday was notably rather cool - even indoors. The day started at closer to 7° C than the forecast 9° C. There was loads of sunshine yesterday, and that did help warm up my front, south facing, rooms, and for a few hours I guess they did feel close to warm, Meanwhile, the outside temperature didn't go above 17° C. The sky seems to be fairly
clear this morning, and all my thermometers agree that
at 7am it was barely 9° C. So another cold start, but
there could be either sunny spells or full sunshine
until midday. After that it will probably revert to a
dull, but dry day, although there is a 10% chance of
rain some time later this afternoon - maybe 3pm, or
maybe 5pm according to the latest revision. The
temperature should match yesterday at 17° C. Tomorrow
forecast shows a milder morning, but the same old 17° C
in the afternoon. There may be some sunny spells in the
middle of the day and there may be some extremely dull
hours.
I guess that yesterday was another semi-successful day, but I do feel I didn't make all that much use of a rare (for the moment) bright and sunny day. My final thoughts when I was writing yesterday morning where that I wondered if I would feel good enough to go out exploring on the trains. Like many times in the past, it was only with hindsight that I realised I could have gone out with little problem. What I did do yesterday is described in my complete archive page for today. It includes a sort of disaster, how I slept, and the result of that disaster this morning. |

Yesterday didn't seem so bad. There were a few more sunny spells than the forecast predicted. It was dry, and the temperature reached 16° C. That temperature was a bit disappointing, but it didn't seem to feel that cool, and maybe it wasn't. The sunshine did a good job of warming my front rooms, and maybe that is why I think it seemed to be a warmer day than forecast. Clear skies means a nice
bright sunny morning, but it also allowed the
temperature to drop a lot during the night. My
thermometers showed the temperature nearer 7° C than 8°
C, and definitely a lot cooler than the forecast 9° C.
The possibility of solid sunshine until mid afternoon,
followed by sunny spells, will only raise the
temperature to just 17° C. I've just checked and the
forecast has been revised. It now shows 9am as being 9°
C, and that means the forecasters have confessed that
this morning started a degree cooler than originally
forecast. It also shows the full sunshine continuing
until 5pm, but still the maximum temperature is stuck at
17° C. This time last year the forecast was for 21° C,
which is the sort of figure we might expect from mid
September. Today's weather seems more appropriate for
mid October. Tomorrow may start at a far more reasonable
11° C, but will still only rise to 17° C - which is
surprising considering only a couple of hours of sunny
spells is the best that is currently predicted for the
whole day.
I think I can say that yesterday was a good day, although there were some negative aspects to it. The whole day hinged on my appointment with the nurse for my diabetes check up. There was also the minor joy of a parcel delivery, and some delightful food for dinner in the evening. With hindsight my delightful dinner was not really a good idea. Read why, and about everything else yesterday, last night, and this morning in my complete archived page for today. |

No sunshine was forecast for yesterday, but after a dull morning it was bright, and there were some sunny spells. They did little for the temperature which never rose much above 18° C, if indeed if ever did rise above that. Yesterday's low daytime
temperature gave a very cool night, and I think 12° C
could easily be called a cold morning. There is a choice
of weather today. The cheery version is the BBC's
weather forecast - sunny spells and even occasional full
sunshine through the day. The Met Office is far more
pessimistic as can be seen in the screenshot above.
There has been one revision to the forecast since I took
the screenshot, but nothing has changed except the
starting time (now 8am instead of 7am). It is looking
like we are heading far deeper into autumn with the
highest daytime temperature of a very cool 16° C.
Tomorrow morning may start at just 9° C, but a possible
day of full sunshine should raise it to 16° C again.
I don't have a lot to show for it, but yesterday felt mostly like a good day. During the morning I conducted a careful study in being alert while not doing much. I was waiting for a delivery of 15 or 16 bottles and cans of beer. Just before I finished writing yesterday, I knew it was expected to arrive between 12:56 and 13:56, but it was lucky I stayed alert because it arrived at 12:17 BST. The rest of my day. and my terrible night. and fairly good start to this morning is described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday started as a dull and drizzly day, but earlier than expected the clouds broke up, and the sun burst through. That was not forecast to happen until 4pm, but the first sunshine was just after midday. It was as sunny spells rather than full sunshine, but they were long spells with only short gaps. They continued until almost sunset. Once again I forgot to keep a close eye on the thermometer, but I am certain it hit the predicted 21° C, and possibly a degree or two higher. The forecast seems to be
unsure as to when it will be dull, or very dull this
morning. The reality seems to be that it is currently
very dull, but it is dry. It is also one of the coolest
mornings we have had since summer ended. It is just 14°
C right now. No sunshine at all is predicted for
today, and so the temperature will only rise to a mere
18° C. In turn, that means a cold night, and maybe just
13° C at this time tomorrow. The could be a fair bit of
sunshine tomorrow, but the maximum temperature tomorrow
could be as low as 16° C. It feels like October, or even
November weather is almost upon us !
I guess I should record yesterday as being a rather good day. In the grand scheme of things it wasn't, or at least not like life used to be, or I imagine it used to be, but for the current standard it was pretty good. On the other hand, there was some specific negativity involved. All this is explained...well, sort of, in my complete archived page for today. My night, and the start of this morning are also described. |

Yesterday was a nasty sort of day. It was mostly dull with random falls of drizzle. It was also not that warm. The temperature only reached about 19° C. I guess in another month or so that would be regarded as good. The latest revision to the
forecast doesn't seem to have changed anything. This
morning is dull and drizzly, and late afternoon may be
sunny. If we are lucky this divide in the weather may
cross us earlier, and bring the sunshine earlier, but of
course it could be later as well. Once the sun comes out
it should raise the temperature to 21° C. Tomorrow could
be a toned down version of today. A dull, but maybe dry
morning, and only sunny spells in the late afternoon.
The maximum temperature may only be 19° C tomorrow.
Looking further ahead, I think we have some very chilly
nights coming in a week or so.
I did something yesterday that I have never done before. I asked for a delivery to be delayed for a day. The rest of my day was rather dull - just like the weather. I felt very lethargic for most of the day, and I don't know if it was a side effect of my Covid booster jab the day before, or if it was just the weather. It was probably both with a bit of poor sleep thrown in for good measure. I did do a few other things, and they are described along with my night, and the start to this morning in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was a nice day. There were sunny spells, and even some long sunny periods until late afternoon when the clouds finally closed in, but the forecast showers in the late afternoon/early evening didn't materialise. It was quite a warm day with the temperature reaching 25° C, and it didn't seem to cool much in the evening. It seems today will be a very
grey day with some rain. The latest revision to the
forecast shows 1om as being dry, but the chance of rain
at 2 and 3pm has been raised to 80%, and it is probably
going to be heavy rain. Lighter rain is expected from
7pm tonight. It is going to be a lot cooler than
yesterday with a high of just 19° C. Tomorrow could
start off wet, but the afternoon is currently predicted
to be sunny with a temperature of 21° C. In complete
contrast, the BBC reckon today will be dry until 8pm,
and even then there is only a moderately low chance of
rain until later in the evening. It still shows the day
as being horribly gloomy !
I have already described the first half of yesterday in my very late in the day writing yesterday. At the end of that I said I was very much looking forward to an afternoon nap. Before I could do that I had a much lighter lunch than I was imagining I would have. It was just 4 rice cakes with some cheese on them. I also had to do a couple of things on my PC, but then I retired to lay on my bed to read and snooze. My afternoon, my night, and thoughts at the start of this morning are described in my complete archived page for today. |

As almost as expected, after a foggy start the fog lifted to reveal a nice sunny day, albeit more sunny spells than sunshine, but some of those sunny spells lasted a long time ! I must admit I didn't keep an eye on my thermometers, but I think it was possibly a little warmer than the 22° C forecast. So far today there has been
more sunshine/sunny periods/spells than was shown in the
forecast at 6am this morning. The latest revision starts
from midday, and has just turned midday as I type these
words. It says midday will be cloudy. Maybe midday has
only just started, and things could change during the
next hours, but it is still sunny, and the clouds still
seem thin with plenty of blue sky still visible. 1 to
3pm are shown as sunny, and then it might get dull. At
6pm there could be a shower, but it should be dry
afterwards. The temperature prediction has been reduced
by a degree to be just 24° C this afternoon. Tomorrow
will probably be a lot cooler. The day will be overcast,
but dry until mid morning. After that the chances of
rain increase a lot.
Yesterday was a good day. At least I think it was, but perhaps I should have doubts because I don't think I did anything memorable enough in the morning to actually remember what I did at all ! Maybe it was just the afternoon that was good. The afternoon involved drinking, and of course that is generally good. All the relevant bits of yesterday, plus last night, and all of this morning are described in my complete archived page for today. |

In a typical attempt by the weather to bamboozle me, much of yesterday afternoon was bright with quite a lot of not forecast sunny spells. The morning was as dull as forecast though, although I think there was one brief sunny spell in the morning. The temperature rose to about 21° C, just as forecast. The most important, and
obvious weather feature this morning was missing from
both the BBC and Met Office (screenshot above) forecasts
this morning.
I really didn't feel enthused to do anything yesterday (thanks to the very dull start to the day). However, in the end I did do two important things, and I guess I can stretch it to say that yesterday was a successful day. Of those two things, one was to do some laundry, and the other was to pay off one of my credit cards. All the details of this, and about the rest of my day, night, and this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today. |

The weather seemed to be unpredictable yesterday. The various revisions of the weather forecasts had the right ingredients, but not at times that reflected reality. All we knew is that there was going to be some heavy rain at some time or another. The biggest omission was that the afternoon did include some nice sunny spells in between showers. As is usually the case, the forecast for an afternoon high of 19° C was about right. I had high hopes for a nicer
day, but the forecast for today shows it will be mostly
a dull day. It has certainly been very dull so far this
morning, and the idea of sunny spells at 9am doesn't
seem likely when I look at the sky. Maybe there will be
a sunny spell or two later today. The highest chance of
rain today is just 10%, and so it will probably be dry,
and it seems it may be a little less cool today with an
afternoon high of 21° C. Tomorrow is currently shown as
having a few more chances of sunny spells, and even when
cloudy it could be lighter cloud. It may even reach 22°
C in the afternoon.
For some reason I tend to think of yesterday as being a good or successful day. In reality I only did one significant thing. The rest of my day was almost a lazy day, but even that may not be quite correct when measured against one metric. However it is measured, I definitely had a lazy hour or two after I had finished writing yesterday. I started writing quite late, and it usually takes a couple of hours to write all this because I am not a touch typist ! Today was no exception, and you can read all I typed this morning in my complete archived page for today. |

There was some sunshine yesterday, but it was far outweighed by the amount of rain that fell. I did hear some distant thunder around midday, but it never came close. It was a cool day with the temperature only reaching about 19° C. It is going to be another very
dull, and damp day, but maybe it won't be quite as bad
as the early forecast shown above. The latest revision
only shows rain at 1pm, and amid all the gloom there
could be full sunshine at 7pm. I must admit that does
sound unlikely, but fingers crossed. In fact the sun is
making a valiant attempt to push through the clouds as I
type this, and I can see a few blue areas of sky. I
predict the next revision to the forecast, at 10am, will
show a different picture again. The afternoon high seems
fixed at 19° C, although that may only be for 2
hours, and the rest of the day will be cooler. Tomorrow
may be mostly dull, but sunny spells are possible from
late afternoon, and the temperature might reach 22° C
for a couple of hours.
Yesterday I suggested I might do two shopping trips. I did the first, but not the second. The first, a shopping trip to Aldi, was probably my greatest achievement of the week....maybe. The significance of it all was that after a lot of rain the sky brightened a bit, the rain had stopped, and I walked to Aldi. On the way back I was bathed in warm sunshine, but to the west I could see very dirty grey clouds piling up. Rain was minutes away when I got home ! The rest of the details of my day, night, and this morning can be read in my complete archived page for today. |

Until early evening yesterday was a dry, and frequently sunny day. hat was in contrast to the forecast that was adamant that there would be rain, and even a thunderstorm in the middle of the day. I'm not even sure they got the temperature prediction right this time. Only 20° C was forecast, but walking in the sunshine definitely felt warmer than that. I thought today's forecast had
got off to a bad start. It looked as if it would be a
sunny morning, but we have just had a moderately heavy
shower. It remains to be seen if 8am will feature heavy
rain, and if there will be thunder and lightning at 1
and 2pm. I suspect today is another day when the
forecasters have thrown random symbols at the weather
chart to see what sticks, and they will re-arrange them
as the day progresses. The only thing we can be sure of
is that the afternoon temperature will briefly touch 19°
C. Tomorrow mostly shows light rain for most of the day,
and maybe getting heavier towards the evening. Once
again the temperature will just touch 19° C.
I can finally say that yesterday was a good day ! The only bad thing was that I walked through the park wearing a raincoat, and got very hot because I was walking in mostly bright sunshine instead of through a thunderstorm. The weather forecast insisted there was a 60% chance of a thunderstorm right up to the very minute there wasn't one ! The full description of yesterday, with a couple of pictures, plus my night, and the start of this morning can be read in my compete archived page for today. |

Once again the weather forecast showed the main ingredients for yesterday's weather, but not when would happen. Having said that, one revision to the forecast did come close. They got the morning sunshine about right, but the first very heavy fall of rain, albeit without any thunder and lightning, was sort of close to 4pm at about 2pm. There was another very heavy fall of rain around 6 or 7pm. I think there may have also been a lot of rain in the night. The prediction of an afternoon temperature of 21° C may have been a bit on the low side, but the temperature did fluctuate a lot during the day. It was a rather cool night,
and I think it is still closer to 15° C rather than the
16° C forecast. The sky is clear enough to give sunshine
right now, and not sunny spells. The latest revision
shows sunny spells at 11am giving away to a thunderstorm
at midday, and then heavy rain at 1pm. There could be
further thunderstorms at 3pm, 10pm and 11pm. I don't
think I have ever seen so many thunderstorms forecast as
in the last week or so, and for at least a few days to
come. Today could be a cool 20° C. Tomorrow could be
just 19° C, and the day will be mostly wet with either
light showers or thunderstorms !
I don't think I can describe yesterday as a good day, although ultimately one plan, after some modification, worked well. Less well was the laundry I did. I had hoped to hang it on the line so it could start to dry in a bit of sunshine, but I left it a bit late for that. By the time I was ready to hang it up to dry the sky was looking very threatening, and I opted to dry it on a clothes horse indoors. The rest of yesterday, day and night, plus the start of this morning, is described in my complete archived page for today. |

As I suspected, yesterday's weather forecast was far from accurate....although on second thoughts the first version of it wasn't far off. It was later revisions that seemed to move it further from reality. The first few hours of the morning were sunny, just as predicted. At 1.30pm there was rain, but it was just a light passing shower that lasted little more the 5 minutes. The original forecast did say heavy rain for 1pm. There were occasional bright spells, and also a few very grey spells through the day. The temperature rose to the predicted 22° C, but the 10pm thunderstorm was not predicted in any revision of the forecast. The forecast has just been
revised again, and an extra hour of sunshine/sunny
spells has been added to 9am - this just as it looks
like the clouds are now thickening, andd we may lose the
sun before 9am. Light rain, instead of a thunderstorm is
now shown for 4pm, and 3pm could be dry. 6 and 7pm have
now changed from light rain to thunderstorms. It is
another day where anything could happen except the
temperature prediction of 21° C. It is worth noting that
the BBC weather forecast shows thundery showers for the
whole afternoon ! Tomorrow may be a degree cooler, and
feature light rain from mid morning to mid afternoon,
but I expect that forecast to change umpteen times until
the day has passed.
Yesterday was a day where I thought I needed to fast until dinner time because of my high blood glucose reading (10.3mmol/l). To avoid further suspense I can say I managed it despite the double temptation of two shopping trips. There was also the temptation to break my fast when I checked my blood glucose at midday, and it was down to a satisfactory 8.6mmol/l. The rest of my day, including other temptations, is described in my complete archive page for today which also includes my night, and first thoughts this morning. |

The weather was a bit variable yesterday - just like quite a few previous days. The forecast would change hour by hour to try and make a valid prediction. Mostly that meant shuffling around the hours when sunny spells were expected. Despite some clouds, yesterday was a generally bright day, and in the end there were possibly more sunny spells than the forecasts predicted. The prediction of 23° C turned out to be about right, but the humidity often made it feel a bit warmer. The great unknown today is
rain. At 1am this morning the forecast was revised to
include rain, and at 2am it was revised to show the
thunderstorm that had just happened to happen an hour
later ! Now the forecast has been revised again since
taking the screenshot above. It correctly shows the
sunshine now, but it now shows rain from 1pm to 4pm, and
with the possibility that the rain will be heavy enough
for a thunderstorm at 4pm. From 5pm it may be sunny
again. I rather expect the forecast to change through
the day in the hope that it may reflect reality. As
usual, the bit that is usualy right is the temperature
and it seems we can expect 22° C this afternoon.
Tomorrow afternoon could include a lot of rain, and it
will be a cooler day at just 21° C. It truly is the
start of autumn !
I had a very lazy morning yesterday. Apart from showering, and getting dressed, I did almost nothing except quietly read my book. I even snoozed for 10 minutes or so. Despite some good sleep in the previous few days, I still seemed to feel sleepy, and it was sleepy rather than tired. I didn't go out, but if I had, like I did the day before, I would have found plenty of energy for it. I think some of the sleepiness is actually caused by depression, and that in turn is caused by boredom. As, maybe, boringly usual, the rest of my day, night, and this morning are described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was a better day than the forecasts suggested it would be. It was bright all day, and there were sunny spells in most hours of daylight. The temperature peaked at 23° C, but like the day before it seemed very close. The one time I went out it felt hotter than standing in the sun on a day with the temperature up near 30° C. Today has started off rather
dull, but the latest revision to the forecast has added
a few more random sunny spells to the day. It seems like
today could be similar to yesterday, and probably with
the same high humidity making 23° C feel very
sticky. The full forecast does show very hight
humidity this morning, but it may drop a lot by the
afternoon, and apparently that 23° C could feel like 21°
C. At the moment it looks like tomorrow will be similar
to today, which is looking similar to the day before.
Yesterday didn't go that well, and it was initially all to do with another minor gut upset. It didn't really happen until after I had finished writing and was feeling a bit optimistic about the day. Unlike last week I couldn't describe it as "the runs", but "gentle trots" would probably fit the bill. It didn't really last long, but it happened late in the morning when I was trying to plan what I was going to do for the rest of the day. I did go out later in the morning, but it was only to get some shopping. My whole day, night, and this morning, is described in my complete archived page for today. |

There wasn't a lot of sunshine yesterday. The forecast predicted sunny spells for a few hours after midday, and I think there were some, but nothing really sticks out in my memory. The temperature reached about 24° C in the afternoon, but it felt hot and humid well before that. I wondered if it was just me, but my postman confirmed that he was sweating despite walking no faster than usual. I think today is another day
where the weather can't really be predicted. The first
clue was the thunderstorm shown for 2pm in the
screenshot above. Sitting there all on it's own seemed
like the forecasters way of saying "something is going
to happen, but we don't know what". This is further
confirmed by the latest revision to the forecast. It now
says heavy rain at 1pm, and light rain at 3pm. 2pm is
now just shown as cloudy - just white cloud. As I write
this it has been sunny for the last hour, and so that
bit of the forecast was mildly wrong. The only constant
is the temperature which is forecast to be 23° C.
Tomorrow could be bright with many sunny spells, and
even full hours of sunshine, but once again the
temperature will only be 23° C.
Yesterday was a good day with 3 or 4 useful things achieved. The first achievement was going to Lewisham Hospital's Covid-19 vaccination centre, and asking about the 4th, booster shot. The first person I spoke to was a bit disappointing. She didn't seem to know what I was asking, but her (possible) colleague, sitting 10ft away, understood instantly. She confirmed that, yes, they would be starting the booster shots on the 12th September, and it would be a walk in service. The rest of the good news, plus the details of my day, night, and this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today. |

The sun was rarely seen, but yesterday felt almost warm. It was a mostly dry day, but the garden did get a reasonable watering at about 10am, and the rain forecast for mid afternoon actually happened in one big burst at about 11pm last night. The temperature reached about 22° C, but somehow the breeze felt a bit warmer. It is a slightly murky and
damp looking morning, but at least it is not too cool.
The latest revision to the forecast has increased the
sunny spells/intervals from just 2 hours in the
screenshot above, to 4 hours between midday to 3pm. It
may stay dry until 11pm tonight. Yesterday there was
hope that today might reach 25° C, but it seems 24° C
is the highest temperature for today. Tomorrow may get
off to a good start with some sunshine in the morning,
but a few hours of light rain is possible from midday.
The rest of the day will be cloudy with an afternoon
temperature of 23° C.
Maybe, in contrast to some recent days, I can describe yesterday as being almost a normal day, although the definition of "normal" is not really determined. I have to admit that I did very little in the morning. I felt sort of lazy, and I didn't even have my morning shower until almost midday. The one thing I predicted I might do, going shopping in Tesco, didn't happen. Other stuff did happen yesterday, including quite a bit of sleep. The day and the start of this morning are all described in my complete archived page for today. |

By meteorological rules, yesterday was the last day of summer (but not by astronomical rules). The weather did it's best to be like summer, and to some extent it succeeded. Much of the day was sunny, and particularly in the sunshine it did feel warm although the afternoon temperature may not have been higher than the forecast 22° C. So today is the first day of
autumn according to the weather forecasters, and the
weather will be very appropriate for autumn. The
latest revision to the forecast adds rain, possibly
heavy rain into a long run of dull weather. That could
be at 10am. There is also a 30% chance of ran at 5, 6,
8 and 9pm. Curiously enough some sunny spells are now
shown for 2pm. I guess 22° C is more like late summer
than autumn. Towards late afternoon the temperature
could reach 25° C tomorrow, and the afternoon should
feature sunny spells. Maybe today is just a practice
run for autumn, and the real autumn weather is still a
bit further away.
Once again I will describe yesterday as another strange day, but it was a different sort of strangeness. The strangeness was possibly my reaction when I saw Angela at lunchtime, but before that the only strangeness was to do with getting a lot of stuff done in the morning earlier than usual. I guess my unusually low blood glucose reading was a bit strange, although there was a sane reason for that. All the strangeness, and not so strange stuff of my day yesterday, including my night, and this morning, is all described in my complete archive page for today. |
