Today has started
very cold. As forecast, it was indeed -3° C at
8am, and it may well take until 11am until
zero is reached, and 3pm before the
temperature reaches it's peak of just 4° C
today. The latest revision has only changed
1pm from sunshine to sunny spells. Other than
that it should be bright and sunny all day. It
is just a shame all that sunshine it too weak
to warm things up outside. Oh well, at least
the warning for fog came to nothing.
Tomorrow should see a similar range of
temperature, but there may be almost no
sunshine at all. Next Wednesday may feature
mist and fog, but that could change to
anything over the next few days.
It was interesting looking back
at my first ever post on this website, and
other early entries. Twenty years ago I wrote
very brief entries, and it made me think that
these days my entries are very bloated. The
main problem is that it takes up too much of
the morning to write them. On the other hand I
do write stuff that could be
useful/interesting just to me in the future.
Well that would be fine if there was some sort
of indexing so I could search for stuff I ate
that made my blood glucose increase, but I
can't be bothered to complicate things.
I had a good lie in this morning, and I
feel I should make some sort of attempt at
keeping it brief today. In some ways that
should be easy because almost nothing happened
yesterday. I was initially saving myself for
the evening, but by early afternoon it became
obvious that it was unlikely I would be going
out in the evening. The revisions to the
weather forecast, showing how it was going to
be even colder last night, were very
instrumental in confirming my decision to stay
in the warm last night.
I spent the rest of yesterday morning
just relaxing by reading, and I think I even
had a short snooze. That also describes a fair
bit of the afternoon until I started seeking
out, and downloading stuff to put on my PC. I
followed that with binge watching more rips of
my DVD box set of every Futurama episode made.
There is still a long way to go - I have still
not finished watching all of series 3 - and
there are 8 series in total.
My breakfast was the usual instant
noodles. Lunch was a bit more expansive than
usual. It was three slices of cheese on toast,
plus a Matterson's smoked sausage. The latter
didn't seem as good as they used to be. Maybe
I have been spoiled by some of the smoked
Polish sausage I occasionally eat. Dinner was
rather unusual. It was, in effect, fish and
chips. The chips were thick cut oven chips,
and the fish was a couple of Aldi fish burger
(patties). I had hoped it would be a lot nicer
than it actually was.
Considering not a lot was happening,
the day seemed to pass by quite quickly, and
maybe the evening passed even more quickly. I
didn't realise how late it was getting when I
stopped watching Futurama episodes. That would
have been fine if it were not the case that I
was getting so close to the end of the book I
had been reading. It was gone 11pm, maybe even
midnight, when I read the last words, put down
the book, turned out the light, and went to
sleep.
Last night it did seem that I was going
to stay awake, but after 5, 10, 15, ?? minutes
I went out like a light. It was one of those
nights when I can barely remember getting up
for pee, and after each pee I seemed to fall
asleep again in minutes. At 5am I turned the
heater up full, and I don't think I can
remember waking up again until about 7.50am.
That is about the latest ever ! One thing that
could have changed my night is if the
threatened mist and/or fog had descended.
While the memory of it is vague, I am very
sure I did check how it looked outside on my
way back to bed after going to have a pee.
Had I seen fog outside I may, but only
may, have got up extra early so I could put on
my thick, hooded winter coat, and gone for a
walk through the fog. I think I am probably
glad I didn't do that because even in my
warmest clothes I would probably still have
chilled something that would ache for the rest
of the day....still, it might have made for
some good pictures, but no fog makes the
decision mute.
One thing I forgot to mention is that
after my fish and chips I had the second sweet
juicy orange of the day (the first was during
the afternoon). That orange, plus the chips,
and even the batter the fish burgers came in,
contained enough sugar to raise my blood
glucose to 9.0mmol/l this morning. That is
annoying rather than being of any great worry,
providing it doesn't go up even higher
tomorrow.
Today I want to do a bit of shopping,
and it will probably be in Tesco. Top of my
shopping list is a white cabbage, but a few
other things should be useful. Later this
afternoon Jodie should be over for another
beer tasting session. Hopefully we shall have
a few good beers, but I expect I'll be topping
up with some beers I know I will like (or hope
I will).
