Today's weather
forecast looks a lot like yesterday's with a
small change - today could see 8° C from mid
afternoon. Today also started a degree or so
less cold than yesterday, but the dark clouds
from about 11am to 3pm are going to make it
feel chilly. Those dark clouds bring a 10%
chance of rain, but no rain is expected to
fall. Tomorrow should see lighter clouds, and
a lot of sunny spells at first, and then
sunshine later - maybe. It could see the
temperature peak at 9° C. It will be start of
trend towards slightly better, or just warmer
weather for much of the week ahead.
Yesterday was almost another day
of rest, but I did do two things that needed a
modicum of physical effort. The first was a
shopping trip to Tesco where I was very
selective in what I bought. I didn't buy
anything that was instant temptation. The
second thing I did was to hand wash a pair of
lounge pants, a t-shirt, and some underwear.
Apart from leaving it soaking while I went out
shopping, I did the rest of the process in one
go.
There was one thing I didn't do, and
that was to eat a lot before dinnertime came
around, although it was a close run thing - as
I have just remembered. I did buy one little
temptation from Tesco. It was a bag of
Batchelors "chip shop curry" flavoured
instant noodles. I thought it was only a
small portion, and unlikely to make a big
difference, but maybe it did make a very small
bad difference. I will admit I only bought it,
and tried it because I was curious. Curiosity
is now satisfied, and the result was they were
nothing to get excited about, and best avoided
in the future.
I think it was possibly while I was
actually shopping, but it could have been
earlier, that I decided I would order an
Indian takeaway for my dinner. After lazing
through some of the afternoon, and then
starting to binge watch Futurama episodes, I
order made a slightly more disciplined order
from The Baburchi Indian take away. I ordered
two main dishes, two side dishes, and two
portions of rice, plus a naan bread.
The good thing I have discovered about
that takeaway is that they use very little oil
in the main dishes, and in theory they should
be healthier. In practice that does seem to be
the case, although their vegetable side dishes
are very oily. It was almost 7pm when I had my
dinner, and it was one main, one vegetable
side dish, and one rice. I also ate the free
poppadoms that came with the order.
I couldn't seem to find any broadcast
TV that I fancied watching last night, and
stuck to Futurama until I had watched every
episode in series three. After that I read in
bed for maybe as much as an hour. After
putting the book down, and turning out the
lights, I tried to get to sleep. It did seem
to take a long time. I may have started to try
to sleep from about 10pm. I can't be sure, but
I reckon it took something like half an hour
before I fell asleep.
Just before midnight I woke up again.
It was to have a pee, although not with any
great urgency. I was really surprised when I
saw the time. I can't remember anything about
them now, or even later than a few minutes
after waking up, but I know I had quite a few
dreams, and they seemed to last for a
subjective time of hours...or so it seemed. I
was quite astonished to see I had no more than
2 hours sleep.
It took very little effort to get back
to sleep, and on the whole I slept well, and
overslept well too until I got up quite late.
I did the same as most nights lately, I did
most of my sleep with the heater on low, but
turned it full at around 5am when I needed a
pee. It did seem that I woke up to pee less
times than usual. That suggested another low
blood glucose reading coming up.
Sadly, my blood glucose was 9.0mmol/l
this morning. I had been hoping it would be
nearer yesterday's reading of 8.0mmol/l. While
my blood glucose had gone up, my weight had
come down to close to average, and could be
even lower if I make another generous deposit
in the toilet - which after curry could be
likely, although I seem to feel fairly
comfortable at the moment.
I have two plans for today. The first
is to have a lunch of melted cheese (and
possibly ham) on naan bread. The second is to
try and force myself out to a gig this
afternoon. The Bust Stops, who I have never
seen before, but I have met the lead singer in
the past, and I know they are partly (or
wholly) a Hollies tribute band. I know Nathan,
the lead singer, is a Hollies is a huge fan of
The Hollies, and that is why I suspect they
will be covering many, or more Hollies songs.
The Hollies did quite a few good songs, but I
can't say I am a great fan. The main
attraction of the gig is that it is a 4pm
start, while it is still light, and the gig is
easy to get to in Greenwich. I could stay for
an hour or so, and still be home too early for
my next Indian takeaway for dinner. If I feel
very enthusiastic I might even go by train (if
in service today) and do a little bit of rail
photography too !
