Today is one of
those rare days when the BBC and Met Office
agree that a mix of sunshine and sunny spells
will continue through the morning, and up to
2pm this afternoon (2 hours longer than in the
early screenshot above). The Met Office
is a bit more generous in their temperature
prediction. They say that most of the high
temperature will be 17° C, but in the middle
there will be one hour at 18° C. The BBC
reckon 16° C is about as high as it will get
today. The rest of the afternoon may include a
sunny spell, but generally it will be white
cloud - which will hopefully make it still
seem to be bright. There are two views on
tomorrow's weather. The Met Office say much of
the day will be bright, but midday to 2pm may
feature grey clouds and light rain. The BBC
say mostly sunny spells all day tomorrow. Both
forecasters agree on a high of 17° C.
Yesterday was a very variable sort of
day. I found I had very little enthusiasm for
anything. That could be blamed on a hangover
after getting drunk at the beer tasting
session the previous day, but maybe not, or
not as much. A more significant thing was
possible my upset guts. After a few
very
productive visits to the toilet my guts did
not feel good. There was a lingering feeling
of a dull ache, and probably more because they
were empty, my guts were often growling or
gurgling.
I had zero enthusiasm to go out, and
besides I felt reluctant to disturb my duct
tape patch to the crack in the bath. I will
have to test it sooner or later, and that
almost certainly means today, but yesterday I
didn't wash, and so did not inflict my smelly
self onto the general public. I preferred to
just lay down and read for a fair bit of the
day. I think it was around 11am that I had a
small snack. For some reason I can't quite
remember if it was any more than a chunk of
cheese.
Whatever it was seemed to calm my
stomach a bit, and so I decided on something
more substantial for lunch. Fortunately I had
just the thing in the fridge - two potato,
leak, and cheese individual pies bought from
the reduced price shelf in Tesco. They had to
be eaten very soon, and yesterday seemed like
the perfect time. They weren't bad, but I
expected them to be far more flavourful than
they actually were. They almost completely
cleared the rumbles from my guts, but maybe
not the very gentle soreness.
I spent quite a few hours in the
afternoon going through the pile of loose CD-R
and DVD-R disks that I had first started a few
days ago. Some of the time I just had to let
my PC get on with the job by itself as it
ripped home made DVDs back into MP4 files. It
makes me wonder what happened to the original
files I used to make the DVDs. The originals
would have been a bit better quality, and
possibly not scaled to the standard for video
DVD disks.
It is a bit difficult to say when
evening starts in these longer days of
approaching summer, but whether evening, or
late afternoon, I started to watch the usual
Star Treks. I would have usually been having
dinner at this time, but I wanted to try and
experiment of having a liquid dinner - 5
different, but rather strong beers.
The first two beers were both rather
soupy looking, and weren't very nice, although
not actually horrible. Both were quite similar
in some ways - both fairly strong, both rather
tart, and both very cloudy.
The next three beers were even
stronger. The beer on the left, the Vocation
"Mint Chocolate Stout" was 13%. I think the
other two were in the region of 9%. The Bon
Secours was a Xmas drink, and not very nice.
The Delerium Christmas was obviously a Xmas
beer, and was fairly pleasant. The Mint
Chocolate stout was very delicious, but it was
also very syrupy. I am sure it was not good
for my blood glucose level, and it is possible
the Delirium was also bad.
I was obviously drunk at the end of
this self indulgence. That would usually make
me feel hungry, or possibly just make me feel
that eating would be a great idea, but oddly
enough, not last night. The whole thing was an
experiment to see if I could substitute liquid
for dinner. I did once come home from a gig,
and go straight to bed with no supper, and it
seemed easy to do once I put my mind to it. It
was the same last night - I seemed to have no
desire to eat. In a modified form this could
be a habit worth getting in to.
I was starting to yawn a lot, but I
kept myself awake to watch Have I Got News For
You. I probably shouldn't have bothered
because it was a compilation of the best of
2018, and it seemed like I had seen most of it
recently. It finished at 10pm and I went
straight to bed with a book. I barely managed
to read a single page before putting the book
down, and turning out the light. I think I was
fast asleep by 10.30pm.
One great annoyance last night was that
I woke up thinking I had been sleeping for
hours. When I looked that the clock it was
11.30pm, and I hadn't even managed to sleep
through to the next day. Fortunately it didn't
take long to get back to sleep again. One
oddity last night is that I woke up a few
times thinking that I probably needed a pee,
but I only did a trickle. It seems it wasn't
until 2 or 4am when all that beer made
it through my system, and each visit to the
toilet was really needed after that.
The only thing I can say about my
dreams was that they seemed to be happy, or at
least non threatening dreams, but I can't even
seem to remember what any of them were about,
let alone what was happening.....except for
one very brief bit of dream that makes little
sense without further context, and yet is
still slightly amusing. In the dream I was
sitting on a tube train next to a "young lady"
who I assume I knew. At one stop a bunch of
"lads" got on the train, and one tried to fit
himself in between me and the woman. She
complained, and he turned round to look at me
with a sinister scowl on his face. Somehow I
made an even more sinister scowl, and he ran
away. Half a paragraph to describe about 3
seconds of dream !
To my surprise I did pass a small
"stool" after getting up this morning. After
washing my hands I then checked my blood
glucose. I wasn't surprised that it was up to
9.2mmol/l. It is lucky I hadn't eaten a dinner
as well as drunk all those beers. That could
have pushed the reading up into the danger
area. 9.2mmol/l is really in no man's land -
it is neither safe or dangerous. This morning
I wanted some solid food inside me, and had a
bowl of instant noodles. I might possible skip
dinner, or maybe try and find something very
light. Tonight's dinner will probably be
cheese salad, and that should be safe.
Once again I have to try and think what
I am doing today. One (hopefully) short bit of
time will be taken up with the delivery of the
beers I ordered on Sunday morning. DHL have
predicted they will deliver the beers between
13:46 and 14:46. Once the beer is here I am
free to do anything I like. Before the
delivery time I didn't want to be too
distracted in case the delivery is early -
which if it is the same driver as last time it
could be here an hour earlier ! He is a very
fast worker.
