The latest revision
to the forecasst has put the first sunny
spells back to 10am. At the moment it is
fairly bright outside, but there is no bright
spot among the clouds that can cast a shadow.
With luck the sun will break though as
forecast, and from 11am through to sunset, we
will get non stop sunshine. That should raise
the air temperature to 19° C (or 18° C on the
BBC channel). Tomorrow may be even warmer.
Much of tomorrow may only feature sunny
spells, but there could be some hours with
full sunshine, and the temperature may reach
21° C. (The BBC say only 20° C, but perversely
that think most of the day will feature pure
sunshine).
Very little happened yesterday. I just
couldn't find the inspiration to go out during
the day, and even less inspiration to go to a
gig in the evening. I guess I have little to
say about yesterday, and that is sort of good
because I spent almost the entire morning
describing my day before yesterday.
Nevertheless, there are a few things to
describe.
AS I said, I didn't finish writing
until almost midday yesterday, and that
definitely influenced the rest of my day. For
one thing it felt so late in the day that I
couldn't be bothered to wash or put on clean
clothes. That was a problem that fed on itself
- it was both the outcome and the cause. Had I
washed I might have been more inclined to try
and go out - maybe even for just a short walk,
but I just didn't feel like it.
During the afternoon I passed much of
the time reading both from a book and online.
It was handy to catch up with many news items
from
https://www.theregister.com/
. I had so many tabs open in my web browser
with a news story to read in each that it was
gumming up my system. I must admit it was
handy to have the time to read through almost
all, but of course while I was reading new
stories were being added all the time.
One thing I didn't do, which rather
surprised me, was to eat much during the day.
I had had two small bowls of instant noodles
for breakfast, which was a too frequent
luxury. My lunch, if I remember correctly, was
just 4 Marmite flavour rice cakes with cheese
on them. I was planning on having a salad for
dinner, but I seemed to be too busy doing
nothing to prepare it.
I could have gritted my teeth, and
tried to not have any dinner, but I didn't
feel I could manage that last night. Spurred
on by a voucher code for £10 off from Just Eat
I decided to splash out on a takeaway. This
time I settled on a (hopefully) safe shish
kebab. I thought that maybe it would be safe
enough to order two "regular" shish kebabs -
one chicken and the other lamb. At the last
minute I ordered some peri peri flavour
(allegedly) grilled wings. That last second
distraction made me forget to use the £10
voucher, but fortunately the "regular" sized
kebabs were not excessively expensive.
When they arrived I found out why they
were less expensive than some I have ordered
in the past. It was because they were rather
small, at least the meat content was very
small, but they still had heaps of unusually
nice tasting salad with them. After eating the
two kebabs I felt I had ample room to eat the
grilled wings too. I was originally thinking I
might save them as a snack for maybe today.
All three combined parts did seem to be
satisfying enough.
Being a weekday night, I was able to
watch my usual three Star Treks, but there was
no entertainment on Dave later. Happily I
noticed that BBC1 were showing a fully up to
day
Have I Got News For You at 9pm. It
was both interesting, and sometime baffling,
to hear about news of stuff I had never heard
of before, but assorted drama in our shameful
ruling government party didn't, in itself,
surprise me.
HIGNIFY (as it is usually abbreviated
to) finished at 9.30pm, and not long after
that I was in bed reading. I didn't read for
long because I was feeling quite tired - it
evidently takes a lot of energy to do nothing
all day ! I doubt it was much later than 10pm
before I was fast asleep. I did seem to sleep
well last night, and while it is a bit of a
guess, it seems I might have slept in 3 hour
chunks through the night, rather than 2 hours
at a time as has become normal for quite a
time now.
I remember a vague précis of what
seemed like a long dream in the later hours of
this morning. It was set in a house with a few
familar features, but was basically unlike my
home. For one thing it seemed to have stone
floors. Maybe I had just bought it or
something because there was a sort of feeling
of owning it. It was being renovated/decorated
by some builders, and one builder had been
fiddling around with the water tank in the
attic.
The core of the part remembered part of
the dream was water cascading down from
improbable places where the water tank was
over flowing. Water was lightly poring from
one point in the ceiling in a downstairs room,
and yet it was dry above that spot in the room
above. One builder was sitting on the floor,
rolling a cigarette while a cascade of water
poured down to the room behind him. He just
shrugged his shoulders when I pointed out he
was soon going to get a wet arse.
None of the builders, including the one
I thought caused the problem seemed concerned
about it, and I realised I would have to fix
it myself. Fortunately there was still a
ladder in place to go up through the loft
hatch. I think it was as I was looking up, and
ready to put my first foot on the ladder that
I woke up. It was a sort of relief to see that
my house was still dry and intact.
I had woken up because I needed to pee,
although like the last few days, there was no
real urgency about it. It was at about 5am,
and it seemed a good time to turn the heater
on low before I got back into bed. I think I
woke up soon after 6am, opened my eyes, and
then decided to close them again for maybe
just 5 minutes more sleep. The next thing I
knew was that it was just after 7am.
I did get up then. After another visit
to the toilet, more from habit than need, I
took my morning pills, and then checked my
blood glucose. While shash kebabs are usually
kind to my blood glucose readings, there have
been times when I have had unpleasant
surprises. They were possibly because of other
stuff I had eaten besides the kebabs. There
was no worries about it this morning. My
reading was 7.9mmol/l. This morning was the
first reading I have had under 8.0mmol/l this
month. I was very pleased about it, and it
made the extra expense of a takeaway almost
feel justified.
I feel I shouldn't waste another sunny
day, but I don't seem to feel excited about
going out at all. The good thing is that I am
coming to the end of my writing, and it isn't
even 9.30am yet. Maybe I can build up to
something like a walk or train ride in the
next hour or two. Either that or I could do
some well overdue gardening, and I have plenty
of little tidying up jobs I should do. There
is no reason to be bored today, but then
again there has been no good reason to be
bored multiple times just this year, but still
I was bored.
