The weather forecast for yesterday
made pretty grim reading - rain, rain, and
more rain, albeit only shown as light rain.
It did indeed rain, but it mostly seemed to
be no more than occasional falls of drizzle.
Indoors I was not aware of the rain except
when I noticed the road outside was looking
damp a few times. It was another sub normal,
rather cool day with the temperature only
reaching around 18° C during the early
evening. Most of the afternoon was no better
than 16° C.
The garden looked quite wet
this morning, and there must have been
rain in the early hours. It is now bright
and sunny. The latest revision to the
forecast has changed a few hours of sun to
just sunny spells, but in return it now
shows sunny spells extending to 7pm. The
temperature should reach 23° C. By 4pm,
but right now it feels quite cool at
around 14° C. Tomorrow, for one day only,
should see a proper return to summer.
Mostly pure sunshine, and some sunny
spells, should last all day, and the
temperature should reach a pleasantly warm
26° C.
Yesterday was quite satisfying in a
couple of limited ways. On the other hand,
a lot of yesterday was quite tedious. I
did almost nothing in the morning apart
from writing this blog. After I finished
that I found I had run out of enthusiasm,
energy, concentration, or something
similar that I am not sure how to
describe.
As noted yesterday, I started the
day with a horrendously high blood glucose
level. I theorised that it was mostly due
to dehydration, although there was stuff i
had eaten the day before yesterday which
would definitely not have helped. one
thing I did do diligently during the
morning was to drink more than usual. I
was only drinking fizzy, sugar free
drinks, and so I could not gulp down large
amounts like I could have if I was
drinking chilled water.
I am happy to say it worked, and
just before midday I checked my blood
glucose reading (just using the new meter)
and it said a very ordinary, and
unremarkable 8.8mmol/l. That was my cue
for some lunch, and it was a fairly big,
but relatively safe lunch of a large
portion of instant noodles. I felt much
better for that, and after an attempted
short snooze (I think it felt too chilly
to relax enough for a snooze) I felt ready
to start work.
That work was generally photo
editing. By mid evening I finally came to
the end of all the pictures I had taken at
Petts Wood Calling - except for two lots.
I regard it as low priority, but I still
have a pile of pictures of the metal band
Ransom that should have enough passable
pictures to make a second photo album. I
also have the pictures I took at The
Daylight in after a Guinness bribe from
the landlady. I did check and edit one
picture to see how it looks. It was of all
the bar staff lined up behind the bar.
They look OK, but there is quite a bit of
curving on the outside edges, despite
heavy cropping, from the use of my only
wide angle lens I had at the time - the
fisheye lens.
One thing I wanted to do, and it
seems I was very successful, was to eat a
very low sugar dinner. I started with four
rice cakes with mayo, mustard, salad
leaves, and ham on them. They were tasty
enough to make me want more. I felt semi
confident enough to chance another 4 rice
cakes with cheese instead of ham on them.
They too went down nicely and did leave me
feel not exactly full, but satisfied.
The last pictures I worked on were
of the band Fat Salad. They were the last
band I saw, and i took the pictures when
feeling tired, and also in some
discomfort. It seems I took more picture
than I realised. i think I was on
something like autopilot when I took them
so there were no great shots, but quite a
few were quite acceptable.
The very young looking singer
reminded me of someone like Roger Daltrey,
or maybe even a young Ian Gillan.
I wanted to do more shots like
this, but oddly I only seemed to do it
when feeling tired. Odd !
One problem at Petts Wood Calling
this year was very little front of stage
lighting. i heard someone complaining that
it was difficult to get good pictures, or
even views with his eyes, of Glamstar who
were the headliners, and mostly played
after sunset. The crazy thing is that it
made taking pictures of Fat Salad's
drummer easier because there was so much
light towards the back of the stage. Very
often it is hard to get a good picture of
drummers.
One oddity is that I have no
recollection of how Fat Salad sounded. I
think their style was basic rock, but I
don't know if they did just covers, their
own songs, or a mix of both. I guess I can
say I would like to see them again if only
to see what I was missing first time. I
guess they hope to appeal to teenage
girls. The last thing I saw as I headed
for the exit was that most of them had
taken their shirts off !
I did the full usual compliment of
TV last night, usually working, or making
dinner, between commercial breaks. The
last thing I watched was QI. That finished
at 10pm, and I went straight to bed where
I read the last couple of pages of a book.
As far as I can recall, I fell asleep
within minutes of turning out the light -
maybe at about 10.30pm. There is not
a lot to say about my sleep. I can almost
recall having some dreams, but I can't
remember anything about them, and on the
whole my sleep was unremarkable.
I was quite keen to check my blood
glucose level this morning. I was
desperately hoping that my eating choices
had worked OK - and they
HAD !
Both of my blood glucose meters had an
identical reading of a marvellous
7.7mmol/l. I wish I could do that more
often, and of course I could if I ate the
same as yesterday. The large helping of
instant noodles were very nice, and the
ham and the cheese on rice cakes were very
nice, but I like variety, and eating the
same thing day after day would be boring -
plus I have sausages and ice cream in the
freezer that have to be eaten one day.
I hope that by the end of the day I
will have finished the pictures of The
Daylight Inn, and sent them to Eileen the
landlady, but top of my priorities is to
go to The Jolly Farmers for a lunchtime
Guinness or three. I believe that Angela
should be back at work by now. I'll let
her know that I'll be in there, but I
somehow doubt I will even get a reply.
