Yesterday was forecast to be a
terrible day, but most of it wasn't too bad.
There was even a bit of sunshine, albeit as
mostly short, rather hazy, sunny spells.
There was some rain in the morning, but far
less than forecast. It seems like the
heaviest rain fell late at night when only
light rain was forecast. The temperature may
have slightly exceeded the 22° C. At
times it felt a bit sticky, but when there
was any wind it felt rather cool and fresh.
Several hours have passed since
taking the screenshot of the weather
forecast above. In those hours the
forecast has been revised at least twice,
and now it says the first sunny spells my
not start until 2pm, and full sunshine
from 3pm. The temperature should still
peak at 24° C for a couple of hours.
Tomorrow should included many random hours
of either sunny spells or sunshine, and a
few hours of just white cloud. The
temperature should be similar to today
with 24° C predicted.
My intention was to raise my levels
of idleness, and general laziness, to new
heights yesterday, but I have to confess I
failed - at least in the morning. I think
I probably said that there was one thing I
had to do, and that was to finish some
laundry I had started almost two days
earlier (actually more like 30 hours
earlier).
It wasn't a huge load of stuff to
wash, and the biggest was a hand towel.
The rest was underwear. Once I had
finished it, and had it hanging up to dry
I could relax. I did two more things. One
was to do a small backlog of washing up.
There was just one major item to wash, and
it was the heavy ceramic pot from my slow
cooker. Not only is it heavy, but my sink
is less than double the size of it, and
washing it is a bit tricky.
Once that ceramic pot, plus some
cutlery and a couple of small bowls were
washed, I used the ceramic pot to start
cooking my dinner in - slowly ! It was
diced chicken breast with a whole (small)
head of cauliflower plus some spices and
stuff. I was going to say that once all
the ingredients were in the pot I could
leave it to itself until dinner time, but
I didn't want to liquefy the cauliflower
so that went in about an hour before
dinner time, and over half an hour before
dinner time I turned the heat completely
off so I didn't have to try and eat
boiling hot dinner.
The final thing I did before I
lapsed into complete laziness, was to
change the sheet on my bed, plus the hand
towel I put on the pillows to help mop up
night time sweat, but far more often
because I somehow like the feel of rest my
head on a towel. After that I could relax,
but I didn't manage to be completely idle,
and i didn't manage more than one medium
length snooze. I spent quite a lot of time
on my PC catching up with technology news
from
https://www.theregister.com/,
and other places.
At 5pm the first of the three Star
Treks started. I seemed to watch the first
one, an episode from "the original series"
without paying it much attention. The
middle episode, an episode from Deep Space
Nine, I paid some attention to because i
could not remember the story, but it did
seem very familiar as the story unfolded.
The third Star Trek, Voyager, has always
not generated much interest, although
contrariwise, last nights was moderately
interesting.
During Deep Space Nine (6 to 7pm) I
ate my chicken casserole, and it was nice,
but not wonderful. I was tempted to have a
low sugar/calorie ice cream dessert after
it, but I decided not to. After Star Trek:
Voyager I turned to the "Horror Extra"
channel to watch an episode of
UFO.
It was a TV series that I liked a lot on
it's first showing, but maybe it hasn't
aged well, or it is just too familiar. I
generally enjoyed it, but I think it would
take second place to something more
interesting.
I could have gone straight to bed
after UFO, but I felt the need to take a
couple of Paracetamol tablets, and give
them an hour to work before I tried for
sleep. I was not really in pain, but I
could feel some dull aches from a few
typical places, and I knew they would
annoy me once I turned the light out and
tried to relax. There was also the problem
of another sticky night. The temperature in
my bedroom was fairly high, but it was a
lot cooler outside (and it was raining
quite heavily). I decided to keep the
window closed, and suffer the
consequences. Fortunately it was not
nearly as hot and sticky as the night
before.
I think it was not too long after
10pm that I turned out the light, but it
might have been another half hour before I
got to sleep. Once asleep I seemed to
sleep OK until about 1.30am. I got up for
a pee, and noticed the first signs of what
is probably an inner ear problem. I can't
describe it as giddiness, but at that
point it was a very mild loss of balance.
Two hours later I woke for another pee,
and this time my loss of balance was more
severe, and walking to the toilet and back
was (interesting).
That loss of balance was worrying
because it would seem to put my intentions
for today, going to Chislehurst Rocks, in
jeopardy. it was some relief to find it
had all but gone away when I woke up at
5am, and gone completely when I got up at
6.30am. I did have some dreams through the
night, or maybe it was just one dream
repeated, or even just a very short dream.
I know the dream was about taking
pictures, but all I can remember is just
one single still image for a foot resting
on a motorbike foot rest. I have a funny
feeling I had taken the picture of a
picture in a book, but with just that one
single image remembered from whatever I
dreamed, I can't say any more about it.
My blood glucose readings were
slightly up this morning, and I think the
only "naughty" thing I did was to eat half
a packet of micro sized chipsticks. The
new meter read 8.4mmol/l. and the old
meter read 8.8mmol/l. Both readings were
unremarkable, and as I now realise, after
checking them again, are actually a little
bit lower than yesterday morning. So
that's good.
As I mentioned a bit further up the
page, my target for today is to go to
Chislehurst Rocks. I don't fancy spending
a long time there, and while the earlier
bands on might have some merit, my aim is
to get to the stage in time for Hell On
Tap's set at 4pm.The next band on at 5pm,
The Heat, are said to be good.
Unfortunately the next band on at 6pm are
called Studio 33, and are reported to be a
disco band. That would be my home time,
and it still might be, but I really want
to hang on until 7pm when MT Pockets take
to the. They are usually great crowd
pleasers. If I see some or all of their
set, I will definitely aim to be out of
aural contact with the event when the
headline band comes on - Dread Centre. I
know many of the band members, and they
are all good guys, but I really hate that
bass heavy reggae music they play.
