The forecast for yesterday was 100% wrong when it came to the morning sunshine/sunny spells. There were none, and the whole day was rather grey. I'm not even sure if the day was 100%. For some reason I think there may have been at least one brief shower. At least they got the temperature about right - the afternoon was 9° C.

                                    day
Both forecasters agree that today will be dry (although it looks grey and damp outside as I write this), and there will be complete cloud cover all day long. The BBC say white cloud, and the Met Office say grey cloud, and it is very grey cloud I cans see as I write this. This morning was very mild, almost 10° C, but it will only rise to 11° C, and stay that way for most of the day. Tomorrow may see some sunny spells in the morning, although the BBC forecast is more generous and says they may last all day. it should stay dry, and the temperature should reach 10° C.

Yesterday was one of those days where it seemed not a lot happened, but it was not a complete lazy day. I had a hangover after the previous afternoon/early evening boozing, and it was the sort that was not really painful, but it did dampen my enthusiasm for most things for a significant amount of the day.

One thing the hangover did not stop me doing was going shopping, but I think I probably moved and thought slower than usual. I went to Tesco where I almost stuck to my principals of buying stuff I know to be healthy, at least in terms of very low sugar content. There was one or two exceptions to that. One probable exception was a ready to eat, pizza flavoured, cheese roll type thing from the makers of Pepperami. It was only a few mouthfuls, and with no blatant amounts of sugar, it was probably moderately safe.

One huge disappointment was that Tesco seem to have run out of Lime flavoured Diet Coke. I only have that as a treat, and the last bottle lasted 3 or 4 weeks. I was going to buy two bottles, but there was none to be had. I did buy a one litre bottle of Smirnoff - reduced to just £18 when bought with a Clubcard. Other almost bargains were two packs of diced beef found on the reduced price shelf, although at just 60p off the full price they were a dubious bargain.

I resisted the temptation to buy any more oven chips. They do seem to cause almost no effect to my blood glucose measurements the next day, but they do seem to increase my weight ! I filled up the small empty space in the freezer with some "hot and spicy" chicken wings. They are probably not too good for me. On the other hand, I also bought some "Southern" flavoured chicken strips, which I had for my lunch with no obvious bad effects.

Apart from some hangover induced sluggishness, the walk to and from Tesco was perfectly comfortable, and the fresh air was possibly just above the temperature where it might cause chest aches. It did feel sort of fresh and nice. Some mild dampness in the air gave it a sort of soft feel. However, it was still nice to get home, and back into the warmth. After putting my shopping away I tried the "pizza flavour" cheese roll/bar type thing. It was nice, but not so nice that I would ever buy a full price one, and maybe not even another reduced price one either.

The other thing I did when I got home was to put the frozen "southern flavour" chicken strips in the mini oven to cook. While they cooked I had a go at the crosswords in The Newshopper (provided by Michael) and The Metro (provided my Jodie). I didn't finish any of them, although I managed all but two clues in The Metro quick crossword. Then my chicken strips were cooked, and I put the papers aside while I ate them. I don't think I can say anything positive about them apart for their low sugar content. They were almost tasteless.

There was just one thing I did in the afternoon, apart from reading and being very lazy, and it was to hand wash just three small items. Some of my high daytime blood glucose levels triggered a blood filled boil on my inner thigh to flare up, and when it popped it made a bit of a bloody mess. I put the affected items straight in to soak. They were two pairs of underpants plus a face flannel used to clean myself up. It was a very small hand laundry job, and I dried it on a small clothes horse in my bedroom - the only room where I had heating on yesterday.

Eventually it was time to prepare and cook my dinner - not that it needed much preparation. It was an experimental dinner of sprouts and diced lamb - cooked together in the mini oven. The sprouts were ready prepared and frozen, and the lamb was ready diced. I put the lamb on top of the sprouts, and with nothing else except a light sprinkle of salt, and a bit more white pepper, they were just cooked as they were.

I had timed dinner for 6pm while I was watching Star Trek: Enterprise. It was an experiment that worked well. I enjoyed it. The lamb and sprouts went well together. If there was one problem it was that with nothing else on the plate it seemed to be quite a small dinner. I ended up following it up with rice crackers and cream cheese.

I followed Star Trek: Enterprise with Star Trek: Voyager. I was about to say I could remember very little about Voyager, but it was all about sex - specifically Vulcan sex, and after the extreme prudery of the original Star Trek, it was very slightly racy.....or at least they did actually acknowledge sex as being the root of the problem. It was actually an idea set in the original Star Trek, and it was that Vulcans have a 7 year sex cycle, and when it comes around they go a little bit mad as the seek out a mate. It is better described here https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Pon_farr

I ended up watching a lot of TV last night, and so got to bed a lot later than intended. With hindsight that might have been a good idea. After Voyager I watched Secrets of The London Underground. That was followed by an episode of QI. I went to bed after that, but read in bed until almost 11pm. It was probably at 11pm when I fell asleep. As so often happens, I woke again at about 1am, and it did seem to take a while before I got back to sleep after going for a pee.

On the whole I slept rather well last night. It was possibly at 1am when I found my pillow damp with sweat. That suggested that maybe I was experiencing high blood glucose, but it was probably that I was just too well wrapped up by the duvet. I used the duvet more loosely after that, but then I was starting to feel cold at 4am, and put the heater on full. That made me feel dozy again after starting to feel a lot less drowsy. I ended up turning over when I might have got up at 6am, and slept again until about 7.30am.

I am pretty sure I had a selection of dreams, and one of the dreams may have been a bit sexy, but sadly I can't seem to remember anything about those dreams. So the next thing was to check my morning blood glucose readings. I took extra care to use fresher blood this morning. The first big bead of blood seemed OK for the first two meters, and then I cleaned my finger tip and squeezed out fresh blood for the next meter, and the same again for the fourth meter.

The results I got were still not completely consistent, but they all showed a nice low blood glucose level. The very lowest reading was just 6.3mmol/l on the GlucoRX meter. If that were true it would be magnificent, but the other three meters gave similar enough readings to believe my blood glucose was not as low as that. The Contour meter read 7.7mmol/l. The new Vivachek meter read 7.5mmol/l, and the Sino Care meter read 8.0mmol/l. It was the Contour meter that was roughly the average, and 7.7mmol/l is still very good when my averages of the previous months for the last three years or more, have been in the region of 8.5mmol/l. If it wasn't for the high daytime readings I would claim to be in good control of my blood glucose.

I did have an early idea that I would have liked to have gone out last night. That obviously never happened, and I think I made the right decision. The gig I might have gone two seemed like it was very, very crowded (it is quite a small pub). I don't think there is anything that might tempt me out tonight, and by the look of the very grey clouds, I don't think I can be tempted to go out during the day either....although I may pop out to one of the shops later. Mostly I can imagine having a very lazy day today....although I have got a bit of a backlog of laundry that will need doings sooner or later....
