My Diary/Blog For the Month of December 2023

Sunday 31st December 2023
 07:58 BST

As forecast, although maybe not at the times they were forecast for, there were a few showers yesterday. Much of the day was fairly bright, but I can't recall any actual sunshine. The temperature rose to 12° C by the afternoon, and it stayed up into, and through the night. The one thing I didn't notice was the forecast high winds.
random light showers
Like yesterday, no one can predict when there will be some light showers today, but there will be some - sometime. The first could be at 9am, but the latest revision shows it as light rain, and not heavy rain as shown in the screenshot above  of the early version of the forecast. Today's high may be just 9° C. The BBC forecast, that is usually different to the Met Office forecast, shows sunny spells for 1 and 2pm. Tomorrow, the first day of the new year, may feature a few sunny spells in the morning, but from late afternoon it could get very wet. The afternoon temperature could be a chilly 8° C, but the temperature could rise very late in the evening to 10° C. The day after tomorrow could be several degrees warmer, and many degrees wetter !
freshly scrubbed
I am still trying to decide if yesterday was good, or not so good. I don't think I remember anything bad, and so maybe it was averagely good. The highlight of the day was having a good scrub up before going out shopping. I'm still debating whether a full shower, shampoo and conditioner, and a shave was a bit over the top just to go to Poundstretcher. The rest of yesterday is described in my complete archived page for today, and it includes some notes about my night, and this morning.
Saturday 30th December 2023
 08:50 BST

Originally a few sunny spells were forecast for yesterday, but in later revisions the sunny spells were exchanged for showers ! The sun did manage to seep through some gaps in the clouds to give very short spells of thin, watery sunshine. The showers were not so obvious unless you were outside. It was a very cool day with the temperature only reaching 10° C from early morning to late afternoon before starting to fall as the sun went down.
windy
The headline weather feature today is going to be very strong winds this afternoon. The BBC says those strong winds may start from around 7pm, and they could peak at 46mph. The Met Office doesn't predict them to be quite as strong, barely touching 40mph, but does say they could start from early afternoon. they will be responisble for pushing some slightly warmer air our way, and the temperature should rise to 12° C. Today will be rather dull, and there could be a light shower now and then. Tomorrow could also see winds of 30+mph, but it will be a lot cooler with no more than 9° C forecast, and in the wind it could feel a lot cooler than that ! One plus point is the day should be a bit brighter, and there might even be a chance to see a quick glimpse of the sun.

On the whole, yesterday could be described as satisfactory when the good and bad bits are averaged out. Of course the terrible nights sleep I had, which didn't actually include that much sleep, put a dampener on most of the day. There were times when I felt I had relapsed back to how I felt the previous week. The more significant bits of my day, night, and this morning are described in my complete archived page for today.
Friday 29th December 2023
 10:15 BST

There were some sporadic falls of rain yesterday, but on the whole it seemed to be mostly a dry day. The temperature was about 12° C for a lot of the day, but there were some fierce winds that sometimes made it feel almost icy.
maybe some sunny spells
It was obvious there had been some rain early in the morning, but it seems to be dry now, and the sun is doing it's best to shine. The clouds looks thin and streaky, and so short sunny spells, sometimes watery sunshine, do seem possible. On the other hand, if you check the headline description of the day (in the screenshot above) it says "Heavy showers changing to cloudy by lunchtime". The latest revision to the forecast now shows light rain for 11am, heavy rain for midday, and then light rain again for 1pm. That could be followed by sunny spells for 2 and 3pm. With so much inconsistency, and frequent changes, it seems to today is one of those days that cannot be forecast. One thing that is consistent is the temperature. It will peak at 10° C early in the afternoon, and then start to fall to just 7° C. Tomorrow should be mostly dry, and the temperature will be it's highest in the early evening when it should hit 12° C as warmer air is blown in on gale force winds. Those winds will continue into the day after tomorrow.

Off to a very late start this morning for reasons I'll explain further down the page. Much of yesterday was a fairly good day, and indeed there was only one very bad bit, but even that had nothing to do with my late start this morning. The first good thing was that I finally got to Aldi to do some shopping. The whole of my day is dissected, and described, along with the awful night I had, and my extra late morning, in my complete archived page for today.
Thursday 28th December 2023
 09:01 BST

It was always dull yesterday, and it was very damp, although there were plenty of hours without rain. Hovever there did seem to be more rain than forecast. Fortunately most of the rain was light rain. The temperature rose to 12° C, but it still felt quite cool.
rain later
So far it has looked like it might be possible that the sun might make it through the clouds to give a sunny spell or two, but while it is not actually gloomy, it is not that bright outside. The BBC predict the first sunny spells at 10am, and they could last for 3 or 4 hours. Like The Met Office, they agree that it will rain from 4pm for 4 or 5 hours, but The BBC say light rain instead of the Met Office forecast of heavy rain. Both forecasters agree the temperature should reach 12° C late this morning, but will start to fall this afternoon. Tomorrow could be brighter, but a couple of degrees cooler. There might be an isolated shower or two.

I want to say that yesterday was a good day, and in parts it was, but in other parts it was less than great. Not actually terrible, but sort of "meh". At least I was feeling good enough to finally make it to Tesco to top up my dwindling stock of food. Going to Tesco came at a price though. All this is described and argued in greater detail, along with notes about my sleep, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today.
Wednesday 27th December 2023
 09:10 BST

Yesterday was generally bright, but there was almost none of the sunshine forecast. The sun did come out a couple of times in the morning, but mostly there were occasional spells of weak and watery sunshine when the sun could be seen behind thin clouds.  The temperature only rose to about 9° C, but there was little wind to spoil that. Rain started sometime near midnight.
dull, and sometimes wet
The forecast for today has a similar theme from both The BBC and The Met Office - it is going to be a very dull day, and it will rain this afternoon. It is the timing and strength of rain that seem to be unpredictable. The BBC adds some drizzle at 11am, but proper rain starting at 1pm and finishing at 6pm. They say light rain. The Met Office bunch all their rain up to be heavy rain from 2pm until 5pm, with maybe an hour of light rain after that. As well as being very dull, and sometimes wet, the temperature will only rise to 12° C, although at least that is three degrees higher than yesterday. The BBC also adds some strong winds this morning, and for the first half of the afternoon. A perfectly horrible day. Tomorrow will still see 12° C, but it should be brighter, and there should be less rain. There might even be a sunny spell or two.

I made a terrible mistake yesterday. One whose impact will be felt this morning ! Other than that I had a fairly good day. In fact it could be described as a great day because I finally seemed to be feeling well, and able to do, and enjoy what I didn't feel up to previously. It is all described, with a large selection of pictures, along with my night, and some notes about this morning in my complete archived page for today.
Tuesday 26th December 2023
 08:51 BST

There seemed to be less rain than forecast for yesterday. I must admit I was not paying much attention to the outside world, and I can't say I remember any rain during daylight hours. The temperature outside was 13° C, but I was also not really aware of the outside temperature beyond what I could see on my radio-linked outside thermometers.
some sunshine expected today
I can see a lot of blue sky, but also some streaks of clouds as I look outside my window. Both forecasters (BBC and Met Office) predict a start of full sunshine for a couple of hours, and then sunny spells for the rest of daylight hours. In the latest revision to the forecast the Met Office says a couple of hours, 11am and midday, will not feature any sun. The BBC say there will be no break apart from the sun popping behind the occasional cloud for some minutes. For all that sunshine it will be quite cold with a max of just 9° C. Tomorrow sees a return to grey skies and rain - light rain according to The BBC, and some hours of heavy rain according to The Met Office. The temperature will be a bit higher than today 12° C.

Yesterday was a reasonably productive day - maybe only by comparison to most days this month. One thing I completely failed to do was my intended fasting. I felt ridiculously hungry yesterday morning, and even after a single large bowl of instant noodles I still felt hungry for a lot of the day. My day, night, and this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today.
Monday 25th December 2023
 09:35 BST

Looking at what was forecast for yesterday by both the weather forecasters I look at, I hardly recognise either forecast. Yesterday was one of those days which was very bland. Sometimes it was moderately bright, but without any sunshine, and at other times it was very grey without any rain. One thing was that it was quite mild at 13° C, but it was a bit breezy that made it feel a bit cooler.
a fairly miserable sort of day
During the night I am sure I saw my outside thermometers almost reaching 15° C, but right now it is back down to 13° C (a degree higher than the Met Office predicts). At the moment it is grey outside, but the word that keeps popping into my head is that it is sullen. It is unlikely to get better, but it could get worse. The latest update to the Met Office forecast says light rain will start to fall at 1pm, and heavier rain could follow at 7pm (which is an improvement over 5pm as shown in the original forecast). The BBC is a bit more optimistic. They say light rain from 2pm, and then just light rain until 1am tomorrow. Tomorrow could be a much cooler day, just 9° C at best, but the cloud should be white all day. It should stay dry until late evening. On the other hand, The BBC says sunny spells from 9am to 3pm tomorrow, but still only 9° C.

The worst symptoms of whatever disease or plague I was suffering from had all but gone yesterday, but not completely gone. A few bits ached now and then, but probably no worse to how they have ached for what feels like ages. My chest gave me little trouble, but I was being very careful to be kind to it. My day, night, and this morning are described alongside a collection of pictures, in my complete archived page for today.
Sunday 24th December 2023
 09:56 BST

Yesterday it was the BBC weather forecast that came the closest to reality. The Met Office said a dull grey day, and the BBC were very liberal with their predictions of sunny spells. Maybe there were not as many as the BBC predicted, but there were some nice periods of sunshine, particularly during the morning, but some in the afternoon too. I think The BBC got the temperature right too, 11° C (The Met Office predicted 12° C).
mid grey clouds with the chance of a
                            random shower
There was some rain during the night, but I don't think there was any rain at 9 or 10am this morning. Today is likely to be a mid grey day, and there still a 50% chance of some light rain at 2pm. Today could be 13° C all day long ! Meanwhile, over on the other channel, the BBC predict thick dark cloud, but only predict rain, generally as drizzle, this evening. They reckon 14° C today. Tomorrow looks pretty grim. Both forecasters predict copious rain, and a temperature of 13° C.

I seemed to feel a fair bit better yesterday. Nothing much hurt, but there was still that recent wound tenderness feeling that stopped me exploring all my physical limits to see just how well things had progressed. It made me think that the very sweaty period the night before last was probably a fever burning some of the bugs off. In the end my day was slightly more busy than expected, and it is all described in my complete archived page for today, which also includes my sleep, and this morning.
Saturday 23rd December 2023
 09:12 BST

Yesterday was dry, apart from some possible rain in the small hours of the morning, but it was a very dull and miserable day. It was also rather cool with the temperature only reaching 11° C.
dull or not dull
There is a choice of weather today. There is the dull and miserable weather predicted by The Met Office (as above), or there are the sunny spells predicted by The BBC. As I write this the cloud cover is quite thin, and hints of blue are to be seen, and the sun is doing it's best to shine through one of them. It would be nice to think the BBC version of the weather turns out to be right. On the other hand, the BBC only predict 11° C today, while The met Office say 12° C.  Tomorrow might be 13 or 14° C, but it looks like it will be dull all day. The Met Office only predicts a couple of hours of light rain, but the BBC throws in quite a few random hours of drizzle.

There was no doubt about it - I felt lousy yesterday. It was like some heinous alien had turned some sort of SciFi pain amplifier on me. I don't think anything ached that hadn't ached before, but they were all aching at once, and often more intensely than usual. With so little else to write about, a lot of my complete archived page for today is about my aches and pains, but there is other stuff, including about my sleep, with a few lines about dreams, and how I may possibly feel a bit better this morning.
Friday 22nd December 2023
 08:46 BST

The main feature of yesterday's weather was not obvious without switching the forecast to the detailed view. It was wind, and particularly during early afternoon it was channelled down my road, and felt very strong. That was a shame because while it may not have been sunny, it was bright, and 13° C could have felt nice if the air was still.
dull all morning, but maybe brighter in
                            the afternoon
As the early version of the forecast shows (above) there was some light rain at 7am, but it seems to have stopped now, and no more rain is forecast for today. This morning is going to be very dull, but it should brighten up this afternoon. It is probably going to be 11° C until late at night when it will cool by a degree or so. Tomorrow could be a lot like today except it might be completely dry. The temperature will probably be the same as today. The only variant is the BBC weather forecast that predicts sunny spells from 9am to 4pm.

Yesterday was nearly a good day, but I didn't feel very good until I got some beer inside me later in the afternoon. I have a theory about what was the "cream on top" that made an assortment of aches and pains worse. I'll discuss that a bit later. Apart from a bit of a mad dash to get some needed housework done, I was very lazy yesterday morning. For all that, I seems I had a lot to say about my day, night, and this morning in my complete archived page for today.
Thursday 21st December 2023
 08:02 BST

Yesterday started with a few hours of sunny spells, but they petered out around midday, and the afternoon was mildly dull. There was just enough breeze to make the afternoon 10° C feel a bit cooler than it seemed like it should feel.
generally dull day
Today could be one of those days when the weather is in too much flux to forecast accurately. When I first opened the curtains, some time before sunrise, it looked like there could be some sunny spells on the way, but now the sky looks very grey - which agrees with the forecast. The latest revision to the forecast shows light rain for just 10am (The BBC almost agree by saying drizzle instead of light rain). From 11am there may be light cloud - no rain, and no sunshine - although the BBC suggest light rain at midday, and a couple of hours of sunny spells later. The temperature should reach 13° C today. Tomorrow may see a splash of rain in the morning, and maybe a sunny spell in the early afternoon. The temperature tomorrow may be an almost constant 11° C except at the very ends of the day where it will be a few degrees cooler.

Yesterday was a good day, although not quite as good as hoped - a fact only discovered this morning. Of course the morning sunny spells did a lot to make the whole day more cheerful. I did very little yesterday morning except prepare to go out for an afternoon boozing session with Kevin. This time we did not go over the top ! My day is more fully described in my complete archived page for today. It includes my night, dreams and this morning.
Wednesday 20th December 2023
 08:55 BST

Yesterday was horrible ! The morning was very wet, and the rain continued almost to the end of the afternoon, although the last hours were only light rain. It was also a very cool day. The morning started at 12 or 13° C, but it fell to just 6° C by the end of the night.
sunny start
As per the forecast, today has started off with some sunshine. Sadly it may finish at 10am, but it is better than nothing. The rest of the day will be dominated by light coloured cloud, but a few hours may see heavier cloud. There is only a 10% chance of rain, and in all probability today should be a dry day. From 1pm until beyond the end of the day, the temperature will be just 10° C. Tomorrow will be mostly light and medium grey, and  there could be showers in the middle of the day. It could be 12° C.

Yesterday was a bloody miserable day, and it was all the fault of the appalling weather. Of course there were a few good things regardless of the weather, but very few. In fact, to some extent, the morning wasn't too bad, even when I went out in that terrible cold, grey and wet weather. I went out to Tesco, and I say more about that, plus the rest of my day, night, and this morning in my complete archived page for today.
Tuesday 19th December 2023
 09:10 BST

There were some nice sunny spells yesterday morning, despite the Met Office forecast saying there would be none. There were no sunny spells in the afternoon despite The BBC saying there would be. In fact yesterday afternoon was depressingly gloomy, but at least it was dry. The temperature reached 12° C in the afternoon, and actually rose to 13° C during the night.
a very wet start to the day
The temperature even as I write this is still 13° C, but is forecast to fall as low as 6° C by the end of the day. The forecast heavy rain has happened, and will most probably continue to happen, but it seems to be coming in waves. The met Office say it will stop after 1pm, but the BBC say it will be light rain from midday, and that will continue to 3pm. Clear skies for at least half the night will all keep the temperature rising until after sunrise tomorrow, when it should rise to just 10° C. There is some hope of at least one sunny spell tomorrow, but mostly the sky will be completely light grey all day.

Yesterday started off with no internet, and it slowed me right down waiting for my broadband to come up again. That happened around 9am, but it was maybe another 20 minutes before it was completely stable. Even before my broadband was working there were a series of sunny spells that the Met Office said would not happen. Yesterday had a few highlights, and as usual they, along with highlights of the night and this morning, are described in my full archived page for today.
Monday 18th December 2023
 09:52 BST

The correct forecast for yesterday was halfway between the BBC and Met Office forecast. The BBC said loads of sunny spells, and the met Office said no sunny spells at all. There was actually a scattering of sunny spells through the day. When the sun couldn't find a gap between clouds it did look rather grey out. The highest temperature was 10° C.
mostly dull, sometimes duller
The sun almost tried to shine between clouds earlier, and it could manage it again despite whet the forecast says. I can see a few very small bits of blue between the clouds. It should be close to mild today with the temperature already 11° C, and soon rising to 12° C, but it all depends on the wind. It seems to be calm at the moment, but I haven't been outside. Tomorrow should start at 12° C and it might quickly rise to 13° C, but may fall to 6° C by the end of the day. The penalty for the almost warm morning will be rain, and lots of it. It may be dry again by later afternoon.

The big news this morning is that my internet/broadband connection is rather slow, and frequently comes to a complete halt. I am fairly sure it is Vermin Media doing an upgrade/downgrade/adding more government surveillance equipment.

Yesterday was not a great day. It started off with a stomach upset that had me visiting the toilet a lot during the morning. It rather limited what I could do for a time. Oddly enough it ended in a very similar way. Apart from that, it was a fair day, but could have been better. My full archived page for today reveals what happened yesterday, and is uillustrated with a few pictures, plus it includes some notes about my night and this morning.
Sunday 17th December 2023
 08:10 BST

The forecast for yesterday was 100% right, or at least the Met Office version of it was. As the forecast showed, it was grey and miserable all day. The top temperature of 11° C might have had the potential to feel good in bright sunshine, but yesterday it felt miserably cold.
a lighter grey day
There are two versions of today's weather forecast. There is the Met Office version shown above, and then there is the BBC version which shows loads of sunshine or sunny spells through all hours of daylight. Looking at the sky I can see some small breaks in the cloud, which looks ominously grey just 14 minutes after sunrise, and so maybe the sun may break through for a short sunny spell later. Otherwise today could be a slightly less miserable day than yesterday because the cloud is a lighter grey....or may end up that way a bit later. Today's temperature profile looks almost flat - starting at 9° C, and then rising to10° C for the rest of the day.  While the forecasters disagree about today, they seem to agree that tomorrow will mostly feature light grey cloud, but with some darker clouds now and then, and they also agree on light rain for 8pm, and an afternoon temperature of 12° C.

Yesterday was another very quiet day when not a lot happened. Tesco's banking website was working again, and I paid of my Tesco credit card bill. Perhaps that was the most satisfying things yesterday, but I did do a couple more jobs. One was laundry, and the other was washing up and cooking. Apart from added boozing, that is probably how toady will go too. It is more fully described in my full archived page for today, which also covers last night, and this morning.
Saturday 16th December 2023
 08:40 BST

The forecast for yesterday was 100% wrong when it came to the morning sunshine/sunny spells. There were none, and the whole day was rather grey. I'm not even sure if the day was 100%. For some reason I think there may have been at least one brief shower. At least they got the temperature about right - the afternoon was 9° C.
another grey day
Both forecasters agree that today will be dry (although it looks grey and damp outside as I write this), and there will be complete cloud cover all day long. The BBC say white cloud, and the Met Office say grey cloud, and it is very grey cloud I cans see as I write this. This morning was very mild, almost 10° C, but it will only rise to 11° C, and stay that way for most of the day. Tomorrow may see some sunny spells in the morning, although the BBC forecast is more generous and says they may last all day. it should stay dry, and the temperature should reach 10° C.

Yesterday was one of those days where it seemed not a lot happened, but it was not a complete lazy day. I had a hangover after the previous afternoon/early evening boozing, and it was the sort that was not really painful, but it did dampen my enthusiasm for most things for a significant amount of the day. As usual, what I did do during the day, the night, and even so far this morning, is described in my complete archived page for today.
Friday 15th December 2023
 08:21 BST

The forecast for yesterday was revised to say the day would be completely dry, but it should have been revised in the other direction - there was quite a lot of rain, although most of it was no more than light drizzle, but there were one or two short periods of heavier rain. It was a fairly cool day with the temperature only reaching 7° C.
some or more sunshine today
As I write this it is very dull and grey outside. The chance of full sunshine in 35 minutes seems unlikely. The latest revision has changed 9am from full sunshine to sunny spells. That might just be possible, but it feels unlikely. Most of today will probabkly feature white cloud, and it should stay dry - unless you are in BBC land. They say sunshine almost all day - including right now when it looks grey and gruesome outside. At least the Met Office forecast says it will be 9° C this afternoon. The BBC says only 8° C despite all the sunshine they forecast. Tomorrow may see 11 or 12° C, but it will either be a dull or very dull day.

Yesterday was a very good day, or at least ended up that way. I have to admit that the morning was not terribly exciting, and the only significant thing I did before midday was to shave, shampoo and shower. The first bit of mild excitement was when Michael dropped off some bottles of Diet Coke for me. The rest of my day, or what I remember of it, plus my night and this morning, is described in my complete archived page for today.
Thursday 14th December 2023
 09:33 BST

Yesterday was most definitely very grey, but as forecast, there may have only been a shower or tow. It was one of those odd days when the temperature was at it's highest (9° C) during the morning (11am). Then the temperature started to slowly fall to reach 6° C by 11pm.
probably dry today
The forecast has been revised since taking the screenshot above. The day is now shown to be completely grey, and completely dry. I would not be surprised if a later revision added at least one shower at some time during the day, possibly many times ! This morning started at 4° C, but now the temperature is very slowly rising to 7° C by 3pm, and it may stay there until midnight. Tomorrow may see 8° C, and it will be much brighter. The Met Office predict a single hour of sunny spells, and the BBC say full sunshine all day tomorrow. I expect reality may be a sort of average of both.

Yesterday seemed to be dominated by waiting for my Amazon delivery of my fourth blood glucose meter. I didn't do much while waiting, and I didn't do much after it arrived at about 1.30pm. It meant I couldn't go out for my usual Wednesday lunchtime drink. Anything that was notable yesterday, last night, and even this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today.
Wednesday 13th December 2023
 09:05 BST

Yesterday featured some sunny spells in the morning. and many more showers in the afternoon. At the start of the afternoon rain, at midday, the temperature peaked to 12° C. By the end of the day it had only fallen to 9° C.The early afternoon included a couple of quite short, but very heavy downpours that incited a couple of cracks of thunder.
very dull with rain possible
There is a differing opinion about today's weather. The Met Office, who sometimes gets it right, say there will only be rain at 10am today, but the day will be very grey and overcast. The BBC predict light rain and drizzle for all morning, and some of the afternoon. Both agree that the morning will start off at 8° C, and then the temperature will fall to 6° C by midnight. Tomorrow will probably be quite grey, but little rain is shown in the current forecast for tomorrow. One difference to today is that the temperature peak of 8° C will occur late in the afternoon. The morning could start in the region of just 4° C.

I find it very hard to account for all my time yesterday. So little happened that I wasted/enjoyed a lot of the day just quietly reading or snoozing, although I may only have had short snooze, but with so few time markers it is hard to be anything like accurate. However, there were a few notable things, and these, along with how I slept, and some notes about this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today.
Tuesday 12th December 2023
 08:33 BST

It was nice to see some sunshine yesterday. The only let down is that there only seemed to be a few sunny spells in the afternoon, instead of full sunshine until 3pm. The afternoon temperature reached 11° C, but I didn't go out in to to experience it, and see if it felt mild or cooler.
back to rainy days
There was rain during the night because the road looked very wet, but it doesn't seem to be raining now. The sun is not high enough in the sky yet, but it does seem we will get the forecast sunny spells once it has cleared the roofs of nearby houses. Light rain may start at 11am, and the afternoon is forecast to feature heavy rain until 4pm (maybe with a break at 2pm). At midday the temperature may briefly peak at 12° C, but most of the day will be cooler. This evening should be dry. Tomorrow could be cold, 8° C, and very grey, but at the moment only light rain at 10am appears in the current forecast.

I guess one important achievement gave yesterday a rosy feel. In reality it was a slightly disappointing day. Apart from some stuff in the kitchen, washing up, and cooking, I had only one thing to show that I did do something yesterday. The something was getting the iMac back into a usable state. The full report on yesterday, last night, this morning, plus a lot more pictures from Sunday, is all in my complete archived page for today.
Monday 11th December 2023
 09:19 BST

Yesterday was quite a lot like the day before. There was a lot of rain in the morning, but by midday it was starting to stop. Later on in the afternoon it seemed to be dry. During the evening the pavement and road seemed to be drying out. It was a mild day with the temperature reaching 12° C, but once again there was enough breeze to make it feel cooler.
maybe a sunny day
It took an hour or so after sunrise for the sun to make it through some lingering clouds, but the sun is shining as I write this. There is still some thin cloud around, and so the latest revision to the forecast is probably right when it says only sunny spells until 1pm when full sunshine is expected until almost sunset. Today will be a trifle cooler with a maximum of just 11° C in the early afternoon. Tomorrow sees a return to light rain, but is seems possible there could be some sunny spells between showers in the afternoon. The temperature will probably be about the same as today, 11° C.

Yesterday did not get off to a great start. Everything was fine at first. I washed my hair, and had a shower, and seemed ready to go out. It was sort of typical these days that I realised I needed an extra poo before going out. That delayed me enough to make me miss the bus I intended to get. What happened next, and the rest of my day, night, and this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today.

After a lot of morning rain, yesterday afternoon was almost pleasant with some sunny spells, and the temperature rising to 13° C.
very wet end of the morning
The latest revision to the forecast hasn't changed anything to that shown above. It seems we are in for another 4 hour spell of heavy rain. Only the BBC forecast offers any hope, and that only that most of the rain will not be heavy, but it could start an hour earlier at 10am. Both forecasters agree on a maximum temperature of 12° C for a few hours. Tomorrow should be quite sunny, but the temperature may only reach 11° C.

The big event yesterday was a double shopping trip. After that I wasted a lot of time achieving nothing. On the other hand there was the early morning excitement of a beer delivery, but that happened while I was still writing yesterday, and I have already written about it. It would have consequences later. The full account of my day, night, and this morning can be read in my complete archived page for today.

Yesterday morning was nice and sunny, and the afternoon was almost warm ! The last sunshine was just sunny spells, but I think they may have lasted a little bit longer than the forecast cut off time of 2pm. The temperature peaked at 11° C in the early afternoon.
the return of heavy rain
There has been some heavy rain, but it seems much lighter as I write this. In fact I am not sure it is still raining. It might just be a short lull in the rain, but the latest revision to the forecast shows the last of the rain at midday. The 11am and midday rain is just shown as light rain. At midday (and also 1pm) the temperature should reach 13° C, and with the possibility of some sunny spells this afternoon, it could almost feel good...for a few hours. Tomorrow could see a few hours or more of rain in the middle of the day, and it will probably be a bit cooler, just 12° C, which admittedly is only one degree cooler than today.

I seemed to be quite busy yesterday, although I only achieved a few things. It was one of those days where I spent a lot of time waiting for things to happen, although I did do a few very tangible things. Most importantly I finally finished rinsing the bath towel I had started washing a couple of days ago. More about this and other stuff done yesterday, how I slept, and some notes from this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today.

Yesterday saw a return to almost no sunshine (for a few minutes I did see a very bright bit of cloud where the sun was trying to shine through, but it ultimately failed), and a return to a lot of rain. There was some heavy rain in the morning, but not much, although there was also a lot of fine drizzle. The afternoon saw more rain from about 3pm. It was very slightly warmer with the temperature reaching, and staying at 7° C for 90% or more of the day.
some sunshine today
There should be sunshine as I write this, and there almost is now the sun is high enough above the nearby houses, but it looks as if one, possibly small, cloud is part blocking the sun. Most of the sky looks clear so sunshine lasting as late as 2pm in the latest revision, should be possible. The rest of the afternoon could be dull, but the temperature will be an almos warm feeling 11° C (unless there is enough breeze to cause some wind chill). Some warm and very wet air is heading our way, and so tomorrow morning could see some heavy rain, but the sun might break through, albeit as probably sunny spells for the last hours of daylight. The temperature could rise to 13° C - which would be great if it wasn't pouring with rain.

I think yesterday went quite smoothly. It was a shame about the rain because it detracted from how good a few extra degrees could feel. Even so, 7° C, compared to 5° C the day before, did seem to make it easier to heat a few bits of my house. The dining room, for instance, was nice and toasty for the Thursday beer tasting session. The most notable bits of my day, night, and this morning, are described in my complete archived page for today.

It was nice to see some sunshine yesterday, and I think it extended into the afternoon further than forecast, but it was still a very chilly day. The temperature only hit 6° C very late in the evening, and most of the day was just 5° C.
back to grey skies and rain in the
                            afternoon
The latest revision to the forecast has suddenly added heavy rain for 9am. It is certainly very wet outside, probably from recent rain, but doesn't seem to be raining again quite yet. Rain will now resume at 3pm, and at 5am it will turn heavy for a few hours before stopping. The chances of these time being correct is slim, but the forecast for just 7° C today is probably correct.  Tomorrow may see some sunshine or sunny spells, and the temperature could reach a pleasant (by comparison) 11° C.

Yesterday was not a good day. In fact at times it was very bad, but it did have it's good moments. It felt nice to do the complete shave, shampoo, and shower in the morning, and I felt all nice and fresh to go out, but that was when the trouble started. I think, or I hope, it was the cold air that got to me. This is further discussed/explained along with the rest of my day, night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today.

 08:19 BST

There was and wasn't a lot of rain yesterday. Around midday when rain was forecast, it was dry. The afternoon was forecast to be dry, involved a lot of drizzle. The temperature peaked at 6° C, but it was an extremely wide peak covering much of the day. There was not a hint of sunshine.
very cold but sunny
The forecast has got off to a good start. The sun is still too low in the sky to see it, but the clear sky is obvious, and the eastern horizon is nice and bright. The latest revision to the forecast has produced one change for the better - 3pm is now shown with sunny spells. The maximum temperature still stands at a shivery 5° C. One other change I just noticed is that the rain is now shown to start at 11pm. Tomorrow it's back to grey skies, and rain, but the temperature may rise to 8° C.

Yesterday seemed to be a nice day, although maybe only in one respect. I was feeling a lot better. It was as if I did have some sort of cold or other malady. I still had the occasional twinge, but on the whole I was close to pain free a lot of the time. I should have been able to do more, but maybe just feeling less pains was a reward itself. My day, night, and this morning, is all described, or the notable bits are, in my complete archived page for today.
Tuesday 5th December 2023
 08:46 BST

The temperature stayed between 6 and 7° C yesterday, and while it wasn't frosty, it still felt very cold. There seemed to be light rain or drizzle for most of the day, and there was not a single hint that the sun was still alive up there beyond the thick clouds.
wet start, but maybe dry afternoon
It looks wet outside again, but I am not sure if it is actually raining as I write this. It could be just fine drizzle. 10 and 11am are now shows as heavy rain in the latest revision, but it may be some recompense that the rain may now stop at midday. It may even slightly lighten up - just as the sun is setting - but it will be another day with not a single ray of sunshine. The temperature is almost going to be a flat line at 6° C, but will probably fall a degree in the late evening. Tomorrow may feature a few sunny spells, and stay dry, but it will be a bit cooler at just 5° C.

Yesterday could be described as a pretty terrible day. I felt ill nearly all day, and I have a feeling it might have been a real illness rather than cold and damp giving me assorted aches and pains. It felt a lot like a mild 'flu, but without things like fevers, and other symptoms, although having said that, my temperature was a bit higher than usual, but still a full degree less than where a traditional fever starts. I describe my day, night, and this morning, or at least the bits I remember, or worth noting, in my complete archived page for today.
Monday 4th December 2023
 08:37 BST

Yesterday was a warm day if you believe that 8° C could ever be described as warm, although it was definitely warmer than the previous couple of day. It was a dry day until very late evening, but it was a very grey day. Not a ray of sunshine was forecast, and I don't think I could even imagine seeing any sunshine yesterday.
more rain
It looks wet outside after last night's rain, and that wetness will get topped up by more rain today. The most obvious change in the latest revision of the forecast, compared to the early version seen above, is that 4 and 5pm have changed to light rain and drizzle instead of grey and then mist. The temperature today is going to be a very flat - just 6° C at the ends, and 7° C for the middle. Tomorrow brings no hope of joy - more rain in the morning, and grey skies afterwards. Once again the maximum temperature will be just 7° C, and that for maybe only a few hours.

Yesterday featured one triumph, and it turned out to be a triumph I should have experienced months ago. More about that later. One feature of yesterday was that I felt lousy. All my measurable health indicators said I was quite healthy, but I sometimes felt terrible. I guess it was low barometric pressure making bits ache. Despite all that it seems I had a moderately busy day. It, and my night, plus this morning, is described in my complete archived page for today.
Sunday 3rd December 2023
 07:34 BST

It was as cold as forecast yesterday. The forecast said a maximum of 2° C, but I saw over 3, almost 4° C on my thermometers. Other bits where the forecast was wrong was the absence of mist, and I can't seem to recall much in the way of afternoon sunshine.
cold and grey
There has already been a significant change to the forecast. Light rain is now shown for 10am, and 11am is now shown as heavy rain. It may still dry to 8pm when more heavy rain is forecast. Today should be less cold than the last couple of today's, and 8° C in the afternoon is the best we can hope for. It seems there may be no hope for even a glimpse of the sun today....oh well, it could be worse, like in the BBC forecast that shows light rain or drizzle for every hour of the day ! Both forecasters show tomorrow as being a very wet day, and a maximum temperature of 6 or 7° C.

Yesterday was a more productive day than I imagined, and it had a few minor triumphs, plus one sad failure. Yesterday I said it seemed unlikely I would go out into the freezing air to anywhere, and maybe not even to put stuff in the wheelie bins outside my front door, but I did ! Not to put stuff in the wheelie bins, but to go shopping. As usual, my day, night, and this morning, is more fully described in my complete archive page for today.
Saturday 2nd December 2023
 08:43 BST

It was very, very cold yesterday. The temperature peaked at about 3° C ! Most of the day was either light or dark grey, but there was a brief show of sunshine at about 1pm. At midday it snowed - although one flake closer then 3 or 4 ft of me, and only once every 3 or 4 seconds, was the best it could manage.
very very cold today
While yesterday was very cold, today will be very very cold ! There has been no sign of the forecast mist, but the latest revision to the forecast says the mist will now only appear at 11am. After that the sun may break through for a few hours, and at 3pm, with full sunshine pouring down, the temperature will reach it's highest point of the day at 2° C !!!! More of the day will be just 0° C. Tomorrow the temperature should reach the glorious heights of 7° C, but it will be a wet and rainy day. The BBC predicts it could be a very, very wet day !

Yesterday was a mostly unpleasant day. The reason was the extreme cold (and today is going to be worse). The highlight of the day was a shopping trip to Aldi, but breathing in the icy air had it's consequences. I can even be accused of not wrapping up warm. I had my very warmest, hooded winter coat on, and was sweating by the time I had carried my heavy shopping home. The story of my day, night, and this morning continues in my full archive page for today.
Friday 1st December 2023
 08:28 BST

Yesterday was a very cold day with a couple of very nice sunny spells. The maximum temperature was 5° C, but the ends of the day were 0° C in the morning, and 1° C near midnight.
very cold today
There was another deep frost this morning after the temperature fell to minus figures in the small hours of this morning.  The latest revision to the forecast shows the a chance of some precipitation, and at 11am and midday, it could fall as light snow !  1pm could feature drizzle. The BBC say it will be completely dry with sunny spells, but a look out the window at the horrid grey sky suggests otherwise. Both forecasters say the temperature will only rise to 3° C today. Tomorrow could be even colder with just 2° C for a few hours. The day may start at -1° C, and end at 0° C, but the afternoon may feature a couple of sunny hours.

Yesterday was generally pleasant, but I couldn't raise the enthusiasm to do anything, or to go out. I seemed to spend my time burning up the kilowatts of electricity keeping warm - something I will doing today and even more so, tomorrow ! One little thing I did was to do some washing up, and prepare my dinner ready for the evening. There were a few other things I did, and all are described in my complete archived page for today. As usual it includes some stuff about my night, and the start of this morning.
