Yesterday was dull, but
still modestly warm. The
threatened heavy rain, and
possibly thunderstorms, was a bit
of a damp squib. There was some
rain several hours later than
forecast, but it didn't seem to be
very heavy, although it was dark,
and I might have been mistaken.
The late afternoon temperature
reached the predicted 16° C.
This morning is not only
very dull, but at about 9° C, as
I write this, it is also rather
cold feeling. The latest
revision has added a few showers
- one maybe at midday, and two
more at 5 and 6pm (the sunny
spell shown for 5pm, in the
screenshot above, has now been
replaced by rain in the latest
revision). It is going to be
very cold, maybe even cold
feeling day with 11° C now shown
as the very maximum today.
Tomorrow could start with sunny
spells, but it is expected to
cloud over at midday, and by 3pm
the clouds could darken, and
mostly light rain start. On the
plus side, it might reach 13° C.
I didn't feel very
bright yesterday, and in
consequence I didn't achieve
much. It seemed amazing that I
managed to finish hand washing
the single hand towel, and one
face flannel, that I had left in
soak the previous day. In my
state of mind at the time it
didn't feel like a great
victory.
I don't think I did
anything constructive for the
rest of the day. I seemed to
spend half of it laying on my
bed reading and snoozing,
although I didn't seem to get
the long snooze or two I thought
I deserved. Most snoozes, if
indeed there enough to refer to
them in the plural, may not have
lasted much longer than 5
minutes. The other half of my
time was spent on my PC reading
news, and doing some pointless
research.....although I should
be thinking that any research is
good even if it does no more
than add to the sum of personal
knowledge.
One thing I did too much
of was eating. It was only too
much with reference to my
original idea of trying to fast
until dinnertime, and then have
a nice dinner. It could be said
that I had neither lunch nor
dinner, but a lot of snacks. In
this case "lots" may only be
three. All were based on about a
dozen rice crackers
(theoretically almost zero
sugar) with first blue cheese
spread, then some pork and
garlic pate, and finally with
sliced up, ready to eat, peri
peri chicken burgers. I also had
about a quarter of a biggish bag
of beef and horseradish crisps
as a between snack, snack.
I watched one bit of live
TV last night. It was a repeat
of a repeat , of a repeat of an
episode of Yes Prime Minister.
It may have not been all that
long since I last watched that
episode, but it was still funny,
and the only thing that slightly
perked me up the whole day. I
didn't go to bed as early I
might have have done, and even
after going to bed I read in bed
for maybe 15 to 20 minutes.
I am happy to say that
there is not a lot to say about
my sleep. It seemed I had some
very long periods of very heavy
sleep - just what I wanted. It
was probably around 4am when the
smoothness of it was disturbed
when I woke up for a pee, and
felt cold. Until then I didn't
have the heater on, but I put it
on before I went for my pee. I
managed to fall asleep again
before my bedroom had warmed up,
but it was good to get up to a
warm feeling room - until I
cooled down. As I write this I
am contemplating turning the
heater up full !
There is not much I can
say about my dreams. What
sometimes felt like a very long
dream was almost certainly lots
of small dreams, one after
another, and I don't think there
was many times there was
anything to link them together.
I may not remember the start of
the series. The first I remember
was that I think I was leaving
work with a few people, and the
next thing I was in a pub
sitting at one table reading The
Times, which I had borrowed off
my dad who was sitting with mum,
and (I think) a sister at
another table.
I remember finding the
crossword in The Times (which
incidentally was a broadsheet, I
think it may now be in tabloid
form in real life). The next bit
in the series of dreams was
trying push through a crowd of
"yummy mummies", prams and feral
children in the garden of the
pub. I got through that lot,
stepped over a sleeping dog, and
then checked the change in my
pocket. It was all copper coins,
and all pre-decimal. One coin
was an Irish coin, and I thought
I knew who could spend that, and
walked to the table where he was
sitting, but as I got closer he
had turned into someone else.
I suppose a long series
of dreams, and there was far
more than I have been able to
describe, where I did a lot, but
actually did nothing, could be
tiring, but I seemed to feel
fairly fresh when I woke up, and
got up at around 6,45am. It is
difficult remembering nothing,
but as far as I can remember, I
didn't have any of my usual
aches and pains this morning.
That is sort of surprising on
such a dull and damp day.
Despite not following my
intended diet, my instincts in
going for stuff I had reason to
thing was fairly safe in terms
of it's sugar content, seemed to
work OK. The Contour meter read
8.1mmol/l, and that is slightly
better than ok. The GlucoRX
meter let me down very slightly
with a reading of 8.5mmol/l.
I'll admit that would be good
under the old scheme of things,
but since last months better
readings, it is merely
acceptable now. The big surprise
was that the Sinocare meter gave
one of it's very rare very good
readings. It said 7.8mmol/l, and
that is the sort of area I am
aiming for.
I guess I celebrated (or
gave away) these fair readings
by having two small bowls of
instant noodles for breakfast
this morning. One thing I really
ought to do today is to prepare,
and part cook my dinner,
hopefully a very low sugar
dinner, ready for just 10
minutes in the microwave at
dinnertime. I think I know what
my lunch is going to be, but I
have only just thought of it,
and otherwise might have
considered skipping any lunch. I
still have an opened pack of
pate to eat, and I'll probably
have that with more rice
crackers.
One thing I definitely
want to do before the morning is
over, is to have a shave,
shampoo and shower. There is no
special reason for it except
that I feel a bit grubby after
not washing at all yesterday.
Once I am cleaned and hopefully
fragrant again, I might go out,
but only as far as the local
shops. It is too grey to enjoy
just going out for the sake of
it. I think there are a few
things I could usefully get from
Poundstretcher, but I'll have to
do my best to leave some of the
worst edibles on the shelves -
even if they do look yummy !
