The
BBC forecast (above) and the Met
Office forecast both say there
should be sunny spells right
now, but it seems very dull as I
write this just before 6am. I
can see several shades of grey
when I look up at the sky, and I
can also see some blue, but the
biggest blue patch only looks
big enough to poke my finger
through. If the cloud does break
up then we can look forward to a
nice bright day, and the
temperature hitting 26
° C.
Tomorrow could be even sunnier,
and the temperature might even
hit 30
° C !
Having written
about my day up to just before
yesterday's dinnertime, I only
have to write about last night's
evening, and of course my night.
This morning I have started
writing extra early because I
woke up quite early, and got up
because I have a lot to do
before going to the surgery to
see the nurse.
Yesterday evening's
entertainment was the same as
the evening before - four
episodes of Star Trek being
shown on Sky Mix (on Freeview).
One difference was that last
night's episodes were a bit
better that those the night
before - but maybe only just ! I
had planned that I would eat a
very simple salad dinner while
watching Star Trek at about
5.30pm, but a salad didn't seem
to appeal.
What I actually had for
dinner was two cans of soup,
both fortified with some
croutons, and a sprinkle of hot
pepper sauce. One can was a
Tesco branded cream of mushroom
soup. I can't recall having any
mushroom soup for years, so it
was extra pleasant. It also had
quite a low sugar content, but
not as low as the Tesco cream of
chicken soup. That stuff has a
very low sugar content. Sadly it
didn't show up as that this
morning.
One reason for the soup
was that I hoped it would not
cause any acid indigestion, and
maybe the salad would for some
reason. The theory worked, and
after spending some time in bed
just reading, I turned over to
go to sleep, and didn't suffer
any chest pains. However, I
didn't feel completely
comfortable, and I finally got
to sleep maybe half an hour,
maybe even later then my
intended time of 9pm.
It was warm enough in my
bedroom to kick the duvet aside
for much of the night, but it
was starting to feel a bit cool
for the last few hours of sleep.
Overall, I did seem to sleep
well. I still got up 2 or 3
hours, and went for a pee, but I
didn't seem to pee much. That
suggested a nice low blood
glucose level. I was fooled
again !
I can remember two dreams
from last night. One was simple,
and the other rather chaotic.
The simple on was about being
given, or finding, or just
having a book simply called
"Measurements". It was a sort of
text book with descriptions of
how many things are, or were
measured. There were some nice
drawings of how scientists of
centuries ago measured some
things.
It wasn't all old stuff
though. There was a description
of how some scientists had used
an "armpit laser" to do some
sort of measuring. Unfortunately
there was no description of what
an armpit laser actually was.
There was a hint that the
original use was as a laser to
do something to the armpit. The
mind boggles !
The other dream seemed to
be set in a hybrid workplace of
every place I have worked in.
There were also people from all
periods of my work history, plus
people from a supermarket,
although I can't recall why they
were there. I seemed to be where
I was because I was covering for
staff who were on holiday, or
had gone sick. Other staff were
brought in because the existing
staff were going on a "jolly" in
the afternoon, and I was
invited.
The afternoon out
involved a walk through what
looked like Crystal Palace park
when some of those going live
streamed it. I said I couldn't
go for two reasons. One was that
my angina would limit how far I
could walk, but I did say I
might try it, but first I needed
to shave. I seemed to have lots
of very uneven beard. Part of
the dream was trying to find a
razor, and some shaving cream.
The really weird thing is that
it seemed like I was going to
have that shave, if I found a
razor and shaving cream, at my
bench where there was no running
water.
That seemed like a good
time to wake up, and upon seeing
it was almost 6am, and I had
wanted to be up early, I got up.
Once I had gone for a pee (but
sadly no poo) I weighed myself.
It was something that I was sure
the nurse is going to want me to
do today, and so I took a
picture of the nice clear
digital display on my scales.
Even without a poo it was rather
good - a full 2kg lighter than
the 1st January, and hopefully
3kg lighter than when the nurse
last weighed me. It is not a
lot, but at least it is
something.
I hoped my blood glucose
readings would be impressively
low this morning - they weren't
! The Contour meter read
8.3mmol/l, or 8.2mmol/l on a
second attempt. The GlucoRX
meter had a nice low reading,
but I was still hoping for
lower. it was 7.7mmol/l. Only
the Sinocare meter gave a
reading something like I hoped
for. It was just 7.2mmol/l, but
I was hoping at least one might
be in the sixes.
I seem to be making very
good progress this morning. I
have plenty of time to have a
good shower, and than get
dressed in shorts, t-shirt and a
pair of light, slip on
plimsolls. It hardly seems like
shorts weather as I write this,
but I do note that the clouds do
seem to be breaking up. maybe in
90 minutes, when I walk to the
surgery, I'll be walking in
bright sunshine. Tomorrow I'll
be able to have a good rant, or
not, about this appointment with
the nurse.
