It
is cold and grey as I write
this. However, I can see
some large patches of blue
sky, and so the sunny spells
forecast from 9am look very
possible. By midday they may
be over, but it should
remain dry until maybe 10pm
when light rain is
predicted. The temprature
should slowly rise from this
morning's 5° C to 10° C by
midnight, but the afternoon
may only be 8° C.
Tomorrow may start very wet,
but it could be dry from 8am
to 3pm when more rain will
fall. There might even be a
few sunny spells around
midday. It should be warmer
too with a magnificent 13° C
forecast !
Not a lot happened
yesterday, and that should
make writing this a bit
quicker than recently.
Maybe it was one of those
days when there was little
pressure, or indeed need to
do much, and so being quite
lazy didn't seem boring. As
far as I can remember, the
day passed quite quickly.
After breakfast,
writing, and the traditional
short rest after writing, I
went to the bathroom to give
my new improved patch over
the crack in the bath a good
test. I washed my hair, and
I had a shower. I am happy
to say that I detected no
leaks through the new patch,
and so no damp, or wet
patches under the mats next
to the bath.
Once I had finished
with the bath tub for
washing myself I filled one
of my big builders buckets
with hot water and detergent
to wash a couple of
t-shirts, and over half a
dozen pairs of underpants. I
was content to let them soak
for hours because I wanted
to blow dry my hair, and
then have some lunch.
Lunch was a very unhealthy
portion of oven cooked chips
with grated cheese on them.
I must confess they were
very nice.
Once I had eaten I
laid on my bed, and read
while I started digesting
that lunch. I think I may
have even had a short
snooze, or maybe I didn't. I
can't seem to remember -
maybe because I was asleep
when I had the snooze ! It
was several hours later that
I went back to the washing
that was soaking in
detergent. I had a probably
self fulfilling prophecy
that I wouldn't do all the
rinses and fabric
conditioner in one session -
and I didn't.
With the laundry in
the last rinse water I
stopped work and I had a
snack, although I am unsure
what it was. It may have
just been a handful of
peanuts while I read some
news stories on the internet
(mostly
https://www.theregister.com/).
Having been rather busy
yesterday, and the day
before, I had quite a
backlog of news stories to
consider. I skimmed some and
deleted them because they
just seemed boring, but
other were at least a bit
interesting.
After a break of 30
minutes, or thereabouts, I
went back to the laundry,
and finished it. I hung it
up to dry on the big clothes
horse in the dining room.
There were still plenty of
hours to go before I closed
down downstairs, and so I
started the dry with the fan
heater set on low. From
about 7pm I switched to just
a desk fan to help the
washing dry, and I ran that
overnight. This morning I
think it was all dry, but it
felt cold to the touch, and
so maybe it was still very
slightly damp. I left the
fan on, and will check
later.
I think I have a
better idea of what I had
for dinner - it was a couple
of wholemeal deli roll with
tomato, ham and mustard. It
was quite tasty - sometimes
I forget that simple is
often better than throwing
everything in the kitchen
into a roll ! A short while
later I had my last large
orange. It was nice, but I
think the novelty of eating
oranges has now passed,
although as they sit in the
shop looking big and orange,
it does seem very tempting.
I watched, or semi
watched, three different
Star Trek's last night, The
original series, Deep Space
Nine, and Voyager. None of
them was exactly gripping,
and I often found my mind
(and eyes) wandering. One
interesting bit of news I
saw during that time was
that The Granite Band
thanked me for my "brilliant
pictures". It makes it all
seem worthwhile to have my
ego tickled like that.
Later on I watched
QI, and also the first few
minutes of Have I Got News
For You. The latter
definitely didn't grab my
attention, and I turned the
TV off after those first
couple of minutes. QI was
OK, but maybe I was tired or
something because it didn't
strike me a great episode. I
was in bed reading by about
10:15pm. I think I read to
beyond 11pm before I turned
the light out, and was soon
asleep....or at least I
think I was, but when I try
to remember I find I have
doubts.
I seemed to have a
fairly good sleep, and I can
remember having quite a
selection of dreams, but
only a bit of one seemed
"interesting". In this dream
I had two brand new,
identical button up shirts
hanging on hangers. They
were basically red with a
slight stripy background. I
tried one on and it seemed
to fit beautifully. I then
must have taken it off and
left it on a small table.
There was an almost
identical shirt on that
table, except it was a black
version. It belonged to my
(now dead) friend Nigel.
I have no idea why we
didn't have shirts on at the
time, but when the time came
I accidently picked up
Nigel's shirt, and with no
other choice he picked up
mine. Nigel was at least 6ft
2in, and in later years he
lost some of his slimness
for a very small paunch. I
am only about 5ft 10in with
a rather large paunch.
Somehow it seemed that my
shorter body meant there was
more girth in the shirt, and
the opposite for Nigel. The
stunning peak of that dream
was that we were both
wearing identical sized
shirts, and both seemed to
fit like gloves. It was
weird, but pleasing.
This morning I seem
to have put on 400gm, but
that was without a decent
poo, and if I had got up an
hour later (it was back to
the earlier time closer to
7am when I got up) I would
probably have had another
small pee, and possibly a
small poo. It is is possible
(says he hopefully) that
there was little to no
increase in reality, but on
the other hand it seems the
inverse law was working for
my blood glucose level.
This morning my blood
glucose level was not great,
but all three meters showed
it to be very average -
except for October and June
this year (and possibly
other months) which had
lower averages. The Contour
meter and the GlucoRX meter
read 8.4mmol/l. That is just
under my old target of
8.5mmol/l, and I guess that
makes them good readings,
The Sinocare meter was a bit
higher, but not by much. It
was 8.9mmol/l. Meanwhile, at
least my blood pressure was
definitely very good at
104/52.
There is just
one important thing for
today - it is a Wednesday,
and I'll be heading for to
The Jolly Farmers for a
couple of lunchtime pints of
Guinness. I doubt I will be
seeing Kevin today, but you
never know... We still have
not seen a sunny spell yet,
and maybe there will be one
as I am travelling between
Catford Bridge and Ladywell
stations. That could be nice
for some photography along
the way. I must remember to
take a bag with me, and go
into the little supermarket
on Catford Bridge so I can
buy some nice fruit from
there, and probably some
instant noodles too.
