My
Electronic Diary For December 2024 |
Friday 27th December 2024 |
09:25 GMT
Yesterday was very grey, and it wasn't just my eyes, my camera agreed it was almost dark outside in some circumstances. At least it stayed dry, and the temperature rising to 199° C was a plus point. (Yesterday's comment edited to show 9° C instead of 11° C). Two instant facts
about the weather this morning - 1) The Met
Office says there will be mist all day long.
Here at home I can see a bit of a light haze
that reduces visibility down to probably
a mile (except the furthest thing I can see
from home is around half a mile away !). 2)
Maybe I am getting used to it, but it somehow
seems a bit brighter than yesterday. As can be
seen in the screenshot above, the BBC forecast
for today is all black clouds, but I think
they are only semi dark grey. The mist may be
extremely light drizzle falling, although only
3pm shows a mere 12% chance of rain. Most of
today will be just 8° C. Tomorrow may be a
lighter grey, but it should be dry. The
temperature may start and end at 6° C, but
there could be a couple of hours at 8° C.
I guess I should describe yesterday as quite a good day, despite it being another day that had a very bad/annoying ending. I actually did very little, and so most of my narrative starts at about 4.30pm. Only a few things happened before that. I have described my day, and a fair bit of my night, with some notes about this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was very grey, and it wasn't just my eyes, my camera agreed it was almost dark outside in some circumstances. At least it stayed dry, and the temperature rising to 11° C was a plus point. (Yesterday's comment edited to show 11° C instead of 12° C). The curious thing is
that yesterday the BBC were predicting fog and
mist for today. This morning the Met Office
forecast mist last all day today. The BBC now
say it will be clear, although an hour or so
ago I could just about make out a slight haze
in the air. Another thing not shown on this
morning's forecast is some fine drizzly rain.
I felt it myself an hour ago, and it looks
like it might be still falling. Oh well, back
to the fantasy of the forecast. It is going to
be grey all day, and the afternoon's
temperature should peak at 9° C. Tomorrow is
predicted to be a 1° C cooler version of
today.

Yesterday was very grey, and it wasn't just my eyes, my camera agreed it was almost dark outside in some circumstances. At least it stayed dry, and the temperature rising to 12° C was a plus point. Around sunrise
(08:05am) it looked like today could be duller
than yesterday, but I now think it will be
about the same. If it were any duller it would
be bedtime. Today may only see 11° C, but at
least it should stay dry. Tomorrow may start
with fog and mist, and end with mist. It will
be another very grey day, but once again it
should stay dry. Only 9° C is forecast, and so
it is going to be a very unpleasant day.

09:17 GMT
Yesterday's weather forecast predicted hours of sunshine or sunny spells. The sun finally broke through at least an hour later than forecast, but it only lasted for 5 minutes. I seem to recall just one more burst of sunshine, maybe around midday, but it lasted only a minute or so. The net result was that yesterday should be recorded as another dull, cold and miserable day. The temperature only reached 7° C, and for extra misery there was rain after dark. The forecast is
playing safe by showing dull skies for the
whole day, but as I type this the sun is
shining. It has been for the last half hour or
more, and the sky looks almost clear enough
for a fair bit more, although some patches of
thin cloud could dim it. This afternoon we can
expect the temperature to reach 12° C.
Tomorrow is currently forecast to be the same
as the forecast for today - dull all day - but
the temperature may only reach 11° C.
All my positive thoughts disappeared like the sun did yesterday morning. It didn't really turning into a depressing day, although it was boring now and then. I can't seem to remember doing anything more positive that taking out two rubbish bags - one for the general waste bin, and one for the recycling bin. Other than that I didn't leave the house. All I did yesterday, hw I slept, and some bad and good results this morning are described in my full archived page for today. |
Monday 23rd December 2024 |
09:50 GMT
Yesterday morning was mostly bright and sunny. This was not a fact shared by the weather forecast ! It was still cold, and although strong winds were forecast for later in the afternoon, that wind still felt like icy daggers. Fortunately I did not directly experience the really strong winds in the afternoon, but I could hear them OK. The afternoon was generally dull, and although only one shower was shown in the forecast, it often seemed damp and drizzly. It was still cold in the afternoon with the mercury only reaching 7° C. Good solid sunshine
is forecast for this morning. There has been
some, but as I write this the sun is stuck
behind a cloud. Hopefully there will be more
sunshine or sunny spells soon. It was a very
cold morning with my thermometers showing it
to be only just over 4° C. It should warm up
to 7° C, and maybe that won't feel so bad when
standing in full sunshine, but otherwise it
will be bloody freezing ! Hopefully, if it
ever returns, the sun will shine through my
front windows, and warm the front rooms up
nicely. From 7pm we can probably expect
drizzle, with an occasional break, until the
end of the day. Tomorrow is going to be dry
and a lot warmer - maybe 12° C, but it will
come at the cost of it being initially grey,
and later on, very grey without a single hint
of sunshine.
Most of yesterday was pretty good, although it all went terribly wrong late last night (and into the early hours of this morning). All that going wrong is the main reason why I have started writing so late, but it is also because time seems to have slipped without noticing it. The fairly complete description of my day, yesterday, plus my rather terrible night, and some notes about this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Sunday 22nd December 2024 |
09:25 GMT
Yesterday was very dull, very damp, and despite it apparently reaching 12° C in the afternoon, it still felt cold as well. A really miserable day. This morning it was
colder than the forecast predicted. Clear
skies took the temperature down to 4° C, and
probably lower before sunrise. The clear sky
means that at the moment we have some
wonderful sunshine. It looks like it could
continue for at least the next hour, and maybe
longer. The only thing I think may be true in
the forecast is the predicted gusty winds.
Maybe it will only reach 7° C today, but the
wind is from the east, and that is usually a
warm direction, and maybe if the sun continues
to shine it could raise the temperature
another degree or two. Tomorrow forecast shows
full sunshine from sunrise to midday, and then
sunny spells from then until sunset. it may
still only be 7° C at best.
Even if yesterday did reach 12° C, it didn't feel like it. It was definitely cold feeling, definitely gloomy, and most definitely very damp. In short, a really miserable and depressing day. It didn't inspire me to do much except to eat too much, or the wrong things, or both. I tried to keep it brief, but my day is more fully described, along with my night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Saturday 21st December 2024 |
08:59 GMT
There was some nice sunshine or sunny spells yesterday morning, but it was back to dull cloud some time after midday, although I think the sunny spells lasted a bit longer than the weather forecast predicted. From mid afternoon it was supposed to rain, but I think the first rain may have been a lot later. I'm not even sure the temperature went up to 9° C at 3pm as the forecast predicted, bit it probably did a bit later. Today looks like it
will be a very murky day. It is certainly wet
as I write this, and the rain, and then
drizzle (maybe) may only take a break for a
couple of hours from midday. It may be dry
from 5pm onwards. The temperature may peak as
high as 12° C today. Tomorrow should be dry,
but with a high of just 7° C, and that for
maybe only 2 hours, it will feel very chilly.
There may be sunny spells at 9am and
3pm, but otherwise it will be possibly light
grey all day.
I guess yesterday should be classified as a good day. I think I achieved all I intended to do, although I didn't manage the fast I said I ought to do until dinner time. Despite temptations I did half manage to control what I ate, and how much, and that part achieved what I hoped for. My entire description of yesterday, last night, and this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Friday 20th December 2024 |
09:29 GMT
After a dull start, yesterday was generally bright and sunny. It was forecast as sunny spells from 10am, but if I recall correctly, they started closer to 11am. Some lf the later sunny spells seemed to last for ages, and maybe some hours should have been called sunny instead of sunny spells. The temperature only reached about 7° C, and so it was still a cold day, and clear skies after sunset meant the temperature fell to just 3° C by midnight. I'm unsure if the
temperature fell lower than 3° C during the
hours of darkness, but next doors shed seems
to have frost on it. It was 3° C at about 8am,
but it seems to be warming up now. I can
currently see some streaks of darker cloud,
but much of the sky is blue, and some just has
some thin, almost transparent cloud. This
means we have had almost non stop sunshine for
the last hour, but sometimes it does seem weak
and watery sunshine. The forecast says sunny
spells until midday. From 3pm, and an hour
after the temperature should have risen to 9°
C, it will probably start to rain. Mostly it
should be light rain, and it will finish with
drizzle at 7pm. After that the cloud will be
getting thin, and the temperature will be
dropping again, but it will rise again to 7° C
tomorrow morning. Most of tomorrow will be
grey, and wet, but the temperature may climb
to 12° C.
Yesterday seemed to be a very busy day (by my standards) until mid afternoon when I could relax with some beers. After I finished writing I had my usual rest, albeit probably a bit shorter than usual, and then I washed my hair and had a shower. By the time I was dried and dressed it was time to turn the new fridge/freezer on. What happened next, and all there bits worth noting about my day, night, and this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Thursday 19th December 2024 |
08:25 GMT
The promised sunny spells for yesterday afternoon didn't come to much. In fact seem to remember a single sunny spells all day. The morning was medium dull, and so was the afternoon. From 5pm it was supposed to rain, albeit starting with an hour of drizzle. I'm not sure that it did, but with the curtains closed at 4pm (approx sunset), and not going outside, it was hard to tell. The ground looks dry this morning, and that suggests there wasn't much, if any rain last night. The morning, and first few hours of the afternoon were certainly warm, but only during lulls in the gusty wind. I am sure that morning and early afternoon temperature was the forecast 14°C. This morning is
dull, and at just 7° C, a bit cool. Once
again, sunny spells are forecast from late
morning through to sunset. Unfortunately they
won't raise the temperature about the 7° C
start. Clear skies in the evening will mean
the temperature will drop to just 3° C by
midnight. Tomorrow will start at just 3° C,
but it will slowly warm up. There could be
some sunny spells in the morning, but by the
time the temperature peaks at 9° C at 2pm, it
will start to rain for possibly the rest of
the day.
After my traditional little rest, after writing yesterday's piece, I had some special work to do before I went out for my regular Wednesday lunchtime drink. I seemed to write quite a lot yesterday, 2154 words, but I must have done it quickly because I had time to have a shower, and do my special work. All this and the rest of my day, plus so far this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Wednesday 18th December 2024 |
09:18 GMT
Yesterday was quite dull, and the temperature was sort of up and down through the day. In late morning the temperature rose to 11°C, but then fell to 9°C before rising again to 11°C just before midnight. The last few hours of the day were also wet. Today has almost
started off warm, although my thermometers say
closer to 13° C than the forecast 14° C. Also
it looks very wet outside, and at the very
least it is a fall of drizzle. It is forecast
to be dry until 5pm. If reality and the
forecast meet later there should be sunny
spells from 1pm until sunset. From 3pm the
temperature may drop to 12° C, and then strong
winds and more rain will raise it to 13° C
again. The latest revision shows strong winds
only for 8pm. The temperature will continue to
fall through the night, and tomorrow may start
at just 7° C. Sunny spells from as early as
9am through to sunset should keep the
temperature about the same, but clear skies
tomorrow night will see the temperature dip to
just 4° C by Friday morning.
It seemed like I had done almost nothing yesterday, but looking back at my bed when I got up, I remembered that I had been modestly productive until early evening when I have to admit I only had one thing to show for it, but more about that further down the page. The full description of my day, plus my night, and this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Tuesday 17th December 2024 |
08:58 GMT
The forecast sunny spells for yesterday were a big disappointment. I think I noticed some of them, but I was busy for some of the time. What was more noticeable was that it was quite mild yesterday. There seemed to be little wind, and the temperature was 11° C for much of the daylight hours. It is dry, but very
dull as I write this. Later on the clouds may
be a bit lighter, but still too thick to let
any sunshine through. By 10pm rain should
start. The temperature is going to be up and
down all day, and should range between 9° C,
and 11° C. Tomorrow's forecast seems
unlikely, but if true, the day will start with
drizzle, very strong winds, and an almost warm
14° C. At 9am the wind should drop to more of
a breeze. At 11am the clouds should start to
thin enough that from 1pm there could be three
hours of sunny spells. Also the temperature
will fall to 13° C, and then 12° C. At 5pm
there will be drizzle, and that will be
followed by light rain. At 7pm the rain will
turn heavy for a few hours. Of course, the
forecast for tomorrow is just wild
speculation, and reality could be very
different.
Yesterday was far more successful than I had imagined it could be. It all got off to a slow start. It was probably getting near midday when I finished writing, and then, after a rest, I washed my hair and had a shower. That made me feel good, and I needed to feel good because I had important work to do. That and the rest of my day, night, and this morning is all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Monday 16th December 2024 |
09:52 GMT
Not a ray of sunshine was forecast for yesterday, but we did get a fair few sunny spells. The temperature reached 12° C in the afternoon, and that was nice, but I think the sunny spells were over by then, and so it was not an extra nice day. The Met Office was a
bit more generous with it's sunny spells
today, compared to the BBC forecast above. If
The met Office are right there could be sunny
spells from 10am (which doesn't seem likely at
the moment) to 3pm this afternoon. Maybe the
BBC is closer to the truth, or maybe today
will be like yesterday with sunny spells that
were just not shown in the forecast, and some
of those sunny spells were long enough to be
described as "sunny". Today should be dry, and
the afternoon should be 11° C. Tomorrow is
currently forecast to be dull but dry until
almost midnight, when there could be rain. It
should be 10° C, and I guess that is not too
bad for mid December.
There were a few bad things yesterday. Almost enough to call it a bad day, but there were also good things too, to offset the bad things. It was another day when I should have washed my hair, but once again I didn't seem to have the patience or the time. My day, terrible night, and this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Sunday 15th December 2024 |
09:43 GMT
The bright sunshine yesterday was really nice, but there was not enough of it. The first sunny spell was before 11am, and from 11am it was almost continuous sunshine until 3pm. At 3pm it was getting cloudy, and it did not take very long before the last bit of daylight was just grey light. The other personal problem about yesterday was that the sun is so low in the sky that it goes behind a big building opposite me, and I lost any warming effect in my bedroom for an hour or two. Outside it did manage to warm up to 7° C. No sunshine is
forecast for today, but it should stay dry
despite some of the cloud being almost black
(if I interpret the forecast correctly).
Despite no sunshine, the temperature should
reach an almost warm 12° C. Tomorrow
should be another dry day, and the middle of
the day should feature some sunny spells. It
will be almost as warm as today, but only 11°
C is currently forecast, but it could all
change in tomorrow's version.
I seem to be having another late start this morning, but it may not matter because I probably don't have a lot to say (but who knows what might tumble out once I get started). All I did that I can remember, or is worth mentioning, during the day, my night, and the start of this morning, is described in my complete archived page for today. |
Saturday 14th December 2024 |
09:58 GMT
Once again, yesterday was cold, dull and miserable. Maybe the afternoon was slightly less dull, but it was also colder with the temperature down to 5° C. It was supposed to be dry, or at least no rain was shown in the forecast, but it still seemed to be damp - as if there were occasional falls of fine drizzle. Today there is a ray
of hope - literally a ray of sunshine. Early
this morning I saw people walking
outside with umbrellas up, and the ground
certainly looked wet. Any drizzle has probably
stopped now, and I cans see some thinner areas
of cloud. It still seems ages away, but maybe
midday will see some sunny spells, and then 2
and 3pm will see full sunshine until the sun
sets at 15:51 today. The sunshine will only
raise the temperature up to 7° C, and while
the sunshine will help, it was still feel very
cold. Tomorrow it will be back to grey
weather, but it could stay dry, and most
incredible is that the afternoon temperature
could rise to 11° C. In full sunshine that
could feel OK in just a t-shirt, but I expect
it will still feel very cool in the gloom.
Yesterday had the potential to be quite a miserable day, and particularly so because I had to try to fast for most of the day. I, and I imagine I am not alone, find cold grey weather makes me feel hungry. I almost managed to fight it, and although I didn't do as well as intended, I did manage to achieve part good results. All that can be described about yesterday, last night and ny dream, plus this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Friday 13th December 2024 |
09:11 GMT
Yesterday was cold, dull and miserable - just like many recent days. In addition to the cold and lack of sunshine, there was also some rain. It was mostly light rain or drizzle, but still horrible. The afternoon temperature rose from 7° C to 8° C, and that is the one single positive, but useless thing about the day. It is very wet out
this morning. There must have been some rain
in the early hours, and I think there might
even still be some light drizzle even if the
forecast says zero chance of any rain in the
last hour. The forecast actually says no rain
at all today. The morning will feature thick
cloud, but the cloud should thin a bit after
sunset, and so there is still zero chance of
seeing any sunshine today. Most of the
daylight hours will be 6° C. Tomorrow is
currently forecast to start with some drizzle,
but the afternoon may see some sunny
spells, and it could be 8° C - which is still
pretty chilly.
One way of looking at it is that yesterday was a disaster, albeit a slowly acting disaster. That will be explained in due course. Another way of looking at it is that yesterday was a nice day, and that will be explained too.One definite thing is that I missed a lot of good sleep last night. That too will be explained in my complete archived page for today. |
Thursday 12th December 2024 |
08:19 GMT
Yesterday is best described as dull and cold, and I think that sums it up well. There was no sign of the sun, and the temperature only just made the forecast 7° C. The Met Office says
it will be misty until quite late in the day.
It did look misty when I peeped out from
behind the curtains at about 6:30am, but once
there was a bit more light in the sky it had
vanished - if it was even there in the first
place ! This morning it seems to be a few
tenths of a degree below the forecast 6° C,
but it is supposed to warm up to 7° C very
soon. Drizzle may start to fall at 1pm, and
the temperature should go up another degree by
2pm, and at 4pm the drizzle may turn into
light rain. It is going to be another
miserable day with no sunshine. Tomorrow may
be another sunless day, but the clouds may be
a bit lighter. The temperature sometimes be 6°
C and sometimes 7° C, but by midnight the
temperature could fall to 5° C.
The main problem yesterday was the dull and cold weather. I burned a lot of electricity keeping my bedroom, where I tend to spend much of my free time, warm. I was OK when I went out. I wore one of my thick hooded coats, and at one time I was feeling a bit too warm ! My day, night, and the start of this morning, is more completely described in my full archived page for today. |
Wednesday 11th December 2024 |
09:15 GMT
It took until 10am for yesterday's morning drizzle to finish - an hour later than forecast. After that it was just a very dull, very monotonous day of dark clouds and 7° C. The wind made it feel like it was about to snow, but nothing fell from the sky. At 10pm the temperature dropped to 6° C. There was a lot of
dew on the cars outside this morning, and the
road looked damp like there might have been
some rain in the small hours. Today will be
much like today - very grey, and just 7° C
until 10pm when, also like yesterday, the
temperature will drop to 6° C. Today should be
completely dry, but a 21% chance of some sort
of rainfall is predicted for midday. Tomorrow
may feature many random spells of drizzle, and
maybe an hour of light rain. The whole day
will range between dull and very dull. One
change is that at 1pm the temperature may rise
from even more 7° C to 8° C. Maybe the wind
will be a bit lighter than today, but today's
wind looks to be little more than a medium
breeze.
Yesterday seemed like it might have been a fairly good day. On the face of it, it did seem to be a day when I found enough to do, but maybe at a slightly subconscious level I must have been feeling a bit lost/depressed/unsatisfied/other negative things. It revealed itself as almost zero control of my eating, and that had consequences. Maybe it wasn't quite as bad as I thought. It is all better described, along with my night and some of this morning, in my full archived page for today. |
Tuesday 10th December 2024 |
08:04 GMT
Yesterday started off really nice (except for the temperature). Contrary to any forecast I saw, it was bright and sunny, and although it seemed to cloud over around 11am, the sun still managed a few brief appearances until midday. What let it all down was that the temperature yesterday was almost a constant 7° C - rather cool ! Some light rain was forecast for the evening, but I don't think it started until much later than forecast. It is certainly dull
and drizzly this morning, just like the
forecast predicts. It may dry up around 9am,
but it will probably be very overcast all day
long, and once again the temperature will be
stuck at 7° C all day long as well. My
thermometers currently say it is only 6° C,
but I guess that is close enough. The forecast
has just been revised to say the drizzle won't
stop until 10am now, and the temperature will
drop to 6° C at 10pm. Tomorrow is shown as
starting at 6° C, but it may rise to 7° C at
11am. It will be very cloudy, and very gloomy
from dawn to about 3pm, when it will change to
medium grey clouds.
Yesterday was sort of good, but sometimes that has a downside, and indeed it did, but I'll explain that further down the page. The best bit of the best bits was during the morning, when instead of the dull, cold and miserable weather forecast, the sky was mostly clear, and the sun blazed down. This and more of my day, plus my night, and this morning, is all more fully described in my complete archived page for today. |
Monday 9th December 2024 |
08:55 GMT
Yesterday was wet, very very wet, and until midday it was extremely windy. Even after midday it was still a bit blowy, but mild compared to the morning. The rain was supposed to only stop at 7pm, but there was at least one period sometime around midday when the rain appeared to stop. I am not sure if the rain did finally stop at 7pm because by then it as dark, and without actually going outside it was hard to check. Most of the day was just 7° C, but the temperature rose slightly in the evening. The forecast says
thick cloud all day, but this morning has
started with a semi clear sky and sunshine !
The sky still looks clear enough that it could
last for at least an hour or two. Out of
curiosity I've just check the view out of the
back of the house (towards the north), and the
sky is also at least 90% clear in that
direction. The forecast is actually predicting
drizzle as I write this. It make me wonder how
accurate the rest of the forecast can be. The
temperature should drop soon from 8 to 7° C,
but it is barely above 6° C as I write this.
Maybe it will rise to 7° C and then stay there
for the rest of the day. Maybe there will be
rain tonight, and maybe the afternoon will
feature thick cloud, but who knows ?
Tomorrow may be 7° C almost all day,
and be very cloudy with occasional falls of
drizzle.
I'm not sure how to describe my day, yesterday. It was neither good nor bad, but I guess there was a bias towards the good. It was certainly a day when I watched my food intake more rigidly than recently, and reaped some slight benefit from it. My day and night, and also this morning, is more fully described in my complete archived page for today. |
Sunday 8th December 2024 |
09:35 GMT
Yesterday was wet, very very wet ! Most of it was light rain, but there were heavy downfalls too. There was not a hint of sunshine, and the afternoon temperature was just 6° C. On top of all that negativity was very strong winds, over 50mph at the start of the morning, but mostly around 45mph during the day. The strong winds
should calm down at midday, but the rain, now
all shown as light rain, will continue until
6pm. Before 6pm the temperature will be just
7° C, but it will rise to 8° C after.
Once again, no hint of sunshine is expected.
Tomorrow may be mostly dry until 7pm, and then
mostly only drizzle. Once again not a single
ray of sunshine is expected. The temperature
will probably be the reverse of today - 8° C
in the morning, and 7° C after 8am, and for
the rest of the day.
It seems curious to say it now, but yesterday seemed to be a quite good day - despite the loathsome weather. Not going out helped to make the weather of less concern, but one of the good things about yesterday was that my roof stayed on, and remained water tight despite that the the weather threw at it. Other good things, plus the rest of my day, my night, and the start of this morning are all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Saturday 7th December 2024 |
09:36 GMT
Yesterday morning was bright and sunny until early afternoon, but it only pushed the temperature up a single degree to 8° C. 3pm saw the sky start to cloud over, and at 4pm we had lost any sunshine. The forecast said at 6pm, but I think it could have been as much as two hours later than that, it started to rain, and the temperature was climbing to 12° C by midnight. There are two main
features to today's weather, not counting that
it will also be rather cool. One is that it
may rain non stop to beyond midnight. Much of
the rain is shown as light rain, but there
might be some heavy rain this morning. The
other main feature is the wind. I am not sure
we have seen gust of 55mph yet because I have
seen no wheelie bins flying around, but it
most definitely is very windy, and it too will
continue to beyond midnight. It will be
another day when the temperature in the middle
of the day will be lower than at the ends of
it. This afternoon may only see 6° C. Tomorrow
will see more rain and strong winds. The winds
may calm down after 1pm, and the rain may stop
after 10pm. Much of tomorrow may see a
temperature of 7° C, but it may rise to 8° C
from 5pm.
Yesterday turned out to be better than expected in quite a few ways. My guts seemed tender after all the trouble I had the previous night (and early hours of yesterday morning), but that seemed to fade away quite quickly. A nice snooze, albeit maybe only lasting 30 minutes made me feel much fresher. What I did during the day, how I slept at night, and how I feel this morning, and what I might do today, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |

The first half of yesterday was dry and rather dull. The second half involved a lot of rain - some drizzle, some light showers and some heavy showers. It was 13° C from morning to 8pm, and that should have felt mild, but with no sunshine, and the later rain, it seemed to feel rather cool. Sunshine was
forecast by both The Met Office and The BBC
for this morning, and this time that is
exactly what we have. The clear skies meant
that it was less than 7° C earlier, but it is
starting to creep upwards. It seems it will
only go up a single degree to 8° C until 8pm
when it will rise further as warmer and wetter
winds bring rain and strong winds for tonight.
Tomorrow the day defies convention by being
warmer at the start and end of the day, and
cooler in the middle. The afternoon
temperature could be as low as 6° C, and to
make matters worse there could be winds
gusting from 44 to 50mph !
There is a good reason why I have started writing so late this afternoon, and it will be explained when I come to writing about the evening. Much of yesterday was fairly good, although I suppose not enough really happened to comment on until the afternoon beer tasting/drinking session. The evening was quite unpleasant, and together with a description of my day, there is a description of my night, that extends well into the small hours of this morning, plus some notes about this morning, and all can be read in my complete archived page for today. |

I don't remember any sunny spells yesterday morning, although the forecast could have been right - there were some blue areas of sky, but they just seemed to be where the sun wasn't ! Until very late in the evening, maybe 10pm, it was generally a dull and cold feeling day. The afternoon temperature only reached 8° C. The temperature did rise to 10° C as midnight approached, and the rain starting to change from light rain to heavy rain. The Met Office has
the audacity to say there will be sunny spells
this morning. The BBC forecast says it will be
light grey, and maybe there will be a sunny
spell at 10am. The reality is that last
night's rain has still not finished. It looks
very wet outside, and I see cars with their
windscreen wipers operating. The only positive
thing is that this morning has started
at 13° C - just as forecast ! The temperature
may only start to fall at 9pm tonight.
Assuming it does stop before, the rain will
resume at 3pm with some drizzle, and build up
to heavy rain for 7pm. Tomorrow morning may
see clear skies and a chilly 7° C. Full
sunshine is predicted from about 8am, and that
should warm things up a tiny bit to 8° C. At
6pm rain will resume, and by a very soggy
midnight it may rise to 12° C.
I guess it could be described as a self inflicted wound late yesterday afternoon, and that would have some consequence, but otherwise yesterday fairly OK, and I even had a minor triumph. Of course all these things will be better described, with some pictures, plus notes on my sleep and dreams, plus this morning, in my my complete archived page for today. |

We had some occasional nice spells of sunshine yesterday, but it was still a cold day. I don't think the temperature went over 7° C. It is cold and grey
as I write this. However, I can see some large
patches of blue sky, and so the sunny spells
forecast from 9am look very possible. By
midday they may be over, but it should remain
dry until maybe 10pm when light rain is
predicted. The temperature should slowly rise
from this morning's 5° C to 10° C by midnight,
but the afternoon may only be 8° C.
Tomorrow may start very wet, but it could be
dry from 8am to 3pm when more rain will fall.
There might even be a few sunny spells around
midday. It should be warmer too with a
magnificent 13° C forecast !
Not a lot happened yesterday, and that should make writing this a bit quicker than recently. Maybe it was one of those days when there was little pressure, or indeed need to do much, and so being quite lazy didn't seem boring. As far as I can remember, the day passed quite quickly. My day, such as it was, plus some notes about my sleep and dreams, and also notes about this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday started with some very nice sunshine, but it didn't take long for the clear sky to completely cloud over. Most of the day was dull, albeit with a few more brief sunny spells late in the afternoon. From about 3pm we were afflicted by light rain or drizzle until mid evening. I think the temperature reached 11° C for an hour or two, but 9° C was most typical for a fair bit of the day. It wasn't cold
enough for a frost this morning, and I am not
sure if it ever went as low as 3° C as shown
on the forecast. The jump of a whole 3° C
between 8 and 9am looks unrealistic. As I
write this it is about 7° C. I don't think I
have seen a sunny spell yet, but there are
plenty of blue bits of sky among the clouds,
and so sunny spells are very possible. It is
going to be a cold day with just 7° C
forecast, although if it is 7° C now, it could
go up to 8° C later. Tomorrow could start at
4° C, but the temperature could climb to 10° C
by midnight. There could be rain at the start
and end of the day, but most of it may be dry,
and much of the middle of the day may feature
sunny spells.
Yesterday was a sort of low key hectic day - if that makes any sense. There were four things I hoped to achieve yesterday, and I am happy to say I achieved them all. Another aim was to eat very carefully, and that I only half achieved. The low level stress made me feel hungry. The full story of yesterday, with a lot of photos, plus the usual notes about my night and this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday started grey and wet, but the clouds did thin mid afternoon. If we did have a sunny spell in the middle of the afternoon, as forecast, it must have been a flash faster than my camera flash gun. There were just two temperature to choose from yesterday. At the ends of the day it was 12° C, and in the middle it was 13° C. This morning it
seems like the Met Office forecast is slightly
closer to reality, although on reflection, the
BBC forecast is not a lot different. It is
reality that is different. As I type this the
sky is at least 50%, and maybe 75% blue, and
the sun is shining. Later on it may well cloud
over, and by mid afternoon there might be
light rain or drizzle. Most of today could be
10 or 11° C. Tomorrow could be bright and dry,
but it will be very cold. A high of just 6° C
is forecast by the BBC.
Yesterday was a curious mix of hectic and relaxed. There didn't seem to be any rush to do stuff, but I achieved quite a bit, and that included far more photo editing than expected - and so much of today's edition of the electronic diary will be photos. There are about 10 photos to see, plus a description of my day, plus notes about my night and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was a very grey day, without a hint of sunshine, but at 13° C it seemed to be quite mild. Shame about the very light, but very persistent drizzle from around sunset onwards. December has started
grey and damp. It seems to be like last nights
fine drizzle at the moment - enough to slowly
get the ground damp, but not enough to feel
much like rain when walking through it. Maybe
it will get a little heavier later, or maybe
it will stop now and then. In the seemingly
highly unlikely even that the forecast is
right, we may get a sunny spell at 3pm. The
Met Office forecast reckons there will be
sunny spells from 1pm, and they will last
until sunset. The afternoon temperature should
be 13° C, and that is the same as yesterday,
and didn't feel too bad. Tomorrow may start
dry, and with a possible single sunny spell,
but the afternoon will probably feature rain,
mostly just drizzle. It may start at 10° C,
but the temperature will slowly drop to 9° C
by 9am, and then 8° C by 3pm. The day may end
with the temperature down to 6° C.
Yesterday was a rather tiring day, but it was still a good day. It was good to get out with my best camera and lens for quite a few hours. The only really negative thing was that the train I wanted to get to Petts Wood station was cancelled, but the next one ran on time. My day, with some pictures, is described along with notes about my sleep and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
