As per
the forecast, it is rather cold
and dull this morning, but the
clouds seem like they may be
light enough to break up later.
I don't think it will happen at
the forecast time of 9am - that
is only 14 minutes away as I
type this. Assuming we do get
the full sunshine forecast to
start at 11am, the temperature
should rise to 20° C - which is
good, but not that good. At the
moment it looks like tomorrow
may be a re-run of today, but
the temperature may only reach
19° C, and that seems a bit
poor.
Yesterday could be
described as an annoying day,
but maybe only a bit of it was
really annoying. The laxative
pill I took the day before
yesterday certainly did it's
stuff, and that was not annoying
at all, but rather good,
although if the visits to the
toilet had continued into the
afternoon it could have been a
bit annoying.
Apart from the extra, and
rather productive, visits to the
toilet, yesterday morning was
rather typical. I wrote 2,270
words, and then had a lie down.
There was one other thing I did.
It was to check to Evri website
to see if there was any movement
on the parcel I was expecting.
It got to midday, and although
it said it was at the delivery
depot, it had still not gone out
for delivery.
I still had a probably
irrational belief that my parcel
still might arrive yesterday.
That belief, plus a slight
stomach ache after so many
visits to the toilet, meant that
I didn't want to go out. Now
that was a bit annoying because
the sunshine looked lovely, and
I could have done with some
exercise. I didn't really do
anything of note in the
afternoon, and then I got an
email....

The message said that my
delivery could take place as
early as 3pm, but the message
was sent at 3:12pm. Maybe that
was a hint that the clock on the
tool the delivery driver uses
was wrong.
By 4pm there was no sign
of the delivery van. There was
no sign of a delivery van at
4:12pm, but there was an estate
car driven by a young black
lady, and she had a pile of
parcels in the back. One of them
was mine
My parcel contained a box
with a brand new pair of Adidas
trainers. In the past I always
considered these, and others, to
be a bit to "sporty" for my
personality. However, Ayse, my
favourite barmaid, often wears
Adidas trainers, and one pair is
similar to those pictured above.
She always looks so light on her
feet when she wears them, and
they also look so comfortable on
her. The flaw in this argument
is that she was a trained dancer
when younger, and still retains
her very slim figure, and that
itself is good enough for her to
look light on her feet.
My previous newest
trainers are wide fitting, that
suits my feet, and in that
respect they are comfortable.
Unfortunately they feel heavy
and inflexible. The flexibility
is getting better now I have
been wearing them in, but I
still fancied something with the
flexability and temporary
comfort of short lived, cheap,
supermarket trainers. It looked
like the Adidas trainers might
be the answer.
I hope they are long
lasting, but my weight does give
them a real pounding. I
put the Adidas trainers
soon after they arrived, and I
didn't bother with any sticking
plaster on any of my usual sore
spots. They went on fairly
easily, and thatw as a good
sign. I wore them for about 2
hours, and apart from a few
places where any shoe tends to
rub me, they did seem
unusually comfortable. All I
have to hope for now is that
they are long lasting - as a
semi expensive (£42 plus
p&p), well known branded,
pair of trainers should do.
One problem during the
afternoon, while semi bored
waiting, was that that I ate a
bit more than is good for me. My
lunch was not the usual rolls,
but rice crackers, so a semi
good start, with Tesco "soft
cheese", and so not such a good
idea. I ate more of than that
than was probably good for me.
before the afternoon was over I
had also eaten 2 (25gm) packets
of crisps, and also a whole 5
stick pack of hot Pepperami.
I almost forgot that it
was not long before dinner that
I had some ice cream, and again
it was more than intended
because there was maybe a
serving and a half left in the
tub, and I just ate the lot -
and thoroughly enjoyed it (even
if it was cheap and basic
supermarket own brand ice cream.
It was not long before it
was dinner time, and made a sort
of salad based around the big
(although not very big) pork pie
I felt compelled to buy when I
was in Tesco the day before. I
still have no idea why I had
this mutant thought that I
should have a pork pie for
dinner. I ate it with a large
tomato, and some piccalilli. The
last large tomato from the pack
of 4 or 5 seemed a bit
tasteless. this time I sprinkled
some salt on it (something I
very rarely use), and it did
make it taste a lot better.
I finished dinner with
just two pieces of fruit. I had
an almost ripe nectarine. In
some ways it was quite nice - it
was still a bit firm, without
being hard, and it was only
slightly tart. The other piece
of fruit was actually a large
juicy orange. It was one I had
bought from the little
supermarket on Catford Bridge,
and their oranges are nearly
always much nicer than those
bought from Tesco.
I watched the usual
selection of TV programmes last
night, and finished on another
2017 edition of Have I Got News
For You. Once again it was not
terribly good, and it mostly
went in one ear and out the
other. I wonder if I really did
watch it....I think I did,
but... Anyway, at 10pm I was
heading for bed. I felt like I
could fall asleep as soon as my
head hit the pillow. That does
happen occasionally, but it is
pretty rare, and last night was
not one of those times. I seemed
to feel uncomfortable in ways
that are too diverse to
describe. I got up again, and
took a couple of paracetamol
tablets and gave them over half
an hour to work.
I went back to bed, and
while I didn't fall asleep as
quickly as it felt like I
should, it was not too long
before I was fast asleep. Maybe
it was before 11pm. It was
another night where I seemed to
get up to pee less often, but
did much bigger pees. That was
handy because I weighed myself
before getting in bed, and I
seemed to be heavier than recent
nights, and wondered how I could
peen enough to make me look a
lot lighter this morning. Those
big pees turned out to be
essential.
I seemed to have many
dreams last night, but only bits
of one seem to still lurk in my
memory. It was another being
back at work dream. It was set
in a big room that had both
bench engineers and the
development staff in it. I
didn't seem to be doing much
work, but what I did do was
manage to somehow copy part of a
speech, by one of the
development engineers about a
possible new product, onto my
Psion
Organiser II - a very neat
device for it's time, but one
that had no audio capability
except for beeps.
It was my intention to
show off my skills by playing it
back to the man who had recorded
it for the company website.
Sadly it was too quiet in the
noisy workshop environment, and
I was soon distracted by the new
product that was being
developed. My instant
contribution is that the case
should be painted in very dark
blue - almost, but not quite
black. I have no idea where that
came from, but it was taken on
board as a good idea.
This morning was another
with a false start. In other
words I woke up, went for a pee,
and decided it was nearly an
hour too early, and so went back
to bed. I think I actually got
up about 4 minutes later. It
didn't seem like I urgently
needed a pee, and so this
morning I checked my blood
glucose first. I thought it
might be high after the pork pie
(which I think contained more
sugar than you might think), the
portion and a half of ice cream,
and the large sweet orange (and
the Nectarine, but to a lesser
extent).
The Contour meter seemed
to read even higher than
expected, and after seeing the
GlucoRX meter I re-did the
Contour meter. This time it read
a slightly more reasonable
8.6mmol/l, but higher than
desirable. The GlucoRX meter
read a very slightly better
8.5mmol/l. The Sinocare did it's
usual when presented by my
slightly high blood glucose, and
gave a much higher reading. It
read an close to dangerous
9.4mmol/l. It is lucky I know
that meter all too well, and
anything over about 8mmol/l
always triggers a much higher
reading.
After doing my blood
glucose I went to the toilet
where I did a small pee, but no
poo. I guess I might have almost
done enough yesterday to keep me
going until maybe this
evening....but we'll see. I then
weighed myself, and found I had
put on some weight, but only
100gm, and that is a small
enough amount to
ignore....unless it happens
every day when it would be bad.
Hopefully it won't be long
before I will see a small drop,
maybe even a big one if all the
cogs are in the right place.
Today it is my intention
to go to Nunhead Cemetery. They
are having an open day, and
there are a few sights that may
be worth seeing, but it is time
I paid another visit anyway. On
a quiet day it can be a nice
place to wander in solitude. I
expect today could be quite
busy, and that will spoil it a
bit, but a few of the exhibits,
if I can get clear enough views
for photography, may make up for
it. Of course this aim is
dependant on not feeling like I
could need a poo at any time.
maybe I feel that way right now.
Since finished the
previous paragraph one half a
problem is solved. I think I may
want to have one more poo before
I actually go out, but it was a
fair start. Another problem
today is no direct trains to
Nunhead Station from Catford
station. I can get a train from
Catford Bridge as far as
Lewisham, and then change
trains. I think it is only a
short wait for the train to
Nunhead. I am not so sure it
will be so quick coming home
again, but if it turns out to be
a 25 minute wait I could easily
get a bus from Lewisham.
Assuming I do go out to
Nunhead, and it at least seems
probable now, I have a great
opportunity to give my new
Adidas trainers a test. I do
wonder if it is wise to go
straight out for a fair bit of
walking with untested trainers,
but I think that with sticking
plasters over the more sensitive
bits, they will hopefully turn
out to be rather good. At
the worst I can hang around the
stations and just do some train
spotting !
