The
weather forecast was almost right
yesterday. This time it correctly
showed that the morning would be
dull, and also a rather cool at the
start. I don't remember the
following sunny spells to be all
that sunny, but the evening was
rather nice and sunny, even if the
day was as good as over for me. The
afternoon may have reached 19° C.
The
weather forecast for today is
almost the inverse of recent
days. Today has started with
blue skies and nice sunshine,
and after a 10° C start it is
already starting to warm up.
Unfortunately the full sunshine
is forecast to give way to just
sunny spells from 1pm. The sunny
spells may continue until
sunset. The afternoon
temperature should reach 22° C.
Overnight cloud means tomorrow
may start a little less cool at
14° C, but it may only rise to a
maximum of 17° C in the
afternoon. The reason will be a
lot of cloud, and quite probably
a lot of inconvenient rain !
Yesterday turned out to
be another day that turned out
to be completely different to
how it was supposed to be.
Instead of going out I stayed in
all day long. The cool, grey and
miserable morning was a strong
reason for this, but there was
one other that I'll come to
later.
I did lots of small
things yesterday that didn't
fill a tenth of the time
available, but it still seemed
like a semi-productive sort of
day. Just for a change, I'll try
and keep the details of most of
my day brief, but there was one
thing I did yesterday that can
trace it's roots back to last
Friday night/Saturday morning.
It was while I was
getting up to pee last Friday
night and early Saturday
morning, that I spied a large
bodied, fat legged spider
sitting on the ceiling. After
getting up I felt in a better
position to do something about
it, but it seemed to have
disappeared. I did not see it on
Sunday, but yesterday morning it
was back, but I only noticed it
after using the shower. It had
been sitting almost over my
head. Once I was dry and part
dressed I used a long stick to
knock it off the ceiling into
the bath. I could then get my
glass and beer mat to trap and
pick it up and dispose of it !
One important thing I
almost forgot to mention was
that about 11am I phoned the
surgery to see if I could make
an appointment with the nurse
for my annual diabetic check up.
I was expecting an attempt to
get me to use their app or
website to make the appointment,
but although that was suggested,
it didn't become a barrier, and
while it was a bit of wait to go
through all the recorded
announcements, I finally got
reception. There was a long
period of silence as she was
filling through all the time
slots until she found a free
slot. I see the nurse at 9.30am
on the 5th of June !
From the above it is
obvious that after I had
finished writing, and having my
usual rest, I washed my hair and
had a shower. Once dressed I was
theoretically ready to go out,
but there was a problem. On
Sunday I was constipated,
although I was not actually
uncomfortable, but I knew I
could soon be. Before bed I took
a laxative tablet. That did the
trick, but maybe a bit too well
yesterday.
After a few visits to the
the toilet I thought that maybe
I was OK, but it was about 1pm,
when I might have gone out
because we had had a few sunny
spells by then, that I felt the
need to go to the toilet again,
and this time it was only a
notch or two less than
diarrhoea. I thought it would be
foolish to go out, miles from
any toilet, in case that was not
the last of it. It actually was
just about the last of it, but
last night I did do one tiny
poo.
It was just gone 1pm and
if I wasn't going out I may as
well have some lunch. I had two
Ciabatta rolls with ham, mustard
and salad leaves. Very
enjoyable. As usual I had a lie
down and did some reading for a
while. I then went into action
to do something I have been
meaning to do for a while. It
was to sweep most of the kitchen
floor to clear any crumbs that
the resident mouse might find.
I have been using my
trail camera to see it in action
- usually in the small hours. It
is interesting that it stays
well clear of the traps I have
put down for it. It is possible
that as I do my best to
eliminate all sources of food it
may have to visit the baited
traps. For the moment it seems
to only stay at floor level, and
without the trail cameras I
wouldn't even know it was still
there after I stopped seeing
droppings on the work surfaces.
I'll get it one day !!
I was about to write that
I was sure I had done more, but
couldn't remember what it was,
but I remember now. I also
emptied the recycling bin, and
the general waste bin. I had a
few small boxes that needed
breaking up and putting in the
green recycling bin, and I did
that too. At some point I had an
afternoon snack of "whipped
cheese", flavoured with chilli
and cherry tomatoes. I had never
seen anything like it before. I
ate it using rice crackers to
scoop it out of the pot. It was
nice, but not as wonderful as I
hoped, and I feel no desire to
buy another pot.....but that
doesn't mean I never will.
My dinner was a Creole
inspired chicken with rice ready
meal. It was quite nice, but it
did seem very small - smaller
than the container it was sold
in seemed to suggest. I followed
it up with a large Conference
pear, a red apple and a large
orange. That fruit top up
finally left me feeling full. I
had a fairly typical night of
watching TV, but there was an
extra attraction, or maybe
something to repel me - it was
the very first episode of Star
Trek: Deep Space Nine. It was an
awful episode. Thankfully it was
the only Star Trek that featured
a religion in a very big way -
the awful Bajoran religion with
it's prophets and corrupt
priests and stuff. I only like
the "evil" side - stories that
revolve around Quark the Ferengi
bar keeper.
Once again I was in bed
soon after 10pm, and once again
I was asleep soon after 10:30pm.
I think I slept well, but I
can't remember a single thing
about any dream I may have had,
although I can remember that I
did have quite a few dreams. I
know I still woke up every 2 or
3 hours for a pee, and most time
it seems I passed quite a lot of
pee - which was handy when I
came to weigh myself.
I got up almost on the
dot of 6am - a bit earlier than
usual. I went for a pee,
and thought I would do a poo,
but it was just wind. Maybe that
poo will happen sooner or later.
When I got on the scales I was
quite surprised to see I had
apparently lost 900gm ! That
made my weight low enough that
on my spreadsheet I recorded it
in dark green - a whole kilogram
lighter than light green !
There were too many
conflicting indicators to
predict what my blood glucose
was doing. It turned that that
it was not too bad, but not too
good - sort of a bit average
really. The Contour meter
read 8.4mmol/l, and that is
completely unremarkable. The
GlucoRX meter read a good
7.4mmol/l. The Sinocare meter
read 8.6mmol/l, and that
suggests the Contour meter was
probably about right, but the
lower GlucoRX meter reading was
some sort of fluke.
The original plan for
today was to try and do what I
was going to do yesterday - go
out to take pictures of trams
and investigate Wandle Park.
However there is now something
that will take precedence.
Sometime today I will get a
delivery of a big box of beers I
ordered on Sunday. The delivery
is being made by DHL, and
sometimes they deliver around
mid morning, but sometimes later
in the afternoon.
If I am lucky enough to
get a morning delivery than I
might still go out in the
afternoon, and if not I will
have to stay on high alert until
the beers are safely in my
hands. Unlike Amazon, but like
most other courier companies,
DHL do send out a notification
of a one hour slot when they
predict your order will be
delivered. I am no waiting on
that before considering anything
else.
