Yesterday
featured a few brief isolated
shower, but most of the day was dry,
and there were a few sunny spells,
but not many for when forecast for
the morning. There were more in the
evening. The afternoon temperature
reached 23° C.
This morning I woke up to some
light drizzle. The road seems to be
drying out now, and maybe the next
rain might be drizzle in the late
afternoon. Another thing I saw was
some sunshine at about 7am, but I
think it only lasted for a minute or
two. There may be sunny spells to end
the day. It is not going to be a warm
day, but it will be 20° C for most of
the afternoon. Tomorrow may see lots
of sunny spells, and the temperature
peaking at 26° C.
Yesterday was one of those days
that was OK, but a lot of that OK was
a sort of masochistic OK. The main
reason for this is that my legs seized
up after not being used since last
Saturday (if I ignore the 10 minutes I
took to see if the filming was
starting on Sunday).
I have to try and keep this
brief because I am due at the hospital
at 11:15am for my Echocardiogram. That
means leaving at about 10:45am for a
slow walk to the hospital, and time
for a good scrub under the shower
before I leave. Fortunately there is
not a lot to say about yesterday. The
only real significant thing to happen
was my usually regular Wednesday visit
to The Jolly Farmers pub for my usual
two pints of Guinness.
As usual, my walk to the pub
was faster than the walk home. On my
walk to the pub I made sure I paused
the tracker whenever I stopped for a
breather. The longest pause was when I
was at Ladywell station. Getting
there, with just a couple of brief
pauses, takes me up to my limit, and I
usually spend a couple of minutes
getting my breath back going up and
over the footbridge, and then up the
stairs back to road level.
On the walk home I was slowed
by having two pints of Guinness
swilling around in me, and maybe I was
still a bit tired after the walk to
the pub - despite resting in the pub
for almost 2 hours. The main reason
for the slower speed was that for some
reason I never seem to bother pausing
the tracker while I have a few short
breathers. Mostly these are when on
one of the footbridges crossing the
river. I like to stare at the river
passing by, and at any ducks on it.
My visit to the pub was
pleasant, but it was not one of the
better visits. I usually sit at the
other end of my favourite table to an
old gent called Tom. At first he was
sort of interesting, but now he is
repeating himself a lot. Much of what
he talks about is his medical
problems, and like one other I know, I
am sure a lot of his problems stem
from being confrontational with his
doctors. I seem to get on well with
most of my doctors, although the
Cardiology doctors at the hospital
have not covered themselves in glory
in my opinion.
After getting home from the pub
I had some lunch, and I had a nice
snooze. I didn't seem to feel very
dynamic at all for the rest of the
day. I seemed to be looking forward to
going to bed early, and after the
usual TV, some of which I only watched
while doing other stuff, I went to bed
at 9pm. At first I thought I had made
a mistake. I read a few pages from my
book, and tried for sleep. Nothing
happened, or appeared to, but it was
probably less than 15 minutes later
that I fell into a deep sleep.
I seemed to sleep quite well
last night, but once again I was
feeling a bit cool in the last hours
of sleep, and put the heater on low.
By the time I got up I was feeling too
hot ! I'm sure I had several dreams
last night, but only one left any
impression. In this dream I was at a
very big concert venue, and later in
the dream I found out it was in
Catford ! I am unsure what I was there
for. I think I was with Jodie, but I
seemed to leave her behind at about
the time a gig started.
I didn't have a ticket for the
gig, and although I had no idea who
the band was, I seemed to think I
would not like them, As the doors
opened, and a quite small crowd came
in, I went the other direction, but I
didn't leave the venue. I ended up in
a sort of back stage area. I had no
authority to be there, but I just
acted like I should be there, and no
one paid me any attention. I had a few
beers with some roadies - which I
think they may have paid for.
Then I wanted to wash my glass
out before going for a refill,
although I had no idea where to get a
refill. I ended up wandering into the
kitchen where I could at least wash my
glass out. Then, while looking for a
bar I found myself outside the venue,
and that is when I found it was in
Catford. I think I was heading for a
pub when I woke up needing a pee,
although not desperately.
I didn't think I passed that
much pee during the night, but it was
probably more than some nights. It was
enough to drop my weight 200gm since
yesterday morning. Maybe a small poo
before I weighed myself helped a bit.
Since having some breakfast - a single
small portion of instant noodles - I
have had another pee, and another poo,
but once I have had breakfast I don't
weight myself a second time (although
I will after I have had a shower, and
before I get dressed again).
My blood glucose readings are
being very stubborn. The average is
very slightly up, but most readings
were fairly good. The Contour meter
read 8.2mmol/l. That is slightly good.
The GlucoRX meter read a slightly
better 8.0mmol/l. A tiny bit less and
it would take it into the green on my
spreadsheet, and I would have called
it almost excellent. Once again it was
the Contour Plus meter that let me
down with another high reading. It
read 8.9mmol/l. That would be OK-ish
in the grand scheme of things, but
being so much higher than the other
two is annoying. I may see what brand
new batteries do for it, although
being very new, the batteries should
still be almost full.
I seem to be making good time,
and I'll soon be able to have a non
rushed shower, and maybe even a wet
shave before getting dressed ready to
walk to the hospital. I want to allow
plenty of time for the walk so I don't
have to resort to any TNG spray, and I
am not puffing and panting, and all
sweaty when I get to the hospital for
my echocardiogram. If they are not
running behind schedule (quite
probable), I could be out of there by
11:30pm, and home before midday.
In theory I should still have
plenty of time for a short rest once I
get home, and then time to go to
Tesco. I was thinking of going to
Aldi, but maybe I might do that
tomorrow when there is more time. Once
I am back from Tesco I will have a
small lunch, and sooner or later it
will be time for Jodie to arrive, and
maybe an hour later, Michael to arrive
too for another Thursday afternoon
beer tasting session. I must try and
moderate my drinking a bit so I can
get over it faster than the two days
of the last boozing session.
