Yesterday was very sunny, and did get fairly hot - 28° C outside, and 30° C in my bedroom ! Before 8pm the sky became very cloudy, and it was like the sun had already set. At about 8pm it started to rain, and I expected some thunder and lightning, but the rain didn't not get very heavy, and nor did it last long. Evidence in the way of some puddles strongly suggested it rain in the night.
  BBC_weather forecast
There may have been damp patches, and small puddles left from rain in the night, but today started with blue skies and sunshine. That sunshine is forecast to last all day, and it should push today's temperature up to 30° C. The forecast for tomorrow is very similar to that for today, but there are a few small changes. The most obvious being a maximum temperature of only 27° C. and 4pm may only see sunny spells. There is a small chance of rain, all under 17% at 11am, midday, and 5pm.

Yesterday was one of those days that can't really be described as enjoyable, but was still very satisfactory. That satisfaction ranged from going for a short walk, getting quite a few jobs done, and somehow managing to eat correctly enough to get some good health readings this morning.

I did have fantasies of going out somewhere yesterday, but the closest I came to that was having a good wash after I had finished writing, and finishing my post writing rest. When I wrote "going out somewhere" I really meant some sort of long distance journey/walk. I did in fact go to the station to pick up a copy of The Metro, and try my new Adidas trainers out.

                                      trainers
For a first time on, they were not bad. The sole is only moderately flexible, and the upper is probably not actually leather, but I get the impression it will stretch like leather. I think that once worn in they could be very comfortable. The walk to and from the station did not cause and damage to my feet, although they were not 100% comfortable, but then again, it is rare any shoe is 100% comfortable.

                                      707 train
I missed one Hayes (Kent) bound train, and the next was delayed because of trespassers on the line. It was not really a train spotting outing, but I was there at the right time to get a snap of 707014. It was not a train I needed for my spreadsheet of trains photographed, but it was there, and so I took a photo. There are only 30 class 707 trains, and I have photos of them all, and almost half of them in their original red SouthWest Railway livery. (SWR didn't like them and so fobbed them off on Southeastern).

A very low winter sun would have made this picture of a pothole even more stark. If I could have taken a 3D picture the dip in the road would be very obvious. To my untrained eye it looks like the road is subsiding, and that is unsurprising because once what was just a lightly used side road now has a very regular diet of double decker buses passing down it. Two big dips have been filled in, but the road continues to subside. On the right of the older patch there is evidence of the road surface crumbling away.
short walk

It is only a 0.637 mile walk to and from the station, but that is over twice the distance I can do without feeling like, or actually needing a short break to get my breath back (although it is a mixture of tired legs, a very slight shortage of breath, and a feeling like fatigue). I know I walked a bit slower on the way home, and I definitely stopped to take a picture of my new trainers without pausing the tracker. The average speed there and back was 2.485 mph, which isn't bad for me these days. I am now semi annoyed I didn't take a screenshot when I got to the station because I think I was walking at almost 3 mph, and maybe even 3.1mph. That is more like I used to be able to keep up for longer distances before my heart valve started giving trouble.

It was gone midday when I got home, and the first thing I did was to have a light, but not really healthy lunch. The two small packets of crisps were not idea, but usually semi safe. The small quantity of ice cream I was going to have would have been fairly safe, but I didn't have a small quantity. I was feeling hot, and enjoying the ice cream so much that I had twice as much as I intended, and finished the whole pot. I expected that to give a lot of trouble, but this morning it seemed to have the opposite effect.

After lunch I laid on my bed to read for a while. It was not long until my eyes started to close. I put the book down and had a snooze. I am unsure how long I snoozed for, but I suspect it may have been for over an hour. When I woke up again I decided I must do something. I started by reading a few technology news items from https://www.theregister.com/. After a while some guilt set in, and I decided to do something more productive.

A more productive thing was to get back to the photos I had taken at Petts Wood Calling. There were three bands to sort out, and along the way I accumulated a few more pictures for a selection of pictures taken away from the stage, and off various sights and people. The bands were Shenanigans, Ransom and Ferrets - The Punk Band. I was looking forward to the latter two in particular.

While doing the selecting and photo editing I stopped for the 6 O'clock news, dinner (a chicken salad) and some TV. The latter included some Star Trek, and then some of have I got News For You. I was often photo editing in the commercial breaks, and I abandoned have I Got News For You because it was not a good edition. I managed to finish all my photo editing before I went to bed, but I didn't find time to make some smaller sample pictures to show here, but if nothing much happens today I may show some of the better picture tomorrow.

After I went to bed I read for a while, and then, as far as I can remember, I just turned over and went straight to sleep. It was hot in my bedroom last night, and I had the fan on low blowing over me while I slept. I turned the fan off after getting up for my second pee of the night. Doing that meant I had something definite to remember, but I only have hazy memories of other times getting up for pee in the night. Judging by my weight before and after sleeping it seems I may have got up to pee more than I thought.

It was about two past 6am when I got up this morning. I awoke from a dream. It is almost impossible to describe the dream because it seemed to be made from tiny fragments with almost no continuity between them. The only constant was a sheet of A4 paper with some printing on it. I remember I had been asked by my boss to deliver it to a friend of his in a shop/warehouse half a mile away. The printing on the paper made little sense, and it was getting hard to read after being crumpled up in my trouser pocket while I made my way to the address my boss had given me. When I arrived I seemed to have no idea who I was supposed to give the paper to. It seemed like an ideal time to wake up.

Once I was out of bed I went to the toilet. I didn't seem to do a very big pee, and while I was feeling hints of constipation, nothing moved on that front (although a little did move during writing about 3 paragraphs back). I was not expecting to see anything but a semi large weight gain this morning, and so seeing a loss off 100gm was a pleasant surprise - even if quite a small amount).

Even more surprising was my blood glucose. Not only had I eaten a lot of ice cream early in the afternoon, but after my chicken salad for dinner I had a dessert of two fairly sweet and ripe pears. The Contour meter read 7.2mmol/l, and that is very good. The GlucoRX meter read a little higher, but 7.5mmol/l was spot on my current target. Even the Contour Plus meter was in the game with a reading of 7.7mmol/l. The new meter, the GlucoFix read a very good 7.3mmol/l. Excluding the new meter because that is not included in averages at  the moment, I got an average of 7.47mmol/l, and that is a nice drop from 8.13mmol/l yesterday.

I had been thinking along the lines of walking to Ladywell and back to today as a minimum. That now seems unlikely (although it still might be possible) because I realise that my top priority is to get more shopping from Tesco. The urgency is because I won't be able to go tomorrow, although I probably could the day after tomorrow. Top of my shopping list will be some beef burgers, and I have a fancy for some kippers - maybe for dinner tonight. I haven't had kippers for ages !

I am unsure what I will do for the rest of the day, but a few things come to mind. Shrinking a few of yesterday's photo to fit on these small pages would be a good idea. The dining room could do with a hoovering (in fact it needs it desperately). Another thing I ought to do is some gardening. It won't be typical gardening, and will be more strimming a path through the stinging nettles so I can get to the washing line so I can dry stuff in hot sunshine.
