My
Electronic Diary For July 2025 |
Thursday 31st July 2025 |
08:47 BST
Yesterday was always dull,
but it was often a sort of bright dullness. Having
said that, I can't recall a single ray of sunshine.
Rain fell late in the evening, even though the
forecast predicted a 0% chance of rain. The afternoon
did get slightly warm with the temperature hitting 24°
C.
We have already had some torrential rain, but
that stopped an hour or two ago, and as I write this it
seems fairly bright outside, but like yesterday not a
single ray of sunshine has been seen, and probably won't
be seen any time today - except for maybe 8pm, but even
that shows a 17% chance of rain. The temperature is
going to be a bit cool today with only 21° C forecast.
It is possible that there could be some sunny spells
tomorrow, although they seem more likely from early
evening. It should stay mostly dry, and dull, and the
maximum temperature is currently shown as 21° C again.![]() Yesterday started in what felt like a mad rush, but in retrospect it was semi relaxed. Lots of things happened yesterday, and most were good and/or enjoyable, and one thing was some good news. To some that one good bit of news may sound like bad news. I shall explain that later. I do my best to describe all these things, and illustrate some of my day with photos (from last Sunday), plus the usual notes about last night and this morning, in my complete archived pages for today. |
Wednesday 30th July 2025 |
08:07 BST
Yesterday was generally
dull, but it was dry...I think. Maybe I do have a hazy
memory of a light shower sometime during the day. The
temperature rose to just 20° C, and it did feel a bit
cool from time to time.
There has already been a light shower this
morning that is not shown on the forecast (above). From
2pm there is a 0% chance of rain forecast, but before
that that figure is not 0%, but as high as 19% for some
hours. Apart from maybe 8pm, there would seem to be no
chance of seeing any sunshine today, but the temperature
could reach 24° C. Tomorrow may be a rather wet day, and
because it is a BBC forecast there are thunderstorms
shown from 11am to 7pm. Few if any are likely to happen,
it's just that the BBC love their thunderstorms. Many
might even disappear in later revisions to the forecast.
It will be another cool day with the temperature only
reaching 21° C, but even that may change in later
revisions.![]() Yesterday was another busy day, and this morning is going to be a busy morning. Yesterday it was mostly photo editing, and today it will be other stuff. Most important will be waiting for a call from my doctor - possibly at 11:40am, but it could be later. Yesterday is described with a selection of pictures taken at Chatt Fest last Saturday, plus there are notes about last night, and this morning, and all can be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Tuesday 29th July 2025 |
08:27 BST
The forecast for yesterday
said it would mainly be a bright day with sunshine of
sunny spells. I noted that it started off sunny
yesterday, and I think most of yesterday was probably
bright, but I didn't go out, and didn't pay that much
attention to the outside world. The afternoon
temperature was forecast to rise to 24° C, and that
was probably right.
The BBC forecast for today says the day would
start with sunny spells. The Met Office forecast said
there would be a couple of hours of light rain this
morning. I have seen no evidence of rain, and no
evidence of sunny spells. It is cloudy right now, but
the clouds don't look like they will drop any rain. I
thin most, if not all of today will be dull, and not
very warm. Just 20° C is forecast. Tomorrow may be
generally dull with a chance of rain, but it could be a
bit warmer with a few hours at 23° C. After all those
wonderful hot and sunny days we had weeks ago, this so
called bit of summer is looking almost autumnal.![]() Yesterday was a slightly tedious day. I didn't do it non stop, but I spent a long time going through some of my photos taken at Chatt Fest, and editing the best I could find. I seemed to take many terrible photos, and my editing skills seem to take a long time to implement now. My full day is part described, and includes a selection of photos, plus some notes about my night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Monday 28th July 2025 |
08:32 BST
Yesterday featured a few
showers, although all were light enough to almost
ignore (although my camera got quite a splattering). I
think there were a couple of brief sunny spells in the
morning, and a few much later in the afternoon. Out in
the fresh air the humidity seemed to be fairly low,
and generally it felt like a mostly OK sort of day
(although lots of sunshine would obviously improve
it). The afternoon was forecast to reach 21° C, but I
suspect it was probably higher.
It is certainly sunny as I write this, and with a
lot of blue sky visible, sunshine or sunny spells could
continue for a long time. The forecast says they will
last all day. The temperature may peak at 24° C for
maybe a full hour. Tomorrow may see the return of mostly
light rain or drizzle in the afternoon, although the
morning may start bright. It may be a struggle for the
temperature to reach a peak of just 20° C. In the rain,
under a dull sky, it could feel rather cool.![]() Yesterday was not as tiring as the day before, although it was still a bit tiring, and once again I left a bit early. Once again leaving a bit early was probably the right thing to do. One difference was that Chatt Fest finishes at 8pm on the Sunday, and I was there for long enough to watch some of every band. There are a couple of pictures from Saturday, and more details about my day yesterday, and my night and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Sunday 27th July 2025 |
08:15 BST
Yesterday's weather was
similar to the forecast, except... There were no
sunny spells that I remember in the morning. The
forecast light rain only lasted less than one hour
instead of 2 hours, and it was probably a couple of
hours earlier than forecast. There were sunny spells
late in the afternoon. The temperature prediction of
23° C was about right, but it felt very humid,
(even if the forecast said it would not be high) and
that sometimes made it feel warmer.
As I write this there is a semi thin layer of
cloud with a few very small bits of blue visible in it.
We may be lucky enough to catch a brief glimpse of the
sun, but generally it will be a grey day. There is a
small chance of rain from late afternoon, but with the
highest chance shown as just 18% it is likely to stay
dry. It will also be fairly cool with just 21° C
expected. Tomorrow may start off with sunshine,
and then sunny spells for the rest of the day. The
maximum temperature may be just 23° C. From midday the
humidity is shown as fairly low, and together with the
breeze it might feel more comfortable even if a little
cool.![]() I had a very tiring day yesterday, but it was still a mostly pleasant day. I managed 6 hours at Chatt Fest, and then I had to give up and go home again. It was a relief to get home and have some dinner after only eating just 2 ginger biscuits since my early breakfast. The long version of yesterday, but not long enough for a band by band account of my day out, plus notes about my night, and this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Saturday 26th July 2025 |
06:53 BST
Yesterday's weather started
off with some sunny spells, but there were a few dull
hours at the start of the afternoon. It was once the
dullness passed that we had very pleasant weather. It
became bright and sunny, and it was also noce and warm
with the temperature reaching at least 25° C.
It seems rather cloudy at the moment, and so no
sunny spells as per the forecast. Although the forecast
shows it as dull until 6pm, I would npt be surprised if
there were no sunny spells before that. 4 and 5pm may
feature some light rain - which will be not ideal when I
am out in the open ! It is going to be a fairly cool day
with the temperature only reaching 23° C. Tomorrow might
start with sunshine or sunny spells, but the afternoon
may be quite dull, but dry, and quite cool at no more
than 22° C.![]() I had intended yesterday to be a fairly restful day after two days with some walking - some of it semi fast walking (compared to my recent maximums). It was not as restful as intended for a variety of reasons. I did two jobs that took a bit of effort. My day, night, and this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Friday 25th July 2025 |
08:56 BST
Yesterday was dry until mid
afternoon. During the morning there were also a few
very brief sunny spells. It mostly felt OK. The
afternoon seemed to feel cooler despite the
temperature not really changing. It was probably just
the darker skies looking colder. The afternoon rain
was only shown as drizzle on the forecast, but some of
it was a little heavier than light rain. Apart from
one brief drop inn the temperature at 4pm (if it
actually happened) the afternoon temperature was
forecast to be 20° C, and I think that was about
right.
It seems we have now jumped from April to May
weather. This morning is rather cool, but it is sunny.
The sky looks mostly clear and it has been sunny rather
than just sunny spells. This afternoon is forecast to be
a bit dull, but the temperature should climb to a more
July appropriate 25° C. There may even be more sunny
spells from late afternoon. Tomorrow, which is a rather
important day*, should be dry, but it won't be as warm
as today, and most of it will be dull. The afternoon
temperature may only reach 23° C.![]() * Tomorrow and Sunday are when Chatt Fest takes place - two afternoon to evening music sessions from assorted bands, and all in aid of charity. Yesterday was almost a very good day. I enjoyed walking through the park to get to the hospital for my echocardiogram, and even though it was not much nearer than the pub, I seemed to do it a lot faster than intended. The other end of the day was fairly good, but sometimes tedious. I've described as much of yesterday as I can, plus added the usual notes about sleeping, and this morning, all in my complete archived page for today. |
Thursday 24th July 2025 |
07:16 BST
Yesterday featured a few
brief isolated shower, but most of the day was dry,
and there were a few sunny spells, but not many for
when forecast for the morning. There were more in the
evening. The afternoon temperature reached 23° C.
This morning I woke up to some light drizzle. The
road seems to be drying out now, and maybe the next rain
might be drizzle in the late afternoon. Another thing I
saw was some sunshine at about 7am, but I think it only
lasted for a minute or two. There may be sunny spells to
end the day. It is not going to be a warm day, but it
will be 20° C for most of the afternoon. Tomorrow may
see lots of sunny spells, and the temperature peaking at
26° C.![]() Yesterday was one of those days that was OK, but a lot of that OK was a sort of masochistic OK. The main reason for this is that my legs seized up after not being used since last Saturday (if I ignore the 10 minutes I took to see if the filming was starting on Sunday). Today I have kept things short, but there is a brief description of my day, and some longer notes about my night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Wednesday 23rd July 2025 |
07:59 BST
The problem with yesterday's
weather was that it was so variable, and
unpredictable. The weather forecast was no help in
deciding if one hour would feature rain or sunshine.
It could be either, and was usually both. A lot of the
time it seemed OK, and then it would suddenly rain for
no obvious reason. Then 10 minutes later the sun might
come out for a minute or two, and for that minute or
two it seemed like it might last long enough to go
shopping, as a for instance. The only two facts about
yesterday's weather was that the atmospheric pressure
was slowly climbing, and suggesting better weather was
on it's way, and the afternoon temperature of 22° C
matched the forecast.
My weather station barometer says it is 1012mb,
and the icon next to it is a yellow sun. It suggests
that today may be a nice day. The BBC forecast says the
first three hours of today would feature rain. It is dry
as a bone outside, although it is rather cloudy. Later
on it shows some sunny spells. The next chance of rain
may be 8pm, although it does show a low chance of rain
for almost every hour today. The temperature may briefly
peak at 23° C today. Tomorrow may start with a few sunny
spells, but most of the day may be dull. Light rain is
forecast for 3 hours from 2pm, and the temperature may
only reach 21° C. Just recently it seems we have seen
the last of summer, and are now in mid autumn.![]() I spent the first half of yesterday debating what to do. In the end I gave up and just decided the weather was far too variable, and tending towards the bad side, to even consider doing anything but staying in, and being mostly bored. I did end up doing |
Tuesday 22nd July 2025 |
09:07 BST
Once again, the weather
forecast for yesterday didn't really match reality.
There were some short sunny spells in the morning when
there was supposed to be rain. There were a few
showers in the morning, and a few in the early
afternoon. A couple of them were semi heavy, but most
were over in under 10 minutes. None of the
thunderstorms happened when predicted, but we did have
some peals of thunder just before 6pm. None seemed to
involve any visible flash of lightning, and so I
assume they were some distance away. Just after the
last we did get one extra heavy downpour from a sky
thst didn't seem to have any nasty looking clouds (I
expect it was a single black cloud directly a my house
where I couldn't see it. An hour later and we had
sunshine. The forecast said a maximum of 20° C, and
that was probably about right.
![]() ![]() Today's forecast shows sunny spells for 7am. I am not aware of any then. It also shows some rain at 11am, and then from 1pm to 3pm. The Met Office forecast also said the day should have started with 2 hours of sunny spells, but I didn't see those either. It doesn't show and rain, but does admit that there could be a 30% chance of rain a few times during the day. It just shows the whole day (after 9am) as being overcast with grey skies. It agrees with the BBC forecast, above, that this afternoon should reach 22° C. Tomorrow there is a small chance of rain in the morning, and for late afternoon, but mostly it may be dull, although sunny spells are forecast from 11am to 1pm. Still on the subject of weather, my weather stations are saying we should be getting sunshine. The pressure was rising at 7:04pm yesterday, and was already up to 1001mb. This morning it said 1007mb. One of my other weather stations shows no more than an up or down arrow for the pressure, and it was pointing up this morning. This should mean good weather on it's way. The weather station display on the left shows cloud, but with nothing falling from it, and it shows a nice yellow sun. The other weather station display is only in black and white, but it was showing a big sun symbol. I think it can show the sun peeping out from behind a cloud, but this morning it was just the sun. Yesterday was a day when the threat of really lousy weather made me want to stay in, despite some fanciful ideas that I might go out for a few train rides (with Canon 660D camera ready to shoot any trains I saw). I did not go out, and I didn't do much, but I did at least one useful thing. Anything worth describing about my day, plus some notes about my night, and this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Monday 21st July 2025 |
08:55 BST
Once again, the weather
forecast for yesterday looked terrible, but reality
came to the rescue. There were definitely no thundery
showers around here, but there were a few ordinary
showers, and rather less than predicted. There were
quite a few sunny spells in the afternoon, and then
even more sunshine from late afternoon. The day felt a
little less sticky than recent days, and with a high
of only 20° C, and some wind, it often felt too chilly
to leave a window open (although sometimes it did feel
nice for a short while).
Today's forecast looks a lot like yesterday, and
so will it be a nicer day than forecast ? We have
already had some sunny spells, albeit not lasting that
long, but we have also had some showers or generally
light rain. I think the warnings of thunderstorms may
come to nothing again, but I'm not sure it is a chance
worth taking. Once again the temperature will only rise
to 20° C. Tomorrow morning is shown as being dull, and
the afternoon drizzly. The temperature may briefly touch
22° C.![]() Yesterday was a rather a mixed sort of day. Two things that were supposed to happen, didn't, although the second one was more my fault than anything else. It all made for a mostly boring day, and a little bit depressing too. One the other hand, the sunny spells when the forecast said it should be raining, and even a thunderstorms, were quite uplifting. The thin details of my day yesterday, plus some notes about my night and thought about morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Sunday 20th July 2025 |
08:30 BST
It was a very gloomy
forecast for yesterday, except when the lightning,
which didn't happen around here, brightened up the
sky. The morning was most definitely wet, but by 10am,
or thereabouts, the rain was a lot lighter, and
sometime after midday it had all but stopped. Not even
a very distant peal of thunder was heard. (The
forecast said thunderstorms between 11am and 4pm). A
lot of the afternoon featured some sunny spells, and
they seemed to get longer as the hours passed. The
temperature was only supposed to rise to 22° C, and
that was probably right, but the very high humidity
made it a very sweaty sort of day (and night).
I think there might have been some semi-heavy
rain in the small hours of this morning, but I think
what I have seen in the last hour or two was no worse
than drizzle, and that not all the time. Once again
thunderstorms are forecast for this morning, but I have
doubts a single prediction will become true. There may
be just light rain or drizzle until 4pm when the sun may
break through for some sunny spells, and from 6pm, full
sunshine. The maximum temperature today is forecast to
be just 20° C, but all my outdoor thermometers say it is
already 20° C, and so it could be higher later. Once
again the humidity is very high, and so even 20° C could
still be very sticky. Tomorrow may also peak at 20° C,
and the day may see another mix of (possibly imaginary)
thunderstorms, drizzle, light, and heavy rain. Once
again it could be a very humid day, with the humidity
very high in the morning. ![]() Yesterday was a very good day, although like most good things, it did have it's consequences. The odd thing is that one consequence was actually good, but the worst was not that bad after all. The oddest thing about yesterday it was a very rare day (these days) when I went for two walks in the one day. My day is described with pictures and video, along with notes about my night and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Saturday 19th July 2025 |
07:23 BST
After a grey start, which
was not shown in any forecast, yesterday did brighten
up around 9 or 10am. From then on we had a mix of
sunny spells and sunshine. It should have been a good
day, but there were still some very grey clouds to be
seen almost all day, and then there was the humidity.
It was a very sweaty day, and at least for me, it said
stay in, stay cool, and don't do much. As well as the
humidity, it did get very warm with 28° C by mid
afternoon.
The change happened in the early hours of this
morning. Rain was forecast to start at 2 or 3am, and in
one version of the forecast (the BBC's of course) a
thunderstorm was forecast for 4am. I doubt if I would
have slept through it, and so I don't think it happened.
I am not sure I would describe this morning's rain as
heavy, as per the forecast, but it is definitely
persistent. At the moment it is somewhere between heavy
and light rain. The so called heavy rain should finish
at 10am when the thunderstorms (may) start. Of course
they will usually be with very heavy rain. I think the
current forecast just shows the worst that could happen
rather than what will happen. One thing that seems
almost certain is an early evening high of 22° C.....
now shown as just 21° C My thermometers say it is
already 20° C. Tomorrow replaces the heavy rain with
light rain, and there may only be two hours of
thunderstorms. Once again the temperature will peak at
21° C. ![]() In one respect, that being controlling my food intake rather well, yesterday was a good day. In most other respects it was a mix of bland, boring, and generally not much good. In many ways it could be described as a day of missed opportunities. On the other hand I suppose I felt fairly good, as in not depressed, for most of the day. Most of my day, night, and a few things about this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Friday 18th July 2025 |
08:42 BST
Most of yesterday was quite
dull, but there were times when it seemed the sun
might make it through a crack in the clouds. Sadly
not, although a bit of rain leaked from those clouds.
I think I remember two showers - one light, and the
other very light. The temperature slowly climbed to
26° C, and it seemed to be a hot and sticky night.
Even the latest revision to the weather forecast
still shows it should be sunny now, but the sky remains
grey, a semi light, semi dark grey. Since putting
the full stop at the end of the last sentence, the sun
has come out ! There still seems to be a lot of cloud to
the east, and so it may not stay out long. Another error
in the forecast is that it is a couple of degrees warmer
than forecast as I write this. Today should stay dry,
although it might rain at midnight, and the temperature
should peak at 28° C, and possibly higher. Tomorrow is
where it gets interesting, The day may start with heavy
rain, and then from 11am until 5pm there could be
thundery showers. That will hold the temperature down to
just 23° C, but the last three hours of daylight may
feature full sunshine !![]() Yesterday should probably be judged as a bad day, but some bits of the day were quite good. I quite enjoyed some boozing, and it was the consequences of that which was responsible for yesterday being a bad day ! Oh well, it could have been worse. It could have been a boring day. My day is described in as full as I can remember it. There is quite a bit about the terrible night I had, and a few notes about this morning in my complete archived page for today. |
Thursday 17th July 2025 |
07:53 BST
It was a nice day yesterday.
Most of the day only saw sunny spells, but most sunny
spells were very long, and the dull bits between them
very short. The temperature rose to 25° C, but a
somnetimes fairly strong breeze made it feel fresher.
Today may peak at 26° C, but only for two hours,
and one of those hours might feature rain. Apart from
late evening, it is forecast to be a very dull day. On
the other hand, I can see some small bits of blue among
the grey clouds, so we may get an occasional short sunny
spell sometime. In the latest revision to the forecast
there is now a thunderstorm predicted for 7pm, although
with only a 17% chance of rain predicted it seems more
likely it will be dry. There is a small chance of rain
later tomorrow afternoon, but most of tomorrow should
feature at least sunny spells, and the temperature
should reach 28° C, but maybe only for a single hour.
After tomorrow we could be facing three days of
thunderstorms. No doubt that is when the hosepipe ban
for the area will be announced.![]() There were a few minor negative things about yesterday, but generally it was one of my better days. It was all due to forward planning, and then making up for when the initial plan failed. These things, and more will be revealed and explained in my writings for today. All 2,928 words I have written about today, last night, and this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Wednesday 16th July 2025 |
07:33 BST
Yesterday's weather forecast
was another that did not agree with reality. Some bits
were right. That day did start with bright sunshine,
but it seemed to go on longer than forecast. At midday
we had a fair sized shower when no rain was forecast.
The forecast rain for later didn't seem to happen,
except for one very brief, very light fall of rain
around 5pm. I can't remember the exact time because it
was so insignificant that I almost didn't notice it. I
seem to recall that it was a bright, and often sunny
evening. The temperature forecast of 21° Cfor the
afternoon was about right.
One thing I didn't see on any forecast was rain
at about 4am this morning. It was heavy enough to hear
through the closed window and curtains. This morning has
started off bright and sunny, although I can see a lot
of cloud in the sky. Today may feature mostly
sunny spells, and it should stay dry all day long. The
afternoon temperature should reach 25° C from mid
afternoon until almost mid evening. The beginning and
end of tomorrow may feature sunny spells, but much of
the day will be dull with a small chance of rain,
although no actual rain is shown. It will be warmer than
today with 27° C expected.![]() I think I felt physically OK yesterday, but, with the benefit of hindsight, the with the weather turning dull by the time I had finished, I must have started to feel depressed. Maybe not depressed, but drained of enthusiasm - unless that is the same thing. It means I have very little to write about yesterday. I still managed to write 1,449 words about yesterday, last night, and this morning, and they can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Tuesday 15th July 2025 |
08:34 BST
There was a small chance of
rain yesterday, mostly in the afternoon. No rain was
shown on the forecast, and no rain fell in reality. It
was generally a sunny day, although there were some
dull times during the morning. The temperature rose to
25° C, but it never felt very hot at any time.
There is a choice of forecasts for today. The
simplest is the met office which says from midday to
sunset it ill be overcast. The BBC forecast says some
hours will be dull, and some might feature light rain or
drizzle. Oddly enough, both forecasters show a similar
range of the chance of rain. It is just that the BBC are
pessimistic, and the Met Office are optimistic today.
Both forecasters say it will be a cool day with only 21°
C expected. As I write this the full sunshine that
started the day seems to be lasting longer than
forecast, although there are quite a few, mostly fluffy,
clouds in the sky at the moment. Tomorrow should/might
feature sunny spells all day long, and after a cool
start, 16° C, like this morning, the temperature should
rise to 25° C.![]() The day before yesterday I said I was back to normal, but yesterday I had some doubts about that. Until I stepped out of my front door I felt like I was going to suffer negative reactions. Fortunately that was not the case, and after a while it seemed like I could have a wholesome day. My reality was not quite the same. How my day actually worked out, what my dreams were stuck on, and some thoughts this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Monday 14th July 2025 |
08:38 BST
Yesterday felt cooler, but
that might have just been me because my thermometers
agreed with the forecast of 28° C, and that was the
same as the day before. Apart from getting the
temperature right, the forecast got much else wrong.
The morning was lightly overcast, at least enough to
make the day slightly dim, and completer hide the sun.
It was probably midday before the sun appeared. It
started with a couple of hours of sunny spells, and
after that the sun was out most of the time.
One thing that didn't appear in any forecast I
saw, was that we had some light rain at 4am this
morning. It was enough to make the road look thoroughly
wet. It may have been before 6am when sunny spells
started, and the forecast says we should still be having
sunny spells. The current one seems to be going on a
very long time... I think the temperature dipped several
degrees below the quoted starting figure of 19° C. It
definitely seemed quite cold in the night prior to 4am,
and the start of the rain. Today only 25° C, and so it
should be less sweaty and sticky today. There are quite
a few times on the forecast where no rain is shown, but
several hours carry low chances of rain, and 2pm shows a
20% chance of rain. That is high enough that maybe we
will see passing shower. It is certain there will be
rain after midday tomorrow, although the morning should
be bright with sunny spells. Only 20° C is expected, and
that will probably feel quite cool after some the recent
highs of 30° C and more.![]() I seemed to be almost back to normal yesterday - except for one thing. It was like I was moving in slow motion. Many hours would pass by with no real feeling of passing time. It was a surprise to me that I managed to get everything, including me, ready for a beer tasting session in the afternoon with Jodie. Yesterday is more fully described along with last night, and this morning, and it can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Sunday 13th July 2025 |
09:00 BST
Yesterday was another day
where it was almost sunny all day long. The
temperature rose to 28° C, but it didn't feel as
sticky as recent days.
Even the latest revision to the forecast for
today's weather says it should be full sunshine as I
type this. When I look out the window I see a milky grey
sky, and not a hint of sunshine. Oddly enough, the
temperature forecast is about right. It has just reached
20° C. At 6am it was just 16° C and feeling very fresh.
Maybe we will get the full sunshine forecast soon, or
maybe it will only be an early start to the sunny spells
forecast for the afternoon. The temperature should rise
to 28° C - the same as yesterday. Tomorrow may see more
sunny spells than full sunshine, and the temperature may
only rise as high as 26° C. There is a small, 10 to 14%
chance of rain tomorrow afternoon. ![]() Yesterday was a good day, although not specially productive. The really good thing about was that I seemed to have recovered from my health difficulties the day before. I felt slightly wary, but I probably felt very close to normal, if not actually normal for much of the day. My day, night and this morning, is all described with the usual collection of typos, missing or wrong words, etc, in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was another day
where it was sunny all day long. The temperature rose
to 30° C, and possibly a little higher. It was a
sticky day, but not that sticky, and it was mostly
very pleasant - or would have been if I was not
suffering from a medical problem.
Today is going to be almost a repeat of yesterday
with bright sunshine all day, but the temperature
may only peak as high as 28° C. Tomorrow may be
different because most of the day will only feature
sunny spells, but the temperature will still reach 28° C
for a couple of hours. Nothing is shown on the forecast,
but I am sure that on TV they said that a shower might
be possible today or tomorrow (or maybe it was even the
day after tomorrow).![]() Yesterday was not a good day. In fact it was quite a bad day. There were times when I wondered if a visit to A&E might be prudent. Fortunately by taking care, keeping as cool as possible (which was not easy) and using what medication I had, kept me from taking that extra step. Today's electronic diary is all about me and how I was feeling from hour to hour. I didn't really do anything except try and look after myself. I still needed to write 2,004 words to describe yesterday, last night and this morning. All those words can be read in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was sunny all day
long, and that pushed up the temperature to 30° C.
Maybe the humidity was low because it didn't seem to
feel unpleasantly hot, although it did mean a sticky
night.
Today is going to be a repeat of yesterday with
bright sunshine all day, and the temperature peaking at
30° C for most of the afternoon. Once again it is likely
to be a sticky night. Tomorrow could be very similar,
but only 29° C is forecast. ![]() Yesterday started as a good day. I seemed to feel good, even if my weight was still creeping up. It was last night when everything went wrong. That was a shame because it spoiled a good day. I am not sure that the legacy of last night is over yet. Some of my full piece about yesterday, last night, and this morning, might read like medical notes, but there is other stuff, and it can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was one of
those currently frequent days where the essence of the
weather forecast was right, but the fine details
wrong. I must admit it is hard to remember exactly
every hour of the day, but I think some hours of
sunshine, were actually sunny spells, and some hours
of sunny spells were actually full sunshine. It was
fairly warm though, and the afternoon temperature
easily rose to 23° C, and possibly higher.
This morning has started sunny, but it also
started off quite cool. However, the temperature has
already risen to 19° C. Much of today will feature sunny
spells, although just a couple of hours (according to
the latest revision) at the start of the afternoon may
be light grey. It may take until 6pm, but the
temperature today should reach 26° C. It should be a
milder night tonight, and then a day of non stop
sunshine should get tomorrow up to 29° C - the start of
another heatwave.![]() Before describing most of yesterday I feel I want to finish a small part of the story of yesterday. I wrote how I had tried to remove a spider from my bathroom, and got bitten by it in the process. After the spider escaped I did not see it again until about 8pm last night. It had resumed it's preference of lurking where the wall and ceiling meet. I'm afraid that after being bitten in the morning I was not going to mess around. Using what was once used as a curtain rod, I squished the little blighter from about 5ft away from those venom dripping fangs (probably). ![]() Apart from that spider trouble mentioned above, yesterday was a mostly quiet day. I thought I wanted to go out, but I never did. I did do a few useful things, but mostly it was all about eating and resting. I probably ate too much, but it seems like it was all of the right stuff. The rest of yesterday, with notes about my night, and also this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday started off dull
and wet - as forecast - but it seemed to finish
raining a bit earlier, and there was some sunny spells
before 11am when they wee forecast to start. There
were supposed to be no sunny spells between 1pm and
5pm, and I do recall there were some dull periods, but
I am sure I can also remember some sunny periods. From
later afternoon/early evening there was definitely
more sunshine until sunset. The temperature was
supposed to peak very briefly at 21° C, it might have
been for longer, or maybe it was a bit higher.
There was rain forecast for the night, but a lot
of the time the sky must have been clear because this
morning started of almost cold at just 13° C (that is
cold with reference to what we would expect - in winter
it would be like a heatwave). The forecast says full
sunshine until 9am, but there are a few clouds in the
sky, and one might blot out he sun for a while. From
10am only sunny spells are forecast, but even those are
supposed to warm the day up to a peak of 23° C. From 5pm
until sunset there could be full sunshine. It looks to
be another clear night and tomorrow may start cool again
at 14° C. It may also start with full sunshine, but much
of the day may actually be quite dull. Even so, the
temperature may rise to 25° C. Like today, it should be
a dry day.![]() Yesterday I met a wonderful young woman who wants to mend my broken heart. Unfortunately it is not the start of a great romance. The woman is a doctor, and it is my physical heart that (probably) needs some repair, or more accurately, probably some minor arteries to it need unblocking. All the details I can remember about yesterday, plus some notes about my sleep (a poor sleep) and this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today. |

07:30 BST
The weather was a bit
complex yesterday. It was a bit like Eric Morecambe
saying he played
all the right notes, but not necessarily in the
right order. The day started as forecast - grey
and miserable. That was supposed to be followed by
thunderstorms from 10am. That was later revised to
midday, and the first clap of thunder was around 2 or
even 3pm. The very heavy rain associated with a
thunderstorm came about 20 minutes later as the clouds
were breaking up. All flashes and claps of thunder
seemed to be coming from at least several miles away
to to the south. The heavy rain was followed by some
lighter rain, and then the sun started to break
through. At first there were sunny spells lasting as
little as a single minute. Later on they became more
substantial. Through all that the temperature managed
to reach 21° C.
This morning started with some rain, but it is
either so light that it is hard to see, or it has
stopped. Towards the west it looks like it is
brightening up a bit. It is a shame it isn't to the east
where the sun is ! If, and it is a very big if, the
forecast contains any truth, by 10am the rain will be no
more than some drizzle, and by 11am we could be having a
few sunny spells. It will be dull again for most of the
afternoon, but from 5pm the sunny spells may return, and
the last two hours of daylight could be full sunshine.
For all that, the highest temperature may still be only
21° C, and that for one single hour at 6pm. This morning
started off a bit chilly at just 14° C, and thanks to
clear skies tonight, tomorrow may start off even colder
at just 13° C, but strong sunshine should start to warm
things up quite quickly. Apart from the first few hours
of the afternoon, when only sunny spells are forecast,
the whole day should see strong sunshine, and the
temperature should reach 23° C. That starts the slow
build up to another heatwave with temperatures of 30° C
of more in a few more days time.![]() Yesterday was one of those days when unexpected things happened. The first unexpected thing happened just after I finished writing. It was a long phone call from a friend. Much of it was semi boring - stuff about mobile phone signal strengths, with my friend quoting where all the local masts are. The full details of yesterday, or as much as worth writing, plus how I slept, and how I feel this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |

09:09 BST
Yesterday was a very dull
day, but at least it was mostly dry. There was one
brief shower sometimes around midday, and much later
than the forecast predicted. It was a very cool day
for this time of year (or at least how I choose to
believe it should be). The morning started around 17°
C, and it slowly warmed to just 21° C (according to
the forecast (I can't recall checking it on my own
thermometers). I think it was around 7 or 8pm when we
actually had proof the sun had not gone out. I recall
two sunny spells. Both were little more than 15
seconds long !
The forecast for today looks grim, but maybe the
latest revision is slightly less grim (by the skin of
it's teeth). The latest revision shows the thunderstorms
starting at midday, and the lead up to them to be just
mid grey sky. They could continue until 4pm. The Met
Office forecast is a bit different. That warns of
thunderstorms, but doesn't actually show any on the
chart. It shows "light showers" at midday, "heavy
showers" at 1 and 2pm, and then "heavy rain" at 3pm. At
4pm they say "light showers", and after that it should
be dry, but still dull. Both forecasters predict a high
of 21° C today. Tomorrow could start chilly at just 14°
C, and it will rain, but from 11am the sun should break
through to bring sunny spells for the rest of the day.
The afternoon high may only be 20° C. Tuesday may see
the return of sunnier weather, and the build up to
another heatwave towards the end of the week. ![]() Yesterday, the dismal weather, even if it was almost dry, had a dismal effect on me, and while I didn't feel depressed at any time, my actions, or lack of them, strongly suggested otherwise. I did one physical thing and one bit of experimentation on myself by way of altered diet. All the details of my day, plus how I slept and what I dreamed, plus notes about this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |

08:19 BST
It was generally bright and
sunny yesterday, although once or twice a thin cloud
drifted in front of the sun, and it dimmed a
bit. The afternoon temperature reached the
forecast 26° C, and maybe a little bit more, but the
heat didn't seem to feel oppressive.
So far this morning there has been no hint of any
rain, and yet it is most definitely cloudy. By my
reckoning the rain has 22 minutes to show or the
forecast was a hoax...well sort of. Thick cloud is
forecast from 9am to 5pm, and even though none is shown
in the forecast, I would not be surprised if we didn't
get at least a few spots of rain during that time. From
6pm the clouds may have changed from very dark to light
grey, but it seems we will not see a single ray of
sunshine today. The temperature may only rise to 21° C,
and that might almost feel cold compared to some of the
hottest days recently. Tomorrow morning may see some
thundery showers. I have no idea why, but they always
seem to be shown with the rays of the sun around them. I
doubt we will see a single ray of sunshine at any time
tomorrow. Once again the temperature may only rise to
21° C. Monday may be no warmer, but there may be some
sunny spells in the afternoon, but a lot could change by
then.![]() Yesterday was really all about my visit to see the actual diabetic nurse (the nurse who deals with diabetic patients). I think she was the one I saw a year (maybe two) ago, and thought she was a bit harsh. This time she was less annoying, and made some fair suggestions. There is more about that, and the rest of my day, plus notes about my night, and this morning, and all can be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Friday 4th July 2025 |
08:32 BST
Yesterday started with
bright sunshine. The forecast said that sunshine would
give way to just sunny spells after midday, and there
was indeed an hour or so when it did seem dull, but
the sun was soon shining again, and the afternoon did
feature a lot of sunshine. the forecast high was 24°
C, but I think it may have risen closer to 27° C.
It is sunny now, but there are some patches of
thin white cloud that could dim the sunshine if they
pass in front of the sun. The forecast says this
afternoon should see 26° C. After sunset it is supposed
to start clouding over. That means it will probably feel
less fresh tomorrow morning. The cloud will continue all
day tomorrow, and no sunshine at all is forecast. It
could range from dull to very dull, and the temperature
may only rise to 20° C. The day after tomorrow, Sunday,
could see some rain and drizzle.![]() Yesterday was generally a good day, although like many days it was up and down. Less good was that somehow it had a sting in it's tail. Quite what caused it remains a mystery, but it did keep me up for a couple of hours early this morning, and I am unsure how I feel now. My day is described, along with stuff happening during the early hours of this morning, plus some notes about this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |

07:37 BST
Yesterday started quite
dull, and there was some rain, but less rain than
forecast. Generally it was just a short passing shower
every one or two hours. The afternoon saw sunny
spells, and I think they started earlier than
forecast. There most definitely was not a thunderstorm
at 2pm as later versions of the forecast predicted
(although there may have been thunderstorms tens of
miles away somewhere). The maximum temperature was
only 24° C, and at the beginning and end of the day it
actually felt cold (even if it would have been
considered very warm back in February).
Today sees the return of bright sunshine this
morning, and maybe just sunny spells this afternoon.
Once again the maximum temperature may only be 24°
C. Tomorrow could start off very fresh, just 15° C, but
full sunshine all day long will warm the day up to 26° C
by the end of the afternoon. The day after tomorrow may
see more rain, and probably much cooler temperatures,
possibly as low as 21° C in the afternoon, but that
forecast could change a lot in the next 48 hours.![]() Yesterday brought mixed blessings. My day was still fairly good even though it was also bad. Not dripping everywhere was good, but not getting to the pub was bad. For some stupid reason I was looking forward to walking to the pub while dodging the rain, but I didn't even go out at all. All the gruesome reasons for how my day was like it was, are all described, along with notes about my night and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |

08:46 BST
Yesterday was the hottest
day of the year - so far ! There was loads of
sunshine, but from time to time some clouds came along
and it seemed dim for a while. The BBC claimed, on the
6 O'clock news that the temperature had peaked at
34.7° C, and one of my outside thermometer was saying
34.3° C at 3:42pm when it seemed to be the hottest. At
the same time my bedroom was up to 32.6° C. It was
almost midnight when the temperature had dropped
enough to be noticed.
I think it was still 20° C at 7am this morning,
rather than the 19° C shown in the forecast. The good
news is that it definitely feels cooler today, although
it may well still reach 24° C this afternoon. A lot of
light rain is forecast for the morning, and maybe the
start of the afternoon. So far I have seen one light
shower that didn't seem to last more than 20 minutes. It
was enough to make the garden look wet, but if that is
the pattern for this morning I might be able to walk
through the park in the dry. Update: The BBC have added
a lightning bolt for 2pm today ! They like their
forecasts of lightning, but they very rarely happen.
Tomorrow sees a return to sunshine and then sunny
spells, but the temperature may only peak at 24° C.![]() I hate to admit it, but yesterday's heat did not invigorate me, but did quite the opposite. Maybe it was the humidity, or the times when the sun was hidden behind cloud, or just my general state of health, but unlike in the hot summer of 2020, I felt no urge to go for a very long walk, or even a medium walk. My day, such as it was, plus my night, and this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today. |

I think I can admit that
yesterday was hot, but worse than that was that it
seemed to be humid as well, and that made for a sticky
day. A few clouds were seen, but the sun seemed to be
shining at full strength all day long, and the
temperature reached the forecast 32° C.
It was another rather warm night, and this
morning seemed to start at 24° C on my thermometers.
Today the temperature may reach 32° C, and with 33° C
possible. The night should start very warm and sticky,
but it is all change during the night. Tomorrow at 6am
it may be raining, and and 19° C. The rain may continue,
although it will probably just be quite light rain,
until early afternoon when we should see sunny spells
for several hours, and full sunshine for the last few
hours of daylight. Tomorrow's maximum may be just 23° C.![]() Yesterday started off as sort of exciting, but later in the afternoon it just seemed too hot and sticky to raise any enthusiasm to do that much. Apart from one still unfinished job, it didn't matter that I just indulged in keeping hydrated and cool in the afternoon (as recommended by several very boring TV doctors). My day is described, with a few pictures, along with last night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
