Yesterday was another
godforsaken grey, and miserable sort
of day. The temperature only reached
15° C, but it was dry.
Today is another in a too long
series of grey and depressing days.
With the temperature only reaching
just 14° C it is going to be cold and
miserable. The only solace is that it
should stay dry, but maybe some
pouring rain with a temperature of 20°
C would be a better day. Tomorrow
might possible see a sunny spells at
6pm, but the rest of the day is
forecast to be dull, gloomy and
depressing. It will be a little less
cold though - a whole 1° C warmer at
15° C !
Yesterday was a day when very
little happened, and so there is not a
lot to write about it. This is handy
because I am short of time this
morning. As mentioned yesterday, I am
due at the Hospital for an appointment
with the Cardiologist(s) at 11:10am,
and I need a shower before I get
dressed to go out.
The important things about
yesterday was that I made some sort of
poor attempt to eat less, and I had a
wet shave, shampoo and shower. Today I
should need little more than a quick
splash under the shower before I am
fit to enter the hallowed grounds of
the Hospital (or some such old
bollocks).
In my attempt, a rather poor
attempt really, to see if I could lose
a bit of weight, I had fish fingers
for lunch and soup, admittedly with
added cheese for dinner. I had two
cans of soup. The first was tomato
soup, and some cheddar cheese goes
well with that. I'm not sure why I
thought that cheese would go well with
bacon and lentil soup, but it was a
satisfactory experiment.
Apart from Cooking and washing,
I did almost nothing of note. I seemed
to spend a fair amount of time laying
on my bed, reading and snoozing. I
suddenly remember there was one
important thing I did soon after my
morning shower (which was late enough
to almost be an early afternoon
shower), and it was to give myself my
next Mounjaro injection. I also
checked the for more information about
Mounjaro as well.
According to
https://www.drugs.com/mounjaro.html
and a few other pages, it was as I
thought I remembered, and that was
that it was initially invented (if
"invented" is the right word here)
more as a diabetes drug than a weight
loss drug. The weight loss effect,
when it works, was just an added
benefit. I can confirm that as a
Diabetes treatment it really does work
incredibly well. As a weight loss drug
it is extremely patchy for me, and
some days I have put weight on instead
of losing it. The whole idea of trying
to control my diet yesterday was to
try and lose a bit of weight instead
of putting it on. It was not an ideal
weight loss diet, but it was one that
was easy to do.
Moving on to the evening, and I
spent most of it just watching TV. One
thing I didn't do last night, and I am
not sire why not, was to not drink any
booze - purely because I am seeing one
of more doctors this morning (last
time it was two of them taking turns
in a the good cop/bad cop
method.....or something like that) -
(actually I think one was a junior
doctor and the other a consultant).
I had stayed up fairly late
watching TV, but when I turned out the
light, and turned over, I think I fell
asleep fairly quickly. I don't
remember much about last night, and
that is probably a good sign. I do
remember getting up to pee once or
twice, and I remember slightly turning
up the thermostat on my heater because
the cold night was making my bedroom
cool off a bit.
I got up at almost 7am,
although I had woken up once closer to
6am. The first thing was to go to the
toilet. Maybe nearly an hour later,
when I was counting out my pills for
the day, I went to the toilet again.
The earlier visit did not include a
poo, but the second visit did, and I
also passed a trickle of pee. I
weighed myself again, and it was a bit
better, and that was my "official"
weight this morning. In my attempt to
lose a bit of weight I actually gained
100gm. I am at that stage where my
weight is now fairly constant, and I
await some event that will reduce it a
good enough amount that I get stuck
around that figure. This is now how I
was "sold" Mounjaro.
Mounjaro is definitely working
brilliantly for it's original purpose
- blood glucose control. This morning
the Contour meter read 6.3mmol/l, and
I regard that as very good. The
GlucoRX meter gave a figure I have not
seen for many, many years, 5.4mmol/l.
I think even the brute of a diabetes
nurse would say that is very slightly
good (but the way she talks, she would
not be happy until my blood glucose is
so low that I am in a diabetic coma).
The GlucoFix meter read 6.2mmol/l, and
that is also really good in my book.
It is fortunate that I am now
coming to the end of this piece
because it will mean less rushing
about getting ready to go out. The
timing of my consulation with the
Cardiologist should mean that once
they have finished with me I can
straight to the next pub, the Jolly
Farmers - as per most Wednesday lunch
times. If I find I have left enough
time, I may go to the hospital via the
pharmacy where I shall order my next
repeat prescription - something I
should have done on Monday. The
pharmacy should be able to get my
repeat prescription ready for
collection on Friday morning - just as
my current prescription runs out.
