My Electronic Diary For
February 2025 |
Friday 28th February 2025 |
09:46 GMT
The weather was sort of so bland yesterday that I can barely remember it... Actually I do remember that it was quite sunny long before the forecast predicted it. I am very sure it was dry, and I think the forecast for a high of 9° C in the afternoon was right. ![]() This morning started
cold enough for frost - thanks to a clear sky that
is also responsible for golden sunshine coming
through my windows. It is just about providing
enough warmth to keep the heater off. If the
forecast is correct, the sunshine should continue,
non stop, until 2pm when we will only get sunny
spells. There will be very little wind, no rain,
and that should mean it will feel quite pleasant
in the sunshine despite the maximum temperature
being predicted to 9° C. Tomorrow may start
with almost (or maybe actually) freezing fog, but
maybe by 10am the sun will burn it off to give
another day of strong sunshine. It still might not
warm the day up to any higher than 9° C.
I think I can sum up yesterday as being a mostly, but not totally, a relaxed day. That made it pleasant, but the evening featured a big depressing event. It was the cause of some very unwise eating, and it was that which made it depressing, and not the other way round. This is all sort of described, along with some notes about a not good night, and notes about the consequences this morning in my complete archived page for today. |

08:35 GMT
The weather forecast painted yesterday as a truly awful day but the reality was that it was not that bad. Some of the forecast rain fell, but there were some nice sunny spells - even when heavy rain was supposed to fall. The only thing I think the forecast got right was the temperature only reaching 8° C in the afternoon. ![]() The forecast says it
should be light grey now, but I would say it is
more medium grey. The slightly thicker cloud is
probably why the temperature is currently 7° C
instead of the forecast 6° C. The afternoon
temperature should reach 9° C, and the clouds
should have broken up enough to give sunny spells
in the afternoon (and hopefully earlier). The sky
could be completely clear tonight, and that will
allow the temperature to drop very low tonight. It
might get low enough for some frost in sheltered
areas tomorrow morning, but it should soon warm
back up 9° C, and tomorrow should be nice and
sunny. It looks like we may be looking forward to
a week of sunny days.
The whole of yesterday hinged around my expected beer delivery. It was not due until 4pm at the earliest, and so I had plenty of time to do other stuff, including going out for my Wednesday lunchtime Guinness in The Jolly Farmers. I guess the big trouble was believing that yesterday would feature loads of heavy rain. Not a great deal happened yesterday, but I have described it along with notes about last night and this morning in my complete archived page for today. |
Wednesday 26th February 2025 |
07:55 GMT
Apart from a few showers in the early morning, yesterday was a rather splendid day. There was very little wind, and that made the afternoon high of 10° C feel almost OK, and then lots of warm sunshine made it actually feel good. The only negative thing was how fast it cooled down in the night thanks to an almost clear sky. It went down to 5° C by midnight. ![]() It is all change today.
A 4° C start, and just an 8° C afternoon high.
Worse than that is that heavy rain is forecast
from 10am to 1pm, and lighter rain until 5pm. It
promises to be a very miserable sort of day, and
another chilly night. Tomorrow may be a dry day,
which is good, and there may be some sunny spells
from late afternoon, and that too is good, but a
high of 9° C would need to be higher still to make
it a good day. Maybe that will happen.....or maybe
not.
I don't have a lot to show about yesterday, but it somehow feels like it was quite a good day. Of course the bright sunshine, with no need for any heating for quite a few hours, was a very big plus point. There were a few other small things that helped make it a good day. My day is mostly described, along with notes about my night and dreams, plus more notes about this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Tuesday 25th February 2025 |
09:13 GMT
Yesterday's weather forecast painted a pretty depressing sort of day, but once again it was wrong. There were a few showers, one of them was even a bit heavy, but by and large it was a very nice day with plenty of sunshine - some a bit hazy, and some very strong. The temperature rose to about 13° C, as per the forecast, and so they at least got that bit right. Maybe the worst bit was that the temperature dropped down to just 8° C in the night, but even that was not too bad. ![]() This morning did start
at around 8° C, and there was some light rain, or
maybe the ground was wet from earlier rain. Right
now the sun is trying to push through the clouds.
It got just bright enough to cast a feint shadow.
This is a lot like yesterday, and maybe the sun
might punch through the cloud earlier than the
sunny spells forecast from between 1pm and sunset
at 5.33pm. The afternoon temperature may reach 10°
C, and in sunshine that should feel OK,
particularly if the wind is as light as the
forecast suggests (under 10mph). It is going to be
another, but even colder night. Tomorrow may start
as low as 4° C, and it may only rise to 8° C. To
add to the misery it could be a very wet day.
Despite all my beliefs to the contrary, right up to almost mid afternoon, yesterday turned out to be a good day. Prior to that change I didn't think I would do anything yesterday, and that would bring the negative aspects of wanting to eat badly. I was not in ideal control of my eating, but I seemed to do quite well at the end. All this and more is described, along with some notes about my night and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Monday 24th February 2025 |
09:09 GMT
Yesterday's weather forecast seemed so wrong ! The morning sunny spells and sunshine turned out to just a few weak sunny spells, and each probably lasted no more than 5 minutes. The very gusty winds forecast were not as bad as shown on the weathe chart. Must of the day was windy, but I don't think the strongest gust managed 44mph !I'm unsure about the exact timing, but the late afternoon and evening light rain did fall. The temperature was probably about as forecast, but 11° C, but in the gusty winds at 1pm it still felt quite chilly with no supporting sunshine. ![]() As I write these words
at 9:42am the sky is showing a few small cracks
that show blue, and for the last 10 minutes there
has been sunshine. There has been drizzle earlier,
and may be more before midday when the only
forecast sunny spell is forecast to happen. From
1pm it may be back to light rain for the next 5
hours. After 6pm it may be dry, but the
temperature is going to fall from an afternoon
high of 13° C to just 8° C by midnight. Tomorrow
may be dry with quite a lot of sunny spells, but
it is going to be colder. The afternoon may not
get any higher than 10° C - even in the sunny
spells !
Yesterday morning seemed to be very slow, or maybe I should say that I seemed very slow in the morning. Maybe both. Perhaps it was waiting for the sunny spells and sunshine that never really happened (not counting for a few minutes of sunny spells spread over half the morning). The rest of my day, night, and this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Sunday 23rd February 2025 |
08:39 GMT
Yesterday was too cloudy for all but some brief bursts of sunshine, and many of them were rather hazy anyway. The afternoon temperature reached 12° C, and that seemed mostly OK. It was mild enough to open a few windows for a while. ![]() Today the weather comes
in two halves. This morning is bright, and we have
already had some sunshine. The temperature should
climb from 9° C to 11° C by midday, but a few
hours later it all goes wrong. The temperature may
stay the same until gone midnight, but from 3pm
very strong winds are forecast, and from 4pm there
will be rain to add to the misery, although it may
only be light rain. Tomorrow should see 12° C, but
it is going to be a wet day, although the forecast
says only light rain, and no heavy rain.
It is hard to say why, but I felt strangely better yesterday. It could almost have been that sort of feeling you get after getting over a cold, but I didn't seem to have any easily definable illness. This morning I had clues to show that I was better in some ways. My day, night, which was another bad one, and some notes about this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Saturday 22nd February 2025 |
10:00 GMT
Yesterday was generally bright, but there was very little sunshine. The weather forecast predicted a mostly sunny morning and afternoon, but the cloud cover was too extensive for that. The forecast of 15° C was correct, and it was feeling almost warm. ![]() This morning started at
10° C and that seemed good. I don't think I can
remember black clouds for the first couple of hours,
but it was cloudy. Later on we may, or may not, get
some sunny spells, and even sunshine. The afternoon
temperature should reach 12° C. Apparently that is
supposed to be good for this time of year, although
I have known better. Tonight the temperature will
drop a lot, but tomorrow should see it up to 11° C
after a cool start. There might even be some sunny
spells, but from 5pm we may get drizzle and light
rain. All the clouds should keep the temperature
steady at 11° C for the rest of the day.
Yesterday I did two important things, but overall it was not a very productive day except to somehow keep my blood glucose very high. That seems to have been a very productive, or strictly speaking a counter productive, thing, and the worst thing is that I am unsure how I did it. All this is described in my complete archived page for today, which also includes notes about last night and this morning. |
Friday 21st February 2025 |
09:38 GMT
Yesterday was wet, but there was only a brief fall of moderately heavy rain. During the morning the clouds were just about thin enough to let in a minute or two of weak hazy sunshine. The best thing about yesterday was the temperature. Still falling a little short of warm without any supporting sunshine, but 12° C seemed marvellous compared to the sometimes very much lower temperature so far this year. 20250221.html
![]() It is about 13° C as
I write this, and that tallies with the forecast,
but it is not sunny. There was a few minutes of weak
hazy sunshine that was just strong enough to cast a
feint shadow, but no full on sunshine as shown in
the forecast. Even worse is that it is raining ! The
idea that we could see a high of 15° C this
afternoon seems probable. If the sky does clear
enough for full sunshine that is going to feel very
nice. Sadly it is forecast that it is back dark
clouds and rain from 4pm onwards. Tomorrow may start
with some light rain, but it should clear by before
mid morning. The sun may not appear until midday,
and the temperature may be it's highest for the day
during early afternoon. only 12° C is expected, but
could still feel good in any sunshine.
Yesterday started off bad with dangerously high blood glucose readings, and also my weight going up by 800gm. I had to try and fast, and that is not easy when booze is involved later in the afternoon. I think I did well until I had finished drinking ! Today hasn't started well either. Yesterday, last night, a very long sleepless night, and this morning are all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Thursday 20th February 2025 |
08:47 GMT
There were a few sparse sunny spells yesterday, but far less than the forecast predicted. Without any sunshine the afternoon temperature of 9° C still seemed chilly. ![]() It is indeed 11° C
this morning, and should be 12° C, but it comes at a
price of rain. Fortunately most of the rain will be
very light, and much of it just drizzle. It may be
dry after 6pm, but the temperature may not drop from
12° C. That will mean a mild start to tomorrow.
There could be a few hours of sunshine tomorrow,
although I think we might be straddling two weather
systems, so nothing is guaranteed for tomorrow. The
best bit could be 14° C while there is sunshine.
That could feel really nice.
Yesterday was one of those days that started well, but ended as a disaster, although the true outcome of the disaster was not obvious until this morning. One other negative thing was the betrayal of the weather forecast. One good sunny spell does not make a day of sunny spells ! My day and night, plus this morning, is all described, with a few photos, in my complete archived page for today. |
Wednesday 19th February 2025 |
08:40 GMT
Yesterday was still cold, but it was beautifully sunny. That made it warm behind glass, for instance my south facing rooms, but outside the temperature only just reached 6° C. (Same text as the day before, but the temperature corrected). ![]() Today is the last of
a string of sunny days. The day has started very
cold again, but there is weak and hazy sunshine. The
sly looks misty, and maybe this is why only sunny
spells are forecast for most daylight hours. The
misty looking clouds seem to be able to trap heat
because today may reach 9° C. In some sunshine that
might even feel warm. Tomorrow may often be damp
with either drizzle or light rain, but it is going
to be warmer even if thick clouds keep the sun from
shining. Most of the day will be either 12 or 13° C.
Yesterday was quite a successful day in many respects, but not in others. The day got off to a very late start because somehow I ended up writing over 3000 words in the electronic diary. That is enough for a short story, and possibly even a novella, although I can't remember the actual lengths used in the publishing world. All the bits of my day worth recording, plus notes about my night, and this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Tuesday 18th February 2025 |
08:47 GMT
Yesterday was still cold, but it was beautifully sunny. That made it warm behind glass, for instance my south facing rooms, but outside the temperature only just reached 5° C. ![]() Another night of
clear skies and another frost this morning. The
temperature should rise to 6° C today, thanks to
strong sunshine all day (or so the forecast
predicts). The temperature may not fall to zero
tonight, and tomorrow should start at 2° C. There
may be a few hours of full sunshine, but that will
be followed by sunny spells until about 3pm. The
temperature will continue to rise after the
afternoon. The afternoon should see 8° C, but if the
forecast for tomorrow actually portrays reality, it
should be 9° C by midnight. Wednesday may even see
13° C, but it may be a rather wet day.
Yesterday left a bit of a bad legacy, but it was really quite a good day - rather better than any for days or even weeks. The secret was sunshine ! It inspired me to do two things, and the best bit was that both could be done at the same time. It was all about exercise and an unusual shopping trip. My day is described, with a selection of pictures, plus some notes about my night and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Monday 17th February 2025 |
08:34 GMT
Yesterday was cold. The temperature ranged between a start of 3° C, 4° C in the afternoon, and then down to just 2° C at the end of the day. The day was forecast to be dull, and even very dull, all day long, but there were some short sunny spells in the morning, and quite a few longer sunny spells in the afternoon. If it wqas not for the cold it might have been a good day. ![]() Clear skies in the
night meant the temperature dropped to near 0° C,
and the day started with a frost. However, the clear
sky continues, and today should feature full
strength sunshine until sunset. Sadly this will only
raise the temperature to a forecast 5° C. The sky
will stay clear tonight, and by midnight it will be
just 1° C. Tomorrow may actually start at 1° C, and
another day of full sunshine may see a high of 6° C
in the afternoon - which is still quite cold. The
day after tomorrow could even reach 10° C, but there
could be some rain or drizzle, and I doubt the
forecast for Wednesday is real science, and more
like just guess work, but fingers crossed.
Yesterday was spoiled by the annoyance of constipation. I am happy to say that this morning I have been once already, and may go again soon. The thing with constipation is that it is sometimes justly mildly, and at times forgettably uncomfortable, but the real bother is that you never know when it will be over, and it could happen at an inconvenient time. All this, and less unpleasant details about yesterday, last night, and this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Sunday 16th February 2025 |
08:05 GMT
Yesterday started off cold, 3° C, and only warmed up to just 5° C. Of course this is just an edit of what I wrote yesterday with the temperatures increased by one. One difference is that there was some rain in the evening. ![]() The forecast
suggests medium grey for right now, but the reality
is that it is barely light outside. At least it is
dry. At midday the already thick cloud could get
thicker, but maybe just for the one hour. By then
the temperature may have risen to just 4° C. In the
last two hours before sunset there could be sunny
spells. At this end of the day it looks unlikely,
but fingers crossed. Tomorrow may start cold enough
for a frost, but non stop sunshine is forecast.
Sadly it may only warm the day up to just 5° C, but
at least it will look nice, and should warm up my
south facing rooms - hopefully enough to turn the
heating off for much of the day.
Yesterday should have been a good day, and in parts it was, but the cold and dull weather spoiled it. During the morning a few brief, and very unexpected sunny spells tried to cheer things up, but a minute or two in a sea of greyness had little impact. I more fully describe my day yesterday, plus my night, and some of this morning in my complete archived page for today. |
Saturday 15th February 2025 |
08:38 GMT
Yesterday started off cold, 2° C, and only warmed up to just 4° C (or maybe 5° C by all my thermometers). It also started off with sunny spells. After an hour or two they were long enough, and the dull periods so short that they were as good as full sunshine - which is what we officially got from 2pm, ![]() Oh dear, it's now
back to grim times again. Today be dry until late
afternoon, but it is going to range from dark grey
to very dark grey. The highest temperature we can
expect is just 5° C. Tomorrow is going to see a
similar range of temperatures, but it could be light
grey all day, and probably totally dry.
Yesterday was a very good day. This was for a range of reasons, and most reasons bolstered the other reasons. The bright sunshine was the trigger for it all....at least it would seem to be, although I was feeling much better before the sun had even risen. My day, how I felt, plus notes about my night, and about this morning, together with a couple of pictures, can all be seen and read in my complete archived page for today. |
Friday 14th February 2025 |
09:43 GMT
Yesterday was mostly cold and grey. During the morning and late afternoon it was only medium dark grey, but the afternoon was an even darker shade of grey. It managed to stay dry all day, and the afternoon warmed from 3° C in the morning to 5° C until late afternoon when it dropped down again. ![]() The forecast says it
should be just 2° C, but all my thermometers say it
is 4° C. As I write this I am enjoying nice warm
sunshine coming through my windows. The northern sky
looks to be almost all blue, but to the south there
are some clouds, but I think it possible that the
forecast full sunshine may start earlier than the
2pm of the forecast. Whether that will warm the
afternoon up to more than 4° C is unknown, but
seeing it is already 4° C, it does seem likely.
Tonight will be another cold night. Tomorrow it is
back to being very grey, and with a very small
chance of some rain. Sadly it may be no warmer than
5° C.
Yesterday was not a good day. It started off basically OK, but just got more and more bad as the day progressed. The only thing that was a temporary patch was some strong beer in the afternoon. I'm not sure when it started, and it may have been before I had finished writing, but I suffered from chest pains yesterday. The chest pains were not lethal, but still very annoying, and I have more to say about them, and about the rest of my day, night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Thursday 13th February 2025 |
07:33 GMT
Yesterday was brighter and warmer than the day before....if you can call 6° C "warmer", and the "brighter" was just a lighter grey. By midnight the temperature had dropped to just 3° C. ![]() Today will be cooler
than yesterday - just 5° C is forecast. It seems
quite grey now, almost as if the sun was still
rising, and from late morning it may get an even
darker grey. It should be just 3° C right now, but
all my thermometers say it is already 5° C. Maybe
today will be a bit warmer, although only in the
range that is just plain cold. Tomorrow may be even
colder. The afternoon high is currently forecast to
be just 4° C, but there could be a fair few sunny
spells, and even an hour or two of non stop
sunshine.
I could have gone for my lunchtime Guinness at The Jolly Farmers yesterday. Patricia didn't get here until about 6pm - much later than expected. It meant I had a quite relaxed, and maybe even relaxed day while waiting for her. To give her her due, she did keep me updated during the day. As usual, my day is more fully described, and with added notes about my night and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Wednesday 12th February 2025 |
09:18 GMT
Yesterday was mostly dry, except for some light rain in the morning. However, it was still very grey, and with a top temperature of just 5° C, it was quite a cold day. ![]() Today is supposed to
be a bit brighter, and I guess it is a slightly
lighter shade of gloomy grey. No rain is expected,
and that is a good thing. A maximum temperature of
6° C is not a good thing. Tomorrow will be just like
today except it will only reach 5° C. It seems to be
taking forever to get some sort of spring joy.
Today is the day that Patricia comes to stay for one night. She will be arriving earlier than her original estimate - possibly as early as 1pm. That means I am going to have to keep this brief, but that is OK because I don't have a lot to say about yesterday. It seems I only wrote 930 words about yesterday, last night, and this morning, and all can be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Tuesday 11th February 2025 |
08:56 GMT
Yesterday was yet another cold, wet and grey day. Like the day before, there were some breaks in the rain, and some of the rain was just drizzle, but almost as per the forecast, it almost rained all day and night. The temperature was 4° C all morning, and then dropped to 3° C at about mid afternoon. ![]() Today may be a weak
improvement on yesterday. The ground still looks
very wet, presumably from rain during the night, but
there is quite a low chance forecast for rain this
morning, and even less from early evening when, if
we could see them in the dark, the clouds may be
lighter. This morning starts at 3° C then climbs to
4° C, and finally peaks at 5° C from 1pm. It then
starts to fall at 8pm. Tomorrow may see just light
cloud, no rain, and it may reach 6° C during early
afternoon. It is forecast to be better than today,
but only by a small margin.
Yesterday felt like a really horrible day despite doing a few useful things. It was spoiled by not doing more useful things, losing control of my eating, and aches and pains. The latter being quite acute in the late evening. All the negativity seemed to breed more negativity, and that was part of the reason why I could not bring myself to do more useful stuff. What I did do is described, along with notes about last night and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Monday 10th February 2025 |
08:29 GMT
Yesterday was another cold, wet and grey day. There were some breaks in the rain, and some of the rain was just drizzle, but almost as per the forecast, it almost rained all day and night. The temperature may have briefly peaked at 6° C, but just 5° C was more representative of the middle of the day. ![]() Today continues this
awful cold, dark and wet trend. Today will be even
worse. The first half of the day will only be 4° C,
and the second half just 3° C. The clouds are
forecast to be very dark all day, and it will rain
all day as well. Tomorrow may be mostly dry, but it
will still be very grey, and and cold. Just 5° C is
expected.
I did a few useful things yesterday, but not as much as would have been sort of ideal. I had allocated the second half of the afternoon to beer drinking, but only had a single can of lager (it was a one pint can !). There was little reason to feel happy, and reasons to be depressed. I did just a little bit of the latter. My day, my night, and some notes about this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Sunday 9th February 2025 |
09:09 GMT
Yesterday may not have been as miserable as the day before, but it certainly could NOT be called a pleasant day. It was quite a wet day, but most of the rainfall was just drizzle. It was cold and dark. The afternoon did reach 7° C and that made it a tiny bit easier to warm the room while just having the heater on low. ![]() Today continues the
recent trend of grey skies and rain. Once again some
of it may be no more than drizzle. Most of it will
be light rain, but 9pm may feature heavy rain,
although reality may have drifted away from the
forecast, in either direction, by then. The whole
day will be grey, although as I write this it is a
very light grey. The highest temperature may be just
two one hour periods where the temperature reached
6° C. Tomorrow may be like a few days ago when the
temperature was 4° C all day long. It will still
continue the trend of being grey and raining all day
long.
I don't really know if yesterday was a good or bad day, a depressing day or a happy day. There were bits of both, but the cold and wet weather heavily biassed it towards bad and depressing. I still managed to do a few useful things though. After writing, and the usual rest, I spent a bit of time cleaning myself. The story continues in my complete archived page for yesterday, and which includes notes about my night and this morning. |
Saturday 8th February 2025 |
09:11 GMT
Yesterday was truly a miserable day. It probably rained a bit less than forecast, but it most definitely did rain. Fortunately most of it was light rain, or even drizzle, but contrary to the forecast, we did get a few moderately heavy, but short lived showers. The real miserable things was the very dull light, and the fact that the temperature barely changed from a very cold 4° C all day long. ![]() Today may be
detectably better than yesterday. For a start the
temperature should reach a still rather cold 7° C in
the afternoon. It was remain very dull, and plenty
of drizzle is forecast. Tonight the temperature may
drop to just 3° C by midnight. Tomorrow the misery
continues, only a bit worse than today. The grey day
may be an even darker grey, and the rain may be
light rain, although some hours may only see
drizzle. By late afternoon the temperature may reach
7° C again, but I guess it is still going to feel
shivery cold.
It seems that somehow I did better than expected yesterday. The miserable day made me want to eat far too frequently, but I seemed to have moderated that mania quite well, although unsurprisingly, not perfectly. Another amazing thing is that i reduced my electric consumption a lot. All this and more is more verbosely described, along with notes about my night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for this day. |
Friday 7th February 2025 |
09:02 GMT
Yesterday started off lovely and sunny, and I think the full sunshine lasted a bit longer than forecast. After that it was just sunny spells, but with a several hour pause in them when they would have been most wanted to keep my front rooms warm. They hardly made a difference after about 3pm, and may have even finished by then. The temperature did reach the forecast 8° C. I didn't see it myself, but Jodie and Alan both reported some icy cold light rain around 4pm. ![]() I guess it is some
sort of tease to show rays of sunshine around the
dark clouds in the weather forecast. The chances of
seeing any sun today seem slim in the extreme. It
doesn't seem to be raining as I write this, and I
didn't notice any rain earlier, but the forecasts
says there will be light rain all day long. It
currently only looks very slightly damp outside.
Today has started around 4° C, and the middle and
end will all be about the same. It has all the
ingredients for a horrible, depressing day. Tomorrow
will be a little different, but not really better.
The morning may start at 5° C, and it will rain,
mostly light rain, or even some drizzle, until after
midday when it will be grey but dry. The afternoon
temperature may reach 7° C.
All the sunshine yesterday morning should have been inspiring, but I am not sure it was. It was a day when I had to fight a constant hunger, or if not exactly "hunger", a stupid desire to eat. It did not end well. I am not sure I even enjoyed the afternoon beer session. My day, such as it was, plus my night, and also some of this morning, is all described in depressing detail in my complete archived page for today. |
Thursday 6th February 2025 |
08:17 GMT
Yesterday was lovely and sunny, and the mere 9° C didn't feel that bad when out in the sunshine. The sun helped keep my front rooms warm while it was shining through the windows, but from about 3pm the sunshine seemed to lose it's heat as it was too low in the sky. It was a dry day, but the lack of clouds meant the temperature dropped a lot after dark. ![]() This morning,
despite the forecasts saying it was 2° C at 7am, it
was cold enough to start the day with a frost. It is
now 2° C, and should get warmer now the sun
has risen high enough to clear the house roofs to
the east. Maybe in another hour I will be able to
turn the heating off until late afternoon, but only
in the front of the house, and only if the sunny
spells after the first few hours of non stop
sunshine are long sunny spells. Even so, the
forecast says to only expect 8° C outside this
afternoon. Once again, the temperature may drop a
lot in the night. Tomorrow may be interesting, but
not nice at all. The current forecast says it will
be just 4° C all day long, and after 10am it will
start to rain, and that rain may continue on
Saturday. Earlier forecasts for Saturday suggested
there could be a lot of sleet in the morning, but it
may now be just barely warm enough to not freeze the
rain into sleet.
Yesterday was a typical example of how some sunshine can make for some of the day very nice, but later on it became really quite depressing. Although the depression had little to do with the weather even if the cold and dark when the sun set did nothing to help. My day is described in some detail, along with some notes about my night, and this morning, and it can all be read in my complete archived paged for today. |

Yesterday was slightly tepid, but it was still grey and horrible. It also seemed to be very damp. I could feel very light rain in a very cold wind when I went out. Later on, just after sunset there was some drizzle and rain as par the forecast. The afternoon temperature reached 10° C, but the lack of sunshine, and lively wind made it feel much colder. ![]() It wasn't cold
enough for a frost this morning, and by my reckoning
it was nearly a whole degree less cold than the
forecast 3° C for 7am. It should warm up to 9° C
today, and with sunshine forecast it could feel OK
(when in the sunshine). As I type the sunshine seems
a bit hazy, although when looking in the direction
of the sun it is still eye searing bright. Tonight
is going to get very cold thanks to the clear sky.
It could be 0° C at 6am tomorrow, but some full
sunshine for a few hours, and then sunny spells
until sunset, should get the temperature up to 8° C
in the afternoon.
Yesterday could be described as successful, but maybe lacking in any excitement. In fact it was sometimes boring - so boring that I did a few potentially dangerous experiments with my eating. To my surprise it almost turned out really well ! I achieved two useful other things yesterday, and both taxed some of the muscles that have been causing some pain recently. My day, night and this morning are all more fully described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was dry, but grey, and it felt very chilly despite the temperature reaching 8° C. ![]() This morning didn't
start as cold as yesterday morning, but it did start
grey and very damp looking. I think there must have
been some rain last night. The temperature may reach
10° C today, but it will be grey all day, except
when it is very grey from about 3pm onwards, and it
will still probably feel quite chilly. From 5pm we
may see some drizzle that will turn into light rain
after an hour. Tomorrow may only miss starting with
a frost by a degree or two. The day should see a lot
of sunshine, and it should reach 9° C in the
afternoon. It will probably still feel very chilly.
Mission accomplished - I bought my new microwave oven, but there is more to this story than just a couple of words. Yesterday was still not a very good day, and I guess "pretty awful" might sum it up fairly accurately. However, somehow I still managed to control my diet. My day is all described, along with some notes about my night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was bright and sunny, but cold. It was just 2° C in the morning, and only 7° C in the afternoon. The sunshine helped heat my south facing rooms, but not as much as I hoped for. ![]() Today it is back to
doom and gloom. The Met Office forecast shows mid
grey clouds all day long. The BBC forecast shows
light grey clouds. That may be a bit optimistic, and
somewhere between the two forecasts may be closer to
reality. The chances of a sunny spell for this hour
(8am) look highly unlikely. There was a frost early
this morning, but it has already melted. The
afternoon may see a high of 8° C. Tomorrow will be
very dull, and extremely dull late in the afternoon,
but the afternoon should reach 10° C, which would be
good if it were bright and sunny - which it won't
be. Most of the day, like today, will be dry, but
from about 6pm there could be rain.
Yesterday should probably have been a bad day, but it turned out OK in the end. I heard from Jodie to say she had a runny bottom, and would not be joining me in the afternoon. Michael was still sick or busy, and so I wouldn't be seeing him either. I had to make my own amusement. I will admit I was slightly bored, but evidently I did some good things, and you can read about it all in my complete archived page for today, which also includes notes about last night and this morning. |

Much of yesterday ticked all the boxes - cold, damp feeling (but no actual rain) and very grey, particularly until about midday - all the ingredients for terrible depression. On the plus side it did seem to get brighter, a lighter grey than the deep grey earlier, earlier than forecast. The temperature peaked at 7° C, and under the grey sky it felt very cold. ![]() This morning started
off very cold. My thermometers said it was below
zero, and the thick frost agreed with them. On the
plus side, it should be a sunny day, and that may
help raise the temperature to 7° C in the afternoon.
It is already looking very bright outside, although
the sun has to climb a bit higher before it can
shine into my room, and hopefully raise the
temperature to a toasty 26° C with no heater
running. By midnight the temperature may have fallen
to below zero again. At 5am tomorrow is may still be
-1° C, but at 6am the forecast says it will have
jumped straight to +3° C. That sounds unlikely.
Tomorrow is currently forecast to be medium grey all
day except for 4pm when there could be a sunny
spell. The afternoon temperature may reach a mild 9°
C.
Yesterday was an annoying day - mainly on account of waiting until almost 6pm for my Amazon delivery. On the other hand, I did seem to keep myself busy during the afternoon, and somehow I managed to control my eating better than any day for ages. My day, night and this morning, is more fully described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday started with some mostly light rain, and I am sure it continued an extra hour, maybe more, that the forecast cut off time of midday. From then on it was mostly light grey with a temperature of just 7° C until it started to slowly fall at 7pm. ![]() It is very grey this
morning - almost as if we are still waiting for
sunrise. This may continue to 3pm when the clouds
get a little thinner. Like yesterday,
the best temperature today will also be 7° C. At
least it may be dry today. Tomorrow, after a very
cold start, just 1° C, we should see bright sunshine
all day. Once again the temperature may peak at 7° C
for just a couple of hours - currently forecast to
be 2 and 3pm. By midnight it might be down to just
2° C, but with the level of accuracy of the forecast
recently, I would take that with a pinch of salt.
Yesterday was one of those days that seemed good and bad. Much of the bad was the wet morning, but there were other things that, while not bad as such, were not good. I hope I can remember them when I write about today, last night, and this morning. It feels like I didn't remember all the not so good bits in my full archived page for today, and which includes notes about my night and dreams, and the start of this morning. |
