As mentioned in the video, I was
feeling good enough to extend this walk by
about half a mile compared to the previous
day. By the Bow String Bridge I left the
park, and walked home over the top of
Perry Hill. That wasn't so bad, but my
feet were feeling quite heavy by the time
I got home. This change of weather really
is making me feel less capable of walking.
It is rash to make such predictions, but
at the moment it feels like I won't be
doing any 4+ mile walks any time in the
near future, or at my most pessimistic,
until next summer (or possibly spring if
the year warms up quickly).
I arrived home almost dripping with
sweat, and it felt so good to take off my
raincoat so I could get some air on my
body. I recovered, and dried up quite
quickly once I was out of that coat.
Although my feet had felt heavy on the
last bit of my walk, they were not in any
significant discomfort. After being home
for, maybe, half an hour, I didn't even
really feel tired. Despite that I didn't
seem to get much done in the afternoon.
I was just too busy doing nothing !
I didn't even find time to lie down and
read. A big reason for this was a 2 hour
phone conservation with a friend who I
hadn't spoken to possibly since sometime
near the beginning of the year. I managed
to fit in a bit of video editing before
dinner time, but that was all. It was
possibly fortunate that my dinner had to
be the spare kebabs that had been chilling
in my fridge since ordering them 2 days
previously as part of a takeaway dinner.
They were both the healthy grilled meat
and salad type of kebab.
If I didn't have those kebabs I
might have cooked up something far less
healthy to celebrate my weight loss at the
end of my walk. It still wasn't as good as
after some walks in very hot weather a few
weeks or more back, but it was a very
useful drop after weighing myself in the
morning. It was very close to the weight I
wanted to be on the morning of the 1st of
the month. That would have meant I would
have lost a whole 3kg during September. Of
course some of it was dehydration, but a
few grams would be burnt off during the
walk, and I did make quite a productive
visit to the toilet before going for my
walk.
I was looking forward to a good
nights sleep last night, and that is what
I did get eventually, but like the
previous night I had to deal with some
stomach ache before I could get
comfortable in bed. The night before last
night something turned the content of my
bowel to gas. Last night maybe that same
something (some sort of stomach bug ?)
turned the content of my bowel to liquid.
It seemed to happen very, very quickly.
One moment I seemed fine, and the next
moment I was running to the toilet doing
my best to not having an accident.
It makes me wonder what will happen
tonight. We've had the gaseous phase, and
the liquid phase. Presumably tonight it
will be the solid phase. I wonder what
that will be - cubes maybe ? Anyway,
all this unpleasantness only kept me from
my bed for maybe an hour, and I was
probably asleep not that long after 10pm
(maybe 11pm). I did seem to sleep quite
well after that with just one period in
the night when I was awake for 10 to 20
minutes. I didn't even seem to dream much.
I can only remember two almost
instant snapshots of my dreams. Both would
have been inspired by the SciFi book I am
reading. I was in some sort of
interstellar spaceship that used a novel
form of faster than light propulsion. I
have no idea what the spaceship looked
like inside or out, and I have no memory
of it actually moving. My first few
seconds of memory concern landing on a
planet, and seeing a statue. The Captain
took one look at it and said we must have
lanced on an alien planet because the
statue was of a woman with an "outie"
belly button, and he reckoned only aliens
had them.
The next few seconds of dream I
remember was of almost exactly the same
thing, but this time the statue had an
"innie" belly button, and it was announced
that we had landed on a human populated
planet. The weird thing is that I remember
these snippets as more like a concept than
an actual vision. I have an extremely
vague idea that the statue was sort of
rectangular rather than of a woman, but it
seemed that what the Captain said must be
right.
This morning, thanks to eating
fairly carefully by default, and my
emergency visits to the toilet last night,
my weight is pretty good this morning. I
have little doubt it won't be quite as
good tomorrow if, as seems likely, I get a
bit bored today. It is a
Sunday,
after all ! Even my blood glucose is
rather good this morning. It being
7.6mmol/l, and that was even after eating
a bit of junk food yesterday. This morning
I feel a bit cool, but with it being
little more than 9° C outside this is not
surprising. I think I also feel like I
probably would expect to feel on a rainy
morning - stiff and creaky.
I have a few unrefined thoughts
about what I will be doing today. I think
I will probably give going for a walk
today, although I am curious as to how
deep the river may be after the continuing
rain.... There are two things I will
almost certainly do. One is to wash some
sweaty t-shirts, and a few other items of
clothing. I'll have to dry them indoors,
but that could be a good excuse to put a
bit of heating on downstairs.
The other thing is to take a look
at some CD and DVD disks that Michael has
lent me to see if I can do anything with
them. One seems to be a DVD video, and
another an audio CD of his sons band
performing gigs some time ago. The third
disk is a recordable DVD but at the moment
I am unsure if it is another video DVD or
just a collection of raw video and audio
files. The main thing wanted is to try and
improve the sound. That could be a job
best done using the Windows program Cool
Edit Pro - if I can remember how to use
it. I used to do wonders with off air
recording with it once, and maybe it's
clip restoration function could help if
any of the band audio is over recorded and
clipped.
