A revised version of the weather forecast predicted a couple of hours of light rain in the morning. I remember some light rain, but I don't think it lasted 2 hours. Much of the day was lightly overcast, and so it wasn't actually gloomy, but there was no sunshine, although it was a close run thing. The clouds started to clear near sunset, and a lot of the sky turned pink as the sun set. The temperature did reach the predicted 11° C. In fact most of the day was 11° C, but with no sunshine, and a rather cool feeling wind, it felt a lot cooler than that.
glorious sunshine
The only thing that has changed in the most recent revision to the forecast is an acknowledgement that this morning was colder than originally forecast. My thermometer said it was just 2.4° C at 8am, and the the frost on the cars outside meant that it had been even lower earlier in the morning. Today the sky should be clear all day. After the very cold start it is not going to warm up that much. The sun is going to feel hot behind glass, and should feel hot on black clothing, but it seems the air temperature will struggle to reach 11° C. At the moment tomorrow is looking like it might be identical to today.

Once again there is not a great deal that can be said about yesterday. I didn't do anything productive except for another bit of hand laundry - just t-shirts and underpants. I didn't start it until the afternoon, and then didn't have time to finish it before two distractions. The first was having a chat with Michael out in the road. He had been shopping in his car, and I took him up on his offer to buy me some soft drinks. As we were finishing out brief chat Jodie arrived for our "support bubble" boozing session.

I finished my laundry, which just needed the final wringing out after the fabric conditioner, and then hung up to dry, while Jodie was drinking the first beer. I have to admit it wasn't the best boozing session. Jodie had brought over a few more cans of ultra sour beers that she seems to like, (and I don't), and then she spent much of the time on her phone. She was not the greatest company yesterday. She topped it all off by not getting ready in time to get her train, and had to hang around an extra 20 minutes for the next.

One slight good thing about yesterday's boozing session was that I tried another shot glass of absinthe. This time the shot glass was filled 50% with Absinthe, and 50% diet lemonade. That did make it much nicer. I could potentially drink a lot like that, and maybe, when that unknown special occasion arises, I will !

                                      internet service
The other day (day before yesterday ?) I came across this CD ROM in a mailing sleeve - sent to me in 1997. You may note it was suitable for Windows 95 and Windows 3.1. This was for pre-broadband service using a dial up connection and modem. I don't think I ever used it because I was probably using Tesco internet at the time. I later signed up to NTL for dial up, and then quite a few years later, NTL cable broadband.

I know exactly what I had for dinner last might. It was another chicken "stew". Last night the second major ingredient was tenderleaf broccoli. What I can't remember is what else I ate yesterday. I am very certain I had a sort of breakfast, and then a sort of lunch. Both could easily be classified as snacks. I probably had a snack at some time too. Any or all of these snacks, or snack like meals, probably had one common ingredient - Marmite (and specifically the limited edition Chilli flavoured Marmite that hardly tastes any different to ordinary Marmite). There could be some significance to this.

If it were not for a couple of things, I could have reported having a good sleep last night. It probably was not that bad despite the two little problems. One is simple and easy to understand - it got bloody cold last night, and I could either have got deeper under the duvet, which I don't like, or used a bit of heating. It was not a major problem - just a spoiler. The other thing may have had something to do with it getting cold. I might have been sleeping in an awkward position in an attempt to keep warm, but whatever the reason was, I slept in such a way as to get something like cramp, but probably not actually cramp in my left elbow. For a while it was bloody sore !

I'm sure I had many dreams last night, but one sticks in my memory for it's absurdness. I dreamed I was in The Marquee Club on Charing Cross Road, although why I thought that is anyone's guess because it looked completely different. It was just gone 11pm, and the bar was serving until midnight. I fancied one more before I went home. I ordered a pint of "Red Bitter" (the Marquee never had things like hand pumps, and only sold one type of crap keg beer). I handed a £10 note to the barmaid, but she said she wanted £12.39 because the prices tripled after 11pm.

That almost made my heart stop ! That was bloody expensive for a pint of beer. It was then that things got very weird. The barmaid handed me a £20 note, as if I had paid too much, and asked if I had the 39p in change - which after a bit of rummaging in my back pocket, I did. I quickly pocketed the £20 note, and went to take a drink of my beer when I woke up feeling sort of confused.

Fortunately I was not too confused to stop me getting back to sleep after a while, and than slept until about 6.30am. My left elbow was still a bit sore when I got up, but most of the rest of me felt reasonably OK....although I wasn't (and I am still not) feeling very dynamic. In fact I feel like doing some enhanced resting today. It is probably a hangover, and should fade soon.

In two other ways I am particularly good. My blood pressure is back to it's quite low values again after increasing the dose of Bisprolol that I take. I guess it was over a year ago now that I did some experimenting, with my doctors approval, maybe even encouragement, to find the optimum dose. 10mg seemed to lower my blood pressure too much, and 5mg marginally not enough. 7.5mg seemed optimal, but I haven't been prescribed any 2.5mg tablets in a long time now. I had been using 5mg, but my blood pressure was creeping up too much. Lately I have been taking 10mg again, and once my blood pressure has stabilised I think I may end up taking 5mg and 10mg on alternate days, and see what happens.

The other thing that is good is my blood glucose level. This morning it was 7.3mmol/l again. I have to admit that was unexpected after yesterday's beer, and also the wheat crackers I was having with Marmite and cheese. The thing about Marmite is that it has a lot of B vitamins in it, and one or more of them plays a useful part in the digestive system. I can't remember the details now, but I think it had something to do with the complex chemistry between fat and sugar. My two days of nice and low, almost ideal blood glucose readings, might suggest that I have had some sort of Vitamin B deficiency. It seems like an excellent excuse to eat more Marmite !

I haven't worked out any details yet, but I feel I have to make use of today's sunshine to go for a walk. The tricky bit is trying to decided how comfortable, or not, the weather will be. If the wind is not too bad it could feel OK in the sun once the temperature reaches 11° C, but that may not be until 3pm. I would like to go out in bare arms because unless I am imagining it, my recent bare armed walks have started to give a bit of colour back to my pasty looking arms. Maybe I'll try and wait until about 1pm. I don't think I'll be setting any records today. I expect just 3 miles in the Linear Park my be good enough for today.
