After a bit of activity in the
morning it seems like I did very
little until Jodie arrived for our
regular Sunday boozing session. It
all sounds very decadent, but when
I look back I think we only drank
about 2 pints each. We got through
about six 330ml cans of lager -
sharing each can between us. It
often seems a lot more at the
time, but Jodie can be a very slow
drinker because she is always busy
on her bloody mobile phone.
There was one other thing I
did yesterday, and I only have a
vague idea how I did it, and only
a very vague idea of what I did. I
think it probably started in the
morning when I partly choked on a
mouthful of fizzy drink when I
bent over to grab a pair of flip
flops. It was just a typical case
of "it went down the wrong way"
with a fair bit of coughing and
stuff. It didn't seem overly
dramatic, but maybe I might have
pulled a muscle because I was
bending over (which, in hindsight
was probably not a good idea after
just taking a gulp of liquid).
It wasn't for maybe a few
hours before I began to feel an
unpleasant pain. It was not a
strong pain, but the positioning
was a bit like a heart attack pain
with one big difference. The pain
was from the back instead of the
front. It is a most peculiar
feeling. Sometimes it feels like
my breathing is a bit funny, but I
can breathe perfectly OK, and my
pulse Oximeter says there is
plenty of oxygen in my blood. My
blood pressure is perfectly normal
as well.
I mostly forgot about the
pain while drinking, but it came
back after dinner, and I wondered
if it was some sort of heartburn.
I did have a semi rich dinner - a
pile of sausages and a small
portion of baked beans. I took a
couple of antacid tablets before
trying for sleep. I had also taken
a couple of Paracetamol tablets,
and a couple of Ibuprofen tablets
to cover all bases, but the ache
didn't go away. However I did seem
to get a good night's sleep after
a late visit to the toilet where
my guts exploded.
This morning my blood
glucose was looking far better
than it has for the last couple of
days. It was down to 8.3mmol/l.
7.3 would have been a lot better,
but 8.3 isn't too bad. The pain in
my back, from just under the
shoulder blade, and radiating to
the front, seemed just as bad this
morning as it did last night. A
hot shower did seem to lessen the
ache, but wasn't a cure.
I wondered how it would be
affected when I walked to Aldi,
and then back again loaded down
with shopping. Walking did seem to
help, but maybe only as a
distraction - it is not a strong
pain, but still annoying. I think
one thing that walk did prove, and
that the pain is not heart
related, and so must be just a
pulled muscle or something. As
such it should fade away, and it
will probably do it so slowly that
I won't realise it has gone until
it has gone.
I was expecting rain this
morning. I think the weather
forecast for today looked a lot
grimmer yesterday than the more
up-to-date revisions this morning.
I was more than happy to walk to
Aldi in bright sunshine. It made
the flowers in my front garden
look a lot nicer. I was surprised
to see the Michaelmas Daisies
already starting to flower. I
always tend to think of them as an
autumn flower, but maybe it is
just that they last a lot longer
into the autumn. Maybe it is
because only the forst two weeks
of June were summer, and we are
now in autumn !
This was the view looking
towards the west at just before
8am this morning. It was pretty
much the same as the views to the
east, north and south, but this
was the easiest direction to take
a snap. There is now (10.48am) a
lot of clouds in the sky, but it
is still bright. In fact it is
still just about sunny, but the
gap the sun is shining through is
closing up. The latest forecast
revision says there might be a
light splash of rain soon, but it
also adds quite a few more hours
when there could be sunny spells
this afternoon.
One of my purchases from Aldi this
morning - Linen soft, 3 ply,
toilet paper. Presumably it feels
as soft as wiping your bottom on
your bed sheet - one thing I most
definitely do not do !
I'm not really sure what I
am doing for the rest of the day.
It seems like it might be nice
enough to go for a walk, but I
can't seem to raise much
enthusiasm for that. What might be
more likely is to do a bit of
gardening. I suspect that walking
would be better for my (possibly)
pulled muscle, and gardening could
just make it worse, but I do feel
a slight urge to do a bit more to
the garden before tomorrows deluge
of rain.
If I believe it is going to
be bright this afternoon then
maybe I could do a bit of laundry,
and hang it on the line to dry
outside. I think doing laundry
could be even worse for my ache,
but it is also possible it could
pull the muscle back where it
should be. Doing laundry has
proved beneficial to my
Costochondritis in the past, and
maybe I should try it for my back.
What have I to lose except pain
(although substituting "gain" for
"lose" might work equally well).
