I hope that
after yesterday's generally incorrect
forecast, the forecasters are hedging
their bet by saying that today, apart
from maybe a brief flash of sun in the
evening, will be very dull. Hopefully
they will have got it wrong again, and
there will be sunshine today. We need
it because it is starting to get cool
without it. Just 19° C is forecast.
Maybe tomorrow will see a sunny
afternoon, and the temperature up to a
more friendly 23° C.
I felt generally awful
yesterday. I am not sure when my
hangover had reached it's half life,
but it was probably late afternoon.
The added effects of excess alcohol,
such as am aching stomach and other
internal organs (probably mainly my
liver) faded even more slowly. On top
of that there was the tiredness after
not going to bed until 5 or 6am, and
then only sleeping an hour or two.
Of course I did have several
snoozes during the day, but sometimes
they seemed to only last 10 minutes.
At least one was a lot longer, and the
others may have actually been longer
than my subjective view of them. Of
course the result of this tale of woe
was that I hardly did anything
yesterday. I didn't even wash, or get
dressed beyond underpants and a pair
of shorts. I didn't even eat that
much.
I don't think I had any
breakfast, and for lunch, a fairly
late lunch if I remember correctly, I
had a couple of cans of soup. They did
perk me up in some ways. For dinner I
just kept things very simple. I had
Spam and rice crackers with some
sliced pickled jalapeños. I have a
nagging feeling that I may have eaten
something else. It might have been
some cheese and rice crackers, but I
can't think if I had them in the
morning, middle, or evening.
The last thing I did yesterday
was to take the picture above. As a
view it looked far more dramatic when
seen through the 4 inch high opening
of the bathroom window. Being in a
well lit room made the view far more
dramatic. I used a pcket camera, on
auto, to take this picture from my
garden. The camera decided to do a
long exposure, and I don't know how I
managed to keep the camera steady
while it did it. It came out looking
like the sky was bright blue, and so I
did some post production to try and
get the sky looking more like it did
to the naked eye. I probably should
have made the sky even darker to match
how it looked from the bathroom. From
there it looked like "art" but on
reflection my photo has nothing good
about it.
That scaffolding could be just
for a roof replacement, but I wouldn't
be surprised if it didn't turn out to
be another attic extension. They seem
to be all the rage now. One problem
with that scaffolding, or at least the
noise and disruption as it is put up,
is that all the pigeons have been
scared away. That is more or less the
roof and chimney pots they would sit
on to watch my bird table. I noticed
there was still uneaten grain on it
when I went out to it this morning.
I didn't go to sleep as early
as I thought I might. I waited until
it was almost dark before I went to
bed. I read a page and a half of my
book, just to relax, but I needed very
little relaxation. I doubt it was even
past 9pm before I was sound asleep. I
haven't had a sleep like it for ages
and ages. I have the faintest of
memories of having one pee during the
night, but essentially it was like I
went to sleep at (for the sake of
argument) 9pm, and didn't wake up
until 5am. That was more full 8 hours
"beauty sleep", and then after a wee I
got another hours sleep.
This morning I still don't feel
I am fully over the previous night's
excess, although, having said that, I
do seem to be feeling better and
better with each passing hour. At this
time I am not over it, but it can't be
long. This morning my blood glucose
was slightly higher at 7.9mmol/l. That
may suggest I did have an extra snack
of cheese and rice crackers sometime
yesterday. However it was still good
reading for me compared to the average
of the last few months.
So far today I have had a good
shower. I feel much better for that. I
have been to Tesco for more cans of
low sugar soups, and some whole meal
bread rolls. I also bought some fish.
My breakfast was two smoked salmon
rolls. They were nice, but I am
thinking that cheese and tomato might
have been nicer. Although walking to
and from Tesco seemed perfectly OK, I
still don't feel very dynamic this
morning.
The next thing I think I'll be
doing is laying on my bed reading. I
wouldn't be surprised if my eyelids
start to close, and I end up having a
snooze. I have all the time in the
world so I may as well enjoy it if it
happens. The next thing on my agenda
is to try and get myself out tonight
for a gig. Chain are playing in The
Railway next door to Blackheath
station. Unfortunately there are no
trains to Blackheath today and so I'll
be forced to go on a bus.
