The forecast
web page has been revised today. Note
the little downward pointing
spikes/arrows/Vs for each hour. They
weren't there yesterday morning.
Anyhow, this morning, as the forecast
predicted, is nice and sunny with an
almost clear blue sky. That clear sky
meant this morning was quite chilly,
but it is warming up, and should reach
21° C this afternoon. That should feel
quite warm in direct sunshine.
Tomorrow should also reach 21° C, but
theearly afternoon may be a bit dull.
There could be sunny spells for a lot
of the morning, and then again from
3pm until sunset.
There is almost nothing
to say about yesterday morning apart
from what I have already written early
yesterday morning. As far as I can
remember I did nothing except start
some washing, but I never got further
than leaving it soaking in detergent.
It is hard to recollect exactly what
happened, mainly because nothing did,
but I think I just kept putting off
doing it until it was too late.
In the afternoon I had to do a
little preparation for a beer drinking
session with Jodie. I invited Michael,
but he was too busy to pop by. I think
my preparation was no more than wash
and polish a few glasses, and wipe a
few old beer spill stains off the
table (fortunately covered with a wipe
clean PVC tablecloth. Jodie arrived at
about 3.30pm, and we started on the
first beer. Fortunately for me I
provided all the beers except a two
that Jodie left here. It was fortunate
because I enjoyed the beers I had
provided, and the two that Jodie left
from am earlier session were also both
nice.
It made a change to have nice
beers. Some of the beers that Jodie
brings are very weird, and it is hard
to believe they can legitimately be
called "beers". The closest to weird
stuff was a beer I bought from Aldi.
It was a chocolate orange flavoured
stout. I don't think I could make a
habit of drinking it, but one can was
nice. Jodie was a bit ambivalent about
it - neither liking or hating it. I
suppose my feeling wee almost similar,
but with a slight bias to liking it.
One other event yesterday was
the delivery of a bottle of
Ballantine's whisky that I had ordered
from Amazon back in July. I'm sure it
was caught up in a huge Brexit customs
delay, but it was finally delivered
just in time for Jodie to have a
taste. Her verdict was that it needed
some Diet Coke in it. I must say I
didn't find it to be a whisky I could
slowly sip, and get very drunk on, and
I am not sure why. If it was something
obvious like being far too smoky it
would be easy to say, but there was
some unknown flavour that spoiled it.
Some might say I was just
careless, but I would say it was
ongoing research to test the limits of
my tolerance. I am talking about my
lunch. I had a rather nice bowl of
chill flavoured noodles followed by a
strange vegan sort of snack (or meal).
The latter was a lot of gravel and
grains, plus a few red beans in a sort
of "add boiling water" pot noodle sort
of way. I guess it could have had some
merit because it tasted awful enough.
The noodles were very nice, but I had
an idea they may be a source of hidden
sugar. I'm not sure sure about that
mixed grain pot.
My dinner should have been
safer. It was oven cooked haddock in
batter with tinned peas. The funny
thing is that the day before I had cod
and thought it might have been haddock
because it didn't taste as expected.
Last night's haddock, and it
definitely said haddock on the
container, tasted more like cod.
Weird, ain't it ? I'm not sure about
the peas because they were an almost
unknown make, but it should have been
mostly healthy for me.
My sleep was a bit odd last
night. Most of it was good, but at 1am
something odd happened after getting
up for a wee (although I don't think
it had anything to do with that). I
got back into bed and felt really hot.
I was soon feeling very sweaty. It
could have been some sort of fever,
but they usually make you shiver.
Maybe it was my liver having a freak
out as it was dealing with all the
booze in my blood (I was slightly
drunk when I went to bed).
I seemed to cool back to normal
in an hour or less, although I think I
fell asleep again before I cooled to
normal so that one hour is a guess. I
seemed to sleep well until as dawn
approached I seemed to have dream
after dream. I'll only comment on one
dream because it is easy to describe.
It was about a new Woolworths
appearing somewhere in Catford. It's
notable feature was it's size. It was
huge ! The back half was devoted to
fine clothes, clothing, and ballroom
dancing. It had it's own ballroom with
orchestra ! The front half was more
normal with counters selling all the
stuff that a typical Woolworths used
to sell.
My "experimenting", or
foolhardiness meant my blood glucose
had risen to 8.6mmol/l this morning.
That is not bad as such, but it spoils
any chance of getting my end of month
average figure to less than 8.5mmol/l.
In fact I don't see it happening now.
I think this month's average is going
to be very similar to the last 3 or 4
months, but that still merited the
nurse saying I had "good control" of
my diabetes.
I've been quite busy this
morning. I finished the laundry I
started yesterday, and got it on the
washing line to dry before 9am this
morning (but only just). In today's
warm sunshine it should be dry by 6pm.
Once the bath was free of my washing
buckets I had a shave, shampoo, and a
shower. I think I feel clean enough to
face company now. Once I have finished
writing this I am going to dash out to
Tesco to buy yet more cans of soup,
and hopefully a bottle of orange
flavoured Jameson's whiskey. I have
seen a picture of a bottle of it
bought from, I think, the Elmers End
Tescos. I just hope the Catford branch
has some.
After Tesco I think I'll be
going for a gentle walk in the park,
and on to The Jolly Farmers where I
hope to meet Angela. I still have
doubts about whether I should bother.
Oh well, I'll just have to see how we
react.
I nearly forgot to show this.
This was the view to the west at
7:16pm last night. That pink sky
really did herald a nice morning, and
if the forecast holds true, a nice
day.
