The most
recent revision to the forecast doesn't
really change anything to the earlier
version in the screenshot above. As I
write this it is cold, but gloriously
sunny. At sunrise the temperature was in
the region of 3° C, and we probably just
escaped a frost. This afternoon the
temperature should reach 10° C, and if
it is not too windy that may feel OK -
particularly if the sunshine or sunny
spells continue beyond 1pm. The early
hours of tomorrow morning may well
feature a lot of rain, but that should
finish by 10am. The rest of the day
should feature light cloud with a few
sunny spells. Like today, the
temperature should reach 10° C.
Yesterday was one of those days
where I seemed to be very busy doing
nothing. I started to wash some stuff,
and left it soaking in detergent. It
is still there, all cold and nasty
this morning. I seemed to spend nearly
all day just reading or on the
internet. I have a few dubious
downloads to show for it, but nothing
else.
Despite it all sounding like a
negative sort of day, I did achieve
one good thing. I was very careful
about my eating. For breakfast I had
two bowls of instant noodles. My
lunch, and my dinner were just soup -
two cans for dinner, and two cans for
dinner. All the soups were low sugar,
and probably low calories. I didn't
have a completely snack free day. I
had a couple of small packets of
crisps some time in the afternoon.
One peculiarity was that I
hardly remember much about the
evening, and maybe even the late
afternoon. It is probably because
there were few "hooks" to hang on to.
I remember eating, and I remember
watching both Have I Got News For You,
and QI, both repeats shown on Dave. On
reflection that does count for a lot
of the evening. I think QI finished at
9pm, and I went to bed, to read, after
it had finished.
I made a particular point
of brushing my teeth before going to
bed this time. The night before I
thought I had brushed my teeth - it is
the sort of thing you do on autopilot
- but I still seemed to be able to
taste some blue cheese I had before
going to bed even in the morning. It
was not pleasant. Maybe it was
something else because even a couple
of swills with mouthwash in the night
couldn't seems to fully take that
taste away. Maybe it was something
else that was beyond my imagination.
I probably read in bed until
about 10pm, and I think I fell asleep
quite quickly after that. It was a
night where on every occasion except
one I could fall asleep very quickly
after waking up in the night. That one
occasion was when I developed an itchy
foot. I have no idea what causes an
itch on the sole of my foot (possibly
a tiny, invisible, cut or something).
Fortunately I have not been afflicted
by this gigantic annoyance for a some
time.
I had two dreams last night
where I seemed to be delivering
something. The first time I was
delivering what was something like a
Yellow Pages to a kebab shop at 8am.
The shop was open, and a few cab
drivers were in there having
breakfast, and the grill was on. I
decided I fancied a small doner kebab
for breakfast. I expect it was
delicious, but sadly I think I woke up
before I could eat it.
A delivery only took up part of
a longer series of dreams that had a
nautical flavour. It seems I was going
on some sort of sea trip, although the
interior of the ship was rather like
that of the old Woolwich Ferries.
During the early part of the dream I
knew the name of the ship I was on,
but I forget it now. However I do know
the name of it's sister ship. It was
the Abbey Dabbey, and I think the name
of the ship I was initially on had a
similar sounding name. The captain of
the first ship asked me if I could go
along the quayside to deliver
something to the captain of the second
ship.
That delivery was just in a
brown paper bag, and I could see it
was a pre-paid cheese catalogue.
Actually it was a clever idea - almost
like a gift card, but a whole booklet
listing different cheeses that you
could order up to the pre-paid price.
It was when walking through the second
ship that I think I noticed the strong
resemblance to the Woolwich Ferry. It
was there that I met a "posh looking
bird", and we left the ship together
to go to a dockside bar. Things were
looking optimistic, but then I woke up
!
This morning the truth about my
careful eating was revealed. My blood
glucose reading had fallen from
8.5mmol/l yesterday, to a very nice
7.5mmol/l. In consequence my running
average for the first 5 days of this
month has fallen to 8.2mmol/l - the
same as my average for January. Now
the big question is whether I can keep
it this lower, or even lower at the
end of the month ?
So far today I have had some
breakfast (two bowls of instant
noodles) and I have fed the birds.
I've also read a few internet
articles. The next thing I have to do
before considering anything else is to
finish doing the laundry I started
yesterday morning. Even through rubber
gloves it is going to feel horribly
cold and slimy, but it has to be done.
I almost wonder if I should hang some
of it on the washing line. If I were
to know the afternoon would be mainly
sunny I might do that, but then again,
even at midday the sun is still not
high enough to shine on the back
fence, and my garden is in gloom for a
few months yet.
Once that washing is hanging up
to dry I will consider what I might do
next. I could possibly go for a walk,
but wearing myself out would clash
with a desire to try and go to a gig
tonight. MT Pockets, who I really
like, are playing in The Railway in
Blackheath tonight. It is easy to get
to if I dare get on a bus without a
mask - no more than 20 minutes on a 54
bus. It is also sort of easy by train
- a train from Catford to Nunhead, and
then change to a train back to
Blackheath. I am sort of tempted to
try the train route to get there. The
only real bugger is the pub is very
expensive, and doesn't (or didn't)
take cash payments. Also the gig will
probably not start until 9pm. Even
when I was going to gig fairly
regularly, pre-covid, I hated late
starts. There is a 50% chance I will
actually be home in bed before they
start !
