Yesterday was another nice day. After a slightly cloudy start the sun broke through at about 8am, and from then on it was a lovely sunny day. It was also warm with the temperature hitting 17° C.
   another sunny day
Today is probably going to better than yesterday. The day has started sunny, and according to the latest revision of the forecast we should get full sunshine until sunset. This could see the temperature reach 18° C, or if you believe the BBC website, 19° C. Tomorrow will be almost a re-run of today. The forecast includes a couple of hours in the afternoon when there will only be sunny spells - exactly as originally forecast for today until the forecast was revised. It might be a degree cooler at only 17° C, but that should still feel nice and warm.

I did think I would probably go out yesterday. I considered both the idea of a walk in the park, or another day taking photos of trains...or just some sort of vague exploring. In the end I did none of these things. I realised I had to make a start at adding all the pictures I took the day before into my ever growing spreadsheet cataloguing all my best train photographs.

As I am sure I mentioned recently, probably yesterday, I have lowered my standards to try to include a picture of every train that is at least "mostly OK" because it seems I am now collecting train numbers rather than a representative example of all the different train types I have seen and photographed over the years. Some photos are over 20 years old, but it is some of the later pictures, taken on early versions of digital cameras, that are the worst of the bunch.

When I started the spreadsheet I had no idea how large it would grow, and I had no idea how much time it would take to complete it. I spent most of my free time yesterday just adding stuff along with a bit of photo editing, and stuff.  Apart from eating, watching 2 hours of TV, and a bit of reading, it all sums up my entire day. The two hours of TV included the now usual one hour of The Prisoner and half an hour of The Simpsons, plus the once a week treat (I think) of 30 minutes of Yes Prime Minister on BBC4.

I thought I had eaten fairly carefully yesterday. The day started with a high blood glucose reading of 9.0mmol/l, and it was originally my intention to fast for a lot of the day. I think that fell by the wayside when I thought that "one little bowl of instant noodles" would be harmless.  At lunchtime I just had a few small cubes of cheese, some sweet little cherry tomatoes, and some German style ham that was right on it's use by date. The flaw here was the tomatoes. It is easy to forget that a nice ripe tomato is a sugar bomb in disguise.

My dinner was supposed to be a very healthy meal, and in the main, it was. It was similar to the one I pictured here a few days ago. It was grilled beef burgers on a bed of lettuce (actually assorted green leaves) with some spring onions, red pepper, radishes, and yet more of those super sweet tomatoes. I had more of those tomatoes because I wanted to finish them up. They were very ripe, and a few were just starting to deteriorate. There was nothing to do but to use them all up.

Last night was unique as far as this year goes - it was the first time I went to bed without the heater being on. In fact it hadn't been on for at least an hour before I went to bed. On the whole I was comfortable, and I seemed to sleep rather well at first. Like the previous night, I didn't seem to wake up to pee so often, or if I did I peed less than usual...or so it seemed to me - it could all have been a dream.

It was fairly late before I turned out the light to go to sleep - quite close to 11pm I think. Three and a bit hours later I woke up, and I found myself in that silly predicament of starting to feel a bit too warm under the duvet, and yet without the duvet it was definitely feeling chilly. I could have just persisted as I was, but I rationalised that I had already saved a fair bit of electricity (an increasingly expensive luxury), and I decided to put the heater on low. That did the trick, albeit after a wait for the room to warm a bit, and I seemed to sleep ok in my usual half uncovered way.

I woke up at the inconvenient time of 6.15am. It was inconvenient because I wanted to wake up at 7am, although I will admit it made very little different to the smooth running of the universe. I spent 10 minutes to turn the heater up full, have a pee, refresh the weather forecasts on my PC, before going back to bed, and almost failing to get any extra sleep. At least when I did get up, probably at about 6.55am, my bedroom was nice and warm for slouching around in just underpants.

I was disappointed when I checked my blood glucose this morning. It had come down to 8.9mmol/l. Such a small drop of just 0.1 was very annoying. I had a good think about what I ate yesterday, and also what I drank. I think a lot of the blame was on all the sweet little tomatoes I ate, but maybe some blame can be attached to one or both bottles of strong beer I drank to wash down my dinner. Oh well, at least it was heading in the right direction.

I have already been busy this morning. I have washed a double duvet cover, and hung it on the line to dry (and all before 8.30am !!). After that I "cooked", or more truly, prepared a single bowl of instant noodles for breakfast. I was thinking of skipping breakfast, but unless I hear otherwise, I'll be meeting Angela for a lunchtime drink, and I prefer not to have a couple of pints of Guinness on an empty stomach. Apart from the usual shave, shampoo and shower before meeting Angela, that is over half of my day accounted far. I'll find out what I do when I come home from the pub when it happens.
