Today is probably
going to end up very similar to yesterday, but
one difference is that after a clear night it
was a chilly morning with the temperature down
to just 14° C. The sky is still mostly clear
and the sun is shining. The latest revision
shows the full sunshine may last until 9am,
and then there may be a couple of hours of
sunny spells before the clouds rule the sky
until a few sunny spells at 4pm, and more at
6pm until sunset. Once again the maximum
temperature will be 23° C. Tomorrow may
feature more clouds, and less sunshine, but
the temperature is predicted to be 23° C
again.
I seemed to have another day when it
seems I couldn't be bothered to make things
happen. I did have an idea that it might have
been nice to go out for another exploration on
the trains, but while there wasn't a train
strike on National Rail, there was still some
disruption. My probable route would have
needed to use London Overground, and possibly
the tube, and there was strike action taking
place on those.
Although I didn't do much, I did do a
couple of useful things. One was to go
shopping in Tesco. It might have been a bit
more useful if I had remembered to buy two of
the things I specifically went there for. One
was Marmite rice cakes, and the other was bird
feed. The latter I probably didn't actually
forget, and it was more the case of moving it
down my list of priorities until it fell off
the bottom. Not getting the Marmite rice cakes
was annoying.
The other major thing I did was some
more laundry, although like last time I seemed
to leave it until well past the start of the
afternoon until I got it all on the line to
dry. There were only a few items in this wash,
but one was a big hand towel, and another was
a double fitted sheet. Both demanded a bit
more effort than washing t-shirts or
underwear. Maybe it was made up for by a
pillow case that was very easy to wash.
I probably spent most of my day reading
both from a book and on the internet. I
managed to get up to date with one of the
funny/satire/fake news web sites, but there is
another I like that I must be about week
behind. Somehow I didn't even find time
to read all the I.T. science and technology
news on
https://www.theregister.com/.
It does make me wonder how I could be so busy
doing so little.
One very quick little job yesterday was
to reset, and re-bait the mousetrap in the
dining room. After examining it I still can't
make up my mind as to weather a mouse
triggered it, or if it was something like a
change of temperature or something. If it was
a mouse I wonder if it was injured ? It
is possible that it managed to get back to
it's nest, or somewhere secret, and had
subsequently died. It certainly didn't come
out last night to trip either of the two
baited traps.
After my nice low blood glucose reading
yesterday morning, I tried to eat sensibly in
the hope I could get another low reading this
morning. It didn't work, and I am not sure
why. A bowl of instant noodles for breakfast
is like a constant, and in theory can be
dismissed. The problem seems to have been two
plates of 4 rice cakes with salad, cheese
and/or ham. Maybe two plates, albeit separated
by a few hours, was over doing it, but I am
sure I've got away with it in the past. One
the other hand I did seem to have doubts about
it it yesterday because I opted for two known
low sugar cans of soup for my dinner last
night.
I seemed to get a very good night's
sleep last night. I started out watching QI on
TV until I realised it was a repeat from not
too long ago. I turned of the TV, and went to
bed. I was probably fast asleep before 10pm.
Once upon a time that would not be that early,
but it seems my standards have slipped
recently. I have a vague recollection of
getting up for a pee at around midnight, but
the next time I was aware of was just after
4am when I definitely needed a pee.
I got back to sleep easily enough, but
I only seemed to sleep for an hour. I partly
got up, but only long enough to go to the
kitchen for a bottle of water from the fridge,
and check the mousetraps as I went through the
dining room. I also quickly checked the
weather because I thought it felt a little
chilly. I went back to bed, and pulled the
empty duvet cover over me. Oddly enough it
still seemed a bit cool, and while I was in
bed for maybe another 90 minutes, it didn't
feel like I was asleep at any time. My maybe
it didn't seem like it, but I must have got
some sleep because there was a lot of missing
time in that 90 minutes.
As is now normal, I waited until I had
drunk over a pint of water before checking my
blood glucose. The result was still
disappointing. 9.2mmol/l is almost the new
normal, but while still under the red line
(10.0mmol/l) it is a lot higher than I like.
It is all the more important to get better
control of my blood glucose since the only
medical help I seem to be able to get is a
privately run robot rather than the usual
living, flesh and blood nurse I used to see.
My surgery warned me to look out for
messages on Whatsapp from Doctaly via a text
message a week or so ago. The day before
yesterday I got my first message from Doctaly
(actually Doctaly Assist). It said something
like "would I like to proceed to use Doctaly
?". I replied "No". Yesterday I got another
message saying I still hadn't agreed to use
it, and that if I didn't use it I would be
struck off, and referred back to my GP.
Apart from being very impersonal, and
it being just a chat-bot hitched to an AI
(artificial intelligence), it is actually run
by a for profit private firm called BM
Medical. It is all part of the creeping
privatisation of the NHS, and I don't like it,
and I will not use it. There is more is more
information about it here >

Today could be like tomorrow, or the
day before, but with even less things done.
There is a slim chance I might go out tonight,
but at the moment it feels unlikely. If I do
go out it will be to see Chain playing in
Blackheath (it is the gig I thought was on
last night). I think I feel very unmotivated
today.
