yesterday was generally dull, but for a couple of hours from mid afternoon, it was also very wet. The only good thing, and in that dull and wet weather it was extremely marginal, was that it was 12° C for much of the day.
     sunny day
It is sunny now, but revisions to the forecast sometimes add sunny hour, and some take them away again. The latest revision shows sunshine or sunny spells at 10 and 11am. Then there are some dull hours before the sun comes out again at 2pm. From then on it there should be some sunshine until sunset at 4pm. The highest temperature today is forecast to be just 10° C, but clear skies at the start of the night will allow the temperature to drop to 7 or 8° C. Tomorrow should see the temperature rise to 12° C, but at the cost of heavy rain between 1am and 2pm ! Once the rain has stopped the temperature will start to drop, and it seems it will keep dropping. The forecast could, and probably will change a lot before next Tuesday arrives, but if it doesn't change it would seem that next Tuesday could be perishing cold !

I think I have to declare that yesterday as a good day. It probably helped that during the first half of the morning, I made several visits to the toilet that saw off the last of the previous day or two of semi-constipation. I am sure there must be a word that describes a sort of halfway house to constipation, where you go, but it is obvious it is not enough. Anyway, that is the unpleasant bit over and done with....until next time !

One of the good things about yesterday was that despite the depressing weather, and a fair bit of booze in the afternoon, I managed to get quite close to my ideal of fasting for most of yesterday. Yesterday morning's very high, well into the danger zone, blood glucose reading was a definite call for action, and while I didn't actually fast, I was very careful about what I ate, and even when I did eat it was a small quantity - except for dinner, but that was a sort of special recipe instead.

I had contemplated going to the little supermarket on Catford Bridge yesterday morning, but two, maybe three things stopped me. The first thing was that t was dull and wet outside, although I don't think it rained for most of the morning. The second thing, and maybe more important, was that I was expecting a delivery, and it wasn't until late morning that I got an estimate of when the delivery would arrive. The third reason as that while it might have been nice to get another loaf of sourdough Polish bread, I didn't really need any, and possibly that it could provide temptation when I wanted to not eat.

About all I did in the morning was to wash the beer glasses ready for a boozing session, and wash my self under the now reliable again hot water in the shower.  Other than that, I went into lazy mode, and spent a fair bit of time laying on my bed reading. I know I closed my eyes for a while, but I can't remember if I actually had a snooze. I think that after my disrupted sleep the night before, I was trying to get an extra half hour sleep.

At about midday I got a text message from Michael asking if I wanted any bottles of Diet Coke while he was in Tesco. I said "yes please", and it was probably about 2pm when his car drew up outside to deliver the bottles to me. He confirmed he would be around at 3.30pm to join Jodie and me in our beer tasting session. It was probably about 3pm when my delivery arrived.

I thought it was going to be three boxes of beer, but it was one big box and one small box. A bit later on I discovered that the 12 cans of assorted beer brewed by Lervig were of absolutely no interest to Jodie. I had been thinking of her when I ordered them. She admitted that she loves Lervig beers, although how she knows when she only ever tastes one of each brew is anyone's guess. She had tasted everything I had ordered, and so declared them to be of no interest !

What was of huge interest to me was the abbey beers from the Rochefort brewery. I love this rich and strong abbey beers. The case I ordered had three (or 4 ?) different strengths of basically the same beer. I could not resist opening on of the weaker (still 7.5% !!) beers and drinking it before Michael and Jodie arrived. Michael was slightly late because he waited 10 minutes for some very heavy rain to stop. I think Jodie was probably on her train during the heaviest of the rain.

I don't know if Jodie's tastes are swinging away from some of the horribly sour beers she used to like, but the beers she selected from my fridge, plus a couple of cans she brought with her, tended to be far more drinkable than usual. The last beer we had was very, very drinkable. It was a 13.5% thick dark porter. It tasted delicious, although I was worried about it's sugar content. It did taste sweet, but in the end it didn't seem to have any negative affect on me.

Michael stayed a lot longer than usual, and left around 6pm. Jodie left about half an hour later. A little before the end of the session I went out to the kitchen and added the final ingredients to my dinner. Those ingredients were white cabbage, and cauliflower, and the base they were added to was stewed beef with oxo and red chilli peppers. All the cabbage and cauliflower bulked it up, and the whole thing seemed nice and satisfying.

I ate it while watching a bit of TV. When there was a long break between TV entertainments, I lay down and finished the book I was reading. My timing was accidently very good. I read the last word, and turned the TV back on. I found I had missed about the first minute of an episode of QI at just after 8.20pm. I watched for no more than 5 minutes before I concluded I really didn't like one of the guests. He seemed to be an American version of the Taliban or something.

I switched off, went and brushed my teeth, before going to bed. Having finished my book, and not selected another, I decided I might as well try to go to sleep. it was easier than I imagined. I doubt it took much more than 15 minutes before I was fast asleep. To my surprise I seemed to sleep very well, and that lasted right until I got up quite late. I definitely got my full 8 hours of beauty sleep, and probably another couple of hours on top of that.

The only slight hiccup during the night was when I woke up and mistook 3.53am for 5.35am, and thought it was getting close to the time when I might get up. At just gone 6am I turned the heater on full, and for the next hour and a half it seemed I barely slept. I was quite surprised when I re-checked the time and it was 7.35am. Evidently I had fallen into a deep sleep without noticing it. I can remember quite a few dreams happening, but I can't seem to remember a thing about them this morning.

I was shocked when I checked my blood glucose this morning. From a dangerous high of 11.1mmol/l yesterday morning, it had fallen right down to 7.7mmol/l this morning. I know I didn't eat that much yesterday, but I certainly didn't starve, and I was sure some of the beers would have sugar in them, so it seemed doubly wonderful to get that nice low, well below typical average reading. I'm wondering if I can keep it that low today ?

It is nice and sunny, and in theory I could go out for some hours - either a walk, or a bit of train photography. I can't think why, but I don't seem to fancy either. I guess I'll see how I feel after I have had a shower. Maybe I'll suddenly get the desire to go out, or maybe it will be during the forecast dull couple of hours, and all outdoor ideals will fade away. If nothing else I will probably go out to get another loaf of Polish sourdough bread. I'm sure I wanted to go in Poundstretcher too but I can't think why. Maybe of I end up going there I will realise what I wanted as I pass it on the shelves.
